I am reporting this from the SU forums as I never got a responce there.
I have an issue with my Sprint Evo 3D that started soon after upgrading to the official ICS update.
When I am in an area with 4g WiMAX coverage (San Antonio) my phone will constantly turn on and off the 4g antenna. It says scanning for signal, then connecting to sprint, then it turns off. After a couple seconds it turns back on and does it all over again. It will do this all day long if I am in an area with 4g coverage.
As soon as I leave San Antonio city limits and get out of range of 4g the radio will stay on but it will of course say not connected.
Restarting the phone does nothing. I havn't installed any new apps, but several of them have been updated. I don't have any apps installed that I think would effect my connections. I have Network Monitor Mini installed but I have had it installed ever since I got the phone (Couple months after release) and the 4g issue is something recent. I have also updated The PRL and profile.
Does anyone have any recommendations for anything I can try to fix this issue?
Thanks,
-Chris
Maybe one of your apps isn't ICS compatible. Are you rooted? You could try removing apps or factory reset. Is definitely not common afaik. My dad has a stock ICS 3d and hasn't mentioned having this issue.

All of the apps I have installed that did not come with the phone's stock ICS ROM work without any problems, so I assume they are ICS compatible. My phone isn't rooted either.
I'll wait for a few more replies before I do a factory reset. Is there a way to backup my app data without being rooted?
I understand about the reset. You can back up your data if you temp root first (unless there is an app that can do it without root, but I don't think there is). A word of warning though. When I temp rooted, my phone bootlooped so I was unable to backup any data.

I wanted to bump this thread to see if I can get any more replies before I reset my phone.
I have uninstalled all of the apps that I have not used recently to try and see if any of them caused this problem, but that didn't change anything.
Most of my apps are cloud based apps, so I only need to log into them to restore my data. There are a few apps that I would like to save the data for though. If anyone knows of a way to manual copy the data to my computer, please let me know. The apps I want to save the data for are:
1. Modern Combat 3
2. Dead Space
3. Osmos HD
4. ICE
5. FuelLog
6. Map Rules FREE
7. Alarm Droid
8. Fieldrunners
9. NOVA 3
10. Reckless Racing 2
11. Shadowgun
12. Zenonia 3
13. Zen Bound 2
I don't mind rooting my phone, but the last time I checked my hboot would not allow an easy root. It required using the wire trick or using a linux live CD. Of course now since I have the newest update, the hboot has probably changed and those methods may not work anymore.
Could just be your area call sprint and get ur msl number then
Dial ##3282## and put msl as password go to edit
Then restore data and let phone reboot

Just in case sprint wants to give you **** about giving you your msl code here's a quick and easy guide that will have your phone s-off and rooted http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1889438 . After you obtain root I suggest using titanium backup to backup your games and data. There's a app called msl reader that will give you the easist way to get your msl code without jumping through hoops with sprint or cdma workshop. If a data restore doesnt work, and you want to have that stock sense look there's a few custom sense roms that will have that plus everything tweaked out under the hood. Meanrom ics from mike, cool sense from coolexe and common sense from beneath-a-burning-turtle all of which can be found in the cdma development section
Oh I forgot to mention, these roms have 4g working properly
What does the msl allow me to do? The poster above (who's account is now disabled, so I do not expect him to reply) mentioned using the msl to edit and restore data.
Does this mean that using his directions will wipe my phone and return it back to factory, or is he referring to a different kind of data to be restored?
Another thing I notice now is that 3g has been horribly slow inside the city limits. I use to be able to get 1-3 mbps download speeds and a ping of around 60-100ms, but now I can barely get above 400kbps and lower than 350ms latency. Outside the city limits when I am at home (north of SA) my 3g speeds return back to normal.
I plan on stopping by the Sprint store tomorrow or Friday and having their techs look at the phone. Luckily it is an actual Sprint corporate store, and not a third party reseller. (I'll never use a third party again, way to many headaches and broken promises)

I got my msl question answered today.
I stopped by the Sprint store on the way home and had one of their techs take a look at my phone. He used my msl to reset the data connections but that did not fix anything.
After that he took the phone apart and then replaced the antenna but that did not work either.
While I was there I also told him about the poor 3g performance while in the city limits of San Antonio. We found out that it appears to be a network issue after I asked him if he could test his 3g speed on his own phone (The new Evo 4g LTE) and his 3g speed test only netted him a 50kbps download speed, with a 500ms ping. My phone scored a little higher than his, but still only achieved 200kbps. I told him that the 3g speed has been slow for a month in San Antonio, but it works perfectly fine once I leave the city limits. He said that they have not received any complaints from other people about slow performance, which he thought was odd if this problem has been going on for so long.
The last thing he said he could try was a factory reset, but I told him that I wanted to try some other things first.
He suggested that I called Sprint using *2 to let them know about my issue. He said that they should be able to tell me if my problems are caused by network issues. My phone hasn't been the first phone he has seen that would not connect to 4g, but he said that issue happened last year and no one else has had the problem recently. The tech sitting next to him had an Evo 3D and he said that he has had no issues with connecting to 4G on it. He was even using 4G on his Evo 3D at the time and said his connection speed was fast.
There is some good news though. The tech agreed to order a replacement phone for me. He explained that I don't have to pay the deductible as the deductible only applies to stolen, lost, or damaged phones. I told him that I would called Sprint first, and then visit the store again to order a replacement phone if Sprint tech support is unable to figure out the problem.

Sorry, forgot to give an update.
I ended up not having to replace my phone. Since I was going to replace my phone, I went ahead and reset my phone back to factory. I was unable to figure out a way to backup my app data so I just bit the bullet and took the loss. Although really the only thing I wanted to save were mostly game save files. Everything else I could easily restore manually. After the factory reset, my phone was able to connect to 4G again.
I stopped by the store on my way home and talk to the tech to let him know that my phone started connecting to 4G again after the reset so that he could take my name off of the phone they were holding for me.
Not really sure why the update to ICS caused this bug, but I am glad I can stream Netflix and Crunchyroll between my classes again. I have gone ahead and performed the HTC dev unlock, but I am now just trying to find the best way to gain root so that I can install Titanium Backup so that if this ever happens again I can backup my data this time.
Luckily, it looks like I can gain root without needing S-OFF, so I do not need to perform that wire trick.

Hello Friend Citizen! You have come to this thread because your 3g is not working correctly. You may have a 1x lock or even no data at all. It is important that you follow these steps:
1. DO NOT PANIC
2. DO NOT DECIDE TO BADMOUTH A ROM/RADIO/KERNEL ETC. (its not their fault. Honestly!)
3. Breathe.
4. See step 1.
Now that we've gone that far, let me first say that VZW is having network issues. Due to these issues, they have been causing phones in different areas and even random phones (not always your friends in the same area) to lose 3g. This is affecting the Fascinate as well as the ThunderBolt, the PALM PRE and many other verizon 3g and 4g phones.
On the offchance that it is actually a modem problem, simply backup your rom and restore to stock via odin. Test out your 3g and if it is still lost, relax and restore your rom and wait for VZW to get their act together.
You can use the DL09 package in this thread to test the stock radio.

Probably not the correct place to post this, but great thread
yeah, mine literally went out in the last 30 minutes, tried *228 option 1 and after rebooting nothing changed....but now according to the network *228 is "not a valid number"
anyone want to conspire about how this could be a part of implementing the "if you're rooted we will deny you data access" drama that was floating around recently?
Nahh...
Double-checked with a coworker who also has a Fascinate. Bone-stock DL09 and she has no data right now, as well.
I've gone back to DL09 several time running stock, unlock, non-root...and 3G still wacked.
Let it OTA update to ED01 stock (took damn 3 hours) and still wacked
Took it to verizon store to show them a vanilla stock ED01 with 3G issue. They confirmed the hardware was hosed and will be sending me a new one.
I also went to the Verizon store an hour ago to have my phone looked at. The rep called a tech and apparently he said that my phone wasn't receiving any data from their side. So he reset my data and wamo.. pages are loading, the market works, and I'm still on dl09 modem. Going to flash EC01 and see what happens. Definintly something wrong on their side of this.
any links to the data outage information?

I don't think it's the hardware, Verizon is having confirmed data issues. Their 4G network went down earlier today and all devices fell back to 3G, which is now having issues. Mine actually came back a little while ago only to disappear again....it's a flaky network at this point. The guy at the Verizon store doesn't have the ability to assure you your hardware is hosed. That was opinion.
On the phone with a tech right now. Let's see what they can do for me.

With my coworker having the same issue on her untouched DL09, tech support believes it to be a network issue.
He escalated a ticket and hopefully will call back soon.

just took a poll in the office out of the 5 devices I checked 2 are stuck on 1x (a fasc and a tunabolt). The other three (2 fasc and one inc) are fine.
weird how random it is... all 5 devices are rooted, rom'ed etc..
3G is starting to come back for me. Its sketchy and slow but before as soon as it would pop up if I tried to use it it would flake out. Now it works most of the time but its like its really under a heavy load.

its a 4g problem which is a different spectrum than 3g i have a feeling its a rooted phone acknowledgment verizon is scanning for and then locking out data as they assume we are tethering free and taking up too much data communication ive called tech support they didnt confirm any of this however no outages in my area and have rebooted and updated settings to my device from there end so ill let ya know if it worked ... currently back to stock with froyo update that took 2 hours to download at 1x wtf... i hope im just being paranoid..

no its not. its the same thing. there is no functioning 4g network in the world. the "4g" that the networks are feeding us is just a slightly increase bandwidth aloted to certian phones. 4g is a gigabit network and requires different hardware in the towers. the load of crap that the networks are shoveling as "4g" is basiclly the same as you calling your cable company and increasing your cable modem speed. they are simply increasing the landline bandwidth to allow for increased use.
the problem comes from vzw not properly anticipating bandwidth demands after "4g" was launched.
Honestly I lost my 3G while messing around in the **772. I ended up just calling tech. They had to remove what ever identifys me on there 3g network. Then reactivate.. in seconds my 3g became active.... Though the tech was confused to why I was showing me roaming.... and yes data roaming was unchecked and system select set to home... But never the less I'm good now.....

Anyone been successful using their Airave with their Evo 3d?
I am successful it but requires (1) toggling roaming mode to Sprint only, (2) hard reset (remove battery) and (3) update PRL---EVERY TIME I want to get on Airave....worse, if I leave the Airave coverage, my data keeps working, but I can't make or receive phone calls--have to do ANOTHER Hard reset + PRL update. Since I have my 3VO in an Otterbox Defender case, it really makes the entire situation NOT WORTH IT...(Already been on tech support for 4+ hours on this issue...)
Oh and my wife's Samsung Restore won't even connect at ALL lol....
So has anyone been able to seamlessly enter/exit their airave coverage on the 3VO without any hassles?
Thanks in advance!

As far as I can tell, my Evo 3d switches to/from the Airave just fine. Admittedly, I almost never talk on the phone. I don't know how well it's working.
What model of Airave do you have? I've got one of the originals.
Woah.....dude I'm jealous. Mine is a HubBub C1 600 RT...I'm assuming it's a fairly recent model as I just received it and it looked new...it's labeled "Airvana" as well. Also, you can tell if you're making your call on Airave or not by listening for a few extra tones at the beginning of an outgoing call, or by simply dialing *99 and it'll tell you if you're on the Airave network.
So maybe only the newer models are ****ed up with Android?? Maybe I should call and request an older model...
mine works the same way the evo4g did; if you start a call on the airrave, and leave the house/area, the call will probably drop off; if you start a call outside of airrave coverage, and them come into the house, you do NOT lose any calls..
I have the new airave
OK, so long story short, these units ARE working with Evo 3D/Android 2.3 etc..........
....this is so ****ing annoying. If it works for you all it should work for me. I have no idea why it isn't. I guess I'll just be patient....or maybe I should ask them to send me another unit, hmm....

Ah gotcha. Well even if it dropped calls as I was leaving or entering the coverage area that would be fine...it's the hard reboot + prl update that's killing me...
I think you have a bad unit...either the phone or the airvana...I am running great with mine, and don't drop calls coming or going. 3G works great (when I'm not using my wifi network) and I am showing full bars for service. I would call sprint and have them resolve this, something needs to be replaced.
Mine works in and out. Just mine though. Everyone else here connects fine. (2 evo 3ds & 3 evos)

Mine has never been able to acquire the airave when I arrive home. From what I read here that is not normal?

I had one of the first Airvana's when they came out. It wouldn't work with my 3D for some reason. Sprint tech support shipped me a new one and it works perfectly, I don't know if I had a firmware issue or something, but the new one works perfectly.
I've had my airwave by sprint since the samsung instincts came out and never had a problem with it unless the power or cable went out...keep in mind that ONLY cdma phones will work with it,a broadband phone like the renagade 950(worst phone ever made anyway)won't work....maybe your unit is bad,it also has to be activated,it costs $4.95 amonth but well worth it....hope this helps alittle
hope mine isn't a bad apple when it arrives spent like my whole day off last fridayon phone and in corporate store with various sprint agents *****ing cause they gave me a run around about getting it for free as i lost all my reception once i switched from evo4g to the evo 3d in my apartment .You have to be a ***** but they eventually said they would ship me mine... waiting patiently for it to arrive atm
if i at least received my text messages in a timely fashion as i did on my evo and such in apartment i wouldn't care but the evo3d has 3 bars less the the evo4g did meaning no bars inside so i had to ask for one as i wasn't accepting the switch back to evo4g they suggested
and was very surprised they were so hard to work with they usually are my favorite reps to deal with tbh
i had 4 people i had to talk too.. they even gave the corporate rep the run around when in doubt demand a manager after u nicely ask for the employee number that always seems to get it done

I hope the Airave helps you too--but have you considered that your phone is bad? I don't think I've heard widespread reports of 3D being worse reception than the 4G...
Also, there are a few semi-hacks (using CDMA workshop, QPST, etc) that can help speed up your internet or put you on roaming to better towers----check out the development section
More thoughts
So I just got off the phone with customer support; I was told to reset it one more time and see if that helps; if not, to call back in and they'd send a replacement.
To recap, the issues I've been having are:
1) Evo 3D must have PRL update every time I come home to find the airave
2) Airave only gives 5 bars if I'm 5 feet away. 20 feet away + a wall = 2 bars again!
3) I've never successfully transferred a call either into or out of Airave--if I leave the house the phone cuts off 100% of the time
4) Wife's Samsung Restore has never been able to connect to Airave at all
All these stack up to my thinking it's the unit itself--especially since others have said their unit works fine w/ the Evo.
Questions:
1) Has anyone else reset their unit? Did the lights or anything change, because mine didn't.
2) Has anyone noticed a difference (Either in wifi speed or airave performance) between plugging airave into your wireless router as opposed to directly in your modem (w/ wireless connected to airave)?
Thanks for any help. I'm hoping my discussion here will help others trying to navigate the same bull****.

comcast here 50mbps i pay for
Modem>Airave>airport extreme base station> speedtest at 40mbps
Modem>Airport extreme base station>speedest 55mbps
nothign was uplaodign downloading on the network at the time
what they told me to do wasnt needed but added below for reference
Apple Airport Extreme
The airport extreme router does not have a DMZ instead you would set up for default host
1. Go into the Macintosh HD
2. Go to Applications>Utilities and select Airport Utility
3. Select Manual Setup.
4. Go to Advanced>Logs and Statistics>DHCP Clients and verify the IP address for the AIRAVE.
5. Go to Internet>NAT, check the box for ?Enable default host at? and place the IP address of the AIRAVE in that box.
Hit Update and powercycle the base station.

Does your Evo 3D have Google Voice?
Mine does, so that texts/voicemails go thru GV; but it's still my Sprint cell # being used.
In the past two weeks, my mobile data has been down. I don't believe it to be an outage in my area due to the duration of the problem, and the inconsistency with other Verizon Wireless phones. I was running Juice Defender for a while, and every now and then I would notice that the Mobile Network would drop. Toggling the Mobile Network would not fix the problem, either. I usually cleaned out my cached data for the Juice Defender app, turned the app off, then toggled airplane mode once. (Sometimes just toggling Airplane Mode wouldn't fix it, therefore I had to clear the cache for the app.) Now this fails to work. I cannot get my mobile network to connect by any conventional means. When I receive MMS messages, my network will connect long enough to download the attachment. Also when I do a search for a Software Update, it connects just long enough to tell me there aren't any updates for my phone. I've tried updating my PRL with *228 and I've even tried *18 from a post over at Droid Forums. Neither work. I've removed the battery and SIM Card as suggested in some other threads here at XDA. I've also removed the Juice Defender app.
The phone is not rooted and has never been rooted with the Temp Root methods. I'm not opposed to rooting, but if I root, I'm gonna perm root and I would rather not have to factory reset my phone if I don't have to right now. I'm mainly posting this because I cannot find anyone online with the same issue that I am having. Any help would be appreciated. Personally, I think its an issue with Dalvik-VM. I can attach a copy of my LogCat if needed. Any ideas on my issue? Thanks in advance!
Check your power settings, if you are in economy mode it will mess with your data connection.
I have a paid version of JuiceDefender, it has caused me so many problems I don't even bother to install it anymore.

I also have the same issue, tried a couple basebands and could not fix it. I ended up not using it...
Every once in a while my mobile network or just lte somehow gets turned off and I have to turn it back on, but that's rare.
I tried juIce Defender and also had problems losing my connection so I uninstalled it. Plus the settings were so confusing to me. I'm using Green Power now and that seems fine.
You didn't mention mhs so I assume you're not using it but that has known connection issues.

Did you ever try doing a factory reset? I'm curious to know if that will fix it.

Juice Defender gave me fits, too. I'm not using my phone as a Mobile Hotspot, either.
I kinda think its my ROM. I'll play around with some stuff, or I'll just get around to doing a factory reset and see if that fixes the problem. I'll post any solutions here for others.
Are you in a good 4g area? If you scroll down the general section here, you will find my topic. If you use 3g more than 4g, there is a post in that thread about##778#. It helped me. Sorry if it doesn't help you, Cheers.

I just wanted to let you know that I'm having this problem as well. I AM rooted and running CleanRom, but my daughter has a non rooted Bionic, and both of us suffered a complete loss of data today. My husband's rooted Rezound is fine.
I took my phone into Verizon today, and after initially just trying to swap out the phone (which I wouldn't allow them to do, it took me too long to get my phone the way I want it), they finally switched out the 4G sim card, and the data came back instantly.
When my daughter leaves school today, she will get her 4G card swapped out as well, and we'll see if it is in fact a network connectivity problem.
It seems to me that our 4G phones has a lot of trouble switching from wifi to 3G/4G service.

I will +1 this. My work WiFi is spotty, and so the phone falls in and out of WiFi. The Rezound HATES that and usually leaves me with no connectivity. There is definitely a WiFi->Mobile Network issue.
Try doing a factory reset. Could be a bad device... Im getting amazing reception on mine. I havent even seen my 3G or 1x icons yet. Constant 4G lock.
Forget what I said, my data connection has been dropped again for the past thirty minutes and there's no way for me to get it back.
I'm going to try a factory reset. I *really* don't want to have to send my phone back because my husband is getting amazing coverage on his Rezound. However, we're still in the first week of our Verizon contract, and if this looks like it will be a standing issue, then we'll have to cancel and go crawling back to horrible Sprint.

I think I'm going to try doing this. How painful was it for you to convince them to give you another SIM Card?
Edit: Just read your last post. Please let me know what a factory reset does for you.
They had no issues at all swapping out my 4G card, they certainly couldn't let me walk out of the store with no signal. They knew they had to try something.
The factory reset on the phone appeared to work. I've been steadily switching it from wifi to data, and the data signal picks up, albeit a tad bit slow. Only thing is, I still don't really get 4g, while my husband's Rezound has a great signal.
I got insurance on the phone, so I'll put up with it as long as I can before I start screaming at Verizon.
Good to hear. I'm going to try to switch out my SIM card today and see if that fixes it. I thought maybe it was something with the ROM, seeing as how my 3G will turn on whenever I need to send an MMS message, so a factory reset made sense to me. I just don't want to do it. Lol. Thanks for the info!
I've experienced it twice in the last 24hrs and it just happened to be right after I installed and used LTE OnOff. Don't know if there might be a connection there. I keep forgetting this phone has the ability to switch 4g/3G unlike the TBolt. Needless to say, that app is no longer on the phone.
KORM via the beast known as the Rezound.
I had an issue with the mobile network just dropping in and out (other people in the room did not lose signal). We currently don't have 4G and it is 3G only. I did a factory reset of the phone, but it continued to occur. Took the phone back to Verizon store to exchange it (it was 1 week old). At first they weren't going to and gave me a run around but in the end exchanged it. Have had no problems with new phone.
My girlfriend's Bionic keeps dropping 4G more frequently than my Rezound. I get this problem too though. Usually a toggle of Airplane Mode fixes it...but it's pretty damn annoying. Happens once or twice a day!
A Factory Reset fixed it. Everything went smoothly, too. I backed up all my SMS Messages with HTC's Messaging app, and got my network back as soon as I restored it and set everything back up. Hopefully this will help anyone else who might have had the same problem.
I've been side by side with a fresh Rezound and watched both of them jump from 4g to 1x to 3g and sometimes never 3g. The problems were a million times worse with my droid charge as it's a combination of the handsets and the towers.

Hmmm
I have this happen if I am in an area with NO signal (such as the basement level of my office building) for long time. Only a reboot will bring back data. Does not happen often (maybe 2ce in a month and a half).
I am intrigued by the person who blames the install of LTEOnOff. I have it installed but do not use it. Maybe if I ever have to hard reset (such as if ever run the unlock), I will not reinstall that program.
I've had my Evo LTE since launch, and have had call issues since the beginning. I came from the OG Evo, and knew Sprint had bad coverage in some areas around me; but this has been much much worse. I would say 4 out 5 calls drop immediately upon connection. I will have half or more signal when I call and as soon as it connects it drops off and I look and there are 0 bars. Oh, I'm also not in a town which has the updated network/LTE. I had done the HTC Unlock immediately, so I was nervous about trying to take my phone back. But thanks to this amazing guide, I can get it back to stock. Has anyone else had issues like this fixed by getting a new phone?
My main question is who do I take it back to? I have the BB Black Tie insurance, so I was thinking that would be easiest/quickest exchange. But I wasn't sure how they would react since there is nothing visibly wrong with the phone. And I'm sure as soon as I get in Best Buy it will work flawlessly .
are you in an area that is currently undergoing Network vision updates? In my area (Chicago suburbs), sprint acknowledged that the NV upgrades were causing problems.
I constantly get "no data connection" when I have 3 bars (not roaming) :/

No, I'm in Oklahoma and we don't even have a date for the upgrades yet .

I have not. I'm assuming it's okay to do this running S-Off and custom Rom (CM10)?
I have also noticed terrible 3G speeds, much much worse than my OG Evo.

I'm in north okc and have the exact same issue. I've been in numerous lengthy phone calls with sprint about this and I'm on my second phone to no avail. My girls phone is the same. This phone does not like the okc area whatsoever. I remember my 3d was the same. I am currently at the point of leaving sprint for this. I love this phone but its driving me crazy. And let's not get into peak hours data drop.... I'm so frustrated with sprint right now.

Well, I think I'm going to go back full stock tomorrow and run it by a Sprint repair store. Guys in IRC channel recommended I have them check my radios. I work with a guy who has a Samsung on Sprint and doesn't have great signal, but better than mine! I'm so torn right now, I know if i switched to Verizon I'd have great LTE signal all over town, but I wanted to support Sprint and see if they could fix their network. Now I'm regretting it but stuck in contract. But then again if I were to switch, there aren't really any phones I'm interested in on Verizon...
I love this phone but, I am.pissed and tired of repair stores, and sprint technical, and supervisors, and credits. They can see that most of my disconnects are device related and still won't switch me to another device or something. I really don't even want to switch. But, I totally believe its network being upgraded and this device is designed for something other than what's offered in my area.

Send it in to htc and have them fix it. They warranty it for a year.
I had one that dropped calls but my second one is perfect.
Well, I'm going to try to get to the Sprint store later this afternoon. Will update here with result. If it's just their **** network, think they might let me out of contract if I ***** enough? If they do, then where do I go? I freaking love this phone, but if it can't make phone calls I can't keep it...
--Update--
I went to a Sprint store on Saturday to see what they said. As soon as I mentioned dropped calls and crappy speeds he started apologizing. Evidently they have begun the network update in Oklahoma, which means that a lot of towers are down or not at normal capacity. He said this has been going on most of the year and that the network should be back at normal capacity by the end of the year. He also said he had heard LTE by June-July of 2013, but was just a rumor. He reset my profile and PRL and said it might help. I'm going to stick it out as of now and hope they can produce a solid LTE network. I do really love Sprint and their fight for unlimited data, just hope they keep it up.
Dropped Calls
I, too, have had terrible luck with calls dropping with this phone. I was on the OG EVO and did not have these issues at all. From looking at this site s4gru.com I do not believe that my area (Indy) should be under any network updating as of yet. However, it also looks like Oklahoma should not be, either - so maybe they started early
In the end...my old EVO did not have issues up to the day I upgraded, and the new EVO has had issues since day 1. I do not believe this is a network issue, but more of a hardware/radio/phone design issue. I hoped the newest updates (including radio) would help, but I am still dropping calls way too often.
I've been perma-roaming due to wanting to get out of the sprint contract. For the past week my phone hasn't been able to get 3g connection at all, on the latest PRL or verizon ones. I called sprint and asked them about it on Tuesday, they said they're having tower upgrades in the area and they're installing 4g. Riiiiight. They said they'll call sunday to check back and credit me for the days the connection wasn't working, have not heard back. I've tried the latest sprint PRL this morning, and I can now get 3g sprint data, but trying to force it to roam now the mobile data either gets stuck on "turning on" or goes straight to disconnected.
Any ideas if sprint can literally cut you off from roaming? I did 15gb of roaming last month and did 2.3gb this month before it stopped working.
Anyone in the Phoenix area who is using any PRLs with Verizon roaming working?
And last but not least, what's the dialer code to attempt a hands free activation or reset the data profile?
Should I just call sprint and complain I can't roam?

Update, after resetting the phone and doing all that, it wouldn't connect to any kind of 3g. Unrooted it took it back to sprint, they replaced it for 50 bucks. The replacement phone does the exact same thing. They claim there's nothing placed on the account blocking me from using data, but I'll wait for the next replacement now, and if that one doesn't work still, I will be raising all kinds of hell. They apparently don't have another account to activate the phone under to try it... kind of hard to believe with all of those phones in the store active. Sigh...

Weird even after a hard reset ##786#? Are you in a good service area?
Flowed from my Jewel using Tapatalk 2
Yep, was in a good service area, well, as good as Phoenix can be called. The third phone apparently did the trick. I am back, rooted, and downloading torrents again to run up roaming as much as possible . I can't believe how bad their tech support is... When they tell me to go to the store because they can do things they cannot do with me over the phone (other phone mind you), and you go in the store and they do a master reset and then go, yep, it's bad... Then when the replacement comes in, does the same thing, and they tell me to call tech support which then tells me to go back in the store... I'm firmly convinced it was a layer 8 error...
