I'm not sure if anyone will know this. I have a samsung galaxy SII that is still on contract with Sprint. I want to sale the phone but can't because my ex won't cancel the contract. If I root the phone would I then be able to switch it into someone elses number? If not, does anyone know how I can (Sprint will not help me at all)

Hi all,
I wanted to get a Android phone (Fascinate most likely) for my dad and he's on Verizon. He doesn't want the data plan though.
VZW says that even if I buy one from eBay or Craigslist, when I call to add the phone to the account, they will require a data plan.
Is there any way around this?
Just wondering because I was surprised by this rule. I'm on T-Mobile and haven't dealt with VZW much.
Thanks all.

Hey everyone, I was looking to buy the Galaxy S2 from T-mobile, but I'm retarded and I don't know if Family Mobile, a Wal-mart Carrier powered by T-mobile, would work on the Galaxy S2 from T-mobile.
It might seem like a common sense question, and I think it really is. It's just that I don't know anything about phones, and I was told the smartest people on the internet for Android phones/programming post here.
Better ask the seller..

Sorry but I don't believe anyone here on xda can help you with that. Call Sprint and ask them.
That usually means either you didn't pay your bill or there's been some mistake. A quick phone call should fix that.
Also, if it's a billing issue, you can tell them a date when you'll pay and they re-activate until that date. Although, your mileage may vary on that.
My buddy is willing to sell me his sg2 and I want it, BUT i need to know before I get it if I can even unlock it for use on ATT? Anyone else done this at all?

Not possible. Sprint is a CDMA network. ATT is a GSM network.
That's what i thought. All good. Thank you.

Hi guys I know this questioned has been asked before, but I can't seem to get all the answers I need. I plan on picking up a used S3 off of craigslist, and I need to know the requirements to get on Tmobiles $30 a month plan. I hear that you need a specific version of the S3 to get on Tmobile, I was told a sprint version would work? Also I read that you should be careful because the phone could have a bad ESN or something. As for the tmobile sim card, should I get it one of tmobiles prepaid phones or tmobiles site, i'm guessing the latter. (Micro sim right?)
You can also add me on skype. zSorun
Thanks guys
EDIT :Forgot to ask how you unlock the phone for tmobile
You would need the tmobile version of the s3. Or the international version. But im sure you couod get them unlocked either way.
But you need to find out if you can get it unlocked first or you may find you cant use the phone.

Ask in the sprint forum may give a different answer .

The US variants all work on different frequencies what you need to do is check what signal frequencies T-Mobile use, then check what the phone supports, the US variants are rarely compatible with the other networks though.
