Hey guys,
My last sk17i screen started to unglue on the bottom, under the back button, so I decided to glue it back, the the glue got under the capasitive sensor and my back button stopped working.
I brought another screen but it didnt come with adhesive that glued the screen to the case, so I got one from eBay that is 1mm thick.
It unglued on the button again so I when and got 3 diferent kinds of adhesives.
The problem is that when it glues on the bottom it unglues on the top and the side of the case doesnt seem to touch the adhesive either...is there a special kind of glue or another edhesive that I can use to repair this for once and for all?
Thanks for reading

I just glued the far sides of the replacement screen to the phone and held it firmly together for half an hour. I user regular superglue I guess (here in the Netherlands it's called 'one-second glue'). Hope you'll fix your phone! Just don't let the glue reach the fragile interior of your phone.

Tnhx Hagen.
Did you use adhesive at all? Or did you just apply the glue to the metal frame? Im askibg this because the glue might not be thick enough to fill all the gaps.
Again tnhx man

There's been a lot of controversy on whether the laminated sheet glued to the xps really affects the phone to withstand drops well I found something out. It must work a little bit because before I took off mine, I tried to put pressure on the phone with my finger and it didn't go ask black, but now that I took it off, I can easily make out go " black" by putting pressure.
I guess it must take a lot of the stress out of the glass and therefore protecting it. I regret that I took it off now and recommend you keep it on
Though it did make the phone look new again, screen looks clearer and it isn't elevated in the bottom so it isn't annoying to slide the capacitive buttons, its not worth it and I barely noticed any difference with the capacitive buttons. You still have to press it slightly higher. And it is not as smooth and my thumb is irritated using swype
Not sure if all screen protectors make these symptoms happen, If it does, then this threads for nothing

Im leaving mine on, there is no way on the planet i can fit a 3rd party one that well and i know if i ever sell the phone i can peel it off and have a pristine screen.

engineers has put it for a reason and we are not more clever than all of them.
Ps: I am not offending anyone, that's my opinion.

I haven't seen that symptom, mine went black either way. I still would remove mine because I don't think its needed. I dropped mine without it on and it didn't break.
It's not on to stop it from breaking its on there to stop the glass from shattering everywhere if you do break it.

Use safety glass, it works! ;-)
But seriously, does anyone know why the XS has no gorilla glass?
Sent from the Delta Quadrant using a transwarp conduit.
i dont get it. i see no difference applying a second screen protector on top of the preinstalled screen protector.
the buttons still cost me to hit 1-2 times.

Have you ever seen gorillia glass shatter? When glass goes it goes no matter what brand it is and Gorilla is scratch resistant not shatter or scratch proof. Gorrila glass is no different, tiny shards that will cut you to little bits, it is only a hardened mineral glass with a brand name.
The sheet on the front of the Xperia S is what makes it safety glass, it is there to prevent shards of glass going everywhere
Thats true, my friend got a lovely big scratch on her iphone 4 right in the centre.
Gorilla glass is not scratch proof
The xperia neos glass was made by Nokia, I dropped it from a roof and all it did was make a scratch mark!

Thats just marketing trick
And look how it works
I stuck a Brando ultra clear on top of the pre installed one. Seems to attract a lot less dust now and it feels a bit smoother. It is fitted perfectly, no bubbles at all.

What? My phone didn't have the screen protector already on when I got it... it included one in the box, though.

Is anybody having problems with hairline cracks on the battery cover. I have noticed that there are several hairline cracks in my battery cover. White. It's really hard to see but there are several hairline cracks in the coating not all the way through the plastic. Not to concerned because I ordered a replacement a couple of weeks ago just to be on the safe side. Just thought I would ask if anyone has this problem. You have to look closely expecially around the camera hole. Easier to spot on the white.

Same here, but I'm not sure if it happened when I dropped it underneath the car seat.

There have been many complaints in Taiwan on mobile01.com from the battery cover cracking.... Its actually not the cover itself but the paint on the surface, happens on both white and blue.... u can only see in certain lighting and angles. It seems to happen if you flex the cover too much when u take it off... My way around this is to use a credit card to go around the edges to remove the cover instead of peeling it back
Yep same on my white one too

I'll dig the instructions out when I get the chance and look but just wondering if Samsung have covered their own arses by giving you some warning or guide for removing cover.
Yeah, I have a crack between the headphone hole and the loud speaker, and it is causing the top right corner not to clip into the body properly. I have ordered a replacement back cover.
Yeah i noticed this too, I was bending the battery cover and this cased hairline cracks on the gloss paint on the outside of the battery cover. the plastic itself is fine, since its the same as the s2 cover which could literally be folded in half and go back to normal. but then again the black s2 cover didn't have any paint.
so bottom line is: the plastic of the battery cover is very flexible, but the gloss paint isn't and that's what cracks!
My laminate on the back panel started to peel so I sent the cover back for replacement (have a naked S III for a few days). Also the grip to putt it off at the top cracked.

No cracks on my cover, had the phone for about a month. I guess I am probably more careful than you guys when I remove the cover because I have long nails (real ones ) and I don't want to break them (I learnt the hard way with with the S2 )

I also have a white s3 and have a crack on the cover that goes half way across the back. Did 2nd day with the phone. Not going to bother changing it, it dosnt affect anthing i hope:cyclops:
As the title states, I am going to replace the glass digitizer on my Rezound. I have ordered the 3M 2mm adhesive to use in order to stick the screen back on. I was wondering if I could maybe use epoxy? Or maybe silicon?
Any input would be greatly thanked and appreciated!
The 3m adhesive is not going to do a great job. You will quickly have problems with the screen lifting. The adhesive HTC uses it about literally 1000000x stronger. I tried many adhesive strips and tapes that where meant for digitizers, I had lift problems with every single one.
Epoxy is your best bet, I hope you can get on right the first time though. Its definitely a PITA. I ended up giving up after a while and sold it for parts, and just bought a new one.

Hello,
I don't know if this should be asked on XDA as this is more of a software website,
but I need to replace my cracked glass,
and I still can't find an inconclusive answer to which adhesive should I use:
Should I use double sided tape only, on the sides around the LCD? or should I use those clear LCD adhesives directly on the LCD (LOCA),
or maybe use double sided tape and after putting on the glass, use some liquid adhesive around the phone to seal?
If I use only double sided tape as shows in many videos, won't that my the phone more susceptible to water and humidity?
What is the glue that is used by the companies themselves, for example what is this glue on Samsung i9300?
Thanks all helpers, I already want to replace my glass :cyclops:
Not sure what glue they use in factory but they do use LOCA too. Most people don't bother

Is LOCA also intended to make it more water/humidity resistent or just to get a better grip of the glass and lcd?
Will a double sided tape be enough?(for example the 2mm by 3M) or it will really be bad and I need some special material too.
I also found this type of adhesive:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/10-X-Original-Black-adhesive-glue-tape-For-Galaxy-SIII-S3-i9300-touch-screen-/200904299824?pt=US_Cell_Phone_Replacement_Parts_Tools&hash=item2ec6d45530
will that be ok? I am confused about this sticker because I dont see that it is transparent in the middle where the LCD is!!! or am I missing somehting and you can see? (maybe the adhesive in this sticker is only at the frame?)
Ty again!
Personally I would want LOCA. I wouldn't want to do it myself though.
I imagine it helps prevent dirt and condensation aswell as provides more adhesive

I think the eBay adhesive you sited is just to seal the edges, and you take the middle out.
I have done 4 screens on GS3s. I haven't used LOCA on any of them, but I just ordered some com www.lcdglue.com. For $30, you should be able to do 5 screens. My current GS3 has a new screen with no LOCA, but you can see the two screens making contact when you press on the outer screen. I think using LOCA would be a much better idea.

Got it Thanks !
Btw, can I cure the LOCA with UV LED flashlight? for example this one?:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/UV-Ultra-Violet-Blacklight-9-LED-Flashlight-Torch-Light-/281129456146?pt=US_Flashlights&hash=item41749f1212
Or you need those special curing tubes? Btw, could this flashlight I posted be purple light but not ultra violet? I mean scientifically can it be purple but not UV thus it wont cure the LOCA?^^ sorry I have no idea
Hi all,
Got the zultra back glass replaced, but it seems it's not properly glued in.I can feel it when I gently push it.any suggestions on this, as Sony service centres won't officially work on z ultra anymore. Also, will this be a problem, as I have a put a back case, which is pretty tight and covers up most of the the sides.
Regards

If you are not planning to take it apart, take some very thin double sided tape, and add some around the corners. bigger area to stick with will result being more tight. But then taking it apart again can lead to breaking the glass.
The glue is very easy to soften.
Heat the back side evenly with a hair dryer for five minutes and then pry a plastic tool in the edge and work your way along the side.
It will lift up very easy. The back first covered in glass, then a plastic panel underneath..perhaps there is something between this aswell.
The glass will not crack by removing it from the phone.
You can replace the glass which includes the tape trim. Or replace only the glue trim. And/or spread a layer of contact cement on the edge of the panel..
When I mounted the panel I did notice it did not sit very tight and that's why I remove the panel again and applied contact cement on the edge to complement the tape trim.

that's interesting. I contacted Sony Mobile to ask about having mine serviced to get a new battery and they said to send it in. They wouldn't/couldn't tell me how much it would cost to do (which annoyed me); and I haven't sent it in as I am not willing to make an open-ended commitment when that sort of thing should be a fixed-price service.
I'm from India, and here they have stopped servicing z ultra. They will replace it with hand set if available, that too if under warranty.
