Wiped out my cellphone.. now when I turned on it requieres an activation.. I'm trying to flash it so I can use the wifi only. It says "press send to activate your phone" I've tried to use the Odin Multi Downloader v4.43 to flash the ROM I tried several of them(geewiz-2.9-system-09272012.tar and eh03_full_odin.tar) both of them give the same error message which says Unnamed File was not found...I totally lost now I just don't know what else to do.
Please help if you can...Thank you!

To bypass activation screen, go to emergency call, press *#83786633.
Then press the home key and it should bypass it. I think you need to do this after every reboot.

I got passed the Activation screen, now what to do about the Odin I tried to flash the phone using the Odin Multi Downloader v4.43
and I used those two ROM images I tried several of them(geewiz-2.9-system-09272012.tar and eh03_full_odin.tar)
both of them give the same error message which says Unnamed File was not found...am I using the right downloader? what is it giving me this error message? do you know a better way?
Thanks!

Is there a difference between Odin Multi Downloader and regular Odin? Why don't you try Odin 1.85 and see if that works. I'm a noobie too so I'm not sure if I can help.

Or why don't you just root and flash Geewiz in recovery?

Was trying to reimage this phone using Odin v1.3 a usb malfunction error message came up Ive been trying to use it to several computers since then, but the same message kept coming up and of course the odin could recognise the devise and i went up turn the phone on normally all i have is a black screen with a phone and yellow explanation and computer logos on the screen the explanation sign is in between the phone and computer logos and now I can not do anything with this phone...I think my only option is for somebody to help me to find some image that will run on the SD card instead of the USB port.
Please help!

That would be a quick fix if I could get to the dialpad, the screen is black with picture of a phone, yellow sign and computer because I was in the middle of imaging the phone when it failed the process thats all it has every time I turn it on and nothing else. I try to use different USB cable in different computers and no luck and none of those systems would detect the phone. My question was if there is a way to use the SD card to do the reimage instead of the USB and if there it is not, this phone will be absolute and I'm sure you gurus in here have a way to fix my problem.
Thank you!

Pull the battery
hold down volume down button
plug in usb cable
that should put you in download mode
Have Odin up and re flash your file using PDA

[Q] stock build for telus fascinate 3g+ (sgh-t959d)

hi there, i've searched and searched and cannot for the life of me find any stock roms or anything for the telus fascinate it probably doesn't help that I don't know what the build number is... I flashed a verizon vibrant rom quite a while ago and don't remember my methods of doing so, I've read that it's going to be a huge PITA to get it back to stock, especially because I can't seem to get it into ^&%^*% recovery mode or even get it to connect to my pc.. so any help in that regard will also be MUCH appreciated
THANK YOU in advance.. I hope!
Alright so i managed to find an all in one zip file in a tutorial post obvs i didn't look hard enough lol!
So that just leaves me with the more important predicament. I can't get my phone into recovery mode to flash with odin and my pc won't connect to the pc at all.. I read somewhere that my phone is soft-bricked???? Because of using a vibrant Rom? Any input is greatly appreciated once again
P.s can a mod change the title? Or can i? Because its slightly irrelevant to the post now

coincidentally this is also the exact procedure i followed when I rooted and flashed.
so a little more information for you.
sorry about the reply taking forever i couldn't find the post on my phone and haven't had much time to sit on the computer

Says your phone model is GT i9000 so you probably flashed a gti9000 rom (Bell Vibrant / international Galaxy S).
Anyway... you need to be in "download mode" to flash via odin. I think you meant phone to pc, but were you able to connect your phone to the pc before? Do you have the correct drivers installed?
You know you're in soft-bricked if when you turn on the phone, you get a picture of a phone to pc with a ! in between. This can be fixed by a USB jig, or for some, just doing the download mode button combination while your battery is out and your usb is plugged into the computer.
What rom did you install exactly?
Yes i realise that i suppose that's what i meant but odin doesn't pick up my phone and my pc won't either. I used to be able to connect yes but now it won't I have the drivers downloaded i havent had the chance to try a different cord but this is the same cord i used to flash, so im pretty sure that's not the problem.
I guess its not soft bricked then i haven't seen anything like what you have described,
The Rom im using is called EXTRAordinary Rom or something like that ill try and find a link for you

Bump? This is a serious issue for me as my Bluetooth is not working and things are constantly force-closing...

If you have gotten your phone into download mode and your pc isn't recognizing it, you should; 1 - try a different pc, 2 - try a different cable or 3 - try both. Are you still able to get it into download mode?
Ughh I've tried every computer in my house, 3 laptops and one desktop...
My personal laptop is the only one it worked on previously, it now doesn't work, and I only have the original cable i did the flashing with originally, but i'll yoink a cable from work tomorrow do test that out, although I am seriously doubting it would work... my widgets have recently stopped working as well, they say "problem loading widget" I'm pretty scared by this point and feel as though my phone is sloooowly hardening into a useless brick. i'll update tomorrow, when I get a new cable.
um also, I've posted this question in a different thread but have yet to be answered, why can't I find the telus usb drivers anywhere? they don't have it on samsung's website,,, i haven't installed any drivers since the original flashing and have no clue as to where to find them... as far as I could remember it was ridiculously easy to find them last time....
Thanks in advance,
Antoine
try installing samsung kies-worked for me once

I've managed to KILL my S3!!!! (D'oh)

So I've been happily flashing the JB files, and phone was doing great. Tonight I came across a couple of programs, Root Explorer and Root Toolkit. Put both on my phone, everything is still OK.
Looking through the Toolkit, I see that you can update fonts to the phone, so being that type of guy, I picked one and went to install it.
Big Mistake? The phone went to reboot, and is now stuck at a nice blue SAMSUNG logo, and won't do anything.
Of course, I hadn't done a back up, so thinking a way around the problem (I'm at work, not on my own PC), I redownloaded the last update (DLI8) with Odin. Ran Odin off a flash drive, then went to connect the phone (brick) to the PC. The PC's (tried on 3 of them) all say that the device connected is a GADGET SERIAL (?) and is not recognised by Odin.
So, I know that I will try when I get home in the morning. But am I missing something else, something that I have not tried? (except some brain cells!!!!) Is it because Odin can't be ran off a flash drive? Is the S3 well and truly dead? Should I smash it and claim on warranty?

erm did you put your phone in download mode by pressing Home + Volume Down + Power before using odin?
Whilst holding the power button, hold volume down button also. This puts phone in download mode. Odin will now recognize it, assuming you've got the drivers installed.
Read the sticky threads thoroughly and you'll solve this in no time.

Yes, in Download mode, PC's just sit there, so am thinking that because they are works ones (that I can't install drivers on) that I'll have to wait until I get home.:crying:
Fingers crossed
Managed to get the drivers installed on a work PC, running Odin, eventually connected to the phone, is currently saying 3minutes to finish. Blue bar is getting bigger. Hopefully by the time someone else reads this thread the problem will be solved.
Let this be a warning to all NOOBs (like me). BACKUP, BACKUP BACKUP
EDIT: IT WORKED. Now just to set it all up again how I like it......
Most work PC's are locked down so people can't install stuff on them that can cause the company problems.
Be VERY careful trying to do anything on a work PC as you may, inadvertantly, wind up with a brick.
Remember, just because its your work PC DOESN'T mean its YOUR PC....

Yes, I know. It was a contractor PC, so not connected to our network. So no harm done. Phone staerted up great, but after a reboot lost all contact details, am in the process of getting them all back with that software from Samsung called "Kies" which is not playing very well at the minute. We live and learn.
I killed my s3 too while playing pokemon. It just suddenly reboot and stuck in boot logo with some white distorted line. I panic and plug out the battery and tada, phone dead. Can't even go into download mode.

When i extracted the file i downloaded, there are about 5 files and according to the guidelines, you click on PDA and select a file named CODE,click on phone and select a file named PHONE,then CSC and PIT,these are four files that was used. Then the Md5 file wasn't used though it's among the files that was extracted but was not asked to use.My phone is galaxy GT-i9100.
Thanks for your help.

Thanks, that link is enough to get me started..but is it something i could just download and instal on my pc,connect my phone and repair or i would need a kinda of pad or something...saw a video on youtube where something was connected or soldered to the phone and then plugged to the pc without the battery.
Thanks.
If you spend money on a RIFF box, unless you know what you're doing/have done it before more than a few times, there's a fair chance you'll both pay for something you'll never use again & bork your phone beyond repair.
Pay someone else a quarter of the cost & have them do it/successfully fix your phone (assuming it can be JTAG'd & isn't a MB replacement job).

[Q] Son of a Hard Brick! Please help...

It appears that I've hard bricked my Vibrant T959. In the middle of flashing using ODIN, it crapped out for whatever reason. I cant get into download mode or recovery mode any more. Really having a tough time finding a solution to my problem. I've come across plenty of people with soft bricked phones, alas no luck in finding a solution for my problem.
I've looked into the Unbrickable Mod and it's predominantly overwhelming. I dont believe a USB dongle would help here (maybe I'm wrong...hopefully I'm wrong). Can anyone help me out?
Any advice or tips is greatly appreciated!
Unless you screwed the bootloaders during the flash (were you flashing bootloaders?), a dongle is going to work. And it is much cheaper/easier than any more invasive solution.

Okay this time around I have a solution for your problem...
As i mentioned in the previous post my phone was not turning on or anything at all so here are the steps I followed...
1 - download ODIN
2 - download the .pit and .tar files
3 - make sure your phone drivers are installed on the PC you are using.
4 - open ODIN and load the .pit file and .tar file (PDA for .tar file)
5 - Plug in the USB cable into the PC
6 - remove the battery from the phone
7 - Hold down VOLUME UP and VOLUME DOWN simultaneously
8 - Plug in the usb into the phone
9 - reinsert the battery into the phone and hold the volume keys until your phone is in download mode
10 - wait for a yellow box to appear in ODIN (0:COM11) something like that, means your phone is ready
11 - Click start and be patient, shouldn't take a long time though... you should see the green progress bar in ODIN...
I hope these steps help someone who is in a similar position, let me know if i can be on any further assistance.
Goodluck.

Thanks for your input and help, I'm sure these steps will help someone. But this will not work for me as I'm not able to put the phone into download mode for ODIN to read and recognize my device.
My march goes on...

I overnighted a dongle off Amazon last night and just received it this morning. Unfortunately, no dice. It has not put the phone into download mode. I tested the dongle on a s SGSII to confirm that the dongle wasn't DOA or something and worked flawlessly on that device.
My search continues...
I am Not sure if you have tried this option already or not but you might want to look into 1 click unbrick, just search it on google and maybe that will work out for you if you haven't already tried it
good luck

No luck. Tried it yesterday to no avail. Thanks for the ideas anyways NSingh95!
Sounds like you just need to flash a new kernel but you would need to be in recovery or download mode to do so. Have you checked to see if gingerbread boot combos work? Hold only volume up and turn the phone on, maybe you have gingerbread bootloaders and don't know it ha.

I have tried various combinations of buttons in hopes of getting it into download mode. No luck with any of them. If I could just get it into said download mode it would be very easy to reflash a proper kernel. No luck yet.
I'm on the same boat. Yesterday after downgrading to stock eclair, I was trying to upgrade thru Kies mini. Everything was looking good, it went up to 100% but when it was supposed to reboot my phone, nothing happened. It's completely dead, no lights, no power, no nothing. I had a similar problem last year, but I was still able to put my phone in download mode by pulling the battery and plugging it in to the USB cable. I tried volume up + down, volume up + power, volume down + power, volume up + down + power. I think I tried everything already with no luck. I hope somebody can come up with a solution.

You have a hard bricked phone, its basically a paper weight now. NEVER use kies to upgrade your phone, it ruins more phones than it helps. You can try calling samsung and telling them that their program Kies has hard bricked your phone, I have seen a few people get lucky and get a free replacement.

Have you tried button combos while the usb jig is plugged in? My phone doesn't jump to download mode with a jig either. Try getting into download mode the normal way but instead of inserting usb cable while holding buttons, insert usb jig. Worth a try....

That was a good idea, but unfortunately it didn't do anything for me. Thanks for the idea though, hadn't thought to try that process.

Nothings changed. It just did a restore.

Failed to install a MTP driver? Searching Windows update for CDC ACM. Kies is crying in the background, won't recognize device when plugged in download mode. Will try throwing laptop and trying again.

It seems like there should be some info disseminated. What exactly did you do to restore your phone? Do I just have to install Kies and it does everything else?

Have phone off and hold vol-down and power button together until you see a warning screen then release buttons and then push on the vol-up button to go to download mode.
I think you do not need to push the home button down with the other two..as all the mega 6.3 i know of only need the vol-down + power button to be used..unless the i527 is different and needs the home button with the other two.

good job.... now we can play more with our devices and always come back to kies....
thank you to all for this great message. i was able to connect my i527 to Kies and it got recognized right away. And then Kies asked if I wanted to update the phone. After clicking a few "OK" the update update went on by itself. No need to go into download mode or anything. The process takes roughly 40 minutes and then I just rooted the phone again with Kingo.
A side note: Kies would not start on my Win 7 64 bit computer initially. Searched around and found out it's a common issue, and I just need to repair the .net framework 4.0. After that all is dandy.

Hello,
I've been trying to enter the serial # on the label which also matches the one on the recite and it keeps telling me that the serial # is incorrect.
Is there another serial # i don't know of?
Thank you in advance.

Still asked for serial #.
Sadly it did ask for the serial #.
I think this is really messed up from Samsung's part.
I'm going to have to call them up tomorrow.
Thank you.

Turns out I was entering the IMEI #.
For some reason Metro Put on the receipt that that was the serial #.
The only way to get the true serial # is when you go to the about phone info.
My phone isn't working, so I input the serial to my Galaxy Note.
Got a step closer, but i gto hit back with a message saying that this model is not suported.
So this time I put the model SGH-I527 which my phone was flashed to anyways and I entered the Serial # to my Note and BAM!
I will let you know how it went since right now its still downloading from Samsung servers. :fingers-crossed:
