Hey guys,
I do got some issues with the WIFI reception on my gtab. The signal is always very low and weak. I tried every rom, even did an NVFlash to go stock but that didnt help either. I did put carbon stickers on the whole device though, can that have any impact? Are there more people with this problem and if so have you got stickers on the device? Please let me know, thanks in adance!!
Peace!
After submitting this post my connection dropped which it also does more often.
Anyone has a clue?
3sade,
I actually had this same problem about 2 weeks ago. I would be directly over my WiFi AP and had a weak signal (2bars) no matter what ROM I used. I called up GTab support (310) 228-4000 and opened a RMA with them. Despite what's I've read in other posts, support was very nice and willing to help for me. They will tell you that you'll have to remove the carbon stick from the device and restore it to the stock ROM. That part sucks but when I got my gtab back (14 business day wait), it is in better working condition then when I sent it to them (the screen is more responsive, seems less sluggish with the stock ROM).
I don't know if this is what you were hoping to hear, but I thought I would pass it along.
I'm sorry to reply to an old thread but I've just recieved a hannspad sn10t1 which I believe has similar if not the same hardware as the GTab. I'm having the same issue with wifi connection, if I actually touch it to the router then I might get 3 bars! I definately cant leave the room and still be connected.
Have I got a faulty unit or is there a software or settings fix? By the sound of this its a hardware fault but I'd rather try and find a fix first.

Most definitely a hardware issue. It sound like your antenna is not even connected at all. I would contact the manufacture for a RMA. If not crack it open and find the antenna
Hello there,
Is there anyone else having this issue (people can't hear) with ICS Passion?
I tried some many different configurations, modem/radio, kernel... my carrier is Wind Mobile in Canada. Not sure if the problem is related with the ROM and the carrier, or what...
Thanks.
Do you mean they can't hear you after they call you, or they can't hear you after you call them. If they can't hear you after they call you, it's because of the mute/unmute bug with all Vibrant ICS roms. All you have to do is, when someone calls you, right after you answer it; just push the must button twice (hence mute/unmute) and they'll be able to hear you fine. The mute button looks like a microphone and it's in the center on the bottom.

Hi!
It is not the mute/unmute issue... it actually doesn't matter if I call or someonee calls me... everything goes fine till like 2 minutes (this time may vary) of conversation... then suddenly the other side can't hear me for a while... but more curious is, if I press the dial buttons, the tone sound goes to the other side... so it is definitely an issue related with the microphone.
For some weird reason, modem JL5 / nelson kernel 2.2 was the best combination so far, considering all the combinations (kernel/modem) I have tried... but it still happens, eventually.
No clue about what to do..
Well, try a different rom altogether.
I'm having the exact same problem and it's driving me crazy! I'm also on wind mobile in London (Canada). I used the phone a few months ago on Fido and never had a problem so it definitely relates to the AWS part of the phone. I haven't tried every modem, but I didn't notice much improvement between the ones that I did try. Originally, I thought it was an issue with Euphoria, so I tried different ICS roms with no luck. Since then, I've restored to stock and I can make calls that last much longer but ultimately suffer the same issue. This implies that it may be a software issue. I'm going to have to get a new phone if this continues. It's frustrating considering how far the development of ICS roms for the vibrant has come.
Edit: I just wanted to point out that I had the nexus s working perfectly with wind mobile so I don't think it's an issue with the carrier. My sister had the vibrant for a while and she would complain non-stop about dropped calls when I put froyo-based or ICS-based roms on it. At the time, MIUI was the only rom that she didn't have calling issues with. In an attempt to fix the phone myself, I gave her my nexus and took the vibrant. I've tried miui but this issue of others being unable to hear me during a call persists.
How long do your calls last using the JL5 and Nelson 2.2?

Hi! Well, yesterday I got a call from a 1800 number and had I think 5 minutes of conversation before the issue started... I remember with KB5 I could never have more than a minute...
so, that said, and since "I found" someone else having the same problem, I am wondering what to do now... with some many tries we had in our phones, it is definitely an incompatibility with Vibrant and Wind.
I read some people having this issue with the Google Nexus in one other thread, and it seems a new modem solved the problem in their case. We, with this lack of support from Samsung will for sure not having anything new from them. Maybe Wind can do something in their network. Have you ever tried to contact their customer support?

I haven't, but it looks like two other people from London with similar vibrant issues have (community.windmobile.ca/windmobile/topics/people_cant_hear_me_when_i_call_them?from_gsfn=true)
From what I've gathered so far, it looks like an incompatibility between vibrants and wind. Are you from London as well?

Hi all,
I recently purchased the archos 80 titanium and have found the WiFi seems to be terrible regarding signal strength and also download speeds when connected to a network, I downloaded the new upgrade that was suggested when I first started the device but this seems to of done nothing, does anyone else have this issue or know of any possible solutions to rectify the issue? I've emailed there tech support but I can imagine there response to the issue when I get 1 that is, that it will be an error at my end and not there's!

I have the same issue (seems to be a known issue looking online) but it seems to be better or worse depending on the access point I use.
I have a Plusnet router at home and it was pretty bad with that but I plugged in a D-Link access point in another room and it seems to like that better. When I'm at work I use a Meraki and works well with that too.
I think it seems to be very fussy with access points. I hope they do release an update for the WiFi drivers or something to give it some extra juice!
It's a shame really as the tablet does actually have the potential to be good, I've come to realise that I don't think it's really a software/firmware issue I just think the WiFi receiver's that are in the tablet are of a poor quality but then again I could be wrong just wish they would release some information of a new firmware and what there suggesting the new firmware would be updating to see if there ever planning on addressing the issue.

I'm going to buy it, is this still a problem after the new update?
thanks a lot!
I recently purchased a cx-919 pc stick. When I attempted to connect to my home wifi signal, this thing gives me fits. One of the chinese guys I assume had a hand in development I found on youtube explaining that the date and time had to be right, along with a few other things. However, even after I change these settings, it still won't let me connect. I'm so sick of the random lockups, impossible wifi setup, and general suckiness of this product that I am about to return it. Does anyone have any tips or advice getting one of these things working? Any insights from experience with pc sticks would be greatly appreciated.
I haven't tried rooting/custom roms yet. I really have trouble believing the manufacturers didn't notice it was this much of an asspain.
Hello,
You should return it back or just read this:

They're discuss about Cx-919.
Hit the thanks button if it helps.

Not sure when this started because I have always had this issue with CM 10.X on my T-Mobile SIII. When I am streaming music through my bluetooth headset the playback is choppy. This only happens when the screen is off!! So it's hard to troubleshoot when the issue only happens when I can't see anything.
I've checked the available memory and it looks fine while the screen is on.
Any clues? I can provide a logcat, but I wanted to see if anyone had an idea before I went through the trouble.
Before you make yourself look foolish for blasting me for not looking for the answer, I've looked all over the internet including XDA for weeks with no solution. So if you were going to post something about looking for your own answer before posting, please don't. I have. I even looked here, and this didn't fix my issue: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2038273
If this is a "known issue" as someone somewhere may have noted though for a Motorola device, then just consider this someone else whose voice needs to be heard on this.
