Because I am an S-On with Hboot 1.15 unlocked, will I have to flash MeanRom 3.4 or earlier to successfully flash the rom? Sorry if this has been discussed, but I looked through and couldnt find this or an answer. I am new to the EVO LTE, as I am coming off the 3VO and only two days into ownership of my LTEvo.
Thanks

the latest rom is fine, just be sure to let it finish completely, it will hang on flash when installing kernel and then boot and it may hang again but wait for it to reboot on its own, this is when kernel is installed, then it will hang once more, just let it do its thing

And if you want to OC to 1.7 (why wouldn't you) you have to either use flash image gui or fastboot to flash the custom kernel, it will be located on your internal sd in the "Mean rom " folder. If you need any more help shoot me a pm
Thanks for help, I'm always a little skeptical to flash and this being my first on a brand new phone made me nervous. So thanks again, I did flash 4.5 and running smooth as ever (OC 1.7 of course).

With S-ON, no you can't.
But is this a way to root your evo3d? Or am i mistaken?
no this is pre-rooted rom. If you had a custom Recovery you could flash it. There is no way for the most of us yet, wait a little bit revolutionary Team is working on it already.

Hi,
Would you be able to do the same for RUU_Shooter_U_hTC_Asia_WWE_1.22.707.2_Radio_10.55.9020.00_10.13.9020.29_M_release_207422_signed.
I have flashed the Europe ROM by Virtuous Shooter and have Wifi Error. Need to revert back to Asia ROM deperately to get back the original ROM.
I cannot use the original Asia RUU to revert back as halfway thru it will give me error on device. I suspect this is due to using HTCdev bootloader unlock method
Got a question, if I got a euro EVO 3d then if i root and flash a different radio will it pick up different signals to better support it here in the USA or am I just stuck on edge??. If not is there any software adjustments that can be made to make it pick up at least 3g??

Same here,have this recovery installed:

I recently rooted my EVO 3D running hboot 1.4.00 s-off and I am planning on flashing an ICS rom. Do I need to update the kernel to an ICS kernel before flashing an ICS ROM?
Well the ICS Roms already have ICS kernels built into them so you should be good to go unless you want a custom kernel.

Since you are on Hboot 1.4, the kernel will flash when you flash the ROM. You do not need to flash the kernel separately unless you choose a custom one (I'm digging dodova's stock kernel right now- great performance and battery life and very stable).

Wanted to clarify this post. Having Hboot 1.4 doesn't allow you to flash kernals through recovery, being S-OFF does. If you were on 1.4 and had S-On, you wouldn't be able to flash kernals through recovery with a ROM.
Also, these should really be posted in the Q/A sub forum. Just a note for next time OP.
Thanks

I know what I meant! Chalk that one up to newborn, lack of sleep baby brain.
Ok I'm all set now, I got everything flashed, but now I sill have question.
I started with the ENG H boot then I wen to the safer hacked one.
I'm looking for ROMS now and they have a PH98IMG file. Is that the kernel or updated firmware? I wouldn't want to flash different firmware right?
also what about the old firmware patch for ICS roms?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1614180
Do I need to be using that as Im still on the GM H boot?
and finally what about mainver errors? since Im s off will that still warn me?
I just want to be careful not to do anything I shouldn't now that most of the safety nets are gone.
Also sorry of my questions are silly, its late at work and I've been starting at this screen all day. Its time to go.
thanks

ROMs generally will never have firmware present unless it specifically states otherwise (perhaps somebody will release one after an OTA if there's a new firmware update). Prior to last week, we all had S-ON (well most of us) so all ROMs came with a script that would dump the boot.img (kernel and RAMdisk) into a PH98IMG.zip, then reboot to bootloader so you can flash it.
Use the old firmware patch for ICS ROMs only if you are on HBOOT 2.11 or lower.
I'm not sure about mainver issues... I don't think they matter now... but if you do get that error there's a simple fix thats been around for awhile.
I am on 2.11 so I would need the patch. Is it ok to use even it I'm not on am ics Rom, should I flash it just in case or wait until I need it.
Yeah I was kinda thinking the same thing about the mainver. Not sure either though

The patch is apart of the system so you only flash it when you are going to run a ics Rom based on the ics firmware. You already have the patch files in the Rom you are running if its GB. But when you flash a new Rom the system is wiped which is why you need to flash the patch. I hope I explained that ok.

I understand, its ok. You right though dont know what I was thinking, of course the system gets wiped.
Im debating which ROM to run now. I was going to go with one of the BAMFs, but I also would mind a senseless ROM either.
Is it wrong that I actually kinda like Sense, I just wish it didnt bog the phone at times.
Also I thinking its probably best to say on the 2.11 firmware, that way I can still run GB if I want and go to ICS ROMS too if I want with the patch.
I like sense too especially since this is my first HTC phone so its something different for me. I had Motorola's in the past. I'm on GB firmware with the eng hboot and running ics Clean Rom.

Well Sense is certainly an upgrade for me from TouchWiz....I miss a few things but overall it is better...
I think you would be happy with CleanROM, extremely fast and reliable ICS build. You would never know it wasn't stock.

Hey so I know that there was already a forum about battery life on the Rezound, but it was a bit outdated when it came to sense 4 roms. (S-OFF)
Here is so far my best combination to get the best battery!
Flash the newest leak here
http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/0...-0-3-for-the-htc-rezound-includes-new-radios/
twice by placing it in the root of your SD card and entering fastboot. Make sure to flash this twice!
Then I did a factory reset just to be safe. Flash the correct recovery you want then install the AWESOME team PkMN Rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1630696
MAKE SURE TO KEEP THE KERNEL from the rom! It runs smooth and super cool
So far im at 73% with 6 hours, which may not seem like much; but it was way much more than what I was getting before

What did you do about the rom installing its kernel when you flashed it? You removed it?
That ROM doesn't create the phxxx file to flash so there is nothing to erase.
So in otherwords u would flash the Rom then the flash the latest update, bc if u r soff pkmn Rom installs old kernal.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda premium
Since we are now S-OFF we no longer need the PBxxx.img file to reboot into bootloader to install the kernel.
the kernel gets installed with the ROM.
you also don't need to worry about kernels when doing a nandroid back-up from say, ICS to a GB ROM, any more.
so to the OP, you are running the older kernel, unless you installed the new leak kernel afterwards, which I would like to know if you did, because I tried running the newest leak boot.img(kernel) on the PkMn ROM and it wouldn't boot.
i believe that in scott's thread to the stock rooted version of the latest update he has the PH98IMG that is the kernel. You could just install PKMN and then install that throught the HBoot

Yes like Andy said, if you're s off the kernel is flashed from recovery when you flash the rom. That's what I was asking if you removed but that answered my question. I was thinking there was a ramdisk difference in the sense 4 kernel and the stock sense 3.6 kernel. I know you said you flashed the RUU like you would for s on, but since theres an "(S-OFF)" in your post I was thinking you were s off and flashed the pokemon kernel with the rom, which would just mean that you're loving the same kernel everybody else is running who hasn't run the lasted leak hboot update.
It's scary that people just flash away without knowing what their doing...

I would think it wouldnt boot for anybody. The pokemon rom is sense 4, so you need a sense 4 kernel. The latest leak is a sense 3.6 kernel. In theory it shouldnt work at all.
If you do exactly what the OP says, step by step, the pokemon rom overwrites the latest leak rom and its kernel in its entirety. so he is just running pokemon rom.

I agree, but it's a lot less harmful is you're s-off. The only thing that can really hurt you are radios and bootloader. S-on is a different story.

S-on is almost completely safe ... that's why htc did the dev unlock!
With s-off there are way more ways to brick your phone it doesn't do any checking to see if things are signed or work or anything... that is not safer than s-on.
If you don't know what your doing htc dev unlock is a perfectly fine option.
If your not running the newest kernel then the radios must be what are really making the difference

First and foremost, I sincerely apologize if there is some information out there that I have missed or failed to read. I am a noob to this forum as far as posting goes but I've been reading posts here for some time and thus far I have been unable to find a solution to my problem.
This is the third time that I'm flashing my EVO 3D, however it is the first time I've actually used S-OFF. This particular iteration of my phone was completely vanilla ICS on hboot 1.58. I followed the dummy-proof guide stickied to this forum all the way through getting S-OFF through the "wire trick" method. At this point I wound up with a "jbear" version of hboot 1.58. Sweet deal.
Problem is I decided I wanted to try CM v10.1 so I had to change hboot to something below 1.57... No biggie. Except for I messed with the thing for hours and had absolutely no luck getting it to boot. The only thing that worked was returning to the jbear 1.58 hboot and restoring an earlier backup from 4EXT with the stock ROM.
Long story short after multiple flashes, going from jbear 1.58 to jbear 1.50 and back several times I finally got the phone running on CM v10.1 "Wild for the Night" with hboot ENG 1.04.
So... my question is as follows. Have I hosed something up in my tinkering by going back and forth between hboots multiple times? I'm concerned that doing the v1.58 "wire trick" S-OFF and then jumping from one hboot to the other only to wind up with ENG 1.04 might cause issues in the future.
I apologize for any incoherence on the above. It is now 6am and I've been at this for hours...

no, switching your hboots won't cause any issues with your phone. I will tell you however, always make sure you're on a compatible hboot for any ROM you flash
You can change hboots 10 times a day until you change your phone, nothing will break because of that. The problem is that some hboots are incompatible with some roms and some android versions. For most Jelly Bean you need the x hboot, while for Ice Scream Sandwitch you need the y hboot. You get the point l. Nothing breaks as long as you properly change hboots and don't get errors in the process of doing so.
Relax and flash away whatever you want
When flashing a new HBOOT you need to boot into recovery and wipe your cache partition then reboot again to recovery using the reboot to recovery option within recovery. Then flash ROM and GAPPS. Also make sure to be using the VERY latest 4ext recovery. The test version

I saw these suggestions on your development thread and followed them. This is how I finally got it to work with the ENG 1.04 and so far the ROM is working great.
Not to take my own thread off topic but is there a list of supported kernels for this ROM? I'm interested in under clocking, etc. and not sure if that's possible on stock.
