The Android boot animation is usually stored in system/media as bootanimation.zip
EDIT:
Duh, forgot to say... Just delete the bootanimation.zip using a root file manager

Petitdroid resized
Hi there, the petitdroid animation is stretched because the size in "desc.txt" is set to 480x800, it should be 320x480. I had troubles to install ist as a ROM, so I just included the file "bootanimation.zip" which contains the animation itself. It has to be placed into /data/local, root needed.
View attachment bootanimation.zip
Of course I am referring to the thread you just mentioned. However, I can't post to dev forums yet. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=705279
I designed a custom boot animation, but I need some help to get it up and running.
Can someone take a look here please: Why is my custom boot animation not working?

also, in a few hours (whenever the pull request goes through) i should have a section up in ROM Manager with custom bootanimations.
Would that come through as an update on the market? Or will we have to update rom manager ourselves?

As long as the kernel you've got installed supports bootanimation.zip files it should work. However, I placed my zip in the /data/local folder. Either should work though, I think.

No i didnt edit anything.
Here is the file attached, that i renamed to bootanimation.zip on my phone.
Doesn't work. I had the same issue and yes I know how to change bootanimation.zip because I've just done it three times prior to trying this file.
Great list, thank you.
Would you happen to know if there's any way to preview these before use?
Also, I've never changed my boot animation before, I've read elsewhere in this thread that you have to have a kernel that supports it.
I'm currently running 2.1 Vibrant stock, only thing I've done is rooted it so I could have access to things I wanted like tethering, screenshots, etc.
Would you happen to know if I can change the boot animation through Clockwork Rom Manager the way my phone is right now?
I'm running Axura 2.1, does anyone know if I'm able to change the boot animation on this? I've tried it already using root explorer to transfer the file but when I do it gives me an error that says the file is only read only.
Is it the ROM or something I need to do to transfer the file properly?
Use a file explorer that change r-rw. Not sure stock JFD?

Original Android boot animation.

I have been searching for two days for this, both here and elsewhere, so forgive me if it's been right under my nose and I failed to find it.
I am trying to find the stock Android boot animation that began with, I believe, Cupcake. That is, the Android logo in a sort of blue-hued metallic texture. I want this for my Droid. If anyone knows where I can find this, given Droidboots is ****ed, I'd be very thankful.
completely removing the "bootanimation.zip" will default you to the "stock" android boot animation
What are the chances that I would be looking for the exact same boot animation? I haven't had any luck either.

+1. Go into /system/media, at least that is where it is on the heroc, with a file manager, root explorer is a fine choice, and delete the file named bootanimation.zip. reboot and enjoy the classic goodness.

Yup this works.
Even works on Sense ROMs.
It must be built in default when no customized carrier one exists.

[BOOTSCREEN][Last updated Feb22]_Custom Bootscreens for Wildfire.

Hello guys, I wanted to start a collection of bootscreens for Wildfire!

This current screen is a first of many that I want to give out to the community.

Here are the N1 style bootscreens
_____
Download both N1 screens and additional files here
N1 CyanogenMod Bootscreens
_____
Please let me know what you think of the screens that I upload. Also all suggestions are welcome!
The animated previews you see on this page are low quality animated gif images which are set to loop through the whole sequence, the final files that you get will have good quality animations with proper loops.
Hope you find these useful.
So here is a video of a few select bootscreens. Just wanted something better than the Gif's above, (still not that great) all these look even better on the phone.
How to use these Bootscreens.
First off this is a basic guide, if there are easier/better/correct methods, please do let me know
Please read the full guide before starting.
Theory: So once you have the bootscreen.zip downloaded, you need to send it to your phone's internal memory in a particular location. Generally this location is data/local, but depending on your current ROM the location may differ.
Things required:
Rooted phone
Root explorer (or any similar app that gives you access to edit the internal memory eg: super manager)
Procedure:
Copy the downloaded bootscreen.zip file to your sd-card.
Open root explorer (or anything similar).
(backup) Just in case anything goes wrong or if you want to keep a copy of the original boot animation, copy to bootanimation.zip file you find in data/local directory to your sd-card.
Long press the bootscreen.zip file that you downloaded and copy it. (in root explorer long press open context menu, may change depending on your app)
Navigate to data/local on your phone's internal memory and paste the file. Accept the prompt about replacing the file that already exists.
You're done!
Reboot and enjoy.
Note: If the bootscreen.zip file is not found under data/local run a search through the app or on the ROM zip package that you have installed to get the location.
For those of you running CyanogenMod 7, you dont have to replace the original file, placing the bootscreen.zip file under data/local is enough.

Hey I like the N1 animation alot, but it seems to go too fast... if I simply change the 30 fps to say, 20, will that make it slower? and will it take longer to boot because the animation is slower, is there a set amount of times the animations run before you enter the OS itself? Or does the animation run untill the OS loaded up?

Wrong answer...
You could be right, but no...
That are not the default themes...
I think you should drag and drop the files from your theme into the framework file and compile and sign. That should do it.
Or do you mean a theme enabled by default but not default theme?

Hi,
check for what exactly ?
there is nothing special .. as I said .. if I flash the ROM and the theme separately then every thing is ok ...
all I did was replace the files in the zip..and then I get stucj at bootanimation.
I didn't sign or compile...
I have a theory : the SystemUI has a battery percentage and the apk has new files in it... could it be the problem ?

First: to clarify;
you have a couple APKs for your Tab.
You place them in a flashable zip, flash, bootblock
you have a ROM for your Tab,
you grab the .zip, and replace the theme APKs, flash, and it works?
THat is really strange...
Hi,
thanks for answering me mDroidd ...
I found the problem.. it is the SystemUI.apk
I copied all the theme files to my ROM zip except that file and the device boot ok.
why does this file need to be flashed in a separate zip ?
is there another way ?

Maybe it had something to do with permissions our something?
If you override the systemui manually, does it work? Can your send me you're updater script?
