Hi everyone,
I've installed the ROM CyanogenMod 10 with the latest nightlies. Two days ago the wifi connection was stopped suddenly. I also noticied several bugs and lags in the lastest nightlies so I decided to come back the nightly dated 09/21 but no changes...
Today I've done a backup from CWM and everythinh works fine except the wifi connection. The mobile is still trying to activate the wifi but nothing more...
So I'm looking for a new modem to be able to establish the wifi connection with my Internet box.
I've found the following modems on XDA but I don't know if there are compatibles with my configuration or if better modems exist...
Thank you in advance.

Modem has nothing to do with ur Wifi issue ma8, since its more realated to ur Netwrk and Data connection one's.
for ur wifi issue try changing ur kernel and see
ps- ensure that the kernel is meant for I9100G not for I9100 since they are not compatible with each other
Thanks for your answer! Appreciated.
Please could you help me to find the better kernel for my I9100G?
FYI I now have the nightly dated 09/26.
Thanks again.

Thanks a lot.

Thanks for your quick answers.
Yes I won't forget wipe data/cache I will flash CM9 thanks to recovery mode (CWM).
However I'd like to come back to CM9 because I have a matter of my WIFI connection and a "VIP member" of a french forum told me that for having a CLEAN phone, I should respect all these steps:
- Install the "full rom" KI3 (I don't if it's the right translation...). This ROM will completely reset my phone.
- Then install the rom KK5 to add new functions
- Flash CF-root LPG to obtain the admin authorizations and ICS 100% clean
- And finally I will able to flash CM9...
Is it really necessary to respect these steps???
Your 2 points of view are so different..
Thanks again!

My problem is still here... I now have ICS 4.0.4, version I9100GXXLPV and IMM76D.XXLPY, kernel 3.0.8 [email protected]#2.
I did a factory reset and cache partition. Why do I still have some personal pictures in the memory?
Should I use this code : *2767*2878# = E2P Custom Reset. It could solve my problem of wifi...
Otherwise what could I do now?
Here are attached several screenshots from my phone (ICS and CM10).

However I still have an error message: (english translation from french) "the process com.android.phone has been stopped".
The network is available during 10 seconds then I have the below error message and the network icon (graph with 4 bars) is the sign "Forbidden".
I click on the error message "OK", the network starts again until the next error message...

Good that we know such an important information. Try again with a proper baseband ⇩⇩⇩
Try to add APN.

RoM n baseband
Well, flash a full stock ROM via KDZ and move on. When you have done some reading (which clearly hurts your brain), come back with some non-PEBKAC issues. While you have mismatch between your baseband and ROM, you have no GSM and data. It is written in the howto, but then again, too long and boring to read, huh?
Bye.
Hello ppl. I have flashed to new baseband w/ Cyanogenmod 9(lurpohip) and franco's newest kernel. I can call and send text messages, but data doesn't seem to work. Would appreciate help. I've gone through both how-to's pt. baseband LGMDP.exe. Also did a full data wipe before installing the rom.
I noticed some NVRESTORE NV_FAIL_S errors when I changed to new baseband in LGMDP.exe though.. Any ideas? Tried to change 3 times, same errors occur.
Thanks in advance. Sorry for being a noob, but I have been searching for 2 days.
Unfortunately, CM team has removed some frequency from sources and now, with some carrier (eg. Vodafone or 3 IT), data connection doesn't work. I have the same problem. The solutions are:
1. Not use a CM rom
2. Use old baseband with patch for CM.
3. Wait for a fix

Since I installed Cyanogen ROM 7.1, my 5500 can't find any wireless network.None of them are listed on my phone!?(like there's no wireless signal around). Tried with different fixes, different ROM-s.. When I was on stock ROM everything was OK.When I go to settings-turn on wireless it says 'Activity Wi-Fi settings (in application settings) is not responding'. and have force close and wait choice. Also in advanced settings says MAC and IP address Unavailable. Any suggestion? Thanks!
What Baseband are you using?
Go to Settings > About Phone and go to the 'Baseband Version' section.
Try finding your baseband on this website, and see if it is recommended for Cyanogenmod:
http://www.madteam.co/forum/development/basebands/
If it is not there or is considered BAD, then download an OK one from your region. (Being from Europe, I am using the I5500NEJP2, which just so happens to be from my own Irish network provider)
I've just changed it from I5500LUYJPE to I5500NEJP2 and still nothing!
Still can't see any wireless signal around..
Try reflashing, or going back to stock just to see if the wifi still actually works

All I can tell you is to reinstall Cyanogenmod and the hotfix again. But be sure to do a data wipe first, and clear your dalvik cache by going into 'Advanced'. Then install the rom.

I've installed Jelly Bean custom ROM for Samsung Galaxy S3; then when I tried to connect to the wifi, my phone shows that the signal is very strong. Which modem did you switch too? Worth a try.
Its because of WIFI encryption, remove the password and try.
It's a bug in the leaked builds, they're BETA so you can't blame anyone but yourself.
it seems some people also had success after changing from wpa2 key to wpa key on there router.
I've the same problem.
I used to use Resurrection Remix JB 3.0.6.1 and everything worked fine. Then I flashed another CriskeloRom v13 (both are JB), and WIFI worked fine as well.
The problem was: when I flashed back to RR Rom, I couldn't connect any of the WIFI access points (actually, I tried 2) though the signal is very strong. I tried different settings and I also reset the APs and it didn't work at all. I also tried different modems and it didn't work either. Then I tried to re-flash both ROMs and found something may help:
1. flash RR: pass (before this the ROM was an unknown 4.0.3 version came together with the new phone)
2. flash CrisKelo: pass
3. flash RR: fail
4. flash RR with different modems: fail
5. flash RR ICS: fail
6. flash RR: fail
7. flash CrisKelo: pass
8. flash RR: fail
Anyone can give me some hint? What I need is the RR JB ROM with WIFI connections!
Sorry I can't paste external links because of the privilege, and both ROMs can be found at galaxys3.roms-db.com.
Best regards,
Same problem here. Running CheckROM v5.5. Have tried 2 different kernels (Perseus and Siyah). Hopefully the XXDLIH release will fix it....
i tried wanam XXEMD3 and stock deoxded XXEMD3 with Googy-Max 1.4.6 kernel
i don't think its problem of kernel because i used it on XXEMD2 which is all fine.
today i flashed wanam XXEMD3 and when i running setup and connecting WIFI it keeps reports "Authentication error" or something , i think that's translation.
i thought it could be problem of ROM , and then tried stock deoxded XXEMD3, same , i figure maybe WIFI password i typed wrong ? although it's highly unlikely
and then i restored back to XXEMD2 with recovery , WI-FI works all fine ...
any idea ?
You should look for a wifi fix for your kernel or your ROM. This should to it. If there isn't any you should go to support of kernel or ROM. They should be able to fix this if no wifi Dix patch exists

Make sure you are getting a clean flash... wipe data, cache, dalvik cache.. and then go to mounts( in cwm ) or advanced( TWRP ) and wipe system ( format it in cwm )
Also make sure you have a good download.. that can cause many different issues... from boot loops to force closes.

Do you have a good download or a better rom or even a good md5 to flash to go back to stock?
I am having a lot of problems with this tablet, sometimes it crashes, it bootloops, sometimes it just freezes and sometimes I need to force restart it so much times till it boots properly because it freezes while booting a lot.
also whenever I connect it to the PC it seems to have problems.
It used to be my sister's so I fear she broke it
Thanks for the reply
@arboy2
You can find the stock rom at sammobile.com
Also.. make sure you have an ICS bootloader... almost all the custom roms require that bootloader. You can find it at pershoot's site and flash it with Odin.
As far as good download's with md5's go.. this forum doesn't seem to use them as much as most forum's. So what I do is download a rom twice and check the md5's against each other.. that's not the best way, as you could have 2 bad download's, but it's something.. lol
If you can't find the stock 4.0.4 ICS rom at sammobile... I think I have it.. somewhere I also have the ICS bootloader..
But if you're new to flashing and Odin... I highly recommend doing some reading and watch QBKings' video's..
I would also recommend(once you know that you have the ICS bootloader)that you use the infamous TWRP recovery.. it is the best recovery for this device ( I believe )..
