New Razr maxx owner. I bought it used but it's working great. It was wiped clean and ICS already updated.
Just bought an HD dock but the Maxx is not going into dock mode when plugged in. I downloaded Razr Dock and could use that manually, but not sure why it's not working?
I know it's the phone and not the dock as I was able to plug it into my Bionic dock (upside down) and it charges but doesn't go into dock mode either.
Is there a setting somewhere to tell it to go into dock mode when connected? I searched a lot before posting this but couldn't find an answer.
Thanks
It's unlikely, but could the webtop or any webtop related services be frozen, uninstalled, or otherwise missing? Have a look and see just in case.

I just tried a factory reset and still no luck.
I'm rooted but nothing else at this point.
Think it's just a problem with the hardware of the phone?
any other ideas?

I really couldn't say for sure. The RAZR is notorious for its poor port design, though. I had to send mine in after dropping it, as the device kept telling me it was connected to HDMI when it clearly was not. Maybe it's a similar issue?
Try using this utility
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1769345
Enable USB debugging on phone to use and plug into pc.
Then run the utility and choose option 1. Then follow the prompts. Should work.

Turn your phone off, pull the battery and get a tooth pick or paper clip and stuck it in and see if there's any lint in there. I had a pretty big lint ball in there a while ago and it was blocking one of the connectors and wouldn't trigger the headphone port.
Might work good luck bro.

I doubt its an app, it could be the ROM if you flashed one right before it stopped working. I'm just suggesting a quick possibility that I've ran into. Hopefully its something that simple.

Try a different set of headphones too just for S&G before uninstalling apps, tearing apart the FW, ETC...
Reason why is that my SGS had a similar situation recently, and for me it was a matter of my earbuds being at fault. Tried a different pair, and things worked fine. Yet the original pair in question ended up working on my Atrix.
You may not have the same issue, but its still worth a shot to try out...

the phone got bricked when i was restoring using rsdlite and the battery died after a failed cm9 flash. i know the phone is fixable but i cant bother to do it myself. i will give a factory cable adapter if you buy the phone cause i have no use of it. also i dont have the factory charging cable and power adapter. although i may be able to send it to you later because i left it at my parents house.
Eh..Use the programme-connecting-line to flashing and charging as well. And I'm sure it will be alright.

I have my xt910 for about a year now (bought it brand new) and I have spotted some digitizer issues. Before rooting my device I've noticed that sometimes the recognized touch point was far away from the actual touch point. It actually was at the same vertical line, but far higher. Imagine pressing the space virtual key and the recognized touch is about at the middle of the screen.
So one of my first moves was to root the device, as I thought it would be a software issue.(Here in Greece the device won't upgrade to the official 4.1) Still no luck though after trying several ROMs, so my second thought was the scratched screen protector that I had from the first day I bought it. After replacing it, still the problem persists...
What else should I try to fix this??
PS1: It doesn't do this all the time, but randomly, and it randomly fixes itself.
PS2: When it does it, I think it recognizes 2 spots, the actual touch point and one more above that.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Does this happen when running on battery or while plugged in the charger?
My phone previously used to sense the touch wrongly but only when it was plugged in to power. I changed my charger and things are good!

Is there a way to unroot without leaving any proof behind, so that motorola don't know about that? Otherwise the guaranty won't be valid...
Thanks.

As long as your bootloader is still locked then your warranty is good. Do you have an unlocked bootloader?

I had to send my phone in to get a replacement so what I did was delete all the data and cache from my rooted apps before deleting them. I also went into my file manager and deleted all files that had anything to do with root off my system and finally re flashed via RSD lite. That got rid of root access but idk about the bootloader cause mine is locked still.

That should work for you. I had an incredible 2 with unlocked bootloader that I had to send it for a warranty issue and I just used an unroot method. I'm guessing it worked cause I never got charged for the new phone or anyone contacting me about it. I didn't use RSD though. The unroot method never said anything about locking the bootloader again, just removing root access. I'm assuming it locked it though. I would look into if RSD will lock the bootloader again if you were to flash back to stock.

Yeah i understand. I just think from my research that is the only way unless some here had another idea

I saw a web page suggesting a way to recover without a factory cable but I don't recall where. It involved a sequence of button pushes (e.g. vol up + volume down + power followed by another button sequence). Some people reported success others did not. It would be worth a try. I will keep looking, but you can probably find it if you do some web searching on something like "xt910 or xt912 won't charge"

Have you tried this (not the instructions I mentioned earlier: still looking for those)? Hold the screen lock button, and the volume down button for around 10 seconds. This is the same as taking out the battery on an older phone, basically resets the hardware.
