Take this with a pinch of salt as it's far from official but:
Gaurav Hasabnis, an industry analyst and contributing editor of Fonearena.com posted on Twitter: “Something gonna come in Jan 2012. #sgs2 users gonna rejoice!”, followed by a second tweet: “Soon Mali400 gonna be in full use.”
The mentioned Mali 400 is the name of the GPU on the Samsung Galaxy S II. Rumors states Ice Cream Sandwich will utilize the the full potential of high-end smartphones better than previous Android OS, which leads us to believe that the ICS will be making its way to the Galaxy S2.

Hope this is true.. SGS2 will rock the smart phone business more!!!

Thank you for the heads up. Hope GS2 will not take a long time to upgrade like the Samsung did for Galaxy S.
seems to match up with this
http://www.lifeofandroid.com/news_detail/ice-cream-sandwich-to-debut-on-android-handsets-in-weeks/
The worldwide release of Android 4.0 will begin in time for Christmas with Google’s Nexus S smartphone meaning the new OS should be broadly available for all compatible handsets by early 2012.

They hvn't even released the 2.3.4 update in India.Jan 2012 s too early a date for us i guess .

If they won't release it officially, I'm sure we'll get a custom rom with 4.0 running as soon as the Galaxy Nexus is launched But good news, anyway!
Just think. If it's January 'officially,' then it could be December (or earlier) for us!
That's a great news. Though I think we'll get ICS unofficially before that. Anyone?

Even if we are not getting the official update, i am sure xda developers will cook one for us.

Didn't Samsung drop development of 2.3.4 as they started 2.3.5
I still haven't got any official updates from 2.3.3 on a SIM free handset here in the UK.
Samsung UK have also tweeted that there is no time frame for getting ICS on the SGSII (read in to that what you want)
Think custom roms will be the only way forwards on ICS for some time.
Well that announcement is about Official release, NOT unofficial one. 70% users use Official ROM and like them, existing use this and that. Without a Stock ROM there won't be any Custom ROMs? Would there be?
Count me in those 70%.
We'll sure have some custom rom runnig ICS before the official one but I wonder what they'll do about touchwizz...
Looking forward to it
With the recent availability of the Galaxy Nexus directly from Google for $399, I am very tempted to make a purchase. However, the phone has been out since around November which means there is clearly something else on the horizon. Has anyone heard any rumors about when the next Nexus device is supposed to drop? If it is more than 6 months from now I have no problem spending the $399, BUT if we might get something sooner I will hold onto my cash! I am ONLY interested in discussing pure Google Nexus devices, so if you have any info leave a comment.
Well I suspect it will be around November again as that's generally when new android versions are released

Interesting. So we really might need to wait until November for another AOSP Android phone to be released? If that is the case I see no reason why I wouldnt buy the Nexus. Does anyone else have other info regarding a Nexus device release date?

I hope so, but based on past Nexus phones I have no idea
Nexus one: January 2010
Nexus S: December 2010
Galaxy Nexus: November 2011

That a long time from now, I might just need to grab a Galaxy Nexus. There is no way I will be using my Sensation then since I got it last June.

So its not like I didn't see it coming when samsung hired steve, but geeeeez. Samsung devices are #1 priority I guess these days. I liked it better when the love was more evenly distibuted. But its good news anyway.
I think this is more news worthy:
CM9? Bleh, who cares.
Samsung also donated some devices to the CM team a while back, and generally release source faster than HTC.
don't they also have a bigger market share?
I haven't had a Samsung smartphone, just posting from what I've seen

Pretty sure Sammy is the biggest smart phone manufacturer in the world.
Honestly, the next phone I get, HTC and Sammy are battling for my money. I said after my Epic that I would never buy another Sammy phone, so I skipped the SII in favor Photon because I felt the 3D was useless. Now that I've played with the SIII and the EVO LTE I am fairly equally impressed by both devices.
It's going to come down to support and device build, who releases source the fastest and who updates the devices the best and which one builds the best feeling device.
Assuming there is an S4 and Sammy doesn't blow it, I could very well see my self getting it.

Not released yet. Still No Wifi and the RIL isn't playing nicely - as is almost always the case with CDMA devices - so No Voice or Data either.
Pretty much from what I gathered it boots and runs and that's about it.
We would get this if we had official support. We knew it wasn't coming for us.

Does Sammy make all of the Nexus phones? I would get that if I were you, and you're interested in getting lots of updates and development. That'll be my next phone if Sprint doesn't wait 6 months after release to sell it.

Samsung does update quick. Ignoring the wider user base of GSM carriers, CDMA carriers such as VZW and Sprint always tend to lag behind updates. Due to CDMA restrictions that can't be open-sourced, Samsung doesn't control the entire software update and adds to the delay. Take a look at devices that were released with Gingerbread and see how many of those have ICS. Chances are they're almost all GSM devices. The HTC Rezound on Verizon came out later than the Epic 4G Touch and has yet to see ICS. The Evo 3D and Design 4G won't see ICS till next month. Besides, the Epic 4G Touch was receiving ICS leaks since early this year.

Is there reason to expect that there will be a new edition of the Nexus 10 anytime soon?
I've been wanting to purchase one since they were released, but now that I'm in the market I'm hesitant. I don’t want to purchase the device only to have a newly upgraded version announced shortly after.

There are only rumors to go off of right now but if you really want the upgraded version (if there is one which many people think there is) you might have to wait until holidays or next year around February? I don't think anything will come out soon but earlier there was talk of a November release date.

Hi, The S3, Note 2 and S4 have all been pushed to 4.3.
Is the mega being left behind, Gear support is what Im waiting for?
Does anybody know a date?
Thanks
If anyone knew a fate it would have been announced... We know no more than what you know ......just gonna have to wait and see what happens.

According to an older leak Samsung planned to update the Mega to 4.4. You can find it somewhere around.

2SHAYNEZ
there is a update comming to 4.4 somewhere in december check here Click
Unfortunately, the list does not reveal anything about the possible release date of Android 4.4 KitKat for these smartphones. Earlier it was reported that the Samsung Galaxy S III, Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note II would be upgraded to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean by year-end. The company was said to be planning an Android 4.3 update for its top of the line smartphones soon
Lol no date man ....I'll believe it when I see it
4.3 will come to the mega we just have to wait see here

They won't do a full version update 1 business quarter after a previous one. They'll release patches but that's about it. If we were getting 4.4 we'd get it with the next version update, whatever that will be.

Sorry to introduce facts on ya; development cycles between Google, Samsung, and the carrier are longer than 3 months. Not to mention implementation, support training, and roll-out efforts.
I'm not saying it'll never come out, but I'd be honestly surprised if the Mega gets both Android 4.3 and 4.4. I'd love it if Sprint delayed a bit and got 4.4 on the Mega, but the 4.3 roll-out has been planned for some time with the carriers who are releasing it and the effort is duplicative for a 4.4 roll-out.
Bump!
Any ETAs for 4.3? And are we even in line to get 4.4?
