[Q] Live with Walkman got wet - Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini, Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, A

Hey all, last week i got my LWW onto a washing machine, i realized this like 20 min after it started, so i inmediately took it out, and disassembled it.
Since then, ive tried almost everything, drying it with rice, brushing it with alcohol, direct heat from a heat blower, but i just cant get it to start.
At first it didnt do anything when i pressed the power button, after i rinsed it with alcohol, it started vibrating, led backlight turns on, then it gets a black screen. It gets into a loop, where the backlight led lits, then black screen, then nothing, then it starts all over again. I can get into flashmode, and even flash firmwares, i just cant get it to boot in normal mode. Oh, and theres no led indicator, no green, red nor blue. What could it be? anything software related or is it hardware related?

This should be hardware related, cause the water shoudn't have touched the software
Drying with rice was a good idea, I don't know what you could do apart from this. I think you will have to send it to service

Hardly will you be able to recover your phone with something related to Software. He must have come in games are probably shorting the motherboard. Tera in a leading specialized assistance.

Since i can go into flashmode, is there a way for me to somehow debug whats causing the problems, like a log like from the boot sequence, to narrow down the problem?? Is there any software that could help me achieve this?
Also, should the LWW start if i have the touchscreen cable detached? or does it need to have everything connected to propery start??

[Q] Xperia X10 won't turn on.

Hi. The phone application was not functioning well and the F/C dialog showed up. I powered off the phone and from that point, the phone won't turn on.
The battery was fully charged before this happened.
When I press the power button, the phone vibrates for half a second, the screen brightens up but does not show anything but a black screen.
I removed SIM and SD cards, removed the battery and performed the above steps but nothing happened.
I also tried to put on the charger to see what's going on. Once I plug the charger, the phone's screen brightens but shows only blank (even without pressing the power button)
When connected to the charger, the green light for charging is on for some minutes, then goes off automatically.
I tried to connect it to the PC, and PC Companion finds the device as usually. It even shows the dialog on the pc screen to mount the device.
I tried a hard reset, but does not work
On some point, the sony logo appeared and then a dialog saying: "sorry process system is not responding". The first time I pressed Force Close and the phone turned off. Immediately after that, the phone turned on and showed the exact message. I pressed "Wait" but nothing happened in the next 15 minutes.
I called Sony's support center and they suggested a software update. Did the process exactly as it should, but again, even after the software update the screen shows nothing but black. It is all the time brightened for some reason.
I tried to turn off the phone for some time by removing the battery, but as soon as I put the battery back on, the phone's screen brightens and stays that way forever.
The phone was functioning perfectly up until this issue. The only application I had installed apart from some games, was AWDLauncher. On the screen I had only a TASK widget and a battery status widget.
The phone is 3 months old and has been always in perfect condition.
ANY help would be appreciated!!!!
Many Thanks
Try to format phone with this method hope it should work as it seems the issue is with OS only ..

I tried the steps found in the link you gave me, but I couldn't go any further after step no (5) from the tutorial, as it would require to enable Debugging mode and I cannot access the OS (since the device won't turn on).
Is there a way to format all the contents of the device and have them replaced by running SEUS (as it always says that my device is up to date now)?
Was it this:
http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/sup.../detailed/updateservice/xperiax10?cc=gb&lc=en
That Sony Ericsson told you to do?
If not, use that.
Download it, follow the steps when it says you have the latest version, press "Install Anyway".
Hope this works.
Hi itTim. thanks for the response
this is what i did but no improvement at all ((
Sounds like you broke your LCD screen somehow.
That would suck because I broke mine and it cost me $200 to fix.
Hi Hypercore.
Yes that could be the problem. The thing is that I always took rally good care of the phone, always carried in a leather pouch and never droped it. How sensitive is this lcd anyway?? Did you notice any cracks on your lcd or was the problem simillar to mine?
Thanks
When you turn on the phone does the lcd backlight turn on?
If so, look for any faint lines of color (usually a hairline size). If you see any of those then your screen is cracked.
the backlight is on, but there are no lines of colour on the lcd screen.
another weird thing is that the green light on the top blinks one or two times every time i put on the battery. even if the phone is off, once I insert the battery turns on automatically after a couple of seconds.
If all else fails you could try to flash back to your original fw with the tools here:

That won't do anything.
I had almost the same issue. Nothing worked. But, when I removed the battery and left it for a day (24h) without it, it just started working again. Still working without issues..
Good luck!

Phones are very wierd pieces of technology. I once bricked my k610i and that's a phone that's supposed to be impossible to un-brick, but out of nowhere a month or so later i picked it up, hit power and it turned on perfectly. Made no sense at all, but it worked.
Taking the battery out for a long time probably took all the electrical charges from it (kind of like how a computer power supply / monitor can hold power charges) and reset your handset.

Indeed. It could be a frozen chip, memory fault, power-regulator and so on.

if you have done this and did not worked , then it is the LCD.
send it to workshop and check it there.
Guys i Really need the solve of this problem , my xperia has blank screen now without backlight and the phone completely doesn't work . when i put the battery and prees the switch botton it gives me 3 red signals , i've updated and hard reset but it didn't work , and btw the LCD is fine , any idea. did removing the battery worked???? . please answer
After a looooot of time since my latest post, finally my Xperia came back to life. There was a battery failure which means the phone was ok all the time. Weird thing is that the led light showed that the battery was charging ok. I removed the battery and after a lot of time it is working ok again. This was really really odd.
FYI for anyone else that gets this issue.
I just had this for the past hour after trying to change my baseband....could not get it back for anything.
What I did finally try was run another baseband via flash tool, connected to usb and it started flashing....after flash phone powered on again...yeah I agree with everyone, that is freaking scary when it happens.

[Q] Dead Razr - Weird Overheat Death! Anyone?

Hello,
I was at a concert last night, and took a few pics and videos on my phone..when I put it back in my pocket it became overheated - then the screen went blank. I could feel the heat almost burn my leg. From this the LED flashed a full variety of colours (greens, purple & white) and when pressing the power button nothing happened. It eventually started flashing red as I drove home but refused to come back on. I put it on charge when I got home where it was a very faint white colour LED. I did the manual reset (power&volume down)..nothing.
It's been on charge all night and it was just dead - no light - nothing this morning. I've charged it this morning at work, and there's a white light, sometimes faint, but trying to start it is impossible.
I'm now left phoneless as my spare phone doesn't take the Micro Sim card. I have insurance, but they want a £50 excess - I've contacted Motorola as this seems to be an internal electrical fault, but I was wondering if anyone has any hints or tips as it could be weeks before I have a phone again.
Anyone experienced / managed to sort this themselves?
Laura
Hi Laura, welcome! (I hope BRFC doesn't stand for Bristol Rovers!?)
Are you able to actually turn the phone on at all, ie get any screen to show?
I would imagine that the phone is newish, it's still covered under warranty so it may be worth contacting motorola directly to see if they are able to do anything.
When you plug it into your pc/mac and try and turn it on, does the pc pick up the phone at all?

[Q] Dead WT19i?

Well, a few weeks back, my wt19 got wet, at first i let it dry, put it on rice, cleaned it with alcohol, etc. When i thought it was dried, i thought i would give it a try so i turned it on, there were no led lights, It vibrated then showed a black screen and apparently, it got into a loop where it would reach the black screen over and over again. At that point i was able to get into flashmode, and so i flashed it, but it kept in the same loop as before. So i thought it needed further cleaning. So i cleaned it, and let it dry a few days.
Now it just vibrates, then nothing. It doesnt charge, it doesnt get into flash mode, no led lights, but i am able to testpoint it, so i was able to retrieve the info from omnius, and it gave me everything, model , imei, etc. Also, i had an unlocked bootloader, so besides being able to testpoint it, i am able to get into fastboot mode, where i can retrieve info as well, and even flash bootloader.
So what could be the problem?, is it software related? or hardware related? Apparently the processor and flash memory are ok, since i can retrieve info from the phone. Maybe it needs a reflux??
Since i got it wet, i cant take it to sony.

It would be best to take it to Sony.
I think its the screen that might have been damaged, its hardware problem, so find a way to take it to Sony,
Repairing might be more expensive than buying a new one. Go ask somebody from your local store.

[Q] Can't start or charge my S3 i9300

Hey, i am new to xda, so i don't really know if this is the right category for this thread.
I am running Slimbean: Slim-i9300-4.3.build.2-OFFICIAL-1322 (the newest stable version)
And i have dropped my phone several times, so my screen is broken and gone over the back button (it still works).
Anyways, i dropped today AGAIN out of my pocket, in a car, when i was about to shut the door, so the phone was smashed by the door. The screen didn't crack more then it already is, but it shut down, and now i cannot start it. I figured it was becouse it ran out of battery (i only had like 2-1% when this happened), so i plugged in my charger, and nothing happens.
Usually when i plug it in when the phone is dead, i get this grey battery icon on the screen wich freezes, but it works.
Now nothing happens, and when i try to start it, nothing happens except the little red motion sensor thing is blinking red once in like 5 secs.
Do i need to buy a new battery? Please help!
P.S. I know i'm not very good at english, but please help!

EDIT: When i plugged my charger in and let it charge for like 15 mins, the LED starts showing yellow (wich means it's 15%+ but not done charging).
And nothing happens when i tried to wake it up. But when i held the power button for like 3-4 secs, the yellow light disappears. It does not vibrate or anything that it use too.

[HELP] My phone randomly died, and is now unresponsive. What should I do?

My phone was working perfectly normally last night, and when I went to bed I put it to charge like normal and went to sleep. Today morning I found my phone to be completely dead and the charging light wasn't on as well. At first I thought it was the outlet or wire so i replaced both of those to no avail. The charging light isnt coming up, and the phone isnt reacting to any button presses either. I had the lollipop ROM installed.
Is there anything I can do?
Hold power + volume up until it vibrates, then turn it on. I believe it is caused by a random restart that can't get through because of the alarm that is set. I cannot confirm it though, because logcat always crashes before it happens and I am not capable of getting around it. It is also the reason why I will change my phone soon. That is something I found while googling.
You should try removing the battery and putting it back, but do it only if nothing else helps. (You will have to open your back cover so you will loose warranty and your phone will no longer be waterproof.)

I would never go so far as doing this.
TC, I recommend opening up the Sim card flap, find a pin and and press hold of the yellow button that you see in it. It is basically the best solution to hard reset the phone.
