[Q] Is it possible to use Moto Razr MTP with VMware - Motorola Droid RAZR

I am having a problem using the MTP drivers when connecting my phone to a windows virtual maching running on a Mac Book Pro running VMware.
I know this is an unusual setup, and I am not really asking for help debugging this, but rather wondering if anyone has gotten a Razr (or any other phone for that matter) to work using MTP USB drivers on a virtual machine.
Mac OSX lion
latest VMware
Moto Razr, verizon, stock, kernel = 4.0.4 3.0.8-g29cf5e7, Build = 6.7.2-180_DHD15_M4-31
Windows7 64bit Virtual Machine
I have tried several solutions to no avail, and just wanted a yes/no answer on if this is possible. Thanks in advance.

Can I upgrade a ROM and use QPST with a x64 OS?

I am seriously thinking about going to x64 and I need to know if the drivers exist for QPST and the HTC modem driver to have ESPT (on the phone) and QPST (on the computer) talk to each other.
If someone would be as nice to give me some URL's for that driver, it would be nice.
And if the standard QPST won't function on a 64bit OS, is there a version that will?
Also, will BuildOS function on x64?
I have been using computers since I was 8 years old and now I am 32, I feel like an ass for not knowing this, so please be kind in your flamings...
Yes, both work on Vista x64. Make sure to run the applications as Administrator.
Use this file for the HTC Modem drivers required by QPST:
http://www.vzam.net/uploadedfiles/WModemDriverInstaller.exe
It will install the x64 drivers automatically. Then put your phone into diagnostic mode, connect via USB, and shazam!

Mini Pro Flash Mode on Mac

Hi,
Im trying to use the flashtool on a windows XP VM using VirtualBox on my Mac.
At the moment the flashtool doesn't notice when my mini pro is in 'flash mode'
Ive tried adding the sdcard folder to the shared folders on my VM but this doesn't appear when the phone is off or in flash mode.
I'd appreciate any help,
Thanks.
FlashTool needs direct USB access to your phone, mounting and sharing /sdcard/ on your Mac will not help.
I haven't used Virtualbox in a while but in VMware Fusion (and I think in Parallels too) every time I plug in a USB device I need to select whether I want to connect it to the host (my Mac) or to the virtual machine. If I select VM, the USB device is invisible to the Mac host and is connected to the VM instead. This way FlashTool works fine.
I imagine that for Virtualbox you need to perform a similar operation. The manual (h t t p ://www.virtualbox.org/manual/ch03.html) has a section relating to USB, you might find more information there.
Sorry I can't give you step by step instructions... it's been too long. Anyhow I hope this helps you in the right direction.
thanks for the reply. i managed to get windows xp on virtualbox to recognise the mini pro but still nothing happened when i put it in flash mode. any ideas why?

[Q] Flashing on Windows VBOX from a Mac :D

Hi again. I am just curious, has anybody tried and got the drivers installed properly on a Mac host Windows guest Virtual machine? I've also tried this on a windows laptop, but it has problems with the update tool. While Windows on VBOX doesn't have these problems, though it can't properly install S/W upgrade mode drivers. Any ideas? DD

I just installed "Parallels Desktop" (instead of VirtualBox) and it worked like a charm, in case someone has the same problem I had

[Q] i9300 Linux MTP/PTP connection

Hi, A while ago I tried setting up MTP/PTP connection via USB from to transfer files from my S3 i9300 to PC, but without any success.
I've been using Airdroid since then but it's painfully slow for large numbers of photos , and wondered if anyone has been successful with this? I'm using Gentoo Linux on my laptop and all PC's I have, with kernels ranging from 3.4 (for VMWare compatibilty) to 3.12. I tried using Heimdall to root the phone but gave up and used the standard Windows programs under VMWare in the end.
Any pointers / help appreciated

[Q] Help connecting to a linux laptop?

I've tried connecting to my laptop using elementary os (based off ubuntu 12.04 core) and Ubuntu 14.04
I can use usb drives fine, but it will not connect to my kindle. I've tried installing gMTP and Calibre which seems to help other kindle users, but doesn't appear to help the HDX.
Those using Linux, please offer some suggestions.
