I found a SIM at my work, I thought it could have fell out of a pocket/phone, so I inserted it into my phone to get the phone number from the SIM. However it appears it had a SIM lock. So I inserted MY SIM back into the phone and the SIM lock is still active.
It's a QWERTY lock.
I saw an unlock for the i9100 (and a few other Samsung phones) Windows application a few weeks ago but I can't find it any more.
I only have a cwm backup from the 29th of August, so not very recent.
Any chance I can get rid of the SIM lock only, without having to reset the phone or restore from my cwm backup?

Galaxsim unlock: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1846451
Swyped from my Samsung Galaxy SII
Supercharged ParanoidAndroid 2.12
Dorimanx kernel 5.76B
GT I9100
Next phone: Galaxy NOTE II
That galaxsim only appears to debrand / simunlock the phone, not remove the password.
Ok, so I've tried with Samsung Dive. I can "lock" my phone and then put in the passcode and it will let me access my phone. But when the phone locks the QWERTY password is still present.
I go into the security settings and it says the phone is "locked with a password". How can I remove this?

Haha, so yeah I ended up backing everything up and just reinstalling the ROM. And TBH, I'm glad I did. It all feels a lot smoother

This is experience of me.
About 1 month ago, I bricked my phone. When I found& flashed new firmware, it boots up. But I found something wrong. When I pulled down status bar, It say "Unregistered SIM". I tried many things I can but it say "Unregistered SIM" I found firmware is not Koodo/Telus firmware and I found it's European firmware! So before restore firmware via Odin, check firmware is correct.
U need to remove sim card and sd card before using odin
Otherwise sim card will be wiped
And sd card too

You could try a baseband change

The important thing is flash rom from other country via odin can cause IMEI mess up.
So find proper rom for your phone.

When I learned to flash stock roms I was told to always remove the sim and sd cards before. Once time I forgot to do it and when I noticed I was really scared to have messed up something, but all worked fine. Still it make no damage to take precautions and remove them before flashing with odin.

Never happened till now. Have flashed several times using odin. Only problem is, I get boot loops everytime I flash, but it is solved by clearing user data from recovery.

That happened to me too with one package roms. I solved it by flashing any full package stock rom and then flashing the stock rom I want (if it is one package), and the boot loop will be gone.
The wipe data from recovery its a fix of the boot loop, but still I dont like it get looped in the first start, it makes me think something went wrong in the flashing so I prefer to use the first solution I explained, even if it takes longer

So does anyone have a fix for this? I flash every rom i come across just to see which is most stable with the best looking UI and latest kernel. Bootloop is always expected but not a prob with stock firmware at hand, or use a full port rom for fast flash without pc.
Hi
I'm having a problem where my S3 go into bootloop after backing up and restoring efs using Nitrality
I can go into recovery mode and download mode
I have tried Factory Reset, delete cache and flashing stock rom 4.1.2 using Odin, it was succesfull but my S3 still go into bootloop
Any tips?
Thanks
are you sure you flashed the correct rom? are you sure it's the i9300?
if you flashed a stock rom, did a factory reset, and it's not working, send it in
I forgot to mention that I've also restore my backup through recovery mode and the bootloop problem still exist
I'm thinking about bringing my phone to Samsung Service Center but I can't because my binary counter aren't zero
Is there anyway using triangle away through recovery mode or Odin?
I think I've flashed the correct rom because I've used it before
Thanks
Just did a quick search and came across this. It says its a solution, i guess you have nothing else to loose.

I'm afraid i don't, a long shot but you could try flashing a 4.0.4 official firmware to see if that does anything. i had the same problem with my Tab 2 (not saying that this will work on the I9300) and i flashed back to 4.0.4 let it boot, then rooted it and flashed up to 4.1.2.
Good luck.

I know that, it's just that I heard Samsung blacklist old bootloader on 4.1.2 update so you can't install older bootloader
that's why I'm kinda afraid this trick wouldn't work because of it
Thanks for your help
Well, I was using the sungsonic rom on my Tab 2. With my S3 I did run 4.2.1 and my bluetooth and wifi AP didn't work which I read was possibly a bootloader issue and the fix was to flash back to 4.0.4 with odin and rooted then flashed to 4.1.2 and that fixed it for me.
Give it a go and let us know how you get on.
I've just flash my phone using ICS stock ROM and it work again
but now I have a new problem
1.my stock lockscreen doesn't work
2.when I press the power button it turn off my phone instead of giving me an option to turn off, restart, go into plan mode etc
3.I can't use my sim card because the phone doesn't start the program where I have to insert my simcard pin
Any idea what I should do now?
not sure about those. but for the sim have you gone to settings - security - sim card lock and had a look at the options there?

Hi thanks,
I went completely back to stock and tried a t-mobile (uk) sim and after going through manual network selection I have got that to work.
The only problem is that I am not on t-mobile but im on the three network. I tried a three sim and the phone loads up but again no signal.
When i bought the phone it was meant to be locked but when i put the three sim in it does not ask for an unlock code?

Hey
I bought a used s3 so i dont have any idea whether the phone is carrier locked or not but it was rooted when i got it and was on 4.0.4 i wanted to update it and it took me quite sometime to figure it out
I tried odin and many other softwares in start but no success anyhow later on one night my phone was about to turn off and i had to keep it on so i removed the battery stats and the next morning whenever i made a call the call would last for about 6 mins and in the same time cell would show a message i.e. process.adroid.com.phone has stopped working when i pressed OK the signals would go away and after 2-3 secs they would come back on the same hand when somebody called me i wasnt able to pick their calls because the same message i.e. process.adroid.com.phone has stopped working would pop up.
Anyhow finally after 4-5 days i thought of flashing a custom rom becuz i though i had corrupted my modem so i downloaded this file
downloadandroidrom.com/file/GalaxyS3/roms/leaked4.2.2/Rooted-I9300XXUFME3-4.2.2.zip
and flashed it. It was in hebrew i guess and after flashing it i stopped getting sound on call both when i received one or made one. I got a YELLOW BOX as well on home screen and app screen. Rest was working fine sim card was detected, i could use whatsapp, listen to songs, wifi worked fine, in short everything except calling worked fine
Then a friend of mine told me that i had installed a wrong rom so he gave me a link and i flashed this rom this time
omega-roms.net/blog/?page_id=763
Version 43.5
I.e. Jb 4.1.2
After flashing this rom i am still getting the yellow box that i got when i flashed my phone to 4.2.2 and i m stuck with emergency calls only everything else works fine. I have checked emei it matches that on the back of phone
Information regarding my phone is
Model Number: GT-I9300

Older baseband was

You may want to go back to the stock rom using Odin and see if this fixes the issue. That is the only thing I can suggest at this point since you said you've done everything else. When you bought this phone did you swap the sim card? You may also want to get that replaced and see if that works. Good luck.

About hardware problem. How can you say that? I could make a call 6 mins long and couldnt receive it on my prev 4.0.4 version then later on on Jb 4.2.2 i was able to make calls but with no sound but now i get emergency calls only So this is not a hardware problem and the baseband has changed can it be the reason?
The app says the phone is unlocked so is it actually unlocked or is there any hard secondary lock which this app is not able to detect?

Please read the rules this is not a fix your phone service centre . If you want help don't be rude . Start at the beginning the original post is confusing and much of the process carried out are wrong . Alternative if you are rooted and have CWM recovery is to format sd card system cache data and preload . Boot to download mode and flash stock rom via Odin . So I have gone from stock 4.2.2 to stock 4.1.2 flashing with Odin. Got stuck in a boot loop so had to go to android recovery and factory reset. Then I tried using titanium backup to restore my apps but that didn't work fully and it got stuck in a boot loop on the reboot. Factory reset again and seems to be working fine now. Phone is rooted using Kingo Android Root and used Titanium Backup again for just one app and it worked fine.
Installed BusyBox and GalaxSim Unlock to unlock the phone and an error message saying that it's unable to read nv data shows up. Restored an efs backup and that did nothing. Also tried using the 8#197 code to no avail. Got that the menu didn't exist and command is 186 after a few clicks.
Any advice? Flash it again?

Sim unlock. Most of that was just background info. GalaxSim Unlock gives me an "Unable to read NV data" message. So the sim card isn't being read. Just gives me emergency calls.

I see. Already sent it to phone repair to see what can be done. If that doesn't work I guess I'll go back to Ice Cream Sandwich and see if it can be read then.
Needed some rewriting of info in the phone but fixed for the most past anyway. Oh well.
