After flashing SuperNexus ROM above and setting everything up...
I keep getting this "Sign in error for [Gmail Account Name]"
I'm not prompted for my password or anything, it just asks me to try again to connect or something like that and each time it fails. Doesn't affect anything (I think) but it's terribly annoying getting this notification so often.
The notification comes from Google Account Manager.
Any solutions guys?

I just got my X2. When I go to Settings -> About Phone -> System Updates I get a message that says "Motorola Account Required" with an option to press Setup to create an account.
So, I press Setup, then get a message that says "Communicating with server. Please wait", followed by (usually 20 seconds later) a message that says "Connection Failed, In order to complete setup you need a data connection." I know I have a data connection, I can send/receive email, browse the web, etc. I also try to connect to WiFi, and it gives me the same message.
Has anyone else run into this? I really want to get 2.3 because 2.2.2 is giving me some issues. Will 2.3 automatically push to me at some point?
Is there a small blue triangle in your status bar? If so (or even if not) pull up the dialer, dial *228, and select option 1. When the setup finishes, dial *228 again, and select option 2.
That should get you going.
I use the HTC mail app to get imap Gmail and Yahoo. Since yesterday I am getting a Login Failure on my Gmail account. Yahoo is still working. I tried re-entering my login and password, but it fails. Is anyone else experiencing this? Anyone have an idea for a fix? Relevant rom/kernel info in sig. Thanks.
try changing your password i have had something similar happen to me and that is how i fixed my problem aslo try and wipe the data in the app and then try you email accounts again
I've had this happen before and changed the password as you suggested and it worked, however, I'd rather not have to change everytime this happens. Also, I cannot clear data or cache even after force stopping the app.

yeah i dont blame you for not wanting to change your password all the time.what does it do when you try to wipe the data?
Might try going into application settings/gmail and clearing the data...worth a shot.
not resolved, wiping everthing, install new rom, reset password...
You could also verify that the settings are correct, go to mail app and setting and account settings and just go through and verify all is well, I myself have had on occasion login issues and going through the settings seemed to cure the issue

Are you using HTC mail apk or the gmail apk? and I assume your data connection is ok.

HTC mail apk is working well. Facing problem with gmail apk, play store and talk. Data connection is OK
Are all the permissions correct? Did you flash a Rom and this started? or have you been using your current rom for awhile? Do you use titanium backup?

All permissions are correct. I flashed cooldroid 7.0 after this, that problem is started. Then I went back to CM9 but still nothing happened, reflash Fallout, ICE DS
but nothing. Use titanium backup to restore but it stuck on sync. Infact make a new gmail address but didnt signin. Now when I open Play store from my PC it stuck
on connecting to server.

When I install I get an error message when I click activate, "Error encountered while registering the device. Please try again later."...driving me mad, how do I fix?

Have you tried clearing the app's data from settings --> application manager?
What ROM you on? If it's CM based and you have had to add GApps, try reinstalling that. Otherwise backup eveything and factory reset.

Standard ROM that came with the phone (Vodafone UK). Can't clear app data as app is not actually installed yet. Obviously app says its for business users only, which I'm not but phone keeps insisting I install it!

A quick look at the comments on the play store shows quite a few people with the issue.. why not contact google? Or just uninstall it with TB?
One of the comments says the following though: To activate the Policy I have to encrypt the device. To encrypt the device I have to password protect the lock screen with a 6 digit password that includes at least one number!?! Come on Google! who wants to punch in a long password every time they pick up their phone!?

This is indeed terrible. Google Apps Device Policy suddenly comes with unclear error message. No clear solution is available. I ahve tried different alternatives:
1-) Uninstall Google Apps Policy server => No luck;
2-) Remove the account from google account, install it again ==> No lock;
I just keep receiving same message: " Action requise" in french for "action required" on account. when I get this Device Policy Server, it just says: Error with registering the account, try again later ...

did you try login to web account live.com with PC? if all OK only splution is reset to factory default (dont forget to backup important data)...

If I said "Later" it ask me "Do you want to add an existing account or create a new one?" (even when I said "later") So I choose "Existing" and I have to log in with my account and it seems it works but then ask me again for the account, but now when I sign in (again) it say "There is already a [email protected] account on this Android device".
No matter what I do, it still appearing the same message. If I try to create a new account I put my name and last name and when I click continue message appears "Unfortunately, Google Account Manager has stopped". I hard reset the phone again but when I get this point the same error occurs. The problem is that I can't do literally nothing with my phone, NOTHING. I can't go to settings, I can't open any app, I can't open notification bar, nothing.
I've already reset the phone again. I create a new Google account on my PC and try to log in but it's the same. Please, don't tell me "Go to Settings..." or something because I can't.

That sucks... I would try the hard reset via the built in recovery, which seems like it is only accessible via adb commands, oddly enough. If that doesn't work, then re-flashing the stock firmware might be next.
Finally
Finally I solved my problem =D
I suspected it was a software problem so I installed LG PC Suite and I downloaded the update for my phone (via USB), even when it was asking me for a Google Account.
After the update was completed, the phone restarted and it asked me for a Google Account again, so I put my info for the umpteenth time and finally it worked!!! Now the setting up process is completed and I'm able to access to the Play Store, Settings and other things.
I'll leave this information here in case anyone have the same problem in the future.
