[Q] Help connecting to a linux laptop? - Kindle Fire HDX 7" & 8.9" Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

I've tried connecting to my laptop using elementary os (based off ubuntu 12.04 core) and Ubuntu 14.04
I can use usb drives fine, but it will not connect to my kindle. I've tried installing gMTP and Calibre which seems to help other kindle users, but doesn't appear to help the HDX.
Those using Linux, please offer some suggestions.

[Q] Is it possible to use Moto Razr MTP with VMware

I am having a problem using the MTP drivers when connecting my phone to a windows virtual maching running on a Mac Book Pro running VMware.
I know this is an unusual setup, and I am not really asking for help debugging this, but rather wondering if anyone has gotten a Razr (or any other phone for that matter) to work using MTP USB drivers on a virtual machine.
Mac OSX lion
latest VMware
Moto Razr, verizon, stock, kernel = 4.0.4 3.0.8-g29cf5e7, Build = 6.7.2-180_DHD15_M4-31
Windows7 64bit Virtual Machine
I have tried several solutions to no avail, and just wanted a yes/no answer on if this is possible. Thanks in advance.

[Q] Flashing on Windows VBOX from a Mac :D

Hi again. I am just curious, has anybody tried and got the drivers installed properly on a Mac host Windows guest Virtual machine? I've also tried this on a windows laptop, but it has problems with the update tool. While Windows on VBOX doesn't have these problems, though it can't properly install S/W upgrade mode drivers. Any ideas? DD

I just installed "Parallels Desktop" (instead of VirtualBox) and it worked like a charm, in case someone has the same problem I had

[Q] how to setup pppoe over UsbToEthernet adapter?

hi friends,
Following is my setup.
1. Nexus 7(old one) tablet with usb-to-ethernet adapter. I am able to access internet through this.
2. I have one ubuntu 12.04 LTS linux machine where I am running pppoe server by installing package rp-pppoe package. The server works fine, I tested from another computer with mac os.
I want to make my Nexus 7 as pppoe-client and linux pc as server and try to connect these two. But don't know how to proceed. What are things I need on my Nexus to run pppoe-client.
Do I need to enable kernel module or any app is available? Everywhere I found only the pppoe over wifi only. But could not find for pppoe over usb-to-ethernet adapter.
Please advice.

[Q] Ubuntu booted from pendrive on android smartphone

Hi everyone
I was wondering if it is possible to boot Ubuntu or other Linux distribution on android device using pendrive and USB OTG cable. I've got Ubuntu 12.10 installed on my pendrive and I can boot it nearly on any PC. It is any trick to do this on Android? For example using AndroidVNC and Terminal emulator?
Thanks for any replies
PS: my phone is WT19i with FlawlessICS v4.0 if this does any matter

RemixOS standalone on tablet UEFI 32bit

Hello!
I have a tablet with UEFI 32bits (it's a Emdoor EM-i8080 with Intel® Atom™ Processor Z3735E) and I'm trying to install just RemixOS at the HDD, without Windows side by side.
The thing is, I tried many tutorials that I found here at XDA and nothing seems to work with my tablet. I understand that the process is the same as install the RemixOS in a VM, right?
I managed to format the HDD with GParted, install RemixOS with "INSTALL=1" but, after the install, it just doesn't boot. Then I tried another tutorial using a Linux USB Live, but the linux usb doesn't boot (tried with Ubuntu and Debian).
Any ideas of what I'm doing wrong?
Thanks! =D
Hi, I know this an old thread but if you have not fixed it yet then this might help. I got a similair tablet and got Linuxium 16.04 and 16.10 to boot on it, by using kernel parameter
nomodeset
then at least you can get to the desktop. I have only tried the 64bit and Gnome, Unity, Xubuntu, Kubuntu(don't use this one as it uses too much RAM).

I can't help you with the android as I have not yet got that to boot to desktop.
Hope this helps
