I'm looking around, and I found a One Click root that didn't work, and nothing about how to get S-OFF and flash.
What am I missing here?
Obvious troll is obvious?

Well, your missing putting this question in Q&A for one thing, Look at my signature it has a link that says[ROOT] click that to learn more, If you want S-OFF the one that says [S-OFF]. Searching always helps, thats why theres a Search button at the top right of your browser. I f you want to find somethingYouclick where it says "Search" That is all,,,
Go into the Original Android Development section?
1-click: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1690919
S-off: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1737123
etc
etc
etc
This worked for me:
RegawMOD EVO 4G LTE Rooter (Doesn't give S-OFF but I'm on hboot 1.15)
If you're fortunate enough to have HBOOT 1.12, then I'd recommend using the LazyPanda S-OFF method.
If not, then you really can't go wrong with regaw_leinad's EVO 4G LTE Rooter.
Make sure you follow their instructions carefully.
(Just nicely saying this. I flagged a moderator to have your your post moved to Q&A. Development related threads go in this section)
~co~
Looking around I see posts like this everyday. Only hboot 1.12 has soff, hboot 1.15 and up don't, only hboot 1.12 allowed you to flash normally, hboot 1.15 and up require that you flash a kernel separately or that you flash a rom with that has the work around by xhausx. Read through q&a and read through development for what you need

The unroot guides in the DEV section are for those with a non-ENG H-boot. Since I did the original root method I am on the ENG H-Boot and from reading posts in the DEV Guide you need to be on a shipped H-Boot to unroot. Is this correct and how do you get back to the shipped H-Boot?
If this does not belong here, I apologize and feel free to move it to the appropriate forum.

Search for threads started by Football in this forum. You will find the RUU for the sprint shipped ROMs. Run one and you will get a shipped HBOOT. If it's 2.08.651.2, you will get HBOOT 1.50 (the one that only htc's unlock method works for). You will still be S-off and can still flash anything you want at this point. You might be able to turn the s-flag on, but I've never done it.
Hello I will be receiving my EVO 3D soon and I'm pretty sure it has an eng hboot and I was wondering if I should leave it as such or should/could I flash it to hboot 1.4? I pretty much want the same rooting abilities I currently have on my EVO 4G I'm not looking to delve into something I know nothing about...Thank you

Understand:
(all are assumed that bootloader are unlocked)
1.4 hboot S-OFF = you can root like we've traditionally have for years and flash any rom
1.5 hboot S-OFF = you can downgrade the hboot to 1.4 and root and flash roms as will or you can keep it and still root and flash roms as will.
1.5 hboot S-ON = you can still root and flash roms as will BUT you just need to flash the kernel (boot.img) first before you switch roms via Flash GUI or fastboot and that's it!
I really don't understand why one extra step bothers people so much? if your hear, you like the hard way, IF you wouldn't then you would stay stock, unrooted and keep living the normal life.....
I'm not worried about doing a little extra leg work trust its just that I was under the impression that you cannot get true s-off on hboot 1.5. But that wasn't my question I wanted to know if it was possible to upgrade the eng hboot to hboot 1.4 and how or point me to a thread that has that explained. Sorry if wasn't clear from the beginning

@enko420:
It's easy to find out just have to go into your bootloader by holding power+vol down when screen is off and it will say at the top of the bootloader screen

There is no soff currently for hboot 1.5. But its real easy if you don't want to use a computer. Just use joeykrim app called flash image gui from the market. There is even a free version on xda. Use that to flash a kernel. Then boot into your recovery and flash the rom. Definitely easy. The only thing hboot locks to my understanding would be radio. Well kernel too but thats an easy workaround with the app.

Yep, just about any S-OFF method will do this if you're on another carrier.
As a side note, @OP, This doesn't belong in this forum. Please post things like this in the General forum. I've messaged a mod to have it moved already.
Locked. There seems to already be a thread in general on this by...you guessed it YOU.

Help With Boot!
Hello,
I have installed the ROM on my EVO 3D trhough Clockworkmod's latest version. I am Unlocked on HBOOT 1.50. However, almost every ICS Rom I install, INCLUDING this one, when it reboots, it stays frozen on the HTC Screen with the green HTC lettering, and the White Background, and does nothing. How can i get rid of this? what do I need to do? PLEASE HELP!
Moved to proper forum.
With hboot 1.5. Go into fastboot and do fastboot boot recover img.img with whatever recovery yoyr using with sdk then install rom

Get S-off. The ICS ROM's don't flash well with 1.5 s-on. In fact, almost every person who flashes an ICS Rom that is 1.5 s-on has this issue. Getting s-off is pretty easy to do now. See the stickies in the GSM or CDMA development thread (depending on your phone).
Also, I recommend posting questions in the Q&A section when you need help.

Can you please post the link to the instructions or guide? As i said, all i have done on the device so far is gained root access trough HTCDEV.com. So it is just "unlocked". What should i do then? and is it one of these: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=24530433#post24530433
Thanks!
Tell me if it fixed it

That's it! I was on my phone earlier or I would have posted it, but it looks like you didn't need me to . I did mine using the method in my signature, but I think the wire trick that you posted is easier from what I have read. Good luck.
It worked great! thanks to all
Jeez I feel like an idiot for posting, because I've been reading threads and such for well over an hour but we've always been told there are no dumb questions right?
Ok, so I rooted my original EVO with Unrevoked years ago and have been happily flashing ROM's, radio's and the like ever since.
Now I've got a new EVO 4G LTE and I'm thinking I can come home today, root/s-off and be on my merry way flashing SuperJelly. Apparently, it's not quite so straight forward?
I've read the sticky thread how to root, etc but I have HBOOT 2.09 so it looks like LazyPanda and the like are not options to get s-off. There's even a thread on how there's no exploit for HBOOT 2.09 yet.
There's still much confusion in my brain about where to go next...
Unlock bootloader with HTCDev?
Then flash TWRP?
Feeling very NOOBish, but better to ask than to brick.

You know what to do. Now you just have to do it.
This is a very "Yoda" moment happening here... Thanks Capt.
Hm. I remember seeing this today, but I went back an re-read the article. It might be worth waiting for an HBOOT 2.09 exploit.
http://www.pocketables.com/2012/12/...es-for-rooted-s-on-htc-evo-4g-lte-owners.html
Unlocking your bootloader now is not gonna hinder you using any exploit found for hboot 2.09 almost certainly.
Basically I would advice not waiting for an exploit if you wanna flash a few roms

I'm gonna need to do more research on this because I'm not understanding why s-off is such a big deal on this device if I want to flash SuperJelly or MeanBean (which has s-on instructions) if all I have to do is root.
Frankly, I want SuperJelly for the GPS and camera improvements.
I gotta get this straight in my head so I don't end up posting a "help, I just screwed up my device" post.

Soff is necessary for the firmware upgrades (you are on the latest so as of now no big deal) it also make flashing a custom kernel a lot easier with no extra steps(source has not been release hence there is no jb custom kernels so no worries there at the moment) if all you want to do is flash a rom for now just htc dev unlock flash a custom recovery and you'll be good to go until an exploit is found
