I have a friend who wants to upgrade his SII phone from Stock GB to Stock ICS (India Version).
Am pretty familiar with some basic stuff of download mode and Odin and other tools.
Would really appreciate if someone can provide me the link for latest stock ICS in India and the steps.
Please correct me on the steps
1. Download the ROM and save it on the PC.
2. Open PC Odin and direct the downloaded file to PDA
3. Put the SII in Download mode and then connect it to the PC
4. Wait for the Yellow color on the first block and then hit Next.
5. N'joy ICS
Please let me know if am missing something.
I know of some eMMC bug on Note which i presently use. Do we have similar issue here too.
Please give me some info so i can help my friend.
Thanks in advance

well that procedure is correct.
but would suggest u to dwnld a latest 4.0.3 firmaware instead of 4.0.4 ones and see, since they do not have this emmc bug for sure
The emmc bug is present only in ICS 4.0.4. Anything lower than that version is safe.
Also, its better to perform a factory reset from the recovery after flashing the firmware to prevent the phone from bootlooping. Good luck

Hello all,
Please be patient with me. I have some experience with the Galaxy tab and various custom firmwares on it - but I have not flashed new firmware yet on my brand new S2.
Now, since the official EU ICS is out, I would like to flash my S2.
Several people have done it, but the instructions are somewhat cryptic.
Could please someone post step by step instructions about how to do this?
Including: what files to use, what modem to use and also how to get this rooted?
Thank you in advance for the kindness of someone who has done this!
What's ROM you want have on your phone, stock or custom?

Thank you. I have done these steps, and it looks good.
But some widgets look a bit off (for example the widget where i can switch wifi etc. on/off). Is that how it should be?
I have a problem with my S2 phone.
Last week the official ICS was available in Norway, and I wanted to check it out.
But when I download it, it stops installing at 11%.
I have downloaded and installed the firmware for my phone, but still didn't work.
Anyone have had any similar problems with the new update?

Hello arni3, maybe you chose the wrong firmware or did something wrong on the way.
Are you still able to enter download mode ?
If Yes, follow this tutorial on how to Unroot/unbrick your Galaxy S2 to ICS.
Link : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gixh_q6B_bU
If No, your phone is bricked. I suggest you bring it to Samsung.

Hello, thanks for your answer.
I have been watching that video now and it tells me to download ICS stock ROM. Is the stock ROM different from phone to phone or is it the same which one I get? I live in Norway, Europe.
Thanks!
1: if your phone says i9100 under battery, go get another rom i say la2/la4 and flash again using odin.
2: read again where to put the file.
3: if u got i9100G ur flashing wrong firmware. u need to fix that issue now.
all this if u can get download mode

Arni I live in Norway too and i think is that firmware that is maybe wrong ! How did u manage to unpack it anyway ? Tried 7zip and on my mac unzip, that archive has errors. odin refuses to accept it after md5 check. so something must be wrong there ...
downloaded it like 5 times. impossible to unpack with 7unzip in windows, only in mac it unzips but ..the rest is dead

There is no problem with downgrading. Everything you should to know you can find in sticked threads.
In short
1. Download Rom you like for Your region
2. Get necessary tools (Odin)
3. Read tutorials about flashing
4. Be sure you understand everything
5. Read one more time
6. Flash

Swyped from my Galaxy SII
Hay gingerbread & ics 4.0.3 r buggy & laggy & not so much battery life friendly. For this reason i don't like these two Os. But ics 4.0.4 is faster, smoother, stable & battery life friendly. So i use ics 4.0.4 European region. Cuz european rom is better then other region. if u wanna update ur firmware from gingerbread or ics 4.0.3 to ICS 4.0.4, at first u need 2 wipe ur phone factory data, catch partition & delvic catch. Don't wipe factory data/catch partition from stock recovery in ics 4.0.4. cuz its have brickbug. check if ur phone have brickbug or not by this apps "eMMC brickbug check" from Google play store. After wipe then update ur phone firmware by select PDA in odin. download latest(30/7/12) unbranded European ics 4.0.4 XWLPU stock firmware in this link:
http://db.tt/3nw1oSmr
plz make a nanroid backup & also backup ur all necessary document/phone numbers/mms/sms etc. after flash when phone restart & automatic install some apps. After that flash again brickbug free LPU safe kernel by select pda in odin. download brickbug free LPU kernel in this link:

Yeah you can until you can access ODIN/Download mode, just flash the ROM from there and it will be fine.
If you could root your phone I'll suggest you to try out neatrom as its very fast and smooth, I had GB but I never got experience like this ever before.

No no Sir I din't mean that ICS/Jelly Bean are not user friendly... They are very useful and user friendly but I comfort very much in Gingerbread. Last U used Galaxy R gingerbread os and now I used SGS2 Jelly Bean but I face some minor issue, 1) like phone does not lock power key or automatic option if enable, I mean to say that my phone does not lock, 2) One folder in SDcard name Ringtone & alomost 30 ringtone are their but when I play all of this or play one by one then its play but like name is another and play another ringtone and same thing happended when I go settings and selecting ringtone but this problem is only in this folder but oher folder are fine, name given another and play another and I don't like file manager cause its always enable file selected mode not like gingerbread, when U need then its show selected one not always but its not a big deal or prob but my main 2 problem is locking or display 1 name or play 1 file.
Thanks hope U can understand...

Just look what device you are having like i9100 or i9100g or i9100m and choose your desired device in option and download the lastest firmware of that device.
Flash it from Odin. Simple
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Can you give me the link with an easy step-by-step to flash my device with ODIN?
I am less than newbie with ODIN, flashing device or using CyanogenMod (someone told me about that too)
So my main concern is to root or flash my device and, damage my device.
So with all your honesty and sincerity, which one is more secure and easy to use, ODIN or CyanogenMod?
thanks a lot
BTW, I am downloading the last firmware for my device I9100
It is a zip file so I suppose to must have a ODIN to installed on my device but, before do that, I need your answer for my above concern.
Thread stickied near the top of Q&A has a guide to flashing with Odin.
Can't find it
Try but without luck
I already download 2 zip file, backup my personal data
But:
1. Can not find a easy user guide for ODIN
2. Can not find the last version of ODIN or, the version I must use
Any help
Thanks for my stupid question, I know for most of you, could be as easy as using internet, all this thing of flashing devices, rooting devices, Odin, etc.

I suggest you read it thoroughly first, ask any doubts u may have, then start flashing.
As for Odin, u can use any version mate. All versions are available here on XDA. Just search for it.
