my wife finally took the latest OTA yesterday on her stock unrooted Evo LTE and keeps getting "Abnormal Reset - would you like to tell HTC?" errors. also she says that her text messaging is messing up. ppl not getting the texts she sends. any advice on how to fix these issues?
I get the abnormal resets, and finally just turned off the notifications for it in settings>about phone. I believe it's a known issue. As far as the texts go, is she using stock? I'm using Chomp and I'm not having this problem, but some of my friends do on occasion. It would happen with stock and 3rd party apps. Makes me think it's Sprint.

Same thing here happened 2 weeks ago on my moms evo 3d and my lte.

I think Sprint is having issues with their network in your area. I keep getting multiple texts (sometimes 10 or more) from friends who live in the Cape. They might be upgrading their towers for LTE which could cause the texting problems.

Anyone else having problems with their texts being not delivered to their photon? The last 2 days ive gotten tons of texts that were sent day(s) before.....this only happens when I reboot. I cannot figure out why....anyone else having this problem?

I've had this problem over the last few days. Not only do I receive the texts days after they were sent, but I've gotten duplicates, each with separate date/time stamps. I'm guessing it has to do with roaming in/out of data coverage, but not sure.
eric
Roaming in and out of coverage would make sense.
It happened to me once. I rebooted and got 27 messages

I've noticed it happening to a lot of my friends the past few days, not just on the photo. Sprint may have been experiencing a hiccup, yesterday was horrible but today seems to have cleared everything up.

I was having the same problem. Could receive but not send. I deleted Gosms and everything was working again.

Sprint network issue is normally the cause. Search your areas listings and i bet there was some outage or something they were working on.
I have seen this behavior across many phones and networks so it would be hard to me to think its down to the phone.
If you continue to see the same issues, see if they can reprovision your phone. I remember phones always acting up on me when id switch around to new phones. id also go ahead and make sure your phone is up to date with everything and then giver her a good ole restart. Honestly, a restart is one of the healthiest things for many electronics. just like takin a shower in the morning, it gives a new good fresh start.
Hi,
Ever since i switched from the Evo 3D to the Photon, i've been having an issue where a bulk of my texts don't show up till i reset the phone. It's sporadic when it happens. There doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason. I'll have a conversation and miss about 1/2 of their texts or all. Then i reset the phone and 20 texts appear. I used to think it was my air rave (had texting problems previously with it), but i shut it off days ago and the problem happened again yesterday.
I just did a quick update PRL and profile to see if that helps. I did not have this problem with the Evo 3D, only the Photon (happened 3 separate times so far in 2 weeks).
Has anyone else had this problem? Any possible solutions?
Thanks
Last ditch effort bump in hopes of a solution.
I've been having the same problems. I also just switched from the EVO 3D, had the MoPho for a couple weeks now

Try updating your profile and removing 3rd party text messaging apps. See if that fixes it.

Also having the same problem. Started about a week ago (have had the MoPho since release.)
eric
Its third party text apps that cause it

I just had this happen to me yesterday. Had to reboot the phone for the texts to appear.
I am not using any 3rd party messaging programs.
Sprint is having net work issues all over the US for the the lasr couple of weeks. There was a solar flare on 8/09/2011....the largest ever....this could have impacted Sprint's net work.....The Sprint forums has many many post in relation to this issue on all brands of phones!
My daughter had this problem at the beginning of the week with her Optimus. Sounds like it maybe a network thing?
Anyone having this problem again/still? All of a sudden I am not getting any text messages. I am on official stock, but I am rooted. No third party texting apps.
Its sprints network not your phones. If you check the official sprint forums you will see its happening on all phones. It was happening to me with my evo shift also.
OK. I switched to a wifi connection and then I started to get my text messages. I don't know if that is a real solution or coincidental, but it worked. My wife does not have any issues with her blackberry...
that's because blackberry is on a different system than sprint is even though its all thru sprint

I have three MMS messages (received last night and today) that show as "downloading" in the stock messaging app as well as GO SMS. Is anyone else having any issues and/ or is there a way to force the download? I can't say I've seen this on any of my previous devices.
Yep, same issue. I also today had to restart the phone because I was getting all of my text messages in Google Voice, but none were actually showing up on the phone. They all got delivered after restart.
My MMS is still "downloading" after a week.
Weird. Mine is working just fine. Doubt it's a widespread issue, or we'd hear more about it.
sent from my Evo LTE, usually.
I am located in North Jersey, and I have been having the same issue. Running HTC EVO. Sprint's network has been blowing chunks ever since it put iphones into the mixture. Data has been horrible!
thank god it's not just me.. I'm having the same issue as well (using Go SMS) Even in the stock app sometimes they won't download.
I'm also connected to an Airave so I know it's not a network issue (even turned off the Airave and the issue is still here).
Even sending MMS takes forever both on and off my Airave - never had that issue with my 3D (my wife has it now and it has been running flawless)
yeah, mine is the same way.
The only thing I can tie it to is running wifi and mobile at the same time. But if I'm on mobile only it won't download if I have another data intensive app running such as streaming music. Fed up with it though.

Ok well I turned off Wifi and rebooted and the MMS finally downloaded. This is an MMS from another sprint user too. WTF, Sprint is really sucking it lately. Yesterday I shut down and rebooted and finally I got the images that were not downloading.

I'm still having the same issue, I've tried turning off wifi then rebooting to no avail... Does anyone have fix that can be done in build prop for instance? I'd greatly appreciate any guidance.
Go into Messages, and click on the Settings icon. You will see an option to send and receive maximum size attachments, that may fix ur issue. I would also look into flashing xHausx's deodexed ROM, which includes the latest OTA and fixes, including a patch for WiFi and network connectivity. This stabilized my LTEVO. Good luck!

Non of my SMS are being delivered today. Anyone else having this issue?
EDIT: Having the same issue with whatsapp messenger as well.
99.5% chance its sprints towers. Update prl and profile, reboot, wait it out. Your surrounding towers are probably being worked on. It's one of Network vision "side effects"

Simple PRL and profile update will fix it 99% of the time
Any other ideas? I've done many PRL updates and profile updates, hard boot and soft boot and went from tower at my work to tower at my house about 45 minutes apart, and SMS still not going through.
My phone is working fine in terms of data and phone calls etc, just no SMS. Whatsapp seems to have fixed itself as well.
I've had really annoying texting issues. Probably been my biggest issue with this phone -- I guess it could be due to network vision upgrades, but it started happening right after I purchased my EVO 4G LTE. Mine hang sometimes, then other times it'll send the same message 10 times.
The only issue I've had to where it just won't send at all, even after a restart, is with my airave. I've had it happens a few times -- my texts will hang indefinitely (arrow animation never stops) until I unplug my airave.
I had issues with sms not sending today also. But I'm sure its b/c of them working on the towers LTE.because about 3 times since last Saturday I had LTE for like 5 minutes or so then gone.but sms working again now.

It's the network upgrade guys. Coincidence or not, it's the upgrade. Everyone has complained about this and it's always the same explanation.
Do you have to call your voicemail to get your texts?

Oh, okay. Color me convinced.
Funny you post this, mine are not working well this afternoon.
Just curious, are you guys using stock or custom rom?
Stock.
Anyways, I called up sprint and they were able to help me out. At first he said there was a cell site that was being worked the tech did the troubleshooting, asked me to reboot and I am able to send and receive test messages
Out of the blue I'm now unable to send text messages. :crying:
I can still receive them, just can't send them. Hopefully it's something on Sprint's end and it works itself out in a days time.
I found out I was unable to make calls as well. I restored a few previous Viper 4G nandroid backups to see if that would help, but no luck. I finally restored all the way to the stock rom w/ root and I was able to make calls again. A fresh wipe and install (not restore) of Viper 4G and I was back to not being able to make calls. Guess it's stock rom for me for awhile. Classes started today and I won't have as much time to play.
And stock pooped out too. Must've been a fluke earlier.
Things now work again. The fault is all on Sprint's end. Stupid Sprint...
I hope there's a silver lining and it means I'm getting LTE sooner than later!
Its network congestion most likely, in my experience sudden roaming or network dropping in and out in a well covered area means repair or upgrades which now that I think about it could affect text messages as well
I have a problem with texting. I try texting a coworker of mine and he can't receive my texts. I can get his fine but he can't receive mine. He's using a Samsung galaxy s3 on Verizon. He's the only one I have these problems with. What could be the problem?

It helps to name the ROM, sometimes there are known issues associated with the ROM in question. A good example would be CMX having an issue that doesn't let you download MMS but you can still send them
I'm using viper4g 1.0

Haven't tried viper yet, someone else might know if its a pre-existing issue. I use Google voice so in the even that I can't use my phone text messages can still be sent, also it backs up everything which is quite handy
Are you receiving a confirmation that your texts are being sent? I have noticed that when I am sending texts while at the office, where I have a very low cell signal, that sometimes my texts are not sent at all. I use Handcent SMS and sometimes after I "send" a message, the wheel will spin but the message will never officially go through (I have come across messages that I thought I sent the previous day). This usually occurs when I have a very low or no cell signal. Generally, when I "edit" the message and re-send it the text goes through. I am also running Viper4G.

I get the same msg when I text another friend but he gets my texts.
Where are you located? I'm in the SF bay area and it seems like sprint is always mucking about with the network here one way or another, be it wimax deployment or now probably LTE testing. My friend who is on a Samsung Epic4g also has the same problems as i do, but when he went to vegas and hawaii none of those issues popped up.
I'm on Viper4g 1.0 also and i've had the problems of outgoing texts not going at all or being delayed by a considerable amount of time. I had this behavior on charmeleon and the old Viper also so i don't think its an issue with the rom. It is either the phone itself or the network, and i'm more inclined to think its the network because the issues were not present when i went down to LA.
I'm in santa cruz county. The texts seem to go out fine since I don't get any error messages he just doesn't receive them.

It could be the device but not as a bug or hardware failure. In my area we had towers that were experiencing partial failure (cs rep's words not mine, I dont believe in partial anything. If it fails it fails) with the towers and they were under repair. When I visited my father which is the area directly affected he complained that his phone was defective and no one could hear him speaking. Sprint replaced the phone twice and same issue on those as well. His data worked albeit slowly and anytime I attempted to access data my lte would jump to roaming and not accept calls. A friend of his also in the same area had the exact same issue with his epic touch but he noticed that when he left the area it would work. it took 3 months for those 2 towers to come back completely. Naturally I assumed it was an upgrade (vision network and or lte) but sadly no
