LG Quick Remote for 5.0 AOSP? - Sprint LG G3

I'm running CM12 (Lollipop 5.0/AOSP). Is there a Quick Remote that works for this yet? I tried the extracted 4.4 pack from this thread:
http://forums.androidcentral.com/lg-g3/439476-can-someone-package-quick-remote-apk-me.html
But when I run it, it crashes. Known issue? Wait for the OTA before it will work? Any thoughts would be great!

Most likely won't ever work with an AOSP ROM. Those features, like porting the LG camera (heads above any AOSP/CM/other camera), are specific to stock ROM. I imagine an IR blaster would be along those same lines. Would be pleasantly surprised if an AOSP remote app would ever work with our LG G3.
It's not specific to CM12, it's specific to all non-stock ROMs. With the whole Bump! drama, and CM11/CM12 being pulled, I'm betting the ROM never gets updated again, let alone an IR blaster or BT working.

They did it on the g2. So try imagining harder. And cm12 got updated 11/25 fyi

Try one from the market. Wavespark makes a good IR app. On my m7 I had to DL an app to replace the HTC one. The one I downloaded was better than HTC. HTC one was quick and easy, but market one allowed way more customization.

Hey mate! I had looked for some remote apps and wasn't able to find anything but didn't think to search for "IR" remotes. I tried the WaveSpark offerings and sadly they crash on the G3/CM12 combo. I'll keep looking and see if I find one that's compatible and functional.
Stay tuned for results

Wow, look at that, I was wrong. What exactly was updated on CM12? An incremental update wasn't what I meant. As for the G2, I don't know anything about that, I've never had an LG. I was wrong apparently. I did research, and tried a bunch of apps when I was on CM, none of them worked and all the threads I read said it was similar to the Stock vs. AOSP camera issue. I was wrong, sorry for speaking out of turn.

Hopefully you find a working app.

I know madmack had quickremote for cm 11 on the optimus g pro thread so it will happen (probably) we just need paitence and a good dev to step up.

I have the same problem I really hope that a nice developer can fix the problem

Some of the CM7 roms had limited success with the mic but CM9 isn't ready yet
And S-voice won't work in webos lol
cm9 has been out for like 5 months now.. i dont have any faith the mic or cam will ever work in cm9.

s-voice for ics only, even then it had to be modified as its exclusive for Samsung s3.
If it worked in gb even if it was not that good, surely it could be made to work in ics.
Though the installation of s-voice was without any problems.

Mic and camera are at the bottom of the pile of things to do, getting an OS that was never designed for the TouchPad is no easy thing, drivers and wrappers have to be written from scratch with no support from HP. So have faith in the developers, remember most of them are either at full time work or school/college and are offering you there work for free, maybe you could ask HP to fix the camera and mic I think they would abandon that idea faster than they abandoned the TouchPad itself.

Exactly what BIGSimon said. CM9 is still ALPHA. Meaning some things will not work. Not everything that is released is perfect right away. Developing ROMs isn't always an easy task. What they have done in 5 months is pretty damn great.
yeah i know that. but i seem to recall that it at least halfway worked with cm7. plus, in a short time android will have another os version, jellybean or something. and then what? will cm9 be abandoned and work start with that one? and once again, the camera and mic will be pushed back down to the bottom of the list in order to work on more essential things? seems like a endless cycle

There's a big difference between Android 2.3.7 gingerbread and Android 4.0.4 ice cream sandwich which meant everything had to be re-written to work Android 5 jelly bean is more of an evolution of ICS so drivers will carry over, all the work that's been done now will mean that when JB is released the touchpad will get it a lot faster with everything working

JellyBean will be a minor update, it will have a version 4.1, it isn't as huge step as going from 2.3 to 4.0.
Anyway, sound is surely being worked on (developers (partially, maybe) have gotten rid of bad screen-off sound issue last week), and we will see some progress in a time. If you want a tablet with all features working out-of-the-box, i guess, you should buy another device.
The latest audiolibs seems to be working great. Too bad S-Voice is having connection problems. Anyone know how to resolve the server issues in S-Voice?

What's taking so long to get a stock android ROM?

I mean this question in the most sincere way. I know there are some incredibly talented people out there working very hard on AOSP roms. I'm just legitimately curious and admittedly ignorant. What is so difficult about removing the HTC sense rom and replacing it with a pure stock android rom like what's found on the nexus? I know a rom like CM9 aims to add back in a lot more to the AOSP so I can imagine how difficult that must be to get everything working. If all that's being done though is just installing a pure Android rom on a phone already running Android (with a bunch of crap added in), what would make that a difficult task, that to the best of my knowledge, is still not done yet? At the risk of further showing my ignorance, what makes it different from the PC world where you could re format a PC and install a fresh windows OS on it, and get rid of all the OEM bloatware.
Thank you.
A lot of it must be rewritten from scratch because the drivers and what not are proprietary.
Please use the Q&A section to post questions in.
For starters, you dont get AOSP ROMS by removing HTC sense. You get AOSP ROMS by building from scratch from googles code.
Thats what takes so long. Getting googles code to work with our proprietary (read: no source for the devs) drivers.
The other part of it is the devs arent working on ICS(CM9). They've skipped that completely and are working on jellybean (CM10)
Deck has a build that is pretty friggin sweet.

How close to a daily driver would you say Deck's CM10 build is right now? Last I checked the only thing missing was the camera which helped out with some other bugs that had been happening. I could probably live without a camera if everything else seems to be in tip-top shape.

It's all on irc look in the cm9 thread and the camera's actually fixed now now its just video and Google now is gimmicky you need to do a fresh flash, its updated usually everyday

Initially he did exactly that. Then a one of the mods deleted half a dozen posts. Take a look at the mods post in the other thread.
Since the other poster moved on, it's probably best anyway. That way he can update the build dates.
ok, so my brother has a flakey 4g lte. I tried to refresh his phone to stock and he still seems to have some issues.
I would like to throw a custom build on there and I think this would be a great one. He has never been rooted, has taken all the latest OTAs, etc and is S-ON. So... what the best S-OFF to use for the latest firmware one? I am guessing rumrunner? Then from there, TWRP recovery I see is required, but it also says use the new partition layout. Is that the F2FS?
Also, does this rom come with the easy CM updater? Or are they all manual for now?
Thanks.

Is the bootloader unlocked? If not, that's what needs to be done prior to getting S-Off.
Rumrunner should work just fine.
You really need to read and follow the instructions in this thread

Captain Throwback has done some amazing work and has significantly extended the useful life of our devices. You'll need to use his TWRP too. Nothing else will work.
Hope this helps.

New build. Sorry it took a while, I was having trouble getting it to build and I just ended up downloading the sources fresh. I'm going to be RMAing my motherboard after Christmas because it currently works with only a single stick of RAM, so it will be a little bit for more builds. I'll be sure to put a new one out before I do though.

I'm curious if anyone is using this (or any) cm12 rom on an Activated htc evo 4g lte sprint phone. I ask because I have a couple of these phones that are not activated I give my kids to play with. My wife has this phone also and I'm thinning about installing this on her phone but wanted to know if I should expect any issues with data or GPS. We travel allot so a concern is the ability to quickly transition from 3g to 4g back to 3g. With a "stock based" rom it has no problem but I noticed with cm11 it had issues keeping data

Best Daily ROM?

I have been around for a while and I have had a G3 before but I just picked one up again and I am using it as my daily. Now, I have tried a few ROMs, such as JasmineROM and CM12.1 snapshot and I have been having some issues.
I really cannot STAND how stock LG software looks. It is atrocious to me. That being said, I really am trying to avoid a stock-based ROM if that is at all possible. Now, with CM12, I haven't had too many problems. The phone does get pretty sluggish sometimes (taking 1-2 seconds to open apps and such), the camera takes FOREVER to open, take a pic and switch between the front and rear camera. And possible the MOST annoying is when I have been on WiFi for a decent amount of time, my data will not work unless I go screw with my network settings and change it back and forth from Global to LTE.
My question for everyone: What is the best ROM you have used? Something with a high pixel density would be nice as stock just has everything so big and ugly. Battery life is nice and I really need decent camera and data performance. Any suggestions? Thanks everyone!
I've been using xdabbebs 2.0, and I know you said you didn't like stock ones. But it's been the best for me since it came out. Battery and performance have been amazing. Also xdabbebs xcam is the stock of camera but he's tweaked it and it's so much better. I've never had good luck on aosp roms for the g3. I hope this helps

I was going to say the same thing as @jurington. Although I'm on @xdabbeb 's completely stock (besides my own debloat) 46A Marshmallow, his VS985 v2.0 is overall the best in my opinion.

Glad you like it. I highly recommend some of the few "tweak" commands he mentions in the OP, too.
I always changed the navbar color in the stock settings. Settings / Display / Home touch buttons. I like dark, too.
6.0 is pretty nice, even more fluid than 5.1.1 in my opinion. There is some details it appears LG/Verizon didn't consider with the handling of USB OTG. Some have had the same trouble with the regular MicroSD access, but at least with X-plore File Manager that I use, the MicroSD hasn't been a problem. For USB OTG I have to navigate to root / mnt (I think) / then the serial number of the USB OTG device. I can and have marked it as a "Favorite" in the file manager so I can go right to it, but it's sloppy and doesn't report how much space is used or available when I access it this way.
It had been a while since I bothered with Greenify - I've largely been keeping things simple on the G3, but I use Greenify's aggressive doze feature and I do believe it makes a difference. No numbers to share, though. I've been playing with my phone a lot more since Marshmallow came out, doing back ups, experimenting, testing things etc so I can't really report numbers on battery life.

At least a couple of us had problems with the 3Minit Battery Mod that a user (sorry I forget your handle if you're reading this) made for 35B.
For me, it worked perfectly fine until restoring a TWRP backup that was made after it was installed, then FCs like you describe.
Dirty flashing the ROM etc would fix the ROM and it might've been possible to get the mod working again doing that and then re-flashing the mod, but it just wasn't worth it to me even though I have one animated battery icons on there, and I used to make the mod for a different phone.

Also xdabbebs xcam is the stock of camera but he's tweaked it and it's so much better. I've never had good luck on aosp roms for the g3. I hope this helps

XenonHD and Broken are great for custom. Nice features. Broken boots real fast. If you want tons of features you can use the unofficial DU build, and if you have wanted to try AOKP, they release official vs985 builds.
I am pretty content on the VS985 2.0 build but I am now having trouble getting vipermod working lol.

I used this one to get viper working on lollipop and marshmallow. Scroll down till you see 2 downloads, and use the one called lolliviper and flash it in recovery and should be good to go. Uninstall any previous vipers you may have installed.

AOSP rom for Surnia devices

Hi, I would ask if there is a very vanilla ROM (not CM), similar to stock, but without Google Apps

I'm pretty sure you could flash AOSP itself. It's stock, but theres no Google apps.

Hey @cmason37, thanks for posting this as I'm always searching for those elusive MM 'Stable' Roms I would like to try that rom, however, the above link has been disabled. If you could repost the link that would be excellent.
In the meantime I'll scrub the world wide web for this file, thanks

btw I wouldn't recommend it, I was trying it and it's preatty buggy and outdated. It doesn't have fm radio and it's using only bottom microphone for video recording (stock 6.0 uses both mics so there is stereo effect). It also doesn't support any new custom kernels because it wasn't updated for ages. The worst thing is that it slows down a lot after few days and you need to reboot. On stock 6.0 with squid kernel the performance drop wasn't that big, I was using it for 30 days without reboot and it was still pretty good.

I don't have any of those problems, except for msybe fm radio but I don't give a crap about that. But, I can flash squid kernel & I don't get performance drops often. So it's literally bug free for me. Maybe you should try flashing it again. After all, bad flashes happen.

My apologies you guys for not getting back earlier. I've been fumigating for bugs.
Those issues you were describing are the exact issues I'm dealing with today on my current ROM a popular CM based true to form option-heavy, stability-light ROM. This is a shame as its been fairly reliable platform for me. The occasional issue that was easily remedied with a reboot, a restore or a reflash. The past few months have been bug after bug for me. Mostly a pesky incompatibility issue with my ROM and OpenGapps.
Its seems all I've been doing lately is testing alternative gapp pkg sources, kernels and mods.
What makes this issue the real tops though is that the ROM I use was just listed as "Official" and "Stable" last month. There may be a weekly update waiting in the basket for me but the basket build server is down.
So....?
Not sure where to go from here. I'll tell you this much though. When I decided to try and root this device 8 months ago I had no idea it involved so much. I can almost write my own svripts, I'm understanding the bugreports I generate and read and i haven't spent this much time in a ToyBox since I was 9.
Lol. I'm not complaining though... I love to learn.
Oh and I still haven't tried the ROM you recommended as of yet. PC seems buggy now too.
