Hi!
I updated my prime to JB a couple days ago and succfesfully restored root, yesterday I played around with it and changed the governor and the clock speed to 1.4 Ghz using No-frills, Now it is constantly rebootning after about 10-15 seconds within startup. In the past No-frills have been excellent detecting unclean shutdowns, however not this time...
Is it possible to fix this?
have you tried reformatting the prime? I know it's the last thing you'd want to do but it might be the only option.

I think that will solve the problem. But how do I do it if it's rebooting after 15 sec?

You can wipe your prime by powering off, and holding volume down while powering back up. Then you select the wipe option and you are off! No OS loading required.
You will lose root in some fashion, though. May be possible to get it back, as I had to wipe and successfully restored.

Same thing here, was working fine for a few days now it's rebooting every 15 sec or so.. I did have to manually install JB after the update failed. Wonder if that has anything to do with it??
Every time it reboots it says android is updating. Odd
I have this problem... Power+ volume down, tham wipe data!! With wipe i dont lose root!

Same here
I'm having the same problem here, although the update seemed to go fine for me and it has been working great for the last few days. I have not unlocked either, pretty much stock TP (just a lurker here on XDA). Before I wipe, is there any way to recover some of the data I have on it? It doesn't stay booted up long enough to get anything off of it. I emailed Asus tech support, will see what kind of answer I get from them. Thanks

Im really trying to figure out what the chances of permanant damage being done by installing cm7. It was extremly hard to get my touchpad and to lose it would be horrid. My question is has there been any confirmed bricks from installing cm7? If theres even one i will wait till its out of alpha cant break my tp.
If I'm not mistaken, webos doctor makes that nearly impossible.
edit: reboot was successful after a few tries
Houston, we have a problem.
I installed CM7 last night. Restored all my apps from phone and got it all set up. Rebooted a few times and it was working flawless. Plugged it into the charger and went to sleep.
Today, the device is dead.
Perhaps it's completely frozen, idk.
Holding power and home for 30 seconds didnt reboot it?

Well, w/e, it finally worked haha. Thanks. I had given it up for the time being lol.
There is a guy who has broken his Touchpad while installing CM. The Touchpad didn't had enough battery for completing the whole process, and it is just brick now. The guy made a post on XDA I don't remember where.

If it's the same one I saw, he followed it up by saying that holding power+menu brought it back after a charge.
Bricking requires overwriting something in partitions 1-12, which is let's just say difficult to do accidentally with cm's kernel.
I'm wondering if anyone is having trouble with their phone rebooting constantly? I recently changed recoveries to 5.5.0.4, and now my phone reboots constantly. Never had this problem with the buggy no off-charging CWM (although I had the worst time getting my phone to boot after the battery died ), and I don't think I've changed anything else (same ROM) since then except recovery, but I don't think it's from recovery.
This is how it started: I was playing Tiny Tower last night to drain my battery, so I could have a fresh charge. When it got around 3% life, it rebooted, and now it has been rebooting whenever I turn the screen on for a few minutes. I tried fixing permissions and reinstalling NRGZ stock kernel, but it's still rebooting.
Has anyone else had this happen?
Edit: Went ahead and wiped everything and re-installed Energy ROM, and it seemed to have fixed the problem, but it just rebooted again. Starting to think it's a hardware problem now.
Also just for clarification, it's not a full reboot (no HTC splash screen); it just goes back to the boot animation.
Update: I went into the bootloader and did a factory reset and then wiped everything from CWM again and reinstalled Energy. I have slowly been restoring apps fron Titanium Backup, and I think the reboots were being caused by RootDim (possibly reacting negatively with NRGZ button backlight tweak). I'm not 100% sure about this, but it didn't start until I used RD to completely turn off the button lights. Anyways, the reboots seemed to have stopped for now...
I had a similar problem happening after I installed RootDim, but I never really inquired about it so I just left it uninstalled.
However, I saw on the forums that people solved these types of constant rebooting issues by going into CWM recovery > advanced > fix permissions.
I never tried it, but I kind of wish you didn't factory reset and reflash so you could give it a shot and let us know if it solves the problem

I tried fix permissions, but it didn't work.
Are you sure you're flashing the kernel properly? Flash the ROM, then reboot the phone from recovery and let it boot before using the kernel flasher.
My buddy had a constant reboot issue (along with other issues) using that recovery when I tried rushing and flashing the kernel right after the ROM while still in recovery.

There are a few apps that have been noted to cause reboots. Unfortunately I heard Pandora was one of them. If you call T-Mobile tech they can give you short list of reboot app culprits.

Having same fake reboot prob too
I just bought an Amaze from Ebay and it is running Energy rom. Once a day, it goes to that boot up screen with the spinning rings. However it's not a full reboot like you said, it just freezes the phone then I have to take out the battery and restart it. I am not a developer, so I have to ask, what is root dim? Sounds like that might be my problem. How do I fix it?

Like GlacierGuy said, RootDim is an app that I was using to shut the capacitive button lights off, but it was causing my phone to reboot. It's been fine ever since I took it off.
Hi, I recieved a refurbished replacement rezound from asurion when i dropped mine in water a couple of weeks ago. When i got the phone it immediately had the problem of rebooting all the time. I didnt think anything of it assuming that it was just a problem with ics so i rooted the phone and installed a different rom, i still had the rebooting problem so i flashed another rom and i Still had the problem. The phone seemingly reboots at random dozens of times a day. It has even locked up and rebooted in the recovery and even the bootloader. I cant return it because i dropped it and there is damage so i would have to pay 100$ again. any help?
If you tried complete wipe (system, data, cache, Dalvic) and clean flash without restoring anything and it's still rebooting, I would say the next step should be an RUU. (HERE is the latest).

Yup, i always wipe it clean. Ill try an ruu, but that has nothing to do with it rebooting even in the revovery and bootloader does it?
I know very little of how this low-level hardware control stuff works, but it could technically be possible to make a faulty hboot that will reboot sometimes but normally work. An RUU will replace your hboot with stock, so if it's anything hboot related, the RUU should fix it. If it's not hboot related, I'm afraid it could only be faulty hardware. You could try replacing the battery, but I don't see how a battery could cause reboots. Also, if it is faulty hardware that shuts the phone down completely, flashing an RUU could be risky - if it shuts down while the hboot or radios are being flashed, you could be left with a hard brick, which would be even worse than constant rebooting.
As I said, though, I don't know much about phone hardware or low-level software, so it could be some other problem that I'm entirely unaware of.
I have the battery from my old phone that i could try. and could it have anything to do with the sim card? im using the sim card that came with my old phone that i dropped in water and i didnt use the new one they sent me because i didnt really want to go through the trouble of activating it.
I know nothing of how SIM cards work, but you could try taking out the card, and seeing if the phone will still reboot.
If it doesn't reboot right away, just activate the new one and see how it will work then - it's just a 5 minute (or even shorter) phone call.

And you might want to get a velcro glove and case set.
What is your hboot version, what recovery are you running, and what rom did you install?
Have you tried connecting your phone to the computer in fastboot mode and removing the battery while it's powered by USB and see if you get the random rebooting in hboot when the battery is out?
Try removing the sim and booting as was mentioned earlier as well.
So update, I installed set cpu and set it at performance and the max at 1300mhz and it hasnt rebooted since, which is saying something since it would reboot about every minute before. I fixed it! but its still not as nice as my girlfriends DNA haha oh well. thank you all for your help

Did you do this on a stock kernel?
Get another replacement. Mine had an issue where wifi would not turn on. Even after I s off and tried installing roms and kernels it wouldn't boot. My replacement works perfect.
I couldn't have gotten a free one because I dropped it and there are scratches on it now.

By switching it to performance mode you locked the CPU at its Max value which will annihilate your battery if you leave it like that. What that means is that the voltage of your CPU was too low at the bottom end and it was making the phone reboot. If your min before was 192, bump it to 384. If it was 384, bump it to 432.

I had asurion replace my incredible when I broke it once. Shortly after the CPU would over heat all the time and reboot. They covered it under warranty even though it was used. They might cover it under warranty if it hasn't been too long.

Hi guys,
I am experiencing a strange thing on my phone. Some days ago i tried DOVA a PA 2.50 port, and at first it was working well and all was good for some days, then 2 or 3 days ago it started to crash and freeze or just didn't wake up, randomly. So i did a full wipe again and tried to see if it fixed the problem, unfortunately it didn't.
My next move was to fully wipe again and flash all the way back to the official PA 3.15, where there was no problem, but the phone still crash
So here i am, asking if any of you could help or even tell me my phone is done and needs to get repaired.
It may be due to sds fix. Try kernel linked in my signature. No more freezes for me
I get freezes on all cm kernels

After 5 mins i had my crash with the new Kernel, so the phone is alive in some way, course when pushing the home buttom some times in a row, the screen turns negative "white". But don't reatch to anything els

If you still can, reset your counter via Triangle Away because you might have to bring it to a service center if the device dies. So to be on the safe side I would recommend to do it while you still can.
So before sending my phone to rep, anyone els might have a solution?
The phone freeze randomly.
I can't wake it up often - a new message do wake the phone, so that is really strange.
Factory reset. Format internal and external sd. Backup everything first though

Okay, i did an unroot and then root. and all is running great
It's happened alot over past two weeks and it's now done it 3 times in past 2 1/2 days. Screen stays black press any button does nothing and hold down power still does nothing. Only way is to hold volume up and power for 3 vibrations then power back on its really annoying and must be due to some problem....?

am going thru this currently ... and i cant do anything to the device at all! urs might work after the restart ... i've done the power button/volume up restart that didnt help ... did the emergency reset using the red button also didnt work ... the phone is running in the background as i can still receive whatsapp msgs but i cant view them as am receiving "inititalbootsetup" isnt responding either close or wait ... and again both of these options arent working ..
Go to settings and disable auto brightness. I'm not sure why it works, but after researching for a while on this same issue, this is the setting that worked for me. Try it and update us if it works.

Did you guys update to 257 without wiping? I didn't wipe, but there might be some bugs sticking around from 532. Do a factory reset (full wipe if you have recovery) and see if that solves it.
any updates on this issue .the device screen simply doesnt wake-up from sleep ,unless you hard reboot .
i'm on 290 stock ,and testing the auto brightness disable method.
update : issue persists with auto-brightness disabled .
Hmm, it has to be a software bug. I can't see how this could be a hardware issue. Have you tried everything? Wiping? Re-flashing? Flashing a different ROM?
I did still get it on stock rooted rom. Twice in a day

I have it just once though two days ago. Force reboot it by the button i almost gone mad when it's still not working, but somehow after a minute, it's normal again. I don't know why. But in case of yours, try to upgrade to the latest ROM first. That might fix it for you. No point for rooting if you can't fix the problem so let it go.
