[Q] Triangle Away Addon - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
I need to install and run Triangle Away but have one problem. As I have deleted the EFS partition on my phone, I can not get wifi or radio to work which is stopping triangle away from downloading and installing the add-on that it requires when you run it the first time. Does anybody know how I might be able to get this working. Can I download this addon from my laptop and then copy to phone ? USB is working, just not wifi or radio.
Thanks for any help.

download and install perseus kernel (probably others also) and it shouldn't ask you for addon (at least it didn't on mine).. that is if you have ICS.

whoops sorry. i did read the rules but missed that part. cheers.

You deleted the EFS? I'd be worrying much more about that than resetting the binary flash counter... you essentially have a $800 MP3 player right now. Either way I think what you are asking for is the flash kernel, I might be able to get that for you in the morning.

If you have deleted efs folder,
install a stock official rom via odin.
It will re create your efs folder.
You will have every thing but imei
however you need to bother this if you want to send it for warranty repair. Otherwise you can send it as it is for paid repair.

hey thanks. Yeah. I am starting to come to terms with the fact that I have an expensive mp3 player. Anything you might be able to do to fix this would be very much appreciated.
Cheers.

Also wanted to mention that I did not intentionally delete the EFS. This occured somewhere between install Omega JB (including Siyah Kernel post Omega install) and then down grading to Omega ICS. I do recall seeing the sdcard partition name change from sdcard0 and back to sdcard from JB to ICS though nobody has commented on whether this was any reason to be concerned.

Hi...were you able to.recover your imei? How?
Im having the same problem due to.efs folder.
Thanks

Why choose to resurrect this long dead thread? Search for the hundreds of identical efs folder threads and you will quickly learn that there is no way to recover the efs unless you made a backup. Take it to a repair centre and have them recode it for you, make sure it works on 4.3 before you pay.

[Q] Android noob need help

Hello, I have a samsung galaxy s 4g and my brother has a samsung vibrant. His phone is currently running on eclair and he wants to update it to froyo through samsung mini kies. He still hasn't done the update because he is afraid that it might wipe his phone and even after searching thou any information on weather or not it will wipe the phone. Im fine if my phone gets wiped because all i really need are my contacts which are backed up but my brother has a lot of important information on his phone that he does not want to loose just because of an update. So is it safe to update?
Just to be safe..
tell him put put things from his INTERNAL SD CARD on his computer. Who knows you may get erased... i didn't.
Eternal sd should be fine, but you can save if you have like super-duper important items there.
Well 1st off u would b better off looking for the answer in galaxy tab forum and from what I know thar if u use mini kies it doesnt wipe your memory

You should start off by reading the stickies in the Development section

Thanks, so I guess its safe to update.
And I did read through all of the stickies and I did do thourough searches through this forum and I did not find a clear anwser so to those saying go look at the stickies isn't going to help, just simply stating an answer is much faster/easier way to get an answer. Just saying yes or no or providing a link is much easier than saying you should look at the stickies.

Im not saying it to be a jerk . Im saying look at the stickies so you dont F up your phone . Just back up your data as usual and you could use mini kies to update . Or you could flash a pre-rooted custom rom found in the Dev section. Make sure you familiarize yourself with odin (I use v1.3 /most stable from my exp.).

Ohh, well thanks for helping out then. I just responded like that because I grew tired of responces like that and one of the responces told me to look at the galaxy tab forum which really doesn't even make any sense. Ill probably just update my brothers phone because I dont want to mess with it and accidentally delete important information. Ill be flashing custom roms on my galaxy s 4g though once krylon gets cwm or something else up and running on this phone. Its a shame that there aren't any devs other than him working on this phone.

[Q] Quick question regarding ROM and Kernel backups

Hi,
I've been searching over the forums for the past few days and i've been thinking of rooting my Samsung Galaxy S2 and i've got a few questions, yes i've been searching around for them and I still find i'm confused, if there is a logical answer somewhere else in the forums I apologize but i've not been able to find the answer.
1.
Chainfire's rooting methods seems to be the easiest methods to do so for the
Samsung Galaxy S II I9100
I'm worried that if the phone I recieve tomorow is the i9103 model it won't work. Wondering if someone can confirm this for me.
2.
Custom ROM's and custom kernels compliment each other and I can't wait to load them onto my phone when I finally recieve it.
But is there a way to backup the original ROM and Kernel that I recieve just incase there are hardware faults with my device and I need to hand it in with the warranty i'll have to load the original ROM and original Kernel somehow?
Is this possible?
3.
Will the USB jig as shown in a thread on this forum work specifically for the i9100 device or will it also run for the i91003 device.
Sorry if I sound a bit paranoid but I'm just worried about my warranty, but at the same time I wish to use the EPIC creations on this forum. Hopefully you guys can help me. Thanks

Dont know what a 19103 is .

Yes if you have a backup of the rom or have a copy from the branded rom post in dev section .
#Failing that a flash of stock Samsung rom will remove root .
3.

If you have taken the steps to backup your original firmware and know how to remove root etc then you are starting from the beginning as opposed to many who try to find those answers afterwards .
Also check out the backup your EFS thread and or Nitrality app in the market to back up the IMEI via EFS folder in dev section .

[Q] Unroot and warranty

Anybody did an unroot and claimed warranty?
I wanted to make sure I can revert back and claim warranty if situation arrises in future..
Going to flash tomorrow!
Thank you all in advance
Unroot and use a USB jig to reset the counter and you should be fine.

Yeah mate. Was stupid enough not to back-up my efs folder and lost my IMEI.Wiped completely.Flashed back to stock used a jig and said kies crashed during an update and they fixed it under warranty.
Thank you for the reply..
What is the efs folder? Have never heard of it? Installing custom roms screws up IMEI?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
if u are using 2.3.5(KI3), u need to flash the older version of bootloader via odin otherwise u cannot use the JIG to reset counts.

Thank you.. Did a thorough search in forum and found the post regarding efs.. Thank you..
I was searching in android development section for this information all the while. Just now I found all the needed information in the general section.. I now very clear on the general facts

in croatia there is 90% chance that they will not look for rooting or everithingy that is done with software
Gotta back that file up mate.Dont be a clown like me.I had flashed that many times that i thought i was bullet proof. But then that bullet gave it to me from behind. Now i wear bullet proof nappies.Ive got efs back-up folders all over the place just incase.A copy/paste one(root explorer),efs.zip and efs.tar.gz(root explorer) in my phone and also on my PC in drop box.Just tryin to get terminal emulator to work so i can have RAW and im all covered

[Q] Make Your Smartphone New As It Was Before Unpacking

Hi, I've a Samsung Galaxy S II GT-I9100G.
It is rooted with kernel superatoms v3.0 XXLA1 with the Odin process.
The Binary Count is 3 and it has CWM mode.
It is in warranty period in today's date
Now, I want to replace it with I9100 as it has a bad compatibility of apps. But they say that the warranty is voided when you root your phone. Also, the Binary Count must be 0 in order to give it for repair or replacement.
Now, the question is - in simple words - I want to make it as new as it was before unpacking. I think I have to unroot it and all.
So, the request is to tell me the steps to make it a new I9100G so that I'd have no problem using the warranty.
Use a usb jig to reset your binary counter. Flash stock firmware and a stock kernel, this will remove the cwm/root. Do a factory reset. Good luck.

Really appreciated your help dude. But what if I only flash the stock firmware, I think the kernels, ROMS and all are bundled in this process.
Well, thanks... I have clicked the Thanks button

It completely depends on the firmware package. Some have the kernels packed within them, but some do not.

Ya thnx dude. I must tell you that i know the rules perfectly. Infact, I was going to post it in the QA forum but i wanted a discussion over it and thus clicked the 'Yes this thread is a question' mark.
SIMPLE!!!
Can I use the jig for I9100 ???
By the way, can I use any jig whose plug is compatible with my G's port??
Can I use the jig made for I9100?
Or do I have to scratch my head for and search for a I9100G USB JIG?

If i flash BTU firmware will it brick the phone?

My Ace 2 is EE branded:

If i flash a BTU firmware, then update it via Kies to jellybean, will it brick the phone or is it safe? Has anyone else done this?
Your telephone would explode because you did not used Q & A Thread, and you did not bother to use search function.
Have you ever read XDA rules? Please do. Do not open new thread for each question. Most of questions (including yours) are already answered.
I dont want to sift through 176 pages on the Q and A thread sorry.
Anyone answer please?
You can always use search function.
Most people are using it with good results. It's not that hard and I assume you are grow enough to use it.
But if you somehow cannot find it, then you can add a post on Q&A Thread your question and someone will answer you. At right upper corner you will get info at Notifications: that there is a reply.
fair point, my bad.
Please Search before create a new tread

no it wont brick your phone if done correctly(there are how-to threads about this, no further answers will follow here...)..
xda search is your friend and also is google - try to search on your own a bit and if you don't find anything, then you open a new thread -- here are more then 5mio users, someone does have your problem and there is a discusoon going on about that for sure..
no need spam more posts - read forum rules first!
yes it will brick it. So wait for kies.
Ive google searched loads for EE branded firmware and it just finds my own threads. Thats why im asking here but it keeps getting ignored so i have to keep asking cuz surely someone knows
