So I'm sure some of you have heard that the 64gb Transformer Primes have been delayed until Q2 of 2012. My thoughts on this is that Asus screwed up their tablet launch because by the time they get the 64gb models out, their tablet will be outdated. By Q2 the next gen iPad will be out, the Acer A700 will be out along with Lenovo's tablet. Both the Acer and Lenovo tablets will run the Tegra 3 processor and are rumored to have full HD screens. The only reason I was willing to get the Prime in the first place was because I didn't want to wait.
What are everybody else's thoughts on this. Anyone feeling the same I am?
This is news to me. Got a link to this announcement?

Some of this information true! however I don't see any benefit of FULL HD screen with 10" or even 12" just like the HDTV you will not going to enjoy the HD if the Screen not 50"+

*I forgot to mention both of these tablets are supposed to have 2gb of ram.
the next gen iPad is still a rumor.
A rumor started on the back of the announcement of the Prime.
When have Apple ever launched a new product without showing any screens of it.
I bet iPad 3 won't arrive to 4th quarter at best, same as the next gen Galaxy tab.
Still waiting to see how Android with Tegra3 perform on those high definition.
And if the screen looks good (color, contrast ratio, refresh rate, brightness, viewing angle) And the huge battery is surely to handle the more power hungry screen.
And from a general consummer point of view I hardly see someone buy the Acer over the Prime when looking at both of them side by side.
People like pretty thing <3
They don't care about 2gb of ram and they hardly see pixels even when looking at an iphone3GS screen. so...

Well there is a rumor of a smaller 7" iPad to be released 1st quarter next year. I don't know if you follow digitimes but there is evidence that apple is working on something because they have stopped ordering ipad 2 displays and new displays are being ordered from LG and Sharp.
Got an e-mail from Amazon about 7 hours ago. They're sending my 64gb on 4th january.
You should check your info before posting
Anyways, i want the prime because with the dock (for the extra battery + usb + sd slot), and because it feels like a real useful thing, and not just like an expensive "toy", which is what i feel are the other tablets. i don't care if they are a bit better (remember that having better specifications also means price will probably be higher), i feel that, just for the dock, the transformer will be way more useful.

I have no doubt the Tegra 3 will perform well. I actually believe there is a benchmark for the T3 on the HD display in my second link. If the Acer and Lenovo tablets are as they are rumored I'm sure they will easily outsells the prime given the price point is good. I really think Tegra 3 ice cream sandwich tablets will definitely benefit from 2gb of ram and I've always had to worry about resource management on all my devices it'd be nice not to worry about it for once.

I did check look at the link. Did your tablet actually ship out or it will be shipping? As for the keyboard dock since the idea is out there now others will definitely follow.

I had already read that (if you look at it, it's 10 days old, it was already posted in this forum). It only says UK 64Gb are being delayed on the original article in slashgear (link in your own link), and everything is based on what one shop has said (nothing official from ASUS... again). In their shop they still say "Release date to be confirmed. Expected Quarter 2 2012". It reminds me of what happened with Amazon and the 32gb gray... and you see, most had it by the 19-20...
My guess is that they're just protecting themselves against the ****storm of having a earlier release date and then changing it. And again, it has only happened in the UK, in that particular shop.
Anyway, my 64GB Gray Prime is expected to be shipped 4th January from Amazon.de. It was a "we will send you an e-mail when we have a confirmed release date" until tonight. I will keep you informed if it ships or not
And about the dock, the original transformer has been out since march/april i think. Acer did something similar, i believe, but no one else. Maybe it's just a patents issue, maybe they don't believe in the format. For me, it's what makes this tablet worth it.
Manufacturers leak specs and info of a prototype often to wet the appetite of consumers and enthusiasts . But when real manufacturing begins, you start to see how the real model differs from the prototype because sacrifices had to be made for mass production. I wouldn't be surprised of the 2 GB ram i reduced to 1GB when real manufacturing begins.
Here's the reality Tegra 3 just does not have a high enough gpu to run a 1900x1200 screen it will not work Acer is going to take a flop

The main benefit I see it you can mirror the device on HD TV without any rescaling. Other than that I think it's useless and will slow down games. I wonder if the delay is related to GPS problem.

Nvidia said they had optimized the Tegra 3 to run at 2560x1440 resolution. You can hear them say this in the early demos for the Kal-El demonstrations.
I feel the Tegra 3 will easily handle the high resolution screens. Only problem that I would want a super IPS+ display as well. No point in having the higher resolutions if the screen is so much dimmer then the Prime.

just because they said it doesn't make it true, it will run that hig of a screen but it wont be as fluid as we would like. The GPU in tegra 3 is enough to run our screen but once you get higher you have to manipulate that many more pixles on every transition which is a gpu hog and ram hog

I think so also. if higher end PC, being more powerful, has issues playing games n such at super high resolutions, what makes people think a tablet can handle it any easier. we won't know till these devices are released. can't wait to see how tegra3 performs with it. I think with the prime, we hit a sweet spot on performance and display quality. even once tegra3 gets put in phones, nvdia already stated they will be downclocked and more optimized.

Remember what the google dev said in her blog.... If you have a 2x higher amount of pixels it needs 2x the cpu power per core to have the same speed as the device with less pixels. For Prime vs Iconia:
Prime: 1280x800 = 1,024,000 pixels on 1.4Ghz per core
Iconia: 1920x1200 = 2,304,000 pixels on probably 1.4GHz too or maybe 1.6Ghz. So it got 2.25x more pixels.
Thus, according to the Google Dev, if you want to have the same performance on the Iconia as on the Prime you'll need each core clocked to 1.4x2.25= 3.15Ghz and I don't think that is gonna happen really soon So Iconia will probably be overall slower than the Prime.

I've had my Prime for about 4 weeks, Friday is the day I need to return to Amazon, unless I can get an extension from Amazon. EDIT: Just talked with Amazon, they won't extend my return period. (My Prime was as Asus for a week, but they just tested it. And I was hoping for a fix for WiFi before I had to return it.)
My WiFi throughput is weak on the Prime. Both Samsung Galaxy 10.1 and HTC Flyer have better WiFi, the Galaxy 10.1 is by far better.
I don't play games, and was thinking of returning the Prime and getting something the performs better on WiFi, perhaps the original Transformer, TF101.
I thought I would post here, since many of you have experience with both the TF101 and TF201, and see what you might suggest.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
Why go back to an older model?
Though I suffer a random reboot maybe once a day, I plan to keep my prime to see what the Asus team says.
However, I do plan on buying my wife *cough* more for me prob *cough* the Toshiba Excite X10 when that comes out later in the month. That one looks real interesting as well IMO.
Prime or nothing.
I would not buy another Tegra 2 today. Prime is much better.

No games out there are dedicated to the Prime, most of them will run on Tegra 2 based tabs. By the time the new games come out, they will probably be optimized for HD 1080 or 720p screens and quadcores which means Prime owners have to wait for the rest of the Android market to catch up.

That is COMPLETELY wrong. Completely. There are Tegra 3 optimized games.
First of all there is Glowball, something NO Tegra 2 tablet can run.
Secondly, when you play games like Shawdowrun HD, Riptide, and Shinerunner the quality of graphics is improved on Tegra 3 devices.
Even better, in the Tegra Zone there is a pile of stereoscopic 3D games that will play in 3D on a 3D TV if you hook up your Prime. Just last night I was playing Riptide in 3D on my Samsung 3D plasma, something NO Tegra 2 device can do.

Bull. The Tegra 2 sucks. Outright sucks.
First of all, the GPU is too weak for the resolution of Android tablets. Even with Tegra 2 games the Prime plays the games MUCH smoother. Tegra 2's GPU was meant for WVGA resolutions not 720p+. The Tegra 2 is SPANKED by not only the Tegra 3 but also the Mali in the SGS2 and the iPad 2' GPU.
Simply put, if you want smooth gameplay, Tegra 2 is simply not a good option.
Then there are the other problems with Tegra 2- NO high profile h264 support (so FORGET playing mkvs in hardware mode), NO NEON support (when MANY apps optimize for NEON because quite simply every other major SoC- including Tegra 3- has NEON support), and a lower per-core clockspeed.
I can understand someone not wanting the Prime because of issues, but lets not pretend the original is something it is not.
Buying a TF101 today is like buying a freaking brand new Pentium D desktop- it was fine in its day but nowadays the alternatives are MAGNITUDES faster. In particular, the Prime is at least three times faster than the TF101.
The better solution is to wait for other Tegra 3 tablets. Pretending Tegra 2 is still a good value in 2012 doesn't help anyone. There is a reason Tegra 2 ended up being the low-end of the last generation of dual-core SoCs.

If anyone feels so strongly that they should get an original Transformer, then I'm ready to sell mine (along with its dock). It's in good shape and works fine (for a Tegra 2-based tablet). Personally, I much prefer using my Prime, and so if you're set on buying an OG Transformer and want to save a few bucks, then PM me and let me know how much you're willing to pay for the privilege.

Nice infomercial.
If people are looking for alternates or something to hold them over until something different comes out there are two deals going on now...
1) Staples is discontinuing the OG Zoom and selling them for $249. Accessories are 75% off too. It has ICS. It's only available in store and they're hard to find.
2) Costco has the 16GB G-Tab w/rebate in-store only for $389. That includes the OEM Samsung case.

The Prime is WAY better for video decoding as it supports NEON instructions
I like my prime a lot better then my tf101... Like pretty much every new android device I have ever had phones including the first 3 to 8 months of its life is buggy until the developers work it all out, they are slow. The original tf101 was also plagued with issues when it first released and honestly still has some. I sold mine to a friend for 200 a couple weeks ago. It should be getting ICS this month so it should get better...should...
But even my phones that are android based have all had their problems. The best ones are the ones that got a good open source developer making custom roms that work great. I am running a vibrant and a mytouch with custom roms and they are awesome. I cant wait till Asus releases the bootloader unlocked.
There is sooo much you can do with software man. I'm amazed how good the prime runs right now. Its the first tegra3 quad core device (drivers will get much better) and its one of the first ICS devices, which also isnt perfect yet. The bootloader will be unlocked soon...
Yes the aluminum case isnt optimal for radio signals. But in my case all radio related stuff works just fine (even GPS when i'm outside - i get a fix in under 1min). What i want to say there are some hardware limitations but overall i'm sure in 6months EVERY aspect of the Prime will be much improved.
I witnessed that on my past 2 phones. You should compare my DHD from when I first bought it with stock&branded Froyo/Sense 2.0 firmware, to now with a Custom rom and Gingerbread 2.3.5/Sense 3.5. Its like a completely new phone. Battery life is almost doubled for example.
But the OP is right. If you want a device with good software you should not buy a completely new device. But does that justify buying an older phone/tablet? For me i dont think so. I think its much better to look for popular devices that will likely have a big community and many devs. And of course are unlockable. Thats why i know the Prime is an awesome device. I'm sure devs will do great things with it

http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/27/asus-outs-lower-end-transformer-pad-300-tablet-with-16gb-of-stor/
There you go So we'll be having a luxury model, thats more expensive and without tegra3 but 1080p display. And then a low cost one, without IPS+, only 16gb und ugly colored (imho) plastic backs.
Asus also gives slightly less battery life (10h against 12h of the prime) on both "new" tablets. Of course they will be good devices, but with both of them i think "ah its just slightly off from what i'm looking for".
I think the Prime is still the sweet spot, and i'm glad i didnt wait
Does the LTE vertion include WiFi?
Now I'm fully convinced to get my Prime, as soon as Amazon Italy lists it as available again.
There is a Tegra 3 one for the WiFi only version model, that's listed in the article you linked.
I have a feeling the prime will slowly disappear when the 300 is released. The two cannot really exist very well together on store shelves i don't think. Who knows when the 300 will be available though. We will have had our primes for months already.
i just can't see them selling both. I wouldn't be surprised if we never see the prime readily available in stores. It doesn't even fit with their new naming. It would confuse people. It sort of belongs as a 500 series with the premium materials and better screen than the 300.

Bring that into an apple store and everyone would be like what! I need that! I can replace my iPhone iPad and macbook air! For what less then 1000 you got me sold!

i think every Prime owner should demand their backplates to be replaced with those from Pad Infinity design with plastic RF window.
Snapdragon S4 VS Tegra 3
This is all pretty crazy now haha. There was only 1 original Transformer (TF101) and now there's exactly 7,451 second generation models.
Just a question though, i've seen benchmarks and it seems that the S4 in the LTE prime is better than Tegra 3, does anyone think the extra cores in Tegra 3 could make up for lack of speed in some applications?
No way the dual core a15 snapdragon will smoke the tegra 3 in not only overclocking but all around performance.
Now what we should be looking forward to is the snapdragon s4 pro the one with the adreno 320 gpu that will be a real deal breaker!
Nvidia just wanted to be first to market so they took the tegra 2 and shrunk it down threw in an extra core for battery and got almost all the attention for being first!
Optimization> # of cores

actually as a consumer i dont care at all about cores or potential speed in benchmark xy
I care about battery life and most importantly software. I'm sure all the regular games will run smooth on all the new CPUs thats not an issue. Also UI will be completely smooth thats already possible with a dualcore (galaxy s2).
So what does tegra3 offer? Intelligent design with ninja core for battery life and dedicated games that look better than anything else. That makes it better than any other chip IMHO.

This.
The battery life is SO much better because of this.
..vs K3V2

Haha I guess your right, as long as it works and works WELL, that's more than enough.
Plus if we all cared about specs we'd all be running to the huawei k3v2 chip
"49 percent faster in purely CPU-powered tasks and uses 30 percent less power than its competitors"

Most definately Its kinda funny i think... This is completely off topic, but i really wonder what phone manufacturers think when they decide on specs for their new phones.
For example HTC, new line of phones. I like 4.3" phones so the One S is for me. Right now i have a DesireHD. If i upgrade i get a new CPU, yay. But only 16gb memory and only 1500mAh battery (the same as my DHD...).
That means i get a potentionally faster chip (yay for psx/n64 emulation, only place where my dhd is at its limits), but it wont even be able to hold my Music library. Guess i should take my ancient ipod with me again... I liked HTC so far but this is just fail.
now back to topic I hope as many phones as possible will use Tegra3. That means more software dedicated to that chip. And more software on our Prime.
Ooh, I've seen this before. HTC did that. They released so many models that it was hard to keep track of. And this led them to a really sad situation where they are now forced to step back.
ASUS is making a mistake by releasing new models this frequently. It upsets buyers who have invested in a 'new tablet' that is outdated by the same company only few months later and leaves an impression of ASUS basically doing HTC, just improving hardware a little and causing absolutely horrible fragmentation. TF201 will likely not even get Android 5.0 officially.
I liked Engadget poking ASUS as well: "No word yet on pricing or availability. In any case, though, we wouldn't be surprised if ASUS gave birth to another tablet between now and then."

Seconded. Was looking forward to the new HTC models, my Desire has been fantastic and I was not considering any other manufacturer, but then they go and announce the One X and S and it turns out they don't have any memory card slots. What the ****? 32GB on the One X I might be able to live with, but it's too big, and the One S does not have anywhere near enough storage.
Will wait and see on the Asus Padphone now. You might want to check that out - I couldn't give a crap about using it as a tablet but it's got a 4.3 inch display same as the One S and between 16-64GB of internal storage as well as a memory card slot.

I think you are wrong. If anything, the original Transformer will be phased out when the TP300 is released, since the 300 will replace the OG Transformer as the budget model tablet. Also Asus has stated that they see a long product life span ahead for the current model Transformer Prime, and I believe them.
So you guys ok with a cheaper tablet with better wifi, gps etc? With Sd card slot, the 16 GB storage is not going to be a problem. Also i highly doubt if we will see Padfone in US. Its head ache to deal with carriers here and Asus may well not do it.
So the new Transformer Pad Infinity is basically the current Transformer Prime but with the following changes:
- Same metallic spun finish but with a plastic strip at the top to fix the GPS/BT/WiFi issues the Prime had.
- Same Tegra 3 CPU as the Prime (WiFi model only) but now clocked at 1.6Ghz.
- Improved display. Now 1920x1800.
- Improved front facing camera. Now 2MP and capable of HD video calls.
- 1hr less battery time compared to Prime. Due to increased resolution and clock speed.
- Available in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB configurations and same colours as the Prime.
- Same ports and keyboard dock as the Prime.
I think I might have to wait for this now. Hopefully it fixes all the issues the Prime has.
I personally would gladly trade 16 gigs internal storage for functional wifi/bt. I'll be waiting to see what the rest of the week brings for MWC, but i'm 100% sure now that I wont be buying anything until about a month out to let everyone figure out whats wrong with all these tabs.
So since many folks have gotten rid of the Prime, what tablet did you replace it with?
The obvious # 1 choice; Infinity.
- They fixed the gps, wifi, micro sd slot. But there is still audio lag with bluetooth. They didn't fix the slow i/o...still using the slowest possible flash memory. And Asus also didn't increase the battery capacity, with the increase in resolution and clock speed....battery life is too poor.
# 2: Acer Iconia A700.
- High resolution screen, low everything. Low clock speed, low brightness screen, laggy performance.
# 3: Huawei MediaPad 10 FHD
- Hi resolution screen, super fast Quad-core 1.5 GHz K3 cpu. Release date unknown.
# 4: Lenovo IdeaTap K2
- High resolution screen, tegra 3, shown at CES...release date unknown.
# 5: Galaxy Note 10.1
- Exynos 4 quad core cpu, faster than tegra performance. Actual stereo speakers, 2 gb ram, digitizer pen, same smoothness as on Galaxy 3 phone. But a lower resolution screen.
# 6: iPad 3:
- Great mix of hardware and software....but a boring OS.
# 7: MS Surface and Variants
-Upcoming Win 8 tablets, performance on these tablets seem great so far, no price yet.
So what tablet have replaced Prime with, or are waiting to buy?
Hmmm. I still have my prime and love it with wookie ICS. Had to downgrade from JB still not refined enough for me. Im really digging the note though. I have the AT&T note in tablet mode and think its the best phone ever haha. Might have to pass the prime along to my kid once that comes out.

With a heavy heart, I went for the iPad 3. But I couldn't settle with it. I'm too much into the Google ecosystem and I much prefer Android as an OS. iOS is fine mostly, but the walled garden is too full of strangling ivy...
Off to Best Buy tomorrow to get the Infinity, and off to Apple to return my iPad.
Eagerly awaiting the Note 10.1 - have the Samsung Series 9 Slate (Windows)
I sketch and draw, so the wacom pen is pretty much a sell right there.
And it has a working GPS - with Glonass support.
And integrated CIR which makes it a remote control too.
I've long had a kind of dislike for Samsung because they have a mutual 'non-competition' agreement between Samsung USA and Samsung Canada, which would be ok - except that Samsung Canada brings in a teeeeeny subset of the products you guys in the US get.
On the other hand, recently they've been widening the range of products, and they just opened their first Samsung store in North America in Vancouver of all places. So, it would be hypocritical not to give Samsung a fair chance.
I rather like my Samsung Nexus phone - and I have a Samsung Series 9 Slate (the reference design for Windows 8) which is quite good as well... so I expect the Note 10.1 to be a solid device.
I'd really like to keep on with the Transformer line - but unfortunately, nothing Asus has done has made me feel they've earned my loyalty or even my trust. Time to move on.
I will try galaxy note first, if its not going to be good enough then I will get iPad, I know I hate iOS, but at least it WORKS really good.
I replaced it with iPad 3. Happy.
I guess we're still waiting for a good android tablet. I like the dock - maybe with the MS devices coming out, we'll see a few more of these come along (it's not the same, but it seems MS is pushing that type of form factor more).
Nexus 7.
Got the Nexus 7 till I see a worthy 10 in tablet. Nexus 10 would be fantastic.

Nexus 7, if you are comfortable with the form factor this N7 performance is far away from the prime.
I'm skeptical that the N7's performance improvement isn't largely software related. I would expect ASUS to leverage a significant amount of the transformer's design/components for yet another tablet rather than designing one from the ground up. I can't imagine them using blazing fast memory for example.
I went with the iPad 2. I'm hearing bad things about the iPad 3. Most people that has one wish they had kept their iPad 2. I liked my prime but it wasn't for ready for the prime time.
After exchanging my prime for the Verizon iPad 4G LTE I couldn't be happier. Although I love android, I prefer iOS on a tablet. However I'll never get an iPhone. Galaxy nexus ftw
Glad I cancelled my Prime pre-order after Asus took out the GPS from the spec. Now I have the Infinity which is faster, higher res and working GPS/Wifi. To those who upgraded for free from Best Buy, congrats and enjoy your new toy.
Got myself the infinity and i absolutely love it. Definitely what the prime would have been in regards to software
I replaced my Prime with the Infinity even though I did not have the many issues with the Prime that others had. But since Best Buy was willing to do the exchange, I went for it. The Infinity is really nice, but awaiting the Microsoft Surface and the new Samsung Note Tab.
There is very little to do with the infinity. Not many roms, didnt unlock mine yet because not sure i want to keep it. If you watch a movie (before the battery dies) the screen is nice but overall not that impressed, my prime with all the problems had jellybean and was working good, now , i feel we are back at square one, at least for the time being as not much is being devloped.. The battery is not great, 5-6 with a very low screen and not doing very much. I think we were all spoiled with the prime.. lol.
For tablets not much else out there right now
Got an Infinity and am using my original keyboard dock. Love it. If there is a IPS+ display version of the Nexus 7 released I will be very tempted to get one to supplement the TF700T.
Gonna be a windows 8 tablet for me, just missing the full experience of windows on the tablet... Excellent for surfing the web, listening some music and watching youtube but that's about it for me.
Also noticed I hardly ever used the prime without the dock anymore so bought a netbook (Samsung 305U1A) for now. A bit bigger then the prime (and damn, I do miss the touch screen hehe) but have hardly touched the prime since.
Can't wait for a nice windows 8 tablet/netbook combo (removable keyboar dock, just because). Just hope the price will be doable.
Budget is around 400EUR.
- I like the Nexus 10 but it has this ridiclous high res screen which the processors struggles to power. 720p is fine for me!
- There's the TF300 and TF700, the wifi is probably better but the big question: does the tf300/700 have faster memory? If yes those are excellent!
- There's the samsung galaxy tab 2 10.1 but it doesnt have Tegra! I really like my Tegra games ... will it run them?
- There's the Nexus 7 which seems perfect except that it's just 7 inch. I like the idea of clean google os and updates though.
What would you do? I prefer 10inch but I guess I something a little smaller is ok. I like my Tegra games. I prefer a decent screen (IPS) but resolution doesn't matter.
It all comes down to this: I want a TF201 with better wifi and especially better memory.
I just want to be able to download torrents or doing a file transfer without the tablet becoming unusable for a few minutes.
I still really like my TF201, my dad wants a tablet so I tought I'd give him the TF201 and get me another one.

While the wifi is a larger issue, i think you could easily resolve your memory concerns by just using link2SD on another prime

They stick out too much and can accidently be pressed in and then i lose the sd. I have lost 2 already. I just notice: oops my sd is gone! I think just from carrying around, lying between other stuff etc... It's running androwook now with clemsys 1.6 kernel so as far as software goes I've already done the most important.
I'm leaning towards the nexus 10 because of the google support and lack of people complaining about sluggish performance. I'll lose tegra games but surely games must still look good on it i guess ... I really like my prime's build quality and feel. It's just great (as a tablet alone, with the dock it became kinda wobbly). Also dock connectors are bent. But just as a tablet it feels great. No scratches, great glass! It's just great, if just it would have better wifi and better i/o.
I can always swap my Nexus 10 (or whatever i choose) to my dad and take back my prime

There is an app called Chainfire3D it was working well on my SGS2 running tegra games Im not sure if it would work on the Nexus 10 ...
I like nexus 10 but I would go for the TF700. Wide range of usage better battery life and you could expand the memoy, and you have a phisical keyborad. You would not have any of these on Nexus 10 but it is much cheaper..
I have just got my TF700 to replace my TF201 which was running on AndroWook.
I can say I am impressed so far with the TF700, no light bleed, the docking clamp feels sturdier and not as loose, the screen is much nicer and the colours seem a lot more vivid. The whole system seems to also run smoother, I have just downloaded loads of apps from google play and it didnt lock up at all when selecting the next app and clicking download & Install where as the TF201 would even on AndroWook. GPS works indoors to a certain extend and wireless has a much better range.
Overall I feel stock TF700 is much better than my rooted & ROM's TF201. IThe only hard decisiion I have at the moment is should I unlock, root and ROM or leave as is for time being
Going for the TF700 (tablet alone) might be a solution ... I keep the dock of my TF201 (afaik they are interchangable).
The nexus 10 is unavailable in belgium, only way to get it is to use a vpn and some cheating on credit card details AND a middle person shipping company to order it in another country. This is too crazy just for a tablet. It is not physically available in stores, only through google device store in select european country's :/
And apparantly a lot of stores discontinued the TF700 too :/ But i'm sure i'll find one somewhere.
Galaxy note 10.1
I like my tf201.
But at the time I take a look at my friend's new galaxy note 10.1, My eyes has caught by the great performance.
It provides a great overall performance such as an iDevice.
Since My tf201 need to be modified alot to get those flurent experience, galaxy note 10.1 is much way better
I've got a tf201 and a Galaxy SIII (same processor as Note 10.1), the SIII is really than the tf201 in all (maybe a 40% or more), internet browsing, playing games, etc. So the performance in the Note 10.1 will be also better.
Note 10.1 has opened bootloader, so you can install or modify whatever you want with depending if ASUS Tool wants to unlock your tablet.
Personally I am avoiding Tegra based tablets given the poor showing from the TF201. Granted it is better than it was but it's still far from perfect.

For me i dont think there is anything worth upgrading to atm. All the other tablets are basically same generation as the Prime.
My next tablet should have:
-better or at least equal battery life as prime.
-full pen support which converts writing to printed text (like samsung note 10.1), in my current situation i prefer that over the keyboard addon.
-next gen cpu/gpu like tegra4 or equal and i guess 2gb ram.
-higher resolution (something like 1080p, nexus 10 is overkill imho)
-Frontfacing speakers
-as usual: fully rootable. Using a tablet without gesture control? Not going to happen.
- And of course: Better wifi/memory speeds, but i think thats a given no matter what you buy
-[e] oh and Micro USB charging! **** YOU proprietary charging bull****.
It looks only samsung is providing these things in a package atm I would rather buy something else to be honest, but i dont care about brands that much as long as they deliver.
I think if samsung ever brings another tab like the note 10.1 thats gonna be it. Although i'm still hoping ASUS, Sony or even Google does something comparable.
If you're on a budget, according to reviews, the latest effort from Asus is a sort of budget version of a fix of all the mistakes they've made with the transformer series. According to reviews they've fixed I/O speeds, GPS is apparently spot on, and Wifi is reportedly excellent. And in performance, the reviews all seem to show fast, fluid JB performance. I seriously sat there dumbfounded at how a device half the cost of the useless TF201 could perform that well.
Something to look at if - like you said - you're on a budget, and don't NEED super high pixel density, oh plus it has nice stereo speakers AND *drumroll please* micro-usb! Good bye ****ty bound-to-be-broken proprietary Asus charger!
http://www.gadgetgestures.com/asus-...ll-be-available-for-249-and-129-in-uk/8343392
If - to this day - the TF201 didn't sour my tablet experience and subsequently make me realize how little use I actually have for a tablet, I would've probably jumped at this as a replacement.
Used a Nexus 10 today and it was beautiful. I'd get that in a second if I was okay with ditching the keyboard dock with extra battery.
I'm not sour on Asus at this point, so I'd probably end up with a 700.
I'll pass on the Infinity since it still has the same bad i/o flaw.
turns out the tf201 and tf700 are still hugely expensive here in belgium. the tf201 still goes voor 599EUR (thats about $750), so i just kept it and my dad got a tf300 which is a much more reasonable 299EUR.
im sitting here with my laptop browsing on my neighbours public hotspot, works great, the tf201 cant even 'see' the network :/ wanted to use gps this week because my in car gps broke, even with the antenna addon it didnt get a fix after 5 minutes. i ended up using google maps on the laptop
so many flaws but it feels so great it looks awesome and gaming is perfect
