Root your tab correctly.

for the root i have the zip file labeled "Samsung_Galaxy_Tab_10.1_root.zip"
but in Android system recovery <3e>
i would "Apply update from external storage"
but he said
"E:unknow volume for patch [/sdcard]"
:'(

First, you can't root from stock recovery. You have to flash CWM recovery first through Odin. Be careful to get up to date files and make sure you know what steps you're following and don't miss any steps. I wish there was a new guide for ICS I could point you to, but there are so many people having issues rooting recently, there isn't a definitive guide that seems to work for everyone without issue.
Hopefully some kind soul will read this and point you to up to date ICS rooting downloads and some instruction.

[Q] Rooting/backup issues

Ok just got a replacement Vibrant. I Immediately went to the official release of froyo to test. Installed fine using KIES. Attempted to Root and did so successfully using the SuperOneCLick app wich when finished tested and confirmed root. Went to install Busybox and it gives me the Nand locked error.
1)Is there a way to confirm phone is nand locked?
2)Ive only found a way to unlock nand is for the Bell version or requires a paid app or extra non Tmobile sim card (wich I dont have). Is there a way to unlock nand for Tmobile not involving either sim card or cash?
3)Is it possible to odin a different rom/kernel (namely TW's Newest Nero) if phone is nand locked and have working busy box/root?
open titanium backup and click on 'problems?' to d/load busybox, same issue?
Yes it downloads busybox and then says "failed" after verifying busybox. Says cannot get root permissions. Please verify you have root and Busybox.
download terminal
open it
type "su" (no quotes)
what did it return?
SU comes up with "Permission denied". Should I try using the "update.zip" method with froyo? As i said the other program confirmed root supposedly. Super User Is installed BTW.
Did you follow this guide?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=925400
Ok that was the guide i was following. Issue was that whenever I tried to dl the recommended file manager from market , It would show the dl completeing and then close with the application never installing and not showing up in applications. I had already had ES File explorer installed as that was my favorite on my initial vibrant (pre official 2.2) because the ease of transferring files wirelessly and other functions. I uninstalled ES and ran Titanium again and this time was prompted for SU rights. After giving rights to Titanium i again ran the "Problems" button and ths time busybox installed. Restarted Ti and ran "Problems" and updated busybox just fine.
Seems my immediate issue is done. Now on to backup and then ROM's.
You, my friend, deserve a big, sloppy, man kiss.
*BTW The app Super Manager is still not installing for me even after removal of ES and reboot of phone.
Open titanium backup
Select "market"
Wipe data
Wipe it again for good measure.
Still in tb
Menu > market doctor
Fix market links
reboot
Open market
Agree to terms
Issue fixed?
Perfect that did the trick. Never knew about that feature in Ti Backup. Again many thanks. Working on the CWR signature issues now, following this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=833423 . Dont want to do anything until I have a nandroid to fall back on.

Rooted but cant give root permission

So I have been following the NOOB GUIDE sticky thread and the Tutorial to achieve root.

I've got superuser in my apps (which means it's rooted right?) and I've downloaded Super Manager so I can get rid of the junk stock apps.
The problem is that when I try to enable ROOT function in Super Manager, the program freezes and/or says that "The ROOT function in this program is not support your device or system image".
So.....any thoughts? Am I just missing a step somewhere or what?
Any help would be great Thanks.
Why don't you just go in the root system folder and manually delete them? It's easier that way.
You may have rooted the phone but did not complete.
Go to unlockr.com google "rooting vibrant with superoneclick" and watch the video seeing is believing
Usually after you root you need to manually go into recovery hit install packages 2nd time and then reboot again back into recovery and you will have rooted and it will recognize
BTW, make sure you download Rom manager and have it installed before you do the above.
cheers!
I am not familiar with the app you are referencing, BUT, if you followed my guide, please try this.
Download Titanium Backup (you should already have it if you followed my guide).
Click on problems, let it install busybox.
does it say you are rooted? yes, good.
You can click on the middle tab and click on the apps you do not want. I suggest freezing them (essentially deleting them, but less chance of messing up since you can revert it back).
if not, PM me

Root on MIUI 2.8.31

Hi!
I have installed the MIUI Rom in my Razr, but I can not make the ROOT, I follow the steps here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1756659, but when I try upgrade the su binary in the Superuser app, I get the message that access ROOT was not allowed.
What am I doing wrong?
One question: in step 6, says: "Install the Busybox PRO and choose root access."
Where is this option? I don't see.
Thanks!

I am a Chinese user, I did not expect the miui development turned out to foreign countries, if we use the version of miui same, I think I can answer your question. After installing the software needs root privileges (for example, titanium backup), the phone will automatically ask whether to open root privileges.

I do not see any of these options.
In the desktop page 2, there is a folder called Security Centre.
In this folder, have the apps: Network Assist, Anti Virus, Security, Backup, App Control, Permission Manager and a chinese app.

Ok guys, in the Superuser options, I change the "Automatic action" to "Allow" (before he was in "Request", but I was not consulted for root permissions).
Problem solved, I would prefer that I be asked, but if there is no other way...

I think in my case the LBE Guard was changed to "Permission Manager", since, from what I saw, both do the same things.

[Q] How should I go about rooting my Prestigio 5450 DUO?

I have searched the web for rooting this kind of phone, and I have not found anything. All I know is that it's possible, since this guy did it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2641478
I presume it's the same as for the older versions, but I want to make sure.
OS version: 4.2.2
Kernel Version:3.4.5
Thank you.
According to this: http://www.srsroot.com/\supported your device is supported.
And how does this work?
This does not work, I tried it, and it said the rooting was complete. After I tried to install some root apps, they did not work. So I tried it again, but it says that I do have root access.
Hmm. Which superuser app did it install? It's not uncommon to need to either update the superuser app and / or update the SU binary (should prompt through the app if needed). Go to the Play Store and see if there is an update to the app, then open it and see if it prompts you to update the binary as well. If you don't have the Play Store on your device, just let me know which version of the SU app was installed and I'll see if there's is an update available. I don't get the chance to mess with many off brand products like this, so do not have direct experience, just tons of android experience in general.
Found some more info from a random Russian site (via Google Translator) http://translate.google.com/transla...rch?q=prestigio+duo+5450+CWM&espv=2&es_sm=122
Might try and install CWM recovery and flashing Chainfire's SuperSU zip if all else fails.
I used SRSroot if that is what you are asking.
If you are asking about what app I downloaded to test it, I used titanium, which told me that it could not access the root. I just downloaded it.

No, was referring to which Superuser app was installed during the root process. Typically this should be either Koush's SuperUser or Chainfire's SuperSU. And test with another app as Titanium can be a little weird with root access on some devices as well as needing Busybox to run properly and not all root methods also set up Busybox. Try any of these: https://play.google.com/store/search?q=rootchecker

Hello,
I have Prestigio Multiphone PAP4300 DUO, I tried all rooting crap and it didnt work. BUT one did worked. It is used on PC. You connect your phone to pc and then run the program, and choose which method you want to use(depends on phone). After some tries it worked. I dont remember what was the software called, but if I find it, I will surely edit my post.
There was no program installed during the rooting process.

Then VERY unlikely it worked. You can doublecheck and install this and see what it says: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.chainfire.supersu . It'll most likely say you are missing the SU binary and fail to install it for you without proper root. Other options include CWM recovery and a custom prerooted rom.
Rooting
If you still nid a root for PAP5450Duo I have this phone and this root app worked: download Framaroot 1.9.3 (use the Boromir exploit).

[Q] Superuser Problems Help!

Hey, Ok so i updated my Huawei u8650 to android 4.4.2 and something went wrong with my root. I can open superuser and it shows my binary and all that and it says im rooted but when i go to a app that requires root access like terminal emulator for example and i type in the command su. nothing happens it just goes to the next line. and i tried to mount my SD card partition in link2sd and it said that the script cant be created because its not allowed to su.
I thought it could be that superuser just wasn't allowing permissions but i open superuser and there's no apps, no logs or anything. I checked my settings and they're all fine and i even tried to use SuperSU instead and i still got the same thing. There's no prompt to allow access either. I don't know if the apps are just not trying to get root access or what? No app can get root permission and i need to get this fixed so i can fix some bugs on the rom. Please Help.
Thanks to all who attempt or do help. Ill be sure to hit thanks for u.

i rooted by SRSroot first then first got the error then i unrooted and re-rooted by using the kingo root method but still received the same error. they are both windows programs u can run for root on multiple devices. They use USB debugging to root then device reboots and bam your rooted.
i used those methods because i tried to just flash the binary files through cwm recovery and it never actually installed into system. The two methods above installed binary and rooted my device but i cant give root access to any apps including superuser or supersu.
If anyone can help me with this it would be appreciated because i hit a wall and don't know what to do. No apps can get root permissions and i cant fix my play store, WiFi, speakers or theme chooser until the root is properly working because the methods to fix those bugs need root to function. so please if anyone has knowledge or any idea why i have root but cant get access please help me out.

If there is a custom recovery available for your device I would recommend flashing that and then flashing the latest SuperSU.zip package in recovery. Part of the problem is the orginal Superuser (by ChainsDD) while excellent at the time is now extremely outdated and no longer really be maintained, as a result make sure you flash a Superuser package compatible with Android 4.4.2 such as the latest version of SuperSU.
