I was sent here by some other site to try and fix my issue, since I don't really know anything about what's going on, or anything about what it is I need, and need to do to fix my issue. I'm new to alot of this type of stuff, and it's a bit confusing.
Basically, I have a Galaxy S Fascinate SHG-T959D About a week ago now, it decied to try and reset itself. Now all that happens is it boots up and just constantly re-boots from there, making anything on my phone impossible to do. It just cycles through the Galaxy S screen, and my Telus screen constantly.
I don't know what to do or how to fix this, and I could really use some help understand what it is I need to do. I was told to look into something about Odin, and what to do with that, but I tried reading a bit into it here and find most of it very complicated to understand. I don;t really know what it is I need, and what it is I need to do.
If anyone could help, that would be awesome.
There are instructions here on how to install custom roms on the telus fascinate. Doing step 1 will return you to stock and get you out of the bootloop, but you'll loose all your information on your phone. I've only used the verizon fascinate so I don't know if there is a way to fix your booting problem without loosing your data. I'm sure others will chime in if it's possible.
Edit: after I posted I noticed that the files you need aren't available anymore since they were on megaupload.
Edit2: Sorry, hadn't seen this thread that has links to the files you need and has a lot of info.

Hey there, I've been anxious to flash my xv6800. I've been reading and searching extensively in the forums and FAQs and the Wiki (I don't usually post until my frustration is out of control). I've found some useful info here:
How-to for Wizard
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=298613
but didn't see the G3/G4 designation on my splash screen (dead end)
How do I go about flashing to a DCD rom (or any custom rom for that matter)? Is there software I need to install on my comp and are there any steps specific to the xv6800 verizon firmware?
I would really appreciate any help. Thanks
I'm in a similar situation to you. I found this helpful guide the wiki here and it got me started. I also posted a similar plea on the DCD's Titan Rom thread so see if a response turns up there. Good luck and PM me if you find anything helpful. The title of your thread makes it a good place to post for the likes of us.
edit: I bet if this was made a sticky and some informed people posted some helpful info, us noobs would stay out of other threads asking for answers. (sound of kitten stuck in tree)
i need help too
well i got impatient and just downloaded dcd 1.6.10 and just clicked on the .exe without doing anything else. its currently doing its thing, hope it works!
You so crazy! I hope that works, but I have my doubts. The version you're referring to, 1.6.10, is for DCD's Titan kitchen. AFAIK, the kitchen's for cooking your own rom. Cooking is different from flashing as far as I can tell. I think you'll now find that you're ready to make your own rom on your PC, but that still leaves us unsure of how to prepare for and execute the actual rom replacement on the Titan. Right, wrong, Bueller?
it didnt work. it was stuck at 0% forever and then gave an error. i took the battery out and back in and am back to how i was before. no brick
i think i need some sort of bootloader. "re-locker" ? i cant find this when searching.
i thought dcd 1.6.10 is a rom for everyone, and kitchen is for those who want to make their own roms? im so confused.

excellent. Thanks!

I tried to load dcd's and the official rom and the same thing happens to me, stuck at 0% then connection error.
Been trying to get some info from ppcgeeks.com but the forum has been down since yesterday.
What are we doing wrong?
Throw you a bone
OK, you guys sound real clueless (actually only a little more clueless than me!) so I'll help out. The ROM by itself is all ready to flash to your phone, like reinstalling a new operating system on your PC. The kitchen can be used to customize your own ROM, but I'd suggest you guys read up a bit more before going here. The garden variety ROMs that DCD and others provide is fine for now.
There are utilities on this forum to get you out of the bootloader screen if you get stuck (heppened to me last night). Search around a bit, and certainly read up a bit before flashing. These things are real complicated, but it takes a bit of understanding because the steps MUST be done in the right order, and many impatient folks dive in and get screwed, then complaign to the folks who gave them the files to begin with!

Maybe ur misunderstanding what's happening.
Whenever I try to flash the device Windows Mobile Device Center closes both the screen on my Mogul and the window on the host pc never moves from 0%
Hope that helps
OK - I'm new to this also but have a question. I know data is lost so does that mean I need to re-establish all my email accounts and contact lists? I installed the cab to allow you-tube and bluetooth data to my tomtom. Also the Touch commander. Is all that gone and I have to redo that as well? Is there a suggested utility to back up as much as possible to restore? I sync with my company email via exchage. Right now everything is basically working fine so hate to take a chance.
Regards... Steve
Ok, so I've tried to do my own research and have come up with very little. It took me about a year to figure out what rooting actually meant and did. So I rooted my SGS vibrant and flashed a bionix rom (i think). It says "bionix shut down sequence initiated" or something like that when I turn it off (any ideas on what it is or how I can find out). I really have no idea what version it is. I also would like to put a new rom on my phone but am scared ill screw it up. I watched a youtube video that told me how to do it the first time I flashed anything. It works with a few random screw ups but KILLS my battery. I would really like for someone who knows more than me to explain what a nandroid backup is and how to do one. What the clockwork rom manager can help me do. What the one click lag fix did. Why my computer won't read the storage things on the phone when connected to the phone anymore. What is this odin thing. What is a kernel. will I still get the ota updates without the stock rom. Where did my stock rom go when I pushed backup before I flashed this rom in the rom manager app. Did I actually wipe all the original data from the phone. Why can't I restore boot animation with one click lag fix(it says somethings not found... Did I wipe/delete it?). What is an apk and sdk(or skd)? What is a voodoo lag fix. How many times can you flash beer something goes wrong. I'm really new to ALL of this and have had no help really when I've asked a lot of people who apparently know more than I. ANY help from ANYONE who knows ANYTHING would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
Almost all of those questions can be answered by reading the Tips and Tricks or Noob Guide threads. Those two threads have given me all the info I've ever needed for the Vibrant.

Theres a lot of questions in there so I'll just bite off a few at first. Before that, have you taken a look at the vibrant bible thread in the dev forum? It covers a lot of the basic ' how tos '.
Firstly, you can possibly see what version of bionix you are running by looking under settings - about phone - build number. now might be a good time for you to odin back to stock and start fresh. Odin is a program that runs on your pc and can safely install a rom on top of any lag fix you may have enabled. You can read about using odin to go back to stock in the vibrant bible thread I mentioned earlier. Once you go back to stock you can receive ota updates from tmo if that's what you want or you can reroot and flash another custom rom. If you choose to flash another rom I would recommend reading every post on that rom's thread so you can learn from other's experiences. I would also recommend you keep reading the bible thread, theres a ton of good info there.
Good luck.

Dude, THAT is why I do those stickies, thank you! So glad it helped man!
That was really helpful, thank you and I will be looking into this more little by little. But I also have 2 very specific questions:
1. Is it possible to turn an htc windows phone into an android phone?
2. will I lose everything if I push the flash clockwork recovery in the rom manager app? I haven't done it yet but everything I've read has told me to do it the first time. I have the bionix rom running and don't remember flashing the clockwork recovery thing EVER. have I messed up or can I just do it whenever? And is it true thats how you make a nandroid backup because thats what I've read.
I really appreciate you taking the time to help me out, and being patient with me. You guys are the reason I love android. Thank you from your very lost, slowly learning, new friend.

Depends on the phone, many do have android roms available. Just look up whatever windows phone you have in the forum section and if there has been some android development there will most likely be a section in the thread devoted just to android development.
You need to odin back and start from new

Alright I need some help please. First off i need to re-partition my modem and i have no idea how to. Due to constant flashing it screwed something up and i can no longer receive data coverage. Now i looked and looked and i couldn't find anything. So i decided to start a new thread. I need a step by step walk through this will be my first time doing it. And i really don't want to say this cuz i am myself a noob (please no noob's on this one i cant afford another phone). i have had some help by some other people witch was good advice but i have exhausted my options here. I have tried everything from flashing new modems to flashing new ROMS to odin'ing back to stock A.T.T. I'm Stumped i have done absolutely everything i can think of to this phone and still no data. I have the correct apn settings i know that. I'm just completely stumped i dont know what to do.
Phone: Att Samsung Galaxy Note SGH-I717
Android Version: 2.3.6
Okay brother ....I've been digging for gold, And to clarify your issue, you do not need to partition a modem.
You need to repair the device partitions.
Now, this doesn't mean that you should just start changing partitions using CWM or TWRP, or ODIN.
What it does mean, is you need to let Odin do it for you.
I won't take the time to go into PIT files and mapping, as we both would explode from boredom in 10 seconds.
But I will tell you that there are different levels of depth regarding roms and how they flash.
Odin stock roms go pretty deep, but sometimes not deep enough, and Odin will sometimes ignore the PIT remapping function during the flash if the file structure is already present on the device.
That being said, an Odin return to stock is not always successful when seeking a complete restructuring of the device partitions.
However, I have located a rom (factory ICS leak) that contains the entire device partition package, the PIT.IMG Package, baseband, and factory ICS image.
By using this one click Odin file, you will force the device back to factory status using ICS.
This will allow you to push the UCLE2 modem again once you root using CWM.
The ICS root method is slightly different than GB, so check the ICS root info in the super thread before rooting again. This will prevent errors or worse if done incorrectly.
The link below is the most complete package I can find, and includes files not found in the GB Odin.tar.
The file is good. And has been used many times to repair issues we see here.
Take your Time, and read read read....especially when rooting again.
Note: prior to pushing this Odin file, you "MUST" wipe all data and factory reset the device to ensure a "CLEAN" build of the file structure.
And once flashing is complete, follow the root method for ICS... And once rooted, flash the modem by using CWM.
You will need to manually add and save your new APN settings.
Once these steps are complete, you should have a working device with data..
If not, you may have device damage of some kind, which requires a repair of the device by an authorized service center.
I'm uncertain of the software having the ability to damage hardware, but I'm certain it is possible, and you may have this issue.
But if you are willing to try this rom, it will likely help.
Beyond my advice above, I've got nothing more to offer, other than moral support.
Of Course, standard disclaimers apply, and you do this at your own risk ...
Best of luck to you ....g

Dont feel stupid.
We all come here to learn about devices, and the problems that are associated with them.
If nothing else, you've learned many things about Odin, and the importance of taking your time with these things, and about proper setup of the device.
I'm pleased to hear that your device is not damaged, and you are up and running.....g

agreed, OP my last post wasn't intended to make you feel stupid, I do things exactly like this more than I'd care to admit and I facepalm a lot. I completely forgot to recommend trying different sim chip which is one of the things I always check. My brother gets tired of me stealing his sim card to test my phone haha.
Happy to hear your phone is working!
Thank u all for ur help greatly appreciate it

Hi everyone,
I have been frequenting XDA for quite a while. Hugely into android and custom roms and things of the sort, but have never had a real reason to post. I have either been lucky enough to be able to find what I need by searching, or figured it out myself. This time however, I am pretty stumped.
I did a fair amount of research before starting this, and am now seeing that I did not do quite enough. If I am in the wrong place please direct me to a better one.
Here is my issue:
I have an LG g2 that I recently picked up used. Phone has never been rooted or worked on...until now. Decided I would spend my weekend working on it. Successfully rooted, and installed TWRP. Decided to flash a rom, downloaded my rom as I have always done, put it on the sdcard, made a couple of nandroids, and flashed it. Everything seemed ok, booted back up, got the correct boot animation, but it bootlooped. No big deal Im thinking, go back into recovery and wipe a couple times. Still wont boot. Go back in and restore my nandroids, and they wont boot either.
So now I am worried. Try it a coulple more times, and somehow get it to reboot to the setup screen. Wont go past there. Do the trick to avoid it and cant get it to activate. Double check everything, power off, wipe, power back on and now it wont even load to there. I tried sideloading a different rom as well as what seems to be the stock software and nothing. Im lost, I need help. Any advice?

Sounds like you need to restock and start over. I'd give you links but how to do so varies by which version or carrier the phone is from.
I Recently got a sprint variant HTC One Max, and it keeps rebooting over and over. After a little bit of researched, I found there was a problem with rebooting with the 4.4 Kit Kat version of sense, and that loading a ROM onto the phone would fix it. So I have been trying to research and read diligently, finding out as much information as I can about the process, but my biggest fear is that the phone would be bricked. Can someone tell me the chances of the phone being completely bricked, and all the steps I can do to avoid this? I don't really have any data on the phone that is important, I just don't want it to become useless as this is the only that I can use for a while.
I have been looking into the Cyanogenmod 12.1 Rom, so if anyone has any advice for me, I would gladly take it. Again, this is my first time doing anything of the sort, so the task seems daunting and challenging.

If you have read a lot then I am sure you must have come across how to unlock your Hboot and probably seen the S-off Tutorials. You can Unlock your Hboot and and try a custom rom. But I would recommend going to the HTC website > Rom Page and download RUU there and install it. It is 100 per cent safer and sure might solve your problem. But Have u already tried Factory Resetting your phone?
