Has anyone teared apart Sony Xperia U? I was thinking that Xperia 2012 devices are almost same. So there is a possibility that Xperia U can have an sd card slot but for the market sales perspective, Sony didn't put one. If that is so, there may be a possible way of adding an sd card slot or hardwiring an sd card in Xperia U.
I am ready for non-destructive tearing of my Xperia U to check if that idea works but I don't have much understanding of the design, so I don't know where to look. If I could have an expert's advice before diving in
sd card
I was close to that though. I was wondering if by chance we could change the memory chip somehow. I guess is easier to get the blueprint of the motherboard than tear the mobile apart. May the force be with you
have a look, it should give you an idea

Or that of course
But what about the partitions they have? I don't think they have used different memory chips for different partitions. Plus if they have hard coded the max memory address in the bios..

There's only one memory chip. I guess if they they've the info in the bios, or in the bootloader (I'm no ninja in this subject), probably it's just a matter of changing the memory chip. You get a bootloader locked, or unlocked, 32GB Xperia U. As soon you flash it, it will be partitioned like it is right now and the rest of the space left in raw. Afterwards, with cwm you can resize the partitions or create new ones. I believe that, in theory, this makes sense, since the bootloader isn't stored in the memory card and, in fact, is all we need to make the phone flashable.
Guys chech the 7th picture

So no chance to change the memory all thinghs has been stored on/in that chip

True, it's a SanDisk. I've seen it already. But the bootloader isn't stored there. In fact I believe that works just like
like the pc's motherboards that have a dedicated chip to store the bios. I only I had more knowledge of electronics I would may be able to identify the components...
It is very dificult to change that chip...

well this seems really interesting... wouldnt mind trying it out since i am learning how to solder now, and after lots of practice, could attempt it...but i need someone incredibly expeirenced to try it out first if we can get pics and blueprints of another xperia nxt phone with similar hardware, i think it would definitly be possible... we may even find an unused gap for an sd card slot but we would probably have to permanently solder one on... for the software bit im sure we can get it from the other nxt phones.... they are so similar, probably flashing one of its roms on another phone would still boot it, though things may not work. so yeah....think we should start looking into this more seriously!

I don't think this is an appropriate or helpful comment, I mean why judge people? Personally my criteria was the size (i preferred having a smaller nxt device) so at least from where I stand it would make perfect sense to mod.
Not flaming just pointing out that maybe you should have considered that perhaps their criteria is different to yours.
p.s. This is not just to you but a lot of people here (on xda) have been pointing out things that directly contradict the intentions of the OP

That's your point of view. And it makes sense. Now consider this:
Why not?
Why do people tune their car instead of buying a Ferrari?
Why do people put stupid bows in wallet size dogs?
And why did this community ported ics and jb to phones that came with 1.6 native?
Just for the fun of it. Every time someone says something it's impossible or useless another guy ends up doing it just to prove its possible.
Another thing to consider is the whole point of xda. If crazy ideas didn't existed we weren't be were throwing ideas to each other, which is like a gym to our brain.

Anyone with some knowledge of electronics can shed some light on this subject for me? The memory chip is SDIN5C2-8G, the 16G model isn't easy to find, but it does exist. It costs around 32usd. Isn't this motherboard dual layer? I can't see the soldering points on the other side of the board. Another thing, can we get the model of the ram chip (assuming there is a dedicated chip for that- i can't see nothing in the pics)? It would help a lot.
Unreal- How and where is the bootloader stored (you are one more that came from g3 and I know you probably can explain it to me)
Brainstorming guys, come on! Let's learn.

well im no pro but what was mentioned earlier probably is true. we could just solder on the same memory chip, but of larger capacity onto the board. this ofcourse will be difficult for average users to do. u would need to find a pro soldering guy or practice enough to get it rite...this way the phone will behave as normal, but with extra unpartitioned space, which can be partitioned by cwm later.but will probably definitly work.but tough.
second way would be be to find some an empty sd slot bracket or pins which sony may have left free since they ddnt want to put one on this phone. then, with a little software tweaking we could make it behave like the xperia sola, both internal and external memory, that is, if their even is such a bracket. this would probably be easier to solder on. we probably may not need to touch the bootloader, or atleast for the first case. honestly i would prefer not to touch it incase of hardbricks but dont really know if this would hardbrick a sony phone...it would on my old g3 but maybe sony is different? also if we really want to do this, i suggest we use maybe a 32gb version of the chip? if we are willing to do all this hardwork, we mite as well put a decent chip in it...maybe even 64 either ways we need an expert like adamoutler who knows about chips and ****....or atleast someone with awsome soldering skills...

The OP is asking about the "POSSIBILITY" they've neither requested the price nor the financial viability of the exercise. Therefore your initial comment is not only out of context & rather pointless but it also demonstrates poor command of logic and the inability to stay on task & on topic.
It may be a discussions thread but consider the context and value of your response. (i.e. If you know what his exact criteria are then point out a device that matches them with the addition of an SDCARD slot)

Noob here.
Just ordered/purchased a N2A 32gb card for my NT. Anything I should know before it ships?
Thanks.
no, there is nothing special to note
(like what specifically do you think may go wrong)?
I have no idea what to expect lol. That's why I'm asking.
I got the NT in January, and it has since up-dated to 1.4.1, so I didn't know if that would become an issue. Or if any other glitches are out there.
I'm fairly adept at muddling my way through technical things, but I have been known to have to call my son when I've muddled to much.

Depends on who you got it from! Hope you bought it from Albertwertz or one of the developers here which made it all possible...there's folks out there making a buck on their backs!
Good luck...post questions here...make sure to check unknown sources, both USB debugging boxes and disable OTA updates (download Hidden Settings App from Android Market to do this if your card doesn't already do this for you). If no instructions with your card lots of helpful videos on youtube by Albertwertz on assorted stuff or read through development threads. Note you need the latest Hidden Settings app from the market (I.e., update what is provided, if given this app and it doesn't offer these options.....fairly recent updates which may not be included in the app on your card depending on where you got it! Also, back up ur stuff first!
Yes support developers here, N2A take others work and get the profit.

I have no intention of purchasing a card from n2a, but I do have one question I can't seem to find the answer to.
It looks like they have mastered a way to boot and run entirely from the card and not touch the tablet software. How are they able to do this without rooting the device. If they can do it, it seems like there should be a way for anyone to do this without going through n2a.
BTW, I did contact them about bluetooth and was told that they still haven't figured out a way to turn it on yet.

It all resides on the bootloader and kernel first bootloader needed to be cracked in order to advance the development for this device now you see that we even have a new kernel 3.0 made from scratch. N2A not capable enough i think. We lost loglud because of N2A, he said he will not post anything else in this forum.
About the Bluetooth and other "missing" things is just a matter of time, devs have to figure it out many things like drivers, the lack/incomplete drivers to make things to work as they should and that was in purpose by B&N. Hopefully fattire find the missing code in order to make Bluetooth work.

Hi All - 1st time poster and new to the Nook world. I'm very impressed with all of you on here...great stuff and it shows a lot of hard work and dedication.
I don't want to hi-jack the OP but I do have a question that is related.
Just received my refurb NC the other day and I plan to go the CM7 route by way of SD card. I do have the opportunity to swap the NC (AT NO COST) for a NT. I would plan on using CM7 on the Tablet as well by way of SD card.
The question is, do you recommend keeping the NC or swapping it for the NT?
Thanks in advance all!
IMPORTANT EDIT: This swap would be for an 8GB NT NOT the 16GB variety.
Swap. NT has much better hardware. Cm7 works wonderfully on it and it will only continue to get better. Can't stress the difference in hardware enough. Night and day.

The only way they have gotten ANYTHING is by following XDA developers. Of course "they" haven't figured out bluetooth...because XDA developers haven't figures out bluetooth. As soon as an XDA dev finds a cure for bluetooth...they will conveniently get theirs working as well. These people are freakin leeches and making a profit off of XDA devs by selling their work. They can only make money if you hand them the money.
There are many users out there who are either not tech savvy enough to muck around with experimental stuff themselves, or just don't have the time of keeping up with all the progresses XDA developers make here. Those users don't mind paying for the convenience and support.

Agreed. There are plently of users around here that maybe aren't considered "recognized developers" but are capable and willing to give support and solve problems, that's what a community's all about.
Read the threads, learn, and pass it on. Support the developers by donating or just hitting the Thanks button, instead of throwing money at leeches. Okay, rant over, haha.

Then why bother with the NT in the first place? Why not just throw money at Apple, or Samsung or Asus and have a convenient tablet with a stock rom and kernel and lots of in-place support?
At least with that scenario, the money goes to hardware development, instead of to middlemen, profiting off of other's work.
Not to mention, "tech-savvy" (i hate that phrase, btw), is an acquired trait. Nobody on here came out of the womb with a knack for android development. They read, they learned, they experimented. Is a similar willingness to learn too much to ask from people, who of their own volition, pointed their browser at a development forum ( emphasis on development)?

Well, there is the galaxy tab 7, and the galaxy note as far as form factor goes.
The cost, is exactly my point. How does it make sense to buy a +/- $200 tablet, and then, instead of following some simple well written (and filmed) step by step tutorials, to fork over more money to a company for what is essentially a very overpriced sd card?

Let's roll the clocks back a year.
In 2011, a collaboration was formed to develop a kernel for the sgs2 in the interest of improving battery life and performance, in addition to new features and tricks. Thus, from the combined efforts of netarchy and Ninpo(Hacre), Ninphetamine was born. After we took a step back, we saw that the features introduced in Ninphetamine (such as voltage control, gpu clock control, etc) went on to be adapted to other kernels, and even evolved to become more feature-rich as developers began to expand on the original designs. It is pretty safe to say that Ninphetamine was well received, and left its mark.
Now fast forward to today. Samsung has seen fit to release a new flagship, the sgs3, with its beast of a quad core Exynos chip.
In the interests of improving battery life and performance on the sgs3, Ninpo and I have decided to pool our collective minds on a kernel, through which we aim to improve the sgs3 experience for everyone... and raise an army of rabid naked bunnies with which to take over the world.
Ninphetamin3 has arrived.

In August 2011 a crack development unit left the SGS2 kernel scene, with patches they didn't commit. This duo promptly escaped from the harrassment of noobs to the outside where the sun shines. Today, their work still wanted by XDA and users of Samsung phones they return to the SGS3's good fortune. We came and found a problem...
Well several, actually. Samsung as usual, as is their wont, released a phone of epic proportions (seriously, this screen is huge guys), with typically beastly hardware inside and have yet again half assed the software side of things. Well...let's be fair, they quarter assed it this time as the ROM is at least pretty good. The kernel however...we know how this story ends right?
Wrong. We know how it begins. Samsung bash away at the Linux kernel like a fat kid on a brick who's been told there's chocolate inside, with all the finesse of an epileptic quadraplegic on the dance floor and release it as "good enough". In their defence, looking at the HTC One X, "good enough" is an overstatement, they'd have to actually forget to include a kernel for the great unibody failure of Taiwan to get a look in. That said, there has been unsurprisingly lots and lots of room for improvement, so...
...we're baaaaaaaack!
In a world plagued with terrible sequels the Ninphetamine team returns as a beacon, a rose among thorns, this time to the SGS3 with Ninphetamin3, a feature rich, fast and expectedly awesome kernel for the awesome piece of hardware that is the Samsung Galaxy S III and if nothing else we can at least show that the SGS3 is more than a fancy software upgrade over the SGS2 in an oversized package and that it does, in fact, contain some pretty fast and well performing hardware. The wait has been much shorter than it was for the SGS2 but here we are with the keys Samsung didn't want you to have until umpteen updates down the road to show you what your device can really do.
netarchy has already gone over the specifics and I know probably no-one is actually reading this post as they search frantically for the download links after getting about four words into the first post. However, I am going to include anyway that people had better read every single word in every single post up to and including the post containing download links because...
POST FIVE makes a return. Oh yes, the hall of shame, the collection of idiots, the grouping of morons, the box of ineptitude is back and I promise you right now will be every bit as brutal as the original if not more so. If you sit there reading this post and find yourself mouthing each word in silence as you read then please, leave this thread, it is not for you. You will end up in Post Five where you get a throroughly embarrassing yet deserved telling off from myself, you will want to cry to moderators however your cries shall fall upon the deafest of ears. This is not a thread for the stupid or the moronic, it is not a thread for the flash junkies who have to have "L" and "R" drawn on the bottom of their shoes to avoid confusion. If you don't know why you're flashing this kernel, other than of course the fact it's been put together by the best development team since Gates said to Allen "Hey...I have an idea...", then may I suggest you go and bother Gokhanmoral, he's far more pleasant than I.
For the developers, moderators and people who remember what Android 1.5 looked like (I'll give you a moment to finish vomiting) that remain, please proceed to the next post and I hope you enjoy using Ninphetamin3 and the subsequent updates as much as we enjoyed putting it together.
It is of course only natural to have people to thank with projects like this, even when you're as awesome as we are so without further ado...
I would like to personally thank netarchy for agreeing to come back on board with a new Ninphetamine project. He is, as he as always been since I've known him, my perfect foil, hence without whom Ninphetamin3 would not exist in the excellent shape that it is in. Thank you netarchy, it is an honour and a privelege to work with you again.
We would both like to thank:
Everyone who used Ninphetamine and managed to flash software to their SGS2 without having an aneurism, your enthusiasm is a big reason for why we're back here, doing it all again.
Gokhanmoral. This guy is a relentless soldier and full credit to him for picking up where Ninphetamine left off, improving and refining what we started and even laying foundations for us to return with some of his early work because yeah, we're good, but we're also lazy.
AndreiLux. Thanks to him for some of the fixes to the source he already had in place and thanks to him for putting the effort into pulling fixes and patches in from elsewhere so that I could lazily cherry pick them from his git hub.
Chainfire for making it so I could easily root my phone the day I got it.
Lenny, Fysi, HCDRJacob and jerdog, for flashing and testing our various alpha builds and being my guinea pigs.

Last but not least, Samsung, for giving us a reason to come back.
Happy flashing folks but remember, Post Five awaits its first victim...
FAQ:
Q: Is the kernel compatible with AOSP/CM9?
A: A test build has now been published which is intended to be fully compatible with AOSP. So far, it has only been tested using the CM9 ROM.
Q: My camera preview is all messed up!
A: If you're using LFB based ROM or newer, you need version 1.2.x of the kernel.
Q: OMG I'm not stable when I overclock to X
A: Your phone likely cannot handle the overclock. Get over it, and use a lower clock speed.
Q: How to I adjust the voltages for the cpu?
A: You can either use SetCPU's voltage interface, or you can do it manually through the UV_mV_table interface (if you don't understand how to manually adjust the table, just use SetCPU).
Q: What are the voltage limits?
A: The ceiling is 1500mV, the floor is 600mV.
Q: How do I overclock the cpu?
A: Use a tool such as SetCPU to handle clock adjustments.
Q: Why is Deadline the only available I/O scheduler?
A: After extensive testing, we've come to the conclusion that Deadline represents the best balance between performance and overall user experience. If you think otherwise you are officially incorrect until we determine otherwise, and shall be subjected to regular beatings by our army of rabid naked bunnies... and/or a place in "Post 5."
Q: Do the exfat modules get loaded?
A: Yes.
Q: How do I use the init.d script support?
A: Busybox needs to be installed into /system/xbin and your scripts go into /system/etc/init.d/
Q: Help, SetCPU wants to set my voltage to over 9000!
A: SetCPU has millivolts hard coded as a unit of measurement. The numbers reported are actually in nanovolts. Use usual millivolt settings (900 for 900mV, 1200 for 1200mV etc) and the clock interface will automatically convert.
Q: How do I use the GPU control interface?
A: Currently you change the values by echoing new values into a specific device file. If you echo 6 values, this will modify the clock up/down thresholds, if you echo 4 values, this will change the GPU speed at each step. For example:
Code:
echo "160 266 350 440" > /sys/class/misc/gpu_clock_control/gpu_control
will restore default clocks.
Code:
cat /sys/class/misc/gpu_clock_control/gpu_control
cat /sys/class/misc/gpu_voltage_control/gpu_control
To see the current values for each setting.
Changelog
Code:
Revision 1.2.2:
- Updated to Samsung Update 4
- Freezes and Wifi dropout issues should be resolved on LG8 roms
Revision 1.2.1:
- Camera fix for LFB Roms
Revision 1.2.0:
- Updated to Samsung Update3 (LFB sources)
- Version bump to reflect base update
- Camera fix declared stable
Revision 1.1.1-AOSP:
-Implemented support for AOSP using commits from the CyanogenMod I9300 kernel.
Revision 1.1.0:
- A configuration option that was designed to keep more memory free
resulted in a huge degradation in performance over time. It has
reverted, and the minion responsible now resides at the bottom
of Crystal Lake.
- GPU Voltage and clock control added.
- The CPU should no longer lock at 1200mhz during GPU load
- No bunnies were harmed during the making of this build.
Revision 1.0.2:
- exfat modules not only load, but actually work!
(The culprit responsible has been reduced to a pile of ash)
- Undervolting floor lowered from 850mV to 600mV
- run-parts support added to init.rc for ROMs that allow use of /system/etc/init.d
Revision 1.0.1:
- The beast responsible for exfat modules not loading has been beaten
senseless with assorted blunt objects.
Revision 1.0.0:
- Initial release
- Overclocking to 1800mhz is possible, while possibly not stable on all phones.
Overclock at your own risk.
- Deadline tweaked and set as default I/O scheduler.
- Module exception to allow loading exfat modules
- SHA1 algorithm improvements
- CRC32 algorithm improvements
- CPU Voltage control interface implemented
- Debug overhead removed from config and assorted places in source code

Moron Purgatory
It was ugly. It was bloody. However, it was completely necessary. The original Post Five soon became a necessity not only as a pressure valve for me but as a beacon of comfort for the many MANY developers on XDA that are plagued by you the user. Not all of you are bad, however much like anything in life there are those examples of people that the laws of Darwin should have claimed long ago and I'm here as his sweeper.
Bottom line, if you're a grade A idiot, moron and/or buffoon that manages to make a post so spectacularly stupid or one that exhibits a clear lack of reading any of these first five posts then you will appear here and it will not be pretty. You'll likely cry, perhaps even soil yourselves and no-one will care.
Despite this warning, this post will no doubt soon be filled with shining examples of justification for euthanasia so be prepared for some serious

Well la de da, Warm_ice is STILL waiting less than twenty four hours after the thread was created guys, looks like we'd better wrap this one up, remove the links and close the thread because we didn't come up with the goods for Warm_ice on HIS schedule! Here's a hint champ, I don't care that you're still waiting and neither does anyone else. In fact I'm going to ask moderators for your IP address so that when we do release an AOSP/CM compatible version I can prevent you from downloading it. Why? Because I can and you're obviously the type of ungrateful impatient cretin that must be an absolute JOY to be around at birthdays and Christmas. "Wow thanks for all these free presents and all this effort mum and dad but I'M STILL WAITING FOR MY NEW CAR GOD YOU ARE SUCH FAILURES AS PARENTS!". At least now we know who paid for your shiny new SGS3 eh? Kindly retreat back to your basement hovel and flash someone else's kernel and go bother them, congratulations less than 100 posts in and not only did you make Post Five I'm actually annoyed at how boring your overinflated sense of entitled stupidity is.

This post gave me a headache. I almost skipped over it, then I noticed that you claim to be from Britain, so you're either an illiterate moron or seriously lazy. Given that you completely missed netarchy's advocacy of using SetCPU I'm going to assume both, since the fact you're obviously an illiterate moron isn't up for debate. Why are you typing "kernal" when this thread is riddled with examples of the correct spelling? "Some kernal devs don't recommend it for they're kernals", what? KernEl developers are not kernEls, how could they be? What are you basing this outrageous claim on? Did you mean "their" instead? Would you mind taking off the boxing gloves next time you decide to post, read the damn thread and put more effort in than a first year primary school student please, it's embarrassing and offensive. Like your posts.

There were a few posts that was purposely created just for the sake of some humour, and I know those posts were from some distinguished developers, like yourself. Perhaps you guys have gone a long way back. However, when someone posts some other banal talks, they were immediately taken to post 5. For those who doesn't know, they will think that you are practicing elitism and double standards. One set of rules for people you know and respect, and another set for people you did not give a hoot.

When someone posts what is obviously a joke dumb question it can either be taken for what it is and promptly ignored or removed by moderators. I'm not going to respond to every "hurr this kernal not work on my HTC" post that's just trying to get themselves into Post Five and yes, it happens, a lot. It's not "One set of rules for people I know", it's one set of rules for the incredibly stupid and those rules haven't changed since the last thread.

Here you go again. It's highly amusing that you're sitting on a high horse preaching at me, but you'd have a lot more weight behind your post if you stopped trying to sound clever and misusing words/sayings. There is nothing about this thread that is any kind of reflection of my well being. Both my physical and mental health are fine and if the internet thought that either of those were not, well, I care less about that than I would if I heard the news that your hands had fallen off and could never post again.
g00ndu said:
The other thing I find it offending in post 5 is the type of insults you have put there. While it is still your prerogative to put what is written there, do bear in mind that you never should have brought the poster's family members in the picture. What wrong have they done to deserve this? You can insult the poster's intelligence, or rather the lack of it, you can insult their laziness for not reading and searching, but never never bring those insults into the family.

Again your completely misinformed view is here to haunt you. I've insulted no-one's family in Post Five or any other post in this thread. If you properly understood what you were being morally outraged by, you'd understand that. I will point out however, that you don't actually care about the rights and wrongs of this thread because if you did, you'd have hit the Report Post button and moved on. Instead what you are is a member of the morality brigade and like me with stupid people, you salivate with delight at the thought of giving someone a good stern talking to when they offend your moral compass. The difference? I'm good at it.
g00ndu said:
@ those who thanked Hacre in post 5
I know you guys had a good laugh when seeing those comments in post 5, but thanking Hacre for those laughter at the expense of the poster's noobness, means that you are condoning those insults, and in turn, made Hacre justified his insults. Do have some consideration and humility.

Right, can you sod off with trying to sound clever and instead coming across as a complete moron? Humility has nothing whatsoever to do with people finding something funny or not. Abstaining from clicking the Thanks button doesn't suddenly make someone humble. No-one needs to justify my ridicule of the ineptly stupid for me and I justify it by the fact that they deserve it. There's no excuse for dumb unless you're genuinely mentally ill so if you provide me with your Downs Certificate I'll gladly apologise to you.
g00ndu said:
@ those who posts nonsensical comments
This is a development thread, not a helpdesk! Neither is it a wishlist! Just report the issues and bugs and attach your logcat so that it helps the developer quickly resolve the issue and improve their next builds. If you just post for the sake of quick fix, then this is definitely not the right place for you. Neither do you have the right phone.

I couldn't give an aerial fornication who finds what offensive.
Person A's UV findings give a good guideline on how far PERSON A can push their device. It doesn't give you, me, Person B or anyone guideline at all. One person can drop 100mV and be stable, others can't drop a drop below what they're running at without major issues. It is an utterly pointless discussion for an utterly pointless thread participated in by utterly pointless people like yourself. The fact you think it's a guideline at all demonstrates you shouldn't be flashing stuff to your phone, let alone playing with voltages.
Oh I also think you'll find it is I, the co-owner of this thread, that gets to determine what is and isn't on topic. Development and kernel feedback is "on-topic". Pointless discussion about who can reach what voltage on their individual phone is as useful to this thread as you lot comparing weight and colour of your morning ****e and whether it floated or not. So kindly shove it up your arse and get out.

OK. I'm going to give you this one chance to cut the bull**** because this isn't even remotely close to even psychiatry 101. You're not a psychiatrist. You've misspelled schizophrenia at least once while replying to me, one would expect a psychiatrist to do better than that. Not only that an actual professional would insist upon more exposure than some posts of text on the internet, because text on the internet is largely diagnostically useless. You know why? I could be anyone talking about anything and any amount of it could be utterly made up. You cannot diagnose a mental illness over the internet based upon some text at least not without a pattern to contrast against. You do not have this so you're either a f**king idiot psych student who after five minutes of breast feeding from a psych teacher you think you know the planet, or you're really a bat**** insane psych student for whom five minutes diagnosing a Twilight loving vampire embracing fat female means you know how to spot a shut in. The very fact that you're so bad at this yet decide to come and lecture ME is utterly offensive, not to me because you made it so trivial to dismiss you, but to the people who like to read good entries to post 5 and are yet let down by the fact some gutter trash like you saw fit to **** his opinion on my thread and my posts and therefore left himself open to ridicule. One can only hope your self esteem can handle this because your sadness ridden posts suggest you cannot. It truly would be a loss to...someone...no one on XDA of course, if you decided to kill yourself.

Time for some truth, since you're apparently an expert.
My father wasn't around much and my mother left before I even had any kind of cognitive skills or for a simpler explanation, was gone before I knew what it was like to be two years old. So not only was I not spoiled, I was arguably neglected. My past nicknames are, from 1994: Bundy (because of Al Bundy, my name is Alex), Bunders, Jubei, Ninpo and Hacre. Nothing in there is remotely related to omnipotence of having any kind of God complex at all. I've backed my rebuttal up with some real, personal, get to know me, balls to the wall honesty...are you as brave? Please tell us what drives you to pretend to be a psychiatrist on the internet when you can't even diagnose someone who pretends to have a God complex for the sake of entertaining his followers, but really, honestly, doesn't give a solitary f**k. Answers on a postcard please, you utter, utter moron.
Didn't expect some f**king honesty in my response did you? Diagnose that you armchair psych piece of flotsam.

BANG HEAD!!
I have been flashing ROMs/Kernels etc for about a year so no a little. After testing Doris new 9.43v15 kernel I lost root, nothing unusual there, could get it back simply by dirty flashing PAC ROM again. Decided I wanted to go back to an earlier back up of Carbon ROM when I had Doris 9.43 earlier version running fine with no unroot issues. Used Hawkerpauls GS2 ROMnuke to clean my ROM then discovered nothing worked in CWM (just click and back to CWM first menu screen). So I powered off to which I got this message: root maybe lost - re root now yes/no - I clicked yes and then boot loop on Samsung logo. Tried to go back to CWM, CWM screen appears briefly with logo in bottom right, however blank screen and no menu for recovery.
Unfortunately my mini usb post is knackered on my phone, will charge but will not connect to pc. I have been using ADB wireless to connect with my phone but don't know how/if I can find this without phone switched on and running a ROM. Remember the ROM wipe I mentioned earlier - problem - NO ROM TO BOOT INTO! - Phone enters download mode fine though.
Only thing I can think off is sending my phone off and paying £50 excess on my insurance to get them to fix it, I have checked with a couple a local phones shop but they will charge £30 to fix it but say it could take 5 days! These are both last ditch solutions as I'm sure you can all appreciate I really don't want to be without my phone
I have searched XDA but can't find any solutions to this specific problem, if anyone has any ideas or knows where I meant find info that could help I would be very very grateful
SOLUTION:
Finally - it is done, my phone is resurrected and able to flash with pc odin once more. The solution - pay a guy £25 to fit new usb port!
What I have learnt:
If root is lost it is best to flash a new kernel with root before using gs2romnuke
That usb connection is really important so as to have access to odin via pc if all else fails
That some people are very good at laughing at others but seemingly struggle to laugh at themselves lol
Oh - and that M.O.P. = Mobile Odin Pro - I just worked it out all on my own haha
Thank you to those who have tried to help.
1.only an idiot flashes stuff without having the facility to use pc odin.
2.use the backup phone you have in case your primary phone develops a fault.
3.read the usb threads and order one from ebay.
4.or pay the repairer to fix usb port.
5.use mobile odin pro next time.

I thought Q&A was supposed to be friendly? Having looked at your profile and reading the posts that others have 'thanked' you for I can see you are consistently rude. I wonder - how do you think this could possibly help anyone? It's people like you that make XDA extremely off putting to new people who are trying to learn. I thought XDA was supposed to be a community based on being helpful? Were you never new once? Or maybe when you were you were bullied yourself and that's why you have now become one!
As stated in my post, I have come to the conclusion that I would need to replace my USB port, I really can't see for the life of me how using mobile odin pro could have helped when I had already lost root from within my ROM?
If anyone does have any suggestions for regaining use of my phone without replacing the usb I would be very grateful
Never mind the rude remarks buddy, because he still did try to help you, so forgive and forget, as for your problem because of the nuke script your recovery has also been wiped off and since you don't have anything on your phone to boot with(no kernel, no recovery or anything else for the matter) you need to somehow get a kernel or something inside and sadly for you the only working option is through a PC by using heimdall or Odin. So I suggest you read up on methods for replacing the USB manually or get someone else to do it, there are excellent guides by user keithross which might help you.

4. I found a local dealer who has the part in stock and can fix my phone tomorrow for £25 which I agree is 'chicken feed' in the scheme of things.
5. What is M.O.P. app ?
Our international friends may not know what NHS is so I will explain - NHS = National Health Service, I don't think USA and other regions of the world are as fortunate to have these services. Perhaps you struggle to understand the nuances of convivial conversation, are you apergic? If so please accept my apologies, my step son is aspergic and he has know idea of social norms. If not, are you narcissistic? That I would say is true !!!
P.S. - if you can't take it don't give it out, I could go on like this all week long as I really have nothing better to do because I am off work and ill!! I'd much rather just be friends as I'm sure you have a lot to give and I could learn much, just play nice after all this is all in a forum that states:
"Samsung Galaxy S II I9100 > Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting ... [ Newbies][Experienced Users][RCs] New members friendly Q&A thread."
- which part of that was it that you didn't understand?
How are you aggrieved exactly, what is it that you think I have done - stated the truth about your behavior?
I dont know what apergic is......but im definitely sadistic. You can accept or disregard anything I say,and also in life you get criticism thrown at you....its life.
After my input, you may now be in a better situation for future standing regarding the importance of being able to resurrect a phone by having the ability to use pc odin.
Once you hang around here longer, youll see loads of other characters, like you, that are totally oblivious about the importance of pc odin. Then they act like they cant live without a phone.Question is,how the hell did they survive 20 years ago before mobile phones were in service etc.
Ive nothing against you personally,I just find it ridiculous how people like you,and the othets, take unneccesary chances with a device that they cant seem to live without.
And finally....at least that council phone works.....lol

LOL - for you:
Asperger's syndrome
1. a developmental disorder related to autism and characterized by awkwardness in social interaction, pedantry in speech, and preoccupation with very narrow interests.
I get your point, but really, there was very little I could do other than what I am doing now, which is to get it fixed! I reiterate - the phone was rooted prior to the usb getting broken, so, in affect what you are saying is that people should not root their phones if there is risk of not being able to connect to a pc, which means no one should ever risk rooting.
I think there is a place for your 'flaming' approach to people who don't know as much as you, but it certainly not here in a 'friendly, new peoples' forum. Fire away all you like in developers forums, I think you should stick to the rules here though and I suspect you would be the first to point out when others don't follow forum rules.
Your point about me saying 'I couldn't live without my phone' is ridiculous, it was just a figure of speech, if your car broke, would you not want it fixed asap? Not a lot of difference. I think you are making a big fuss over nothing, simply semantics.
I just think it's a shame that you feel the need to try to embarrass new people who are simply asking for help in a forum that is set up for just that Are you really that insecure? Is your self esteem so low?? LOL
Maybe you could spend your time learning about the s2 than doing free psychological evaluations. You keep mentioning being rooted, whats that got to do with the price of cheese.Theres plenty of people on here have done absolutely nothing to their phone, and end up in the same, or worse situation than your in.
Also, since you think your so smart in sniffing about my posts/profile/state of mind, you could maybe hit the report button, and see what a mod makes of any rule infringements.
As for your "doing without a car" scenario, lets me just point this out;
I can use my wifes car I.e we have a backup car
I can do without my car for 2 months;I just done it a week ago
When I can actually be bothered working....I do it in my taxi
I here the iphone5 is pretty good
Edit:I mentioned mobile odin pro because most of the regulars on here say that it has less flashing problems/better success rate than recovery/cwm or pc odin. This has been discussed/argued about in the past.

Ooooo - did I get under your skin or something? Getting a bit close to the mark?? Just as you enjoy making your opinions public and having your say, so I am doing the same. Remember it was your choice to join in on this thread and start being insulting. If you don't like what you have got back maybe you will think twice about the way you communicate on a registered new peoples Q&A. You never know when that seemingly young little dog might bite back. If you don't want people to look at your profile then I suggest you keep it 'private' - there is a button for it, have a look. Isn't that line "I here the iphone5 is pretty good" getting a bit old now? I have seen you use it in quite a few of your recent posts, maybe you could think of a new one lol!
As I said to you previously, if you don't like getting it back maybe you shouldn't start in the first place.
BTW - your opening comments are ridiculous, what you say makes no sense - what point exactly were you trying to make anyway? Of course people come on here because they end up having problems, and they come to learn and try and find solutions.
Like I said, I have all week to continue this, although I agree with you that our time could be better served in actually helping others than bickering.
I have asked you some questions in this post, they really don't require a response as they are rhetorical (that means for you to think about) Now I suggest we agree to disagree, stop squabbling like school children and end this now. I am quite secure in myself, although I suspect your pride could take much more of a battering else you wouldn't have reacted so badly to my response's to you. And yes, I do indeed have the training and skills to 'psychoanalyze' as you say.
Maybe we can both stop taking our selves so damned seriously, as for reporting you, why would I want to do that, maybe just to give a moderator a good laugh? Now, shall we agree to move on?
That thread you mentioned earlier is actually a "sticky", which is slightly different than this area of the forum.Your topic is not in that thread, it is a separate entity.
Now,Im going to evaluate you;
I think that rather me calling you,or actually "inferring" that you are an idiot, would have received the same reaction as if someone else had said anything along the lines of
"Why are you opening up a new thread etc"
or
"Stop being lazy and search as this has been covered many times before"
You would view them comments are unhelpful, and maybe start doing free evaluations on them.
It is you that is more upset about our exchanges,as your veiled attempts at insults/abuse demonstrates.
You contradict yourself and if you dont like someones answers, you alter them to suit your own ends.
Your very, very easily wound up,and display a inability for rising above criticism.
Now Ive wasted enough time on this,so Im not commenting any further in your thread.

LOL! seems to me like it is actually you that is struggling with 'rising above criticism' and yes, you are right you have wasted a lot of time commenting in my thread, I'm sure it will give others a good chuckle though. You see, what you fail to understand is that I simply don't care about what you say about or think off me, I do however care about the next new guy that wants a bit of help and that's exactly why I'm prepared to stand up to your bullying nonsense.
Now maybe after all you do possess psychic abilities as you clearly seem to know what I think and would do in other circumstances than I have even considered, the thing is though, that no one else did say any of those things, it was only you!
And contrary to what you say the only other senior member that has commented was indeed extremely helpful and fill of useful suggestions rather than sarcastic criticism. I don't think this exact topic has been covered many times before and if it had, why has no one directed to a the relevant thread? Interesting huh
Have you looked at @Hopper8 thread about problems with odin. And have you tried cleaning the usb port. Different leads? Many things you can try and most if not all are in that thread.

Tried cleaning USB and there was a shed load of fluff and goodness knows what in there, also tried cleaning with a tooth brush and surgical spirit, still get failed to recognize USB error on pc though. I will look at the thread you suggested now. Thank you for pointing me in the right direction. Edit: I know the lead and ports on my pc are fine because they work perfectly on my wife's i9100.
Edit: Thanks, excellent thread by hopper8, I will be referring others to that thread, unfortunately nothing there that helps in my particular situation, just going to have to pay £25 to get new USB out in tomorrow as I don't fancy attempting it myself, looks kind of tricky!
This topic has been covered here more times this year than I've had hot dinners. Seems people's USB ports/boards are dying as the phones are getting close to/out of warranty.
As to why people wouldn't direct you to/give you a link to a specific thread, we have these two things called Google & XDA search. We don't spoonfeed stuff to n00bs purely because they ask to be/are incapable of doing the aforementioned searches. Why would I take x amount of my time to find a thread for you when you're more than capable of doing it yourself ?

I disagree, XDA is big and Google huge and after searching extensively I could find no conclusive answer to my specific query. That doesn't mean to say it's not there, just that I couldn't find it. I see on this forum time and time again new people struggling to navigate their way around these forums, perhaps if people were given a little more help to learn to 'search' maybe people would learn quicker saving the less tolerant purple on xda their precious time and effort to read what they consider to be tiresome threads.
Which leads me to my next thoughts, if your time is so precious and this specific subject has been covered so many times and is so boring, why would you 3 read it let alone comment??

I have tried to find my device using adb but because my USB port is knackered my PC doesn't recognize the phone which means adb doesn't see it also. I used to use adb via WiFi but understand this is only possible to do once the phone is switched on and running a ROM. Since I wiped using gs2romnuke I don't have a ROM to boot into, I have looked to see if there is a way to get adb via WiFi from download or boot loop but can't find any way to do this.
Thank you for your time and help Andrew, it is much appreciated

I have to say, no way you're getting it going again unless you can PC flash using Odin/Heimdall after running that ROMNuke script (I use the same script & have had similar issue once.) However, that brings me to my next point.. I was able to flash stock via Odin no problem in download mode. My USB port was working fine, because I'd recently replaced it. I know you rooted your phone before the USB port stuffed up, but moral of the story is, fix hardware defects immediately (volume keys, power keys, USB ports, whatever it is). You never know when you'll need them functioning correctly, as you unfortunately found out.
Not trying to have a dig, that's a friendly word of advice from my own experience.

This is NOT a X201. This is a low end copycat by a "shanzai" bandit company.
@llepen
So this was the 1:1 copy you mentioned elsewhere? I didn't examine the images in detail so my mistake. Wonder who they are sourcing the PCBA's through.

yes 1:1 copycat of the 512MB+4GB not made by us (Umeox factory) but by a local PCB maker which has copied the circuitry (even the design flaws), it's common in China so we usually add one or two resistors that we actually do not connect to make them lose more time figuring out why we added them. That's the funny part, the problem with the firmware we provide, they can boot it on their units... real bandit work
smart! you should have added more incorrct resistors. To the point wher they burn whole device
MT6572 - Umeox x201??
Could you please clarify...
MT6572 is the chipset used in these units, right?
Umeox x201 is the firmware or stock ROM used on these units?
TrueSmart, Sim Valley AW-414/420, Vapirius AX-3, XTouch are variants of ...?
What other variants are out there?
Thank you.
x201 is the Umeox model number.

which part you dont't understand?
1. that they have stolen the PCB design to make a perfect 1:1 copy of omate truesmart
2. or that the stolen design had two design flaws introduced specifically on purpose, to make this stealing useless?
your Z8 has faulty transistors in it. It won't work sometimes.

Well, the stolen design has the same spurious resistors on it the real x201s have, so unless the thieves have connected them up in a way that is different from how the x201s were wired, the result is the same.
In any case, don't buy a cheaper knock-off of an x201 device from these thieves. They are cheaper for a reason.
You will find you have the same problems with the firmware as us TrueSmart owners do, anyway. Buy a used TrueSmart off eBay and it will probably be cheaper anyway.

@ cosurgi - I asked what X201 meant and about the variants - you're so intoxicated with your ranting that you didn't read the questions. You should really vent your frustrations at the manufacturers of the Z8.
Most company's copy each other even Apple, Google. Your real issue is not the 'stealing', but rather that they copied something that you may be associated too, else you'd be complaining about a lot of company's even your own who I'm sure at some point have copied something.
If you have any measurable proofs that the Z8 is inferior to the x201, please enlighten us? I'm not saying that the Z8 is better nor that the Omate is better, because I don't have any evidence.
As user 'trent999' pointed out your claim that "your Z8 has faulty transistors in it. It won't work sometimes" is also untrue. If the Z8 manufacturers have acted illegally then you need to deal with them directly if there is a patent or any type of copyright on the x201?

please accept my apologies.
Also I'm sympathetic to omate, because creating the PCB design was expensive, and the thieves didn't need to pay that upfront cost.
Of course would be much better if it was open sourced (the PCB) but it is difficult to find experts willing to work for free IMHO.
Ideal if omate paid experts and immediately open sourced their PCB design, but IMHO that's a receipe for suicide, since other manufacturers didn't pay the experts so they can sell their units for lower price.
Well they do a better job of being honest about the specs, such as megapixels of the camera, not being waterproof, processor speed MHz, additional accessories, companion app still not working, Play store, etc, etc. And their shipment dates are probably also not half a year off. So I'm many ways this "fake" watch is actually more honest and real than the Omate version.

@cosurgi - No love lost here. - it is really really tough when ones hard work seems to be or goes unappreciated.
@pizzaman79 - it must be annoying waiting so long and its no compensation, but most large projects, ventures are delayed, due to the sheer complexity from planning to delivery to post support. I'm sure Laurent Le Pen is under a lot of pressure trying to deliver on time.
I take it you're still waiting for yours?
It is amazing how much technology they have packed into a little device. If the battery life was longer (and i know its difficult without changing the thickness) it would be a legend of a device - minus the delivery issues. :fingers-crossed:

I got mine a few days ago. I think it's an amazing piece of hardware. If only they would have been more honest in the pr. Now they had to announce disappointment after disappointment. It's quite a long list if you add it all up. And that's such a shame, because what happens at a psychological level is this:
People read about the TrueSmart on Kickstarter and get excited and become a backer. Then they get disappointing news ten times in a row. One happy feeling, followed by ten sad feelings. Until all the excitement is gone.
It would be better to start with lower expectations and maybe 25% less backers, and add positive news after positive news so people and the press get more and more excited in stead of less and less.
Tl;Dr the hardware is great, but will it be good enough to make up for the psychology of their pr?
"Shame shame I know your name"
So for new buyers the following issue still remain?
1. 1GB version runs 1Ghz instead of 1.3 Ghz
2. Not certified dust or waterproof.
3. Using the charging cradle doesn't allow pressing the buttons while charging, such as to snooze or disable an alarm.
4. Inserting a SD card voids the warranty for water resistance.
5. Have to apply the security patch.
Any others issues?
Would there be any benefit in buying the Z8 to compare? They only have the 512MB /4GB model. I reckon other than point 3 above it'll be very similar.
Between the EC309 & Omate + other x201 models which yields better battery life in real life use?
Is there an alternative to the Omate?

At the begin of the second year, my phone's motherboard has been short circuit by a water damage. This short circuit caused batter draining. So it drains anytime even the phone is completely off. I had to use the phone with this issue for 2 years. I couldn't buy a new motherboard because dollar rate is high on Turkey and I couldn't afford it.
Now I want to apology from every moderators, developers and members that I disturb by asking battery life on each topic and being too aggressive sometimes. I know I was about to get banned from the forum because of those behaviors. But I want you to know that I wasn't trolling, spamming or kidding. I was asking battery life because it was more important for me than any user who use a normal phone. But I promise that I'm never gonna ask it again no matter how would it be important for me. I apology again to become too much aggressive sometimes but if you'd have to live with a broken phone, I'm sure it'd make you aggressive too sometimes.
I'm still using this phone and I have to use it for a while because of the dollar rate in Turkey. I have a small request for you. If you have a le max 2 that you don't use, it'd be greatly helpful to send me its motherboard for a proper price.
Best regards and apologies. Dear XDA family, believe me or not, I love you all

Heyyo N-Gage4ever, Oh I see, no worries bud I can understand the frustration with a device acting up.
I dunno how comfortable you feel with it, but you could open up your device and then use cotton swabs and isopropyl 99% and try to clean the liquid residue.
Resealing your x2 afterwards would require some new double sided adhesive tape like this one I used on my x2.
https://www.amazon.ca/MMOBIEL-Adhesive-Tablets-Digitizer-Display/dp/B00PVWMTA6
The most important part about opening up an x2 is to heat the device enough to open up the screen without damaging it. It should be hot enough that you can't hold the device for long so I'd recommend using thin gloves with rubber grip and two suction cups.
If you're not comfortable doing this? You could try asking a smart device repair shop... Alebit, their repair estimate might be high and you might be better off saving the money instead for something like an external battery you can just carry with you.
Good luck!
PS, LineageOS 16.0 does have a QuickCharge toggle thanks to lucchetto :good:

Good luck!

Dear Mard,
Thank you so much for your respond. On 3rd April, I gave my phone a device repair shop. They opened up my device and after a few days they said me that there is a short circuit on motherboard that drains my battery. And they also said they need another motherboard to fix the issue.
Can you please look at this article? https://www.ubreakifix.com/blog/all-about-iphonecell-phone-water-damage It explains my issue perfectly. Especially this passage:
Let’s look at some of the other consequences of a short circuit. Like we showed above, if the drop of water stays on the circuit for too long, the battery will drain and eventually die all together. Don’t believe me? Try connecting the positive and negative terminals of a battery together. The battery will begin to get hot as it quickly discharges and eventually reaches a state where it cannot recharge. This is a very common issue in water damaged phones and if left unchecked, the lithium ion battery found in the device can be irreversibly damaged. Other parts that commonly short out are charge ports, flex cables and mechanical buttons.
PS. Thank you for the info and all your works. The developer setting thing was a joke you know..
Oh hmm, ok yeah if there is damage to the circuit? Unfortunately, it does sound like the motherboard itself would need to be replaced... is there any offers online such as eBay where people are selling their x2's for spare parts only? That could be something to check into.
Otherwise? There is a lot of pretty darn good Xiaomi devices for good budgets that might work for you. I'd recommend of course checking their 3G and LTE frequency bands to ensure they're compatible to your carrier before buying them... otherwise? The LeEco Le 2 isn't as powerful as our Le Max 2, but they can be found for pretty cheap these days and also have good custom ROM support.
As for the setting for QC? It has been requested quite a bit tbh and luckily lucchetto revamped x2's devicesettings to include a QuickCharge toggle and his implementation didn't even require modifying our selinux policies which was nice too, so it was an easy include for LineageOS 16.0. He is the maintainer for RevengeOS and his trees are currently LineageOS based which is why his commit was super easy to bring to LineageOS 16.0.

Yes. I checked lots of site including of Ebay but only Aliexpress in that I could find motherboard. And the price is too high there. Then I thought it'd be a nice idea to share my situation on XDA. Because there are plenty of X2 users here and I'm sure some of them don't use their phone anymore.... Because our phone is old now.

Well we are in a financial crisis as country and our local currency became valueless to much against dollar and euro. So there isn't a cheap device for us. But LG V30's price seems proper. I'm planning to buy it in the future. But I have to move on with my current phone for now

The price of the motherboard in China is very user-friendly, because after LeTV is gone, many people are willing to take out their equipment, and this is a better device :五指交叉:

Hello. Thank you. I couldn't look at here for a while. Please check your inbox.
The prices on Aliexpress is too much for me because of the dollar rate in Turkey. We have financial issues nowadays and our inflation is high. So I need a better price to buy a motherboard.
Have a nice day!
