A slightly bizarre question here, but has anyone tried to cleanly remove the silver Samsung logo on the top of the front cover on the i9100?

It's under the glass so if they've replaced the front bezel.
Would love that as well

It would indeed clean it up just that last touch, but you propably need to replace the cover

I know it doesn't answer your question but I wouldn't ever do something like that. I paid a premium price for a premium product and I want the whole ******* world to know what brand of phone I have!
there's a logo on the back, isn't there?
i'd also love to know. it would make the phone look so much sleeker (the front, anyways)

Yeah, you are right! I might buy an Nexus S instead ;P
Best to check out ifixit. They have articles about how easy it is to repair or replace parts on various 'phone. The Nexus S and Galaxy i9000 are there. It'll only be a while afore the i9100 follows.
For example, here is the Nexus S:
http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Nexus-S-Teardown/4365/1
There is no reason to think that the teardown for the i9100 would not be as good. With this information, one could well remove the front window pane and see how easy it is to alter the Samsung logo.
Black insulating tape? :-D

This might help. covers the full front and its a good quality cover from SGP. ordering mine soon...
Turns out i still don't have enough posts to post outside links . neway, search up "Galaxy S2 SGP Glass". u will find what I'm talking about.
I snapped my battery door in half and I've been searching high and low for an OEM replacement with no luck. The only place I've been able to find one is on eBay. The only problem with that is I don't have an eBay account and I definitely don't want to open a paypal account just to buy a battery door. If anybody knows where I can get obe, I would greatly appreciate it. At the moment, I'm usong an aftermarket door I purchased from Amazon. The problem with that, is it adds a slight amount of thickness to the phone, and most cases won't fit properly bwcause of this.

Haha, Now I know the limit. I bent mine a good 35-40 degrees without it breaking.. I won't be testing that limit anymore.

Thanks for the post, but as I explained in the OP I already have an aftermarket aluminum door. I'm looking for an OEM door but don't have an eBay account or Paypal and not looking to create these accounts just to buy a battery door.

Unfortunately, that's probably what you'll have to do. It's not that hard, and doesn't hurt to have one. I rarely use mine, but it's nice to have when I find something that I want that is only on eBay.

Just ask your local authorized reseller for the one of a dummy phone, a corp store will definitely say no. I have an OEM backup and a metal one coming USPS. If you don't acquire one in a few days, I'll have one for you.

I've called every AT&T store wothin 30 miles, called AT&T warranty replacement, and even Samsung, and nobody has one. I can't believe its this difficult to find a battery door for the most popular phone on the market. I appreciate the offer man. I will let you know in a few days.

Thank you, this helps i was planning to get the Korean 2000mAh battery and mod a cover similar to yours by cutting out the plastic underneath the metal to make it fit, but after your images it looks like the cover might not suffice, still too small

Guys anybody knows where to get the digitizer for the galaxy note i717 or any news when is coming out.......
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
If you need a new screen, Samsung will replace it for 197$, which is currently cheaper than all of the digitizers out at the moment, mine was 2 weeks from my hands back to my hands
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using XDA
Saw a couple on ebay for 284.00 each. Prior to that, ebay again for the n7000 for 250.00. Otherwise, yes, send to Samdung for 197.00 and tehy fo the work too!
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using XDA
Yeah but what i need is the out side glass not the entire LCD for the n7000 on eBay is less then $20
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
I just need to Glass Screen
I saw the replacement glass on ebay for other models too but nothing for the SGH-I717 if any one gets a line on one please post it. I cant see spending about 200 to replace the whole thing from sasung and I cant see spending 200 deductable that att insurance has. if i knew the insurance deductable was 1/3 the cost of a new phone from att never opted for it.
Like the title says I cracked the screen on my g2 and I want to know if I can just replace the digitizer or do I have to buy both the LCD and digitizer. Also is Samsung good at repairs and will they just repair it or give me a new phone?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Premium HD app
go on eBay they go for cheap and they come with a tool kit so its easy for you to do it your self I'm sure Samsung would charge u a lot more then What the phone is worth

http://item.mobileweb.ebay.com/viewitem?itemId=180938952152&index=0&nav=SEARCH&nid=32632668272 but if your looking for the LCD http://item.mobileweb.ebay.com/viewitem?itemId=110930367121&index=1&nav=SEARCH&nid=05935093267 well it cost more for the 2 of them check out the links

Super glue. **** fixes everything!
OK good I was just making sure I could replace just the glass because so many other places say you have to do both the lcd and digitizer and Samsung charges 149 for that repair.

Is it nearly impossible to change just the glass because the digitizer and LCD and glued shut together. If you attempt to change the class, you will easily damage the LCD. I would try to find a broken phone on craiglist or eBay and use it for parts.
Good Luck!

I tried to replace just the top glass on an Infuse.......didn't work but changing the LCD/digitizer assembly was easy.
in a similar fix...
looking to find a used phone for parts (LCD) for the Galaxy S2 i777
just curious if these:
- i727 LCD (Skyrocket)
- i9100 LCD (Euro model i think)
would be compatible so i could broaden my search.
apologize in advance if the question is dumb
Just wanted to know how much I can sell it for to get closer to the cost of getting the note II. How much would you guys sell it for. Its just the glass cracked everything else still works. Plus you can barely tell that its cracked besides the left side.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda app-developers app
Screen repair is about $200 plus the hassle. So a note in good condition is about $300, I would pay $50 for it.
What he said^^
It's arm and a leg trying to replace just the glass and you risk damaging it even worse if you try it yourself with no experience. Not sure what a repair store would charge. But the assembly like stated above, is around $200. You can pick up a decent Note now for $200-250. I'd either keep it, or expect some extremely low offers. A cracked screen is a cracked screen regardless of how minute it may be.
Much to my surprise some kid offered me 185 fir my broken note so I just picked up the note 2 this morning! !!

I don't think insurance covers broken glass. I asked the guy at the AT&T repair center if insurance would have paid for my cracked glass and he said, "no".
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda app-developers app
that's why I didn't get the insurance, the only reason I'd get it is to get it replaced for free if I dropped it or somehow broke the screen...
So what good is their insurance then if it doesn't cover a cracked screen?

Man that sucks. I have two notes. One is mine that I always use and its got a dead pixel. The other one has a cracked screen. Its barely cracked but still. I want to ditch them both and get a galaxy nexus or a note with no issues! Haha

Yea they are still selling for $200 fully operable with a cracked screen. Also samsung will replace it for the same price.

Its not worth fixing.
Unless I could get a screen cheap but still OEM quality.
For that 200 bucks ....your well on the way too a note 2.
I guess it just comes down to your particular situation.
Either way ...sorry about the screen damage ...it sucks ...g

thats why i never get at&t's insurance. i buy all my phones from Best Buy. for $10 a month they cover anything and everything. if you drop it, break the screen, pee on it, your dog chewed it....dont matter, they send it out for repair and you get another one. before i got the Note i had a Dell Streak that i got from Best Buy. i Broke the screen like 5 times and every time they just gave me another one - no questions asked.:good:
