Update neo with flashtool - Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, Pro

I have the ftf file and I want to flash 587 for my mt15i but I would like to try to preserve all my apps and settins, like Sony would do. What are the right steps, what are the options I have to check/uncheck in flashtools?

Pff i get really tired of this, why you dont search and posting it in general chat instead greating a new thread??
Just search, i dont know if you do that but try to back up your apps with titanium back up, and you could try to untick factory reset but i never tried that, its better to update with pcc/seus and redownload the apps.

please help, my X10 is broken i think ?

I was trying to install custom kernel, but something must have gone wrong.
Now I can not go to xrecovery, it boots normal, but when it starts up i can only see my battery and statusbar, but nothing in statusbar.
If i use SEUS it says i already have the latest software.
Is there anything else i can try ? i have no clue what else to try...

Wrong section, you should be in Q&A. Mods please move.
To answer your question though.
When using SEUS, choose the repair option when it says that your phone it up to date. It will then download and install the latest firmware for your device. Or better yet you can use FlashTool to reinstall the firmware and root the phone.
Flashtool thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=920746&highlight=flashtool
Wierd!
Well, you can always flash the x10 generic "ROM" with Flashtool.
Then your x10 will be just like when you bought it. After that you can just root it and add xrecovery again! You'll propably be on BB 54 when you do this, so I advice you to flash BB 49 or 52 with Flashtool also.
EDIT: Three posts in like a minute!

Isn't it PC Companion?
Use Flashtool? That should help
On SEUS, Keep checking it for few times and then it will ask you to reinstall the current version
I hope this helps.
PS: wrong forum.
Flash
X10 is Die Hard man. Just flash the thing and it will be fine.
I could not use Seus because it keeps on saying i have the latest software.
Thank God and u guys for flashtool !
I'm restoring my ROM again, i will wait with custom kernel until there is a easier way to install it.
Thanx again

Phone keeps restarting

Hi guys,
My X10 Mini (rooted), when powered on, continuously restarts when it reaches the screen with the Sony Ericsson roundel. For those of you who have looked at my posts before about switching phones and transferring app data, this phone's screwing up is the main reason for those threads and thank you to those who answered.
For now, can anyone help me with this restarting problem? And btw pressing the home button and the power button doesn't help either, it just restarts the phone and continues this annoying restarting cycle.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

You have a so called bootloop. Do you have a custom kernel on it? Can you enter the recovery mode?
If all those are answered with "no" then you can choose from flashing a custom kernel with CWM recovery and flashing a custom ROM (if you have unlocked your bootloader) or if you have the stock kernel on it then simply repair it with SEUS (you loose user data either way)

You've only rooted your phone i think, so xrecovery is not available on your phone. But it would be the white sony ericsson letters (kernel logo) where you would press the back-button.
Not sure either if you managed to save your data, but i would suggest a repair with SUS or PC Companion. that will destroy your data but probably restore your phone to working order.
I may have a different option that 'might' keep your user-data, but i can't make any promise on that, since i didn't try it myself. Download. It's original SE 2.1.1.A.0.6 firmware that's flashable using Flashtool. I took out the userdata.sin, so the data partition 'should' remain untouched, preserving your userdata, but as said, i don't guarantee that.
(If you use flashtool, make sure you delete x10blrelock.ftf from the firmwares subfolder in order to avoid mistakes and brick your phone even further)

What the Sony Update Service normally does when repairing firmware, is flash the original and latest available software for your phone. This consists of the original bootloader, the original kernel, the original baseband, the original 'over the air' update mechanism (which you don't need since SE doesn't do updates for our phones anymore), the original system and the original userdata ( this includes various bloatware that came bundled with the phone ).
It's the quickest and easiest way to reset your phone to it's original factory state, but since it overwrites everything on the phone you will lose any apps, customization or data you may have stored (this does NOT include data on the sd-card, which remains untouched by the process).
What I did in that Download link i gave you, is remove the things you wouldn't want, like the over-the-air updater bits and the userdata bits. What this means is that the /data partition 'should' remain untouched when applying that package using flashtool.
If your earlier attempts to rescue your data were succesful, then there is no danger in flashing it, since it gives you a fresh firmware state that should solve your bootloop problems. You can always root your phone afterwards and restore your backed-up userdata again.
In case you didn't manage to backup your data earlier, then this is the probably the least destructive of all the options you have, since 'in theory' it won't touch your data-partition.
I usually use the full version for people who have bricked their phone and need it back to factory defaults (that included me at some point too). It is flashable on a phone with a locked bootloader, since it's all original SE firmware.
There are only two things that could go wrong as far as I can see:
First: It may still destroy your data, although in theory it shouldn't.
Second: Your bootloop may be caused by corrupted settings that are stored on your data-partition and you may still get a bootloop after flashing. In that case i can give you the full version too, which will restore your phone back to original factory-state.
To use it install flashtool (first post in x10 mini dev section, second in x10 mini pro dev)
Go into the /firmwares subfolder and delete x10blrelock.ftf
Place the downloaded .ftf file in there
Start flashtool
Click the button with the lightning-bolt on it in flashtool
Choose flash-mode
Select the firmware package
Press ok and wait till it's done
Keep your fingers crossed and reboot your phone

That's the theory yes
Normally, .ftf files are used to flash custom kernels, and the rest of your internal memory remains untouched in that process. So in theory, flashtool shouldn't touch anything that is not in the .ftf package, and since i removed the userdata part that should remain as it is now.
But then, for all the 'logic' that's inherent in computers, things are not always 'logical' for us analog beings

This is the download link, the file is called x10mini (E10i)_2.1.1.A.0.6_LNO.ftf and it's about 208Mb large.
Look up the folder where you installed Flashtool, and in that folder is a subfolder called /firmwares. Put the downloaded file in there (and while you're at it, delete x10blrelock.ftf)
Then start flashtool and press the button with the lightning-bolt on it, choose flashmode and select the package (There's only one choice, so that should be easy enough)
In the box to the right it will list the contents of that package, it should have loader.sin, kernel.sin, system.sin and about three others. Press the ok-button and when it asks to connect your phone, plug in the usb-cable and press home-and powerbuttons together so the phone restarts. It should enter flashmode automatically.
Good luck
Hi SmG67, thank you very much for your help. I will try out your instructions when I find the time. If you ever test it, can you let me know?
Thanks

No mate. Will erase all your data (except files on internal storage).
My advice is to save photos etc on pc and do a factory reset. After that you will have your phone exactly as mom sony produced it ( except unlocked bootloader).

Flashing firmware don't change "internal storage" just "device memory", but you'd lose apps and settings.
Titanium back can restore apps and settings but you have to approve installation of each app again and it takes a lot of time. The phone must also be rooted. For apps settings it should be ok.
Usually PlayStore install all my apps after flashing firmware. I think you need the acount backed up on google servers.

I can put the device in flashboot/fastboot though!

If you bootloader is unlocked you can try flash a kernel with CWM that support adb.
If not, do you have the FTF file for the firmware that is currently installed?
I would try at first flashing system.sin only from the firmware FTF, no wipes everything else expluded.
You will lose root and other modes copied directly to /system but you should have data intact.

Well no CWM installed & I haven't done the unlocking of bootloader yet.
Yeah I do have these two files in my flashtool firmware folder which I used :

For root didn't you just had to install kernel .10 over .54 firmware no?
Anyway the system from the one that is flashed now you the only one that knows which, I am guessing .54

[Q] C6806 OTA update just errors out.

I am on a rooted C6806 (Still locked) and the updater on the phone downloads the file and then it reboots and tries to install but cannot. Error updating is all I get.
I don't have a recovery and I would rather not wipe the whole device. Is there anyway to just update? Or at least is there anyway to get the stupid thing out of my notification bar if I decided I don't want to bother wiping the device?
I tried updating from the phone and also using the sony software, neither works.
Hmmmm
Use PC companion on the computer. Or you can flash the ftf file I made for it and uncheck wipe data.

I had a similar failure trying to use the PC Companion.
Can you give me a quick tutorial for flashing the FTF without wiping data?
I assume I'll lose root?
Ah okay you have probably removed some system files and that is what is causing the errors when updating since you are rooted. Yes you would lose root if you flashed the ftf file and from looking at a few other posts you can't root .257 yet.
Search for flashtools and you will find numerous guides on here. After you have it all installed and select the firmware to flash just uncheck the wipe data check box that way it will keep your apps and settings.
The ftf file is in my signature. If you need any more help or have other questions let me know.

Yes, I did freeze a bunch of services with titanium backup that were running in the background.
Ok, I do have flashtool, I just didn't realize that you could do it without wiping data, good to know.
I want to keep root so I'll hold off for now. But thank you for the help!
If you just froze them and didn't delete them try unfreezing them then update. Just check the forums for how people are keeping root while updating so you don't lose it.
