[Q] Samsung Galaxy Pocket S5300 brick. - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello.
I tried the MAK-DROID rom (thread) and it works great, but MAK-DROID didn't have the language pt-br (portuguese from Brazil). So I found the Aspire Rom (thread) and I give a try... and thats was a bad idea.
Now my fone even boot. It freezes on "GT-S5300 SAMSUNG" and vibrate a several times.
So, I boot on recovery and apply CWM again. On CWM I applied the MAK-DROID again, but didn't work.
After that I tried restore the my stock backup done with CWM. But even this didn't work. I received a message about EXTFS (or something like that) and impossibility of format the /system.
My final thought was try with Odin. So I follow the post #8 from MAK-DROID thread. I downlod the Odin and the S5300XXLF5 firmware. I open Odin and selected on PDA the *.tar.md5 file. But I received:
<ID:0/004> Added!!
<OSM> Enter CS for MD5..
<OSM> Check MD5.. Do not unplug the cable..
<OSM> Please wait..

<ID:0/004> NAND Write Start!!
<ID:0/004>
<ID:0/004> Complete(Write) operation failed.
<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 1)
So I tried again, this time with the pit file (S5300_coriemmc_0117.pit) on PIT option (when I select the pit file, automatically the option "Re-partition" is checked) and the *.tar.md5 file on PDA option. But I received:
<OSM> Enter CS for MD5..

I still have access to CWM (the update.zip is accessible from recovery).
I do not intend to seek the service of samsung because I'm pretty sure you can fix the problem.
Anyone can help me?

Yeah, I always do that. My workflow is "wipe data/cache -> install rom -> wipe data/cache (again) -> reboot".
But didn't work. If I applied the Aspire Rom I can reboot, but I'v got stock on a black "FACTORY MODE" screen. If I reboot and try applied the MAK-DROID or restore my stock rom I'v got stock on "GT-S5300 SAMSUNG" vibrate screen.

oh sir.have u try to reflash it with stock rom?

Yes, I tried restore my stock rom with the backup I've made with CWM. But when I do the restore the CWM says:
CMW-base Recovery v5.0.2.8
Checking MD5 sums...
Restoring system...
E: format_volume: make_extf4fs failed on /dev/block/mmcblk07
Error while formatting /system!
About compatible firmware, I used one that was supposedly compatible (see this thread) but when the installation was finished and the phone reboots, the fone freezes on a black screen where it is written "FACTORY MODE" and the fone suffers a lot of force closes...

Flash ur stock rom through odin first then try makdroid....dont try to backup ur firmware through cwm and restore its still under development it will gives u error like this...

How can I do that? I have 4 files:

Can you tell me the workflow?

Well, I cant imagine that to flash I must use the stock recovery. The stock recovery cannot "see" the external SD, only the internal memory. How can I put the rom on the internal memory if I cannot open the internal memory on pc?

Anyone can help me?
I already found a Samsung service in my city and I think they can restore the system, but I fear that I must pay somenthing....

I successfully unbrick my phone.
I could not flash with the one file * tar.md5 but with splitfus2 I could separate the file into 3 and with these 3 files I could flash with Odin.
Just one more question: I'm now always appear in roaming. I was using a Galaxy 5 (Cyanogenmod) and he was always roaming too.
Does anyone know if I will be charged with the price of roaming using 3G connections and inside my "normal" area.

I am in the same situation right now, I would kindly ask you to provide the files needed to go back to stock rom and a step by step guide on how to solve this problem I found after flashing MAK's rom.
Thank you!

Aspire ROM 0.1
Maybe you installed just the v2 version, you need to install the v0.1 and lastly the v2 rom.
Check if the rom size is 20-40 mb is just the v2,or if is 100-120mb is the 0.1

Maybe.. but i'm flash the stock rom when my phone is blank.. cant enter recovery or boot just blank..
Or, you can use format system in cwm then flash mak droid v2. Because that rom, you can flash any rom except blue jelly's rom.

[Q] Boot loop, please help

Hi Pros,
I am very new to this and just created by ID after my phone went into a boot loop.
I have been using a galaxy S3 (GT-I9300) that i bought from a friend for the last 3 months. It worked perfect and I loved it. However today while calling a friend the phone hanged. I tried to restart and nothing happened so i pulled the battery out and restarted it. Since then the phone has been continuously restarting. On researching i realized that there is a term for this - "boot loop".
I tried the Volume Up + Power + Home and went into recovery mode. I wiped the data and wiped the cache. It did not help.
I tried the Volume down + Power + Home and went into Download Mode - ODIN (this would mean my friend flashed it before he gave it to me). I downloaded a custom stock ROM and used ODIN 3.0 to update it. It successfully finished but the phone still keeps restarting. I can only get till the screen to select the language and then it restarts.
I am very confused now and need help to fix this.
If you can get to the language screen then it's not a boot loop.. I'm sure..
Can you boot into recovery using vol up + home + power.. What do you see then?
What stock firmware did you flash and where from? Is the right region?

Thanks for replying. I get the language screen but before I can select anything it just re-boots.
In recovery i see the following options
reboot system now
apply update from ADB
apply update from external storage
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
apply update from cache
How can I know if the region is right? I have it from a friend so I am not sure what region I am looking for. I download the stock ROM from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1646610.
What do you think might the problem be?
In that section do a factory reset then clear the cache then factory reset again..
Then install the Poland stock rom
Edit: You may have to change the country code after its been flashed

I did a factory reset -> clear cache -> factory reset from the recovery mode and installed the Poland stock ROM. It completed successfully as well. However the same problem persists. The phone starts, boots and shows the Samsung icon and then in about 15 seconds again restarts.
The following is the log from the ODIN.

I assume I am rooted if i can go into ODIN mode using Volume down + Home + Power. I got the phone from a friend who I cannot trace now. So I am at your mercy.
Root is a word i just heard today when I wanted to fix my phone.
Most probably not rooted considering tha your recovery doesn't contain the option to flash from sd card ...

Thanks Guys. I now understand that I am not rooted. I am downloading the CyanogenMod.
How do you think can this happen? Is some App causing the issue? I am try to understand that might be the cause of this. Can this be a hardware issue?
It could well have been an app that caused the problem in the first place but it's more likely the ROM.. Now since your not sure what ROM it was on its hard to Pont a finger at why..
When you format all apps and data are gone. Except the stuff in internal and external storage.. I.e Music and photos..
I don't think think that it is a hardware issue as it's most likely it would not boot to language menu.. Could be wrong though
Keep us informed on how it's going!
I personally don't like odin ... my advice is to roit your phone and then you'll have more options to fix issues

Yeh I agree it's easier without it but..
How can he do that when it's in a boot loop.. The issue at hand is he has no ROM installed..
I rooted my phone using sgs3 toolkit by Mike , you don't need a rom installed jyst boot in download mode and follow the instructions.

Guys,
Here is the latest update. I downloaded the stock ROM based on the model number and region and flashed my phone using ODIN.
The issue still persists, but in a very weird manner. The phone boots, then stays on for about 60 seconds. During this 60 seconds, you can call, text, surf and do whatever you want. Then the Phone re-starts. Then the phone is usable again for some time before re-starting.
Does this give you pros any idea on what might be wrong? Is this a boot-loop?
Latest Update:-
After a 4-5 restarts, the phone did not restart for the last one hour. I could text and even check my voice mails. The phone is the stock ROM and I have not installed any apps yet.
Then it all started again with a different frequency. Reboot and phone usable for 60 seconds-15 minutes and then restart!!!!
Now I am confused even more and want to get to the bottom of this issue.
1. Can this be a hardware issue?
2. Why did the issue start in the first place?
3. When I flashed ROM from a different region, can the phone detect that and restart it?
4. Is it because I am not rooted?
5. If I root the device, can i install ROM from different region?
Please pros, any guesstimate is appreciated.
Is not a boot loop mate. Endless reboots without start is .

What does Odin say when you try to flash the stock rom?
Format each and everything apart from sdcard in cwm and try.
Odin shouldn't fail unless you're doing something wrong..

from the looks of this, it seems more complicated.
because if odin flashed everything succesfullly. There can't be any problem.

[Q] Bootloop and can't flash via Odin

Hey guys,
I recently flashed null_24 custom rom and after rebooting the phone it got stuck at the Samsung Galaxy s3 logo.
When trying to enter CWM (Touch recovery) i get a black screen and it seems to freeze.
I was able to enter download mode and tried to flash stock rom via Odin.
I tried rebooting my PC and using different USB ports but it failed every time...
Then i tried to recover my phone via kies but it got stuck at 0%
Is there anything i can do or is my phone broken for good?
I could use any help!
Thanks in advance
You need to give more detail.
Do you have an internation or usa s3?
What error did you get with odin?
If you flashed a rom image for a different phone then your phone is probably bricked. Likewise if you get pit errors in odin. If thats the case then it needs a repair job.

You could try install a kernel only in odin. One with a recovery. Speedmod maybe? This may give you your recovery back and odin might let it Flash.
Worth a try

Okay thanks!
I'll try it when i get home
I've had the same issue a couple of times, all I did was keep trying to flash the stock firmware, and eventually it worked.
I have a better experience with some older firmwares than the newest ones.
Otherwise I'd try as other mentioned, flash a recovery and wipe data and all that, and then flash firmware.
Hope it sorts out for you!
This is so frustrating!
I tried flashing the kernel hundred times but i get the same errorlog as before...

Yes, I believe it was just that log.

[Q] Flashing Error

I am using a Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-I9100G. Recently flashed Ressurrection Remix and it worked perfectly on the rooted phone. Then, gyroscope calibration did not work so I decided to flash a stock rom ( ICS 4.0.3 DXL6 Malaysia ) . After the flashing, the phone is stuck at the Samsung Logo.
I went to Clockword Recovery, and when I pressed install from sd-card, it says 'error:can't mount sdcard) So, i can't install back Ressurrection Remix.
What do I do now!?
Factory reset then reboot

I cant enter recovery mod. The screen is stuck at a phone>yellow triangle>pc screen
What happened from first post. You said in cwm recovery fails to mount sd?

After the 'fail to mount sd' thing, i tried flashing stock ICS 4.0.3.(Malaysia) on the phone via ODIN 1.85.
Then the process failed and now it is stuck at the said screen. Recovery is unaccessable...
Keep trying to flash with Odin. Do what you did before to flash stock

~Notes~
1.The Ressurrection Remix rom was installed through the ClockWork Recovery process.
2.I already tried flashing the stock rom many times but it failed everytime...
3.Can you recommend any stock rom I should install or anything else to be downloaded for Odin 1.85?
No only stock firmware with Odin. Try different version of Odin. Make sure kies is shut down completely
---------- Post added at 12:32 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:27 AM ----------
Or Flash say philz tar kernel. That will give you cwm Bk that's 4.1.2 kernel. Flash siyah v4 for ics cwm

I don't see any external sd in the recovery.
Pressing internal sd says 'can't mount sd card' , . Same goes for everything else.

CWM-based Recovery v5.5.0.4
Update recovery needed. Flash siyah v6 through Odin and then go Bk to recovery. Then flash Rom.
I would go stock before going back to custom.

Hey Andrew. I wanted to say thanks for providing all those help you gave me.
I just re-flashed CWM, used an external sd with RR in it like you said, and installed it through Recovery.
Everything seems to be working now, and I'm in the signing-in stuff and first-time user wizard. Thanks again!
All these troubles for Gyroscope Calibration. RR doesn't have that, and I cant calibrate my screen. But... i can live with that.
You would @gastonw hehe firmware fan Haha glad you sorted it out mate. No problem with the help. This is what xda is about  also flash a different Rom. There are loads out there. I like pacman tbh or mr1 aokp. Some like stock firmware but I think they work for Sam lol

The outcome of this stupid journey of mine:
I can't acess my USB storage worth of 11gb... Can someone help? (I'm an official idiot.)

Odin, stuck on NAND Write Start

Hey Guys,
I'm sure all of you get lots of these questions, however I have been trying for a couple of days to get this S3 going so I can just asking for help.
My main issue is I cannot flash any ROM's via Odin.
Here is some background infomation:
I started with a stock Galaxy S3 GT-i9300 International 16GB model.
Flashed the correct version of Cyanogen Mod for my Model/Sub Model.
I install this rom by flashing CWM (Clock Work Recovery Mod) and installing the update.zip from my external SD card.
I have done this before with other Samsung devices, No big deal, just factory rest and wipe the davik cache and flash the new ROM.
Well I decided to backup the original ROM via CWM's backup option. The backup completed fine but I backed it up to the phones internal storage instead of my External SD card. The new ROM worked fine till it ran out of space. So I selected the Delete option back in CWM to remove the backup file, rebooted the phone only to find I was still using 8 or so GB of storage.
So my phone was not happy. No room to download updates or save new pictures, etc.
This week I decided to flash the stock ROM back over the phone. For some reason the firmware was incorrect for that model or something was wrong with the phone.
After looking around I decided to flash a .pit file for the Galaxy S3, One problem, I did not know that different storage sizes of S3's have different .PIT files. However it flash and I still could not restore my phones ROM.
So after a few days of looking around I downloaded the stock ROM from Sam-Mobile.com for my phone and country and download GT-I9300_mx_20120220 PIT for for what I read and understood was for a 16GB GT-I9300.
So the new PIT file flashes fine, however I still cannot flash any new ROMS. I have tired the stock rom from Sam-Mobile or trying to flash Recovery-cwmtouch-6.0.3.2-GTI9300.tar (clock work recovery mod).
None of these flash. Odin3.04 just sits on "NAND Write Start!!" and there is a blue "downloading" bar that is across the screen and that's it.
Nothing else happens. I have also attached a screen shot of this.
I have a water damaged 16GB GT-i9300T that I have used to create a .PIT file from Heimdall, But that sits there for about 10 Min before Odin says "Unable to get pit map"
I have also tried this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1916796
I get all the way to shorting out the resistor (R313) on the PCB but the phone does not turn on and fails to display "SD Card Mode"
So, can anyone help me?
I know it might be a long shot but at this point I'm willing to try anything. Any ideas would be much appreciated.
Cheers
Mitchell
Flashing just a pit file usually results in a hard brick.
You can try a rescue firmware:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=30087735&postcount=6&nocache=1&z=2665989794768393
But you probably need a new motherboard.
Thanks for that!, The recovery firmware failed to flash but the pit file flashed allowing me to install Cyanogen Mod.
Thanks for your help on this one :good:

For getting error when flash in Odin no matter what kind of error. Just need to flash out and repartition it for pit file and you get back yours phone back. The problem is the pit file must be suit to flash your phone. If not no matter how you flash it still the same.

The sboot.bin file is not flashing because the rom is either not for the phone or the phone bootloader is too new.
Are you a using the original USB cable?
