I know the Note can have NFC Unlocked, and I know theres a procedure for it. But i'm curious if the roms have it built in. I tried looking at some of the roms and found none of them mention the NFC.
I ask because I have an HTC One X, and I found I can't root/jb it or anything (2.20). I really want NFC/Google Wallet (also the HTC Doesn't have).

Most ROMs have NFC working perfectly. However, Google wallet will never work on this device.

From how I understand it we are missing hardware related to how the security for Google wallet works which will keep us from using it.

so i've been trying to get google now on ICS, and there's a TON of mods out there that supposedly work for ICS...ive flashed a couple and they don't seem to be working, so i've been reverting back to regular google search...
if anyone else attempts this and gets it working, or knows of a mod that would work on our phone, i would appreciate it
for now I will keep looking into the thousands of pages of xda threads about this lol
well I guess no one else cares or thinks google now is cool but if anyone wants it I flashed this zip and it seems to work just fine

I got it from this thread...

everything seems to be working perfectly for me, except I don't think it's the latest version of google now

Google Now is probably one of the singular reasons I want Jellybean. I loved it when I tried it on a ROM on my original Incredible. I'll be trying that out soon.

Can someone try to set up the sports card I tried but with no success
Same here, I will flash and let you know how it goes, I'm running viper with the older boot_image by the way in case it matters.
Edit: I'll try setting up the sports card too.

No problem. So I just flashed it and its working fine so far, I've never used it before so I'm still playing around with it but what problems were you having with the sports cards? Oh and good find somerandomname1 I've been trying to find one that works!

When you go into setting to set up the cards and click sports it shows edit team but its greyed out and not able to be clicked on
yea sorry, like I said, this isn't the newest version...apparently all the developers stopped developing this for ICS, and you need to newest version to edit the teams I think
My teams are there though since I use this on my Nexus 7 and it's all synced to my google account lol

bah...I've actually never flashed a rom before on any phone. I usually like stock for the most part...there's just usually a few things I want to tweak with mods or apps
the 3-button re-map mod alone has made this phone so much better lol
but it seems I can't find a way to wake w/ volume on this
Not sure if it's been discussed, but if do a moderator can delete. Do you think we will receive S-off?

I can't imagine it not getting worked on.
There's already a kernel replacement that does it on 1.28 devices and a kernel module that will disable it with the stock kernel. You can find them both in the international HTC One forums. Luckily for us the hardware of the AT&T version and the International is almost identical, so ROMs and even kernels are compatible. I'd say go for the kernel module as a safer option, but I'm not sure exactly how to install it.

I thought Koush reported that the normal HTCDev unlock for the One (AT&T+Sprint AFAIK atm) actually has /boot rw permissions added. You still can't flash radios, but apparently you can flash boot straight from recovery.

Yeah, that's the number. It should work just fine on your device, but there's currently an issue where you don't get sound in calls. Another developer has posted a new kernel that *should* give write access to system (S-Off) and doesn't have the issue now, but it has been said that it requires S-Off to install so I'm not really sure what's going on with that. I'll probably be trying it out tomorrow or Tuesday, but until then all I can give you is what I've read in the forums. For the most part, looking in the non-AT&T forums would probably be more useful than here because everything is compatible.

My wife wants to upgrade from her Droid 3 which has a locked bootloader and can't run Cyanogenmod properly. We actually use PagePlus as a carrier, which uses the verizon network but doesn't support 4G LTE, so I had to do a bunch of hacks on my Droid 4 to get data to work at all.
I'll be buying this phone new or used from ebay or craigslist or similar, so I don't need to worry about subsidies or the like. I just want to be able to run Cyanogenmod (or another entirely open-source rom) easily in a supported way so I can be fairly sure it will be kept updated for the forseeable future. I would like to continue running the latest version of cyanogenmod for at least 2 years if possible, so it should be relativly beefy hardware as of now.
The people on #cyanogenmod recommended the GS3, but it does have a locked bootloader, though supposedly with a way to unlock it. They disagreed on whether you could actually unlock it still or not.
Thanks for any help or pointers you can give me!

The question I couldn't find an answer for though, was if it had a locked bootloader. IE, can I run a completely custom kernel on it without KEXEC or similar hacks? What about the GS4?

Yes you can run a custom kernel, rom, recovery, etc.
My signature says it all.
Don't know about GS4, don't own one, got my GS3 too long ago and the funding isn't sufficient for an upgrade haha

But if I buy a used GS3 from some craigslist/ebay guy and it's updated to the latest OTA update, can I still do all of those things? If not what do I need to check before buying?

Yes, you can do all those things.
GS3 come in various models and to get 4G you need to be on the good frequency, but since your carrier doesn't support it, it doesn't really matter I imagine.
Ideally it would still be a VZW GS3.
Has anyone figured out how to get S-view to work on AOSP 4.4.2 roms. More specifically I cannot answer or end a call with the flip cover closed. I switched over from hyperdrive 14 and it worked fine on there. I know it is a tw rom but there must be some way to get this working on the AOSP roms.

All of these features are built into the samsung framework and that is only included in the samsung firmware which google has nothing to do with, so it is not easy to just bring all of that over.

Do you think if you were to flash the dialer from the touchwiz rom that it would work. I downloaded a exposed mod for the note 3 to get s-view working but that dose not seem to work.

Ya I will have to try and find out who that was. I might post something on the rom thread I am using to and see if that dev might be able to come up with something.
It's tied into TW framework, which is proprietary. It's the same reason you can't get anything else TW on AOSP roms.

for everyone trying to get S-view to work I.E. being able to answer or reject calls i have finally gotten it to work. I downloaded the galaxy s4 glove mode app from the playstore and activated both S-view and Glove Mode and now i am able to answer and reject calls. Hope this helps. Also the C-Rom is my secondary ROM i could not get it to work with Multi ROM 1 or 2. Please let me know how you all make out.
I'm running CM12 (Lollipop 5.0/AOSP). Is there a Quick Remote that works for this yet? I tried the extracted 4.4 pack from this thread:
http://forums.androidcentral.com/lg-g3/439476-can-someone-package-quick-remote-apk-me.html
But when I run it, it crashes. Known issue? Wait for the OTA before it will work? Any thoughts would be great!

Most likely won't ever work with an AOSP ROM. Those features, like porting the LG camera (heads above any AOSP/CM/other camera), are specific to stock ROM. I imagine an IR blaster would be along those same lines. Would be pleasantly surprised if an AOSP remote app would ever work with our LG G3.
It's not specific to CM12, it's specific to all non-stock ROMs. With the whole Bump! drama, and CM11/CM12 being pulled, I'm betting the ROM never gets updated again, let alone an IR blaster or BT working.

They did it on the g2. So try imagining harder. And cm12 got updated 11/25 fyi
Try one from the market. Wavespark makes a good IR app. On my m7 I had to DL an app to replace the HTC one. The one I downloaded was better than HTC. HTC one was quick and easy, but market one allowed way more customization.

Hey mate! I had looked for some remote apps and wasn't able to find anything but didn't think to search for "IR" remotes. I tried the WaveSpark offerings and sadly they crash on the G3/CM12 combo. I'll keep looking and see if I find one that's compatible and functional.
Stay tuned for results

Wow, look at that, I was wrong. What exactly was updated on CM12? An incremental update wasn't what I meant. As for the G2, I don't know anything about that, I've never had an LG. I was wrong apparently. I did research, and tried a bunch of apps when I was on CM, none of them worked and all the threads I read said it was similar to the Stock vs. AOSP camera issue. I was wrong, sorry for speaking out of turn.
Hopefully you find a working app.
