No Data Connection! - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

Hello all! I am need of assistance, I recently traded my black rooted s-off lte for a white unrooted ota having beast. After letting Sprint do their thing we weren't able to successfully have data on his phone. I have walked the guy through nandroiding back into a ROM I had and he updated the PRL successfully but, had an issue connecting still. He tried updating the Profile with no luck. Here is a little info:
BASEBAND:1.05.11.06.06
PRL VERSION: 25006
S-OFF
Stock w/Goodies 2.10 is the Sense ROM he is using.
what are my options?

call sprint and have them as they say "refresh" your services. had the same problem last weekend. you could try a ##72786# and reset it and let it go through the hands free activation and see if they will fix it.

I tried that too.Currently on the phone with Sprint now. So the phone being rooted has nothing to do with it not updating correct?

nope, i think there system was having problems the night i was on with them. my phone would go through the hand free just fine but on there end it was saying it still wasnt completed. they ended up having to "push" so they say to my phone and it finally showed completed on there end. i had my data back as soon as he said it showed complete on his end.
i did all this rooted on tranquility rom.

Thanks for being helpful.

Still no luck I was given the advice to update the radios. Would this fix my issue? Whats Sprints stance on it being rooted. I know my warranty is
void but will they still try to fix it?

do the##3282# go to edit then put the msl....select data profile....active profile put a 1 press menu select commit modifications....the do the##72786# that should work...if it didn't work try updating your profile over WiFi

[Q] Update Roaming if rooted? Ok or not?

The Thunderbolt is the first phone that I have rooted so I am still new to this. Can I still use the Verizon *228 to update roaming or will that mess up something since I am rooted? I appreciate your help.
Thanks,
Shea
*228 doesnt work on the thunderbolt..it runs off a sim card...there has been talk that trying *228 may negatively affect the sim..your more than welcome to search...
Read somewhere that you actually can't hit *228 on the Thunderbolt--phone won't allow it. Haven't tried it myself though...as stated its supposed to screw up the phone.
Update roaming
Is it unnecessary to update the roaming on the TB?

I've tried it a couple times. It doesn't do anything. You hit 'send' and it just goes back to the dialer screen. Phone still works flawlessly.
If for some strange reason you are able to get *228 to work you will fry your SIM card. Don't do it. You thunderbolt is designed to update your roaming list (also known as PRL) every time it boots up. Hit a new city? Just reboot the phone and you should be good to go.
from what i have been reading and understand, the thunderbolt auto updates the PRL (roaming capabilities) upon boot if and updated one is available.

Unable to update dara profile/prl no matter what

I was flashed to ROCKO unlocked, and decided that I want to update my sprint stuff cause I wasn't able to on any custom stock ROM, it would stay on "Contacting Network" when I would try to update. So I SBF'd to 198_7 and unlocked again, and I am still not able to update my data profile or prl, still the "Contacting Network". My phone is activate, it just can't update profile/prl.
If I recall correctly, you have to have sprint push the profile update to you. I've read that people, who do stuff like switch roms get flagged in every their system. I think it was something asking the lines of security precaution. I'm pretty sure once you call, they can get your profile updated, then you should be able to update your prl.

^This exactly. Give sprint a ring. If thats still a no go try letting it activate and update through the Sprint Zone activation and updater app.
Thanks guys.
Would I have to lie and tell them that I never root or unlocked the bootloader/flashed other ROMS?
I've looked everwhere in Sprint Zone, and can't find the updater.
I personally have just told them that I was doing an OTA update and it had an issue or something along those lines lol they wont question too much, or atleast never have for me
IDK, I have trouble lying when it doesn't make sense lol. Could I mention that I'm trying to develops apps and need certain permissions etc. ?

It's activated(able to make calls, 3g, etc). It's either flagged like a previous poster has mentioned, or something about PDS partition, from doing all the SBF'ing flashing different roms etc.

Similar Problem Updating Profile/PRL
I am unrooted and for some reason when I go into the Sprint Zone App it tells me there is a Profile and PRL update but if I choose either it gets stuck in "Contacting Network" and all I can do is reboot.
I spoke to Sprint and they made me out an "eTicket" to take to the nearest Sprint "repair" store but I am without wheels at the moment and kinda hoping someone might know whats going on.
The lady I spoke to said that these was a problem with the nearest tower to me, that it was operating at 3/4 efficiency, and that may be why I can't get my phone to update? Has anyone been told this before and is this something that could be the problem or is it just BS?
She said that most likely I would get a replacement when I could take my phone to the Sprint store.
Someone had a similer problem in another thread and a got a reply from someone asking what their H/W version number was. On my phone under H/W version it says unavailable.
Why would that happen and if I could somehow fix that might that be the ultimate fix to my issue?
Any help would be great...This is really the only problem I'm having. I really like this phone. It is a beast. Being in a 4g area is pretty awesome and being able to get constant 8-10 Mb (outside) is worth every penny. In my house during daytime hours I can only get 2-3 Mb but thats pretty damn cool.
If the camera was just a little bit better at taking low-light pics, this might be one of those "near perfect" phones in my opinion.
By the way, everyone that contributes here is awesome. I love this community and all of XDA.
Thanks

[Q] HELP! from CM10 to Meanbean, lost 3G, Phone Signal & Parts Of Phone Identity

Sprint
hboot 1.12.0000
radio 112.11.1119
S-ON
Mean-Bean 1.9
Hi Guys. Been a lurker here for months and have never had problems because of all the great info here. I got one now that has me stumped.
Was running CM10 as daily for months. Connections were flaky at times so decided to move to MeanBean JB.
After installing Meanbean, everything works now but I lost 3G and phone signal. Even 4G data and WIFI works.
My wife has same phone but stock. When I compare our phone identity pages, mine is missing my phone # (unknown) and my PRL is listed a 0
I have several Nandroid backups from the past month. I can reload my latest CM10 nandroid and the signal problems don't get fixed. I have bounced back between Meanbean & CM10 backups and everything works but the 3G and
I don't mind losing root, so decided to go back to stock so I can take back to Sprint if needed. I down loaded pj75img.zip. from this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2074643. When I put it on SD card and install via the bootloader I get error "missing image or wrong image". If I try to install via fastboot USB it processes the whole file the FAILED:<remote:32 header error>.
My next step is to do RUU, but I have never done that and I have seen mixed reviews so I want to know if there is something else I can do. Mean bean is running perfectly if I could just get my signal back.
Thanks guys.
You may be able to call sprint to refresh your account.
Or have you tried "activate device" in settings? Prl and profile updates may help to.
It sounds like your phone lost connection to sprint's system.
Many lost data after s-offing and sprint just refreshes the account on their end.

Thanks NaterTots. I forgot to mention. I brought the phone to Sprint. Got a tech that was very willing to help even though he knew it was rooted. He tried to refresh and it did not work.

Non Rooted - Call Failure

A friend of mine has been having a problem with his phone. Its not rooted. This seems to be a known problem as he had this a year ago, he went to the sprint store and the guy flashed something that resolved it. He has data but no signal bars. When he makes a call he gets "call origination attempt failed" error. His phone was stolen, and he just got the replacement and now the problem is back. Tried updating profile/PRL to no avail. Kind of a strange problem so I figure someone would have the answer here. Any ideas?

Tell him to try a factory reset it. Then call sprint and have then reset the data connection.

Sorry - I left that out, we tried that as well. No change. Whats weird is the phone worked for a day, then stops, just like when he bought it new. Im guessing this doesnt happen rooted, since im sure 99% of the population on here is rooted. Supposedly its a common problem when the phone isnt rooted.
Rooted or not has no bearing on being able to make calls.
If the phone is fully stock, sprint has tools to see what's going on with it.
Has he tried refreshing his profile? Does he have data?

He has data which is weird. Just cant make calls. Browses the web just fine. He already called sprint who has no idea lol.
Sprint should have him try to clear his config. I can't remember the code off hand, ##786#, or ##72786#. It basically wipes the NAM profile settings associated with his account from the phone. On the next reboot, an OTA activation occurs.
This may be destructive in that one of those does a factory wipe too. I can't remember which.
He should ask for level2/3 support if the first tier person is helpless.

I do remember the last time, we did that and it made no change. The only thing that fixed it is he was told to go to a sprint store because they flash something special and it corrects the issue permanently. Which it did for him, until they sent him a new phone. Very weird issue.
If you've tried all the ideas posted here then I'd recommend just taking the phone into sprint or have them send your friend a new phone.

As a latest update - Sprint sent him now his 3rd phone and its been working for a little over a week. Guess it was hardware after all.

[Q] Phone Behaving as if De-Activated after DirtyRacun S-Off

Hello all,
First post on XDA; I've been searching for this issue for the past 4 hours, and found very little. I hope I haven't missed anything.
Long Story
Had a rooted phone, tried to flash JellyBAM; worked, except that kernel got messed up (touchscreen didn't work). Problem remained even after restoring HTC Sense. I assumed it was b/c my phone still had S-ON.
After successfully running DirtyRacun on my Evo 4g LTE, I flashed JellyBAM 7.6.2 (using TWRP 2.4.4.0, wiped Dalvik, Cache, Factory Reset & System first). Everything worked fine, except that there is no mobile network whatsoever. When booting JellyBAM, it prompts me to activate my phone:
"A special call needs to be made to activate your phone service. After pressing 'Activate', listen to the instructions provided to activate your phone."
I do this, but the problem is that I get an automated message: "Your account is not authorized to make calls to this phone number. If you would like to have additional capabilities added to your account, please call Customer Service."
This is the same message I get trying to make any phone call. Nothing (data, calls, etc) works on the mobile network now. I called Sprint to see if they could simply de-active then reactive my phone, but it appears to them as already activated. The tech I spoke w/ thinks I may have deleted the Sprint programming.
This sounds plausible, but what's REALLY WEIRD is that *2 still dials Sprint perfectly, and holding 1 still tries to check voicemail. So clearly some aspects of it connect with Sprint still. I have no idea what's messed up, unfortunately.
I don't believe JellyBAM is the culprit here, b/c after DirtyRacun but before flashing JellyBAM, I still had this problem.
Helpful Info
Android Version: 4.2.2
Radio Version: 1.12.11.1119
Kernel version: 3.0.73-g5d13a2c
JellyBAM 7.6.2
Question
Is there anything I can do to fix this so that my phone can reconnect with and use Sprint's mobile network? I'd really like to preserve JellyBAM, S-Off, and Root, given the amount of time and effort it took to get those working. Thank you so much, any help would be greatly appreciated.
First, try updating your radio.
I'd say to RUU back to stock and see if the problem persists. If it does then take it to Sprint and they should give you a replacement if you have the YEP. I had a similar but not so screwey situation, a few actually, like yours and when I lost all network Sprint replaced my phone. I've always had success dialing my voicemail after attempted activations and then my phone would kick back in within about 15 minutes while keep texting and calling my home phone.

Thank you for your response, I really appreciate the help.
I updated my radio, which went smoothly, but unfortunately it didn't work. What's frustrating is that I don't even know what the problem is. I know it isn't the ROM I flashed (since it had the same problem on HTC Sense before I flashed JellyBAM). It seems to have started after DirtyRacun S-Off process.
I'm still pretty noob so I don't know what else besides radio it could be. I'm really reluctant to try and restore my phone to stock due to the amount of time I spent learning to root and S-Off it. Wouldn't want that to be in vain, though I might not have a choice at this point.
Is there something I should try next?

Before calling sprint, Google the 4g lte dialer codes, I'm sure there is one that activates the wireless reactivation process (that was the case with my old gs3)

I know after achieving S-off, I had to call Sprint due to a security issue. I couldn't make calls or anything.
It was painless and took all of 5 minutes.
