Hello there,
As my Prime doesnt receive OTAs I waited for the official Asus zip. I restored my original build.prop, deleted the modified one and did a factory reset (I didnt remember the wipe option). Then I just updated to JB, but when it reboots to start JB for the first time, it gets stuck on the new Asus screen. I cant get past it and I cant even shutdown the tablet, it powers on by its own.
My tablet wasnt unlocked (I cant unlock too) and I cant even go into recovery. I tried with the reset pin to no avail; I tried the following:
Pushing Power + Vol Down: It restarts, vibrates and gets stuck on the same screen
Pushing Power + Vol Up: It restart, vibrates and screen off
Pushing reset pin + any of the previous: same effects.
Now I am starting to fear I have in my hands a 600$ paperweight (imported from USA, dock included). Anything I can try to make it boot?
Thank you all!
Can you try this. Hold just volume down and keep holding it. Then push reset hole. Keep holding the volume down for another 3-4 seconds. Tell me what you see after.

Same thing happened to me today. Update to JB, played around with it, ran the unlock tool, and it never booted again. :/
I sent a message to Gary Keys in hopes that we can find a fix.
Would you be up for doing the same, anything to try and get a response!
It sucks to have a $500 paperweight that I didn't even get to play around with. :/
i'm interested to resolve same issue.
thanks

I'm the same boat except I never made it past the ASUS logo. Not unlocked, not rooted. I'm also one of the victims of the no serial number problem (no OTAs). I wonder if it's related.
Same problem here. Trying to open an RMA as I have never been able to unlock either.
Same issue here for me http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1918102

The Unlock Tool on Asus' Site, v6 dated Feb 22, 2012, states three times in the description that it's only for Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS). I haven't heard that it works for JB. This might be the cause of the brick.

Well, se ser a lot. Also Serial not found problem, tried to unlock many times but couldnt un the day. I will try to get an RMA but I think they will make me pay. If not, time for a Nexus 7 (ASUS again, dammit!)?

I didn't realize this. :/ Sucks to be me I guess. You would figure they would update the tool if required when releasing new OTAs. :/
Any way to reload the boot loader without having created the NVFlash files?

Same problem (stuck in ASUS Logo), not rooted or unlocked. I did have the serial number issue that I never care about because it just meant I had to manually update. But It seems that this serial issue is what have caused this brick for some of us.
There are a lot of primes bricked by the update to Jelly Bean. And it appears to be a hard brick. I am waiting for them to respond my support request. Probably an RMA is the only solution.

Hey guys,
I am currently having an issue where my S1 gets stuck on the boot up screen. It seems to freeze on the "Sony" text before it gets to the boot animation and just stays there until I long press the power button to turn off. I tried the reset function first to no avail. Then I let the battery completely drain and recharge before I turned it back on and it still gets stuck in the same place. I have not rooted or done anything to it but download a few apps and a launcher. Two things I would like to avoid is doing a factory reset but more importantly avoid dealing with Sony and their warranty. Any help you all could provide would be appreciated!
Unfortunately you have only this two choices ...
Factory reset or Sony (dealer) warranty ...

I was having wifi issues after rooting and did a factory reset solving my problem. If you don’t have that many apps on your tab I'm pretty sure it will fix your problem. Since you haven't rooted your devise then you should be fine calling Sony tech support if the factory reset doesn’t fix the boot loop.
Thanks for your responses. I spent a lot of time setting up my home pages as hubs so this sucks!
Next question, does anyone know how to perform factory reset without booting up the device? I performed one when I first received it but went through the Settings. Since I cant get past the boot screen, I obviously cant do it that way.
factory data reset
with the tablet off you need to press and hold the volume + button and then press and hold the power button. keep holding both buttons and when you see the sony logo release the power button only. once you get the android system recovery mode you release the volume button and use the volume + and - to navigate the menu and quickly press the power button to make a selection. before you do the reset try this: access the recovery mode and select restart and cancel, your tablet might boot normally.

If you are unable to enter stock recovery I would think you will probably have to contact Sony. Even if you have adb I don’t think you would be able to do anything because your devise is not rooted. Someone correct if I am wrong.
I believe you are right.
I was unable to get the tablet into recovery using the method stated above. I get to the Sony screen (as always) but when I release the volume button the tablet turns off. Now I have to deal with Sony. Crap! What are the chances they replace it under warranty when I bought it off ebay?

My Solution
I just had this problem, what I did was..
when on the Sony logo I took out my SD card>unplugged power>did a hard reboot>waited about 30sec>then powered the tablet on and it booted normally.
I hope this was somewhat helpful
My Tablet have the same issues. It goes to Sony Service Center. I think is a shame for Sony, because the tablet is 8 months old. That is not quality.

Well I have it here in Florida, USA so I'm happy for that. I'm just nervous to go ahead and update. I dont want to lose my root and preformace tweaks, so I'm on the fence about it at the moment.
screwed up my update
My update failed! in US. It started updating then there was a dead android with a red exclamation on it. I forced rebooted and I am now back to 4.0.3. Now I cant even get the update when I check for update. It says no update available. I already factory reset it still no update showing.
The update lost root & Voodoo Rootkeeper restored root.

Hi!
I updated my prime to JB a couple days ago and succfesfully restored root, yesterday I played around with it and changed the governor and the clock speed to 1.4 Ghz using No-frills, Now it is constantly rebootning after about 10-15 seconds within startup. In the past No-frills have been excellent detecting unclean shutdowns, however not this time...
Is it possible to fix this?
have you tried reformatting the prime? I know it's the last thing you'd want to do but it might be the only option.

I think that will solve the problem. But how do I do it if it's rebooting after 15 sec?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
You can wipe your prime by powering off, and holding volume down while powering back up. Then you select the wipe option and you are off! No OS loading required.
You will lose root in some fashion, though. May be possible to get it back, as I had to wipe and successfully restored.

Same thing here, was working fine for a few days now it's rebooting every 15 sec or so.. I did have to manually install JB after the update failed. Wonder if that has anything to do with it??
Every time it reboots it says android is updating. Odd

I'm having the same problem here, although the update seemed to go fine for me and it has been working great for the last few days. I have not unlocked either, pretty much stock TP (just a lurker here on XDA). Before I wipe, is there any way to recover some of the data I have on it? It doesn't stay booted up long enough to get anything off of it. I emailed Asus tech support, will see what kind of answer I get from them. Thanks

Hi People of the world! As you can see im new to here so yeah i just might be in the wrong section...
So, I just got my shiny android a week ago, and know it sits on my desk, lifeless, like a brick. Like literally its dead! I don't know if I can fix it or the BIOS (if theres one in Samsung Galaxies) is fried, or maybe the motherboard is fried, or the battery overcharged, etc. But I just cant do anything! I'm totally out of ideas!
Heres the problem, I first rooted my android successfully, and played around with my android a while. But as you expect I just coudn't wait for the jelly bean update! So, I desided I would give a try to take the Russian firmware instead. That was already a bad idea, but I read on some threads that it would work fine, so I downloaded one from Sammobile.com. The real mistake? I downloaded the wrong phone. I own a Samsung Galaxy S Advance NFC Version;GT-I9070P The one I downloaded was UnNFC version; GT-I9070. Well, I didn't realize that, and proceeded with entering download mode and eventually flashing the PDA file from Sammobile with ODIN. So I pressed start. It started the process, and after 5 min it said in blue: RESET. I saw the phone rebooting. Now, another big mistake: I started touching the power button, which I shouldn't have done. Then, instead of waiting, as soon as seeing the thing wasnt booting, I took out the battery and unplugged the USB cable. Then after a while the PASS appeared in green. So it went successfully? NONONO Now it wont boot! More specifically, it wont TURN ON! like it wont whow any sign of life. As if it had no battery or USB.
Today I discovered, If I hold Vol UP+Power+Home when its connected to my PC, it makes the beep, shows that it failed to install the driver for "U8500 USB ROM" What the (*^&(&%*(&^&* is that??? Also, in 5 seconds, the device disappears, meaning that I must hold the button combo for another 20 seconds.
So, I've got no connectivity to ODIN, nor Kies, and I cant go into download mode, nor recovery mode.
Any Help?
Pleeaase if you can help youre a super god of androids!
ok, so if I understand correctly, You can't even turn on a phone - no samsung logo, no yellow triangle, nothing, right?

Exactly. Nothing at all.
The only evidence that its not fried is that the computer detects it as U8500 USB ROM for 5 seconds whenever i hold the power button or any combination. Nothing on the phone though.

Ikr its really bad to break your phone as soon as i get it. Worse, for me its a few of days to my birthday! Worse thing that could happen. I will PM you if i happen to find a good solution. Also, to make it really the worst thing, the GT-I9070 is one of the less popular phones (not like the s3). The NFC version? Even rarer! So not only are there not many developers working for that phone, not many people have really encountered problems with the phone at all.

Everything was successful and it had auto-rebooted after the downgrade and stuck with Start up screen. When I removed battery and tried again..it bricked! No recovery mode, No download mode, no power on.

So you find any solution? I have a similar problem right now.
I have the D-800 AT&T LG G2, It was rooted with KitKat 4.4.2. After I rooted my phone, I tried several different ways to install TWRP onto it. I tried FreeGee, adb shell, and straight from TWRP App, nothing worked, because when I tried to boot into TWRP it would just come up with the LG Logo and "Secure Boot Error" and "Certification Error" or something like that, then be a blank screen. I then just held the power button to turn it off, and it would turn back on and run fine, no problem. I figured it never installed right, and so I left TWRP alone. I know you are not supposed to take an OTA after install TWRP, but thinking TWRP never installed on the phone, I took the OTA, and now it will do the "Error" messages and blank screen, but my power off, power on trick doesn't work anymore. I can boot into Recovery Mode, but when I do a Factory Reset, the screen just goes blank. I have tried to put it into Download Mode by pressing Volume Up + Power when hooked up to a PC, but nothing happens. I feel as though its a tough brick. Please Help!

Bump Please. Same Exact Problem With Me, Rooted, Couldnt Get A Recovery Installed (Even Though I've Literally Been Doing Custom ROMs Since The G1 Released) And As Of The Other Day, AT&T Kept Bugging Me To Update To 4.4.2, Even Though I Was Already At 4.4.2. I Kept Declining, But Today My Battery Died, And When It Turned On, It Automatically Installed It, And I'm Getting The Same Errors And Everything.

I could not find a fix for this problem. Instead, I sent it back saying that it updated automatically and then it didn't work. They can not tell that you have rooted it, because it is so messed up, SO DONT TELL THEM THAT YOU DID! It'll take about 2-3 weeks foe it to be sent back. It'll be free as long as you are under warranty. Just talk to a customer service person on LGs Online Customer Service people. I hope this helps you out!
