Does Vipermod PrimeTime work with Jelly Bean? - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

I just upgraded to Jelly and would like to unlock and root my tablet. This would be my first time tampering with my tablet. I only have experience rooting my EVO and Rezound following the instructions. So I was wondering if Vipermod works with Jelly bean. Thanks.

hey, unfortunatly neither vipermod nor debugfs is working in JB atm..
if you didnt protect your root with rootkeeper while on ics, youll have to wait for a new root method

I lost my root after the new update(GPS UPDATE i think)... can I get rooted again?
I'm on ICS 4.0.3 and I used the viperMod Prime Time v3.1 root before the update(GPS UPDATE). After the update I lost my root, can I use viperMod again?

Did you update OTA? Also did you have OTA Rootkeeper installed? You have to have done both of these to be able to keep your root at present. They'll be working on a root for this update as we speak so it should be too long before a root emerges.

Yup, I did the OTA update, sadly i did not used rootkeeper.
I would have tried reroot but i dont have my pc with me.
Thanks for the quick reply.

[Q] Root for Jelly Bean?

I really miss root. I'm in Jelly Bean 4.1.2. Is there any root method yet? Thanks.
You didn't use OTA root keeper

Nope. Only way to keep root is if you backed it up when you were on ICS. Then restore after Jelly Bean. If you didn't do it, you're stuck with no root for now.

Root 4 Jelly Bean

Am I missing something or is no one working on a automated root method or a simple one click method for the latest jelly bean release?
It seems as though the current method of the unlocking the bootloader is not working even after following the directions to the letter. Basically, it fails to unlock everytime.
Edit: this appears to be a known issue in the only way to resolve it is to mail it in to Asus.

[Q] ISC or JB root

Getting ready to do my very first root on my Razr Maxx XT912.

Should I OTA to JB then root, or root from ICS or does it really matter?
Any benefits or downsides to either?
Thanks,
Jeff

You might get more support on XDA if you stay on ICS, esp if the jb OTA just came online. I personally don't think there's all that much benefit, you can always do your prl, profile, update, once you root anyway. But if you want to flash a custom jb ROM, all the ones I've flashed require you to flash a stock one first. Then if that's the case, then yeah, def ota to jb so you have it already when you flag a custom jb.good luck. Read read read before you root!

Well went to JB before root. Then found out they did away with speed dial. I loved speed dial! Anyway everything works out great. Thanks those that replied.
