Hellow all
I updated my x10 to 2.1.A.0.435 last week
It was all fine for the first few days
But I found something terrible two days ago
My battery is draining for no reason!!
I dont know why!!
It drained from 100% to 18% in one night(8hr)
and it said most of the battery was used on cell standby(52%)
I've never seen this before
Before I updated the battery was mostly used on display or idling
I have every setting the same as it was in 2.0.A.0.024
Does anybody have the same problem as I do?
Please help me
thx

That sounds like exactly what happened for me as well. It was fine 5 days and then went downhill with the cell standby number getting bigger and bigger.
Any solutions?
Thanks much.
sounds very much like a faulty app to me, stopping the phone from sleeping. What did you install immediately prior to the phone battery problems starting? Do you have a task killer? if they're not properly set up they can prevent the phone from sleeping.
I haven't installed any new apps for a while.
May be really flash again. I did mine n its gives me one full day n a bit more

I forgot about Handy Calc, which I did install about the time of the battery problem. I uninstalled it and went back to my old program, Real Calc. let's see if that was the problem.
Thanks for helping.

adfree
launcherpro
homeswutcher
Does anyone install these app and have the same problem with me?
Or anyone has the same apps but doesnt have the problem?
Thx
I flashed again...
and installed nothing
but cell standby is still high
cell standby 39%
idle 22%
any solutions??
Thx
Bro m in.. 024 wid set cpu display off ->245 mhz. N jit enable.. battery on normal usage gives almost 2 day backup..
1st try set cpu..
display off profile -> 245 mhz
(Root required)
on screen -> ondemand or performance @full mhz (i love it)
if not work
fash wid new f/w @. 24
hope it helps
had the same prob but installed juice defender and enabled auto kill in aggresive mode and each 30 mins
sometimes it can last for like 4 days w/o charging (using 3g) others not so lucky lol
I ran into the same problem.
What causes Cell Standby to run so high that I have found to work for me is 1 of 2 reasons.
1: Your phone is continualy searching for service
2: Your phone is not staying on 3G and is jumping back and forth from 3G to Edge network due to bad service. Or your on Edge and it is trying to connect to an unavailable 3G Network.
I fixed my problem with turning off 3G Service unless I know for a fact that it is available. As far as not having service, turn on Airplane Mode to keep your cell from searching for service.
How to know whether Im in a good condition of service?
The signal is well (3 of the 4 bars on the frame)
and I think Im always on 3G (I can see only 3G or H on the frame)
But the pointer only shows up when Im downloading apps
Is it normal?
Thx
Reflashed again from update service
installed only astro file manager, google map, systemapp remover and market
but still has the problem......
it is now
cell standby 33%
display 30%
phone idle 26%
can somebody please help..........please......
I think the problem is the 2.1.A.0.435. Almost everyone who updated the firmware to use Z's Froyo Beta 4 reported battery draining issues and some guys suggested that the problem could be sony's new firmware/baseband. Since it affects both ppl using official 2.1 and 2.2.1 Beta 4, seems like they were right. Only workaround I found is keeping the phone with edge only, since the draining issue seems 3g related.
I most definately agree with the above post about the app '' juice defender ''. My battery started sucking the juice after the latest firmware update and even more after the FreeX10 Beta4 ROM but now it last longer than any other time. Just customize the settings for your tastes. I have found that it is not needed to use a task killer.
having the same battery drain problem. Pre 435 update I got 2-3 days without charging, immediately after upgrading to 435 the battery dropped to 60% after 4 hours. No wifi, bluetooth, GPS, 3G or new apps installed. I just think its a crappy software build.
I have the same problem, battery drain 75% in 10 hours, only make 2 calls (10mins) during the 10 hours , I have cell stand by 54% .
After reading this thread, I check my phone and found that Cell Standby is on 67% on .435 firmware. It used to be the Display which is having higher percentage of use. But I never see any unusual drain on my phone. It still drop 1% overnight from 10pm to 7am...
i had this kind of problems on my optimus, wildfire also x10.some apps even after uninstalling leave mess on phone memory which drains battery.i always did hard reset and battery got back to normal
This is not a battery thread. I just wanted to do some maths based on some findings of my own.
I post this screens, taken at 50% battery. I rebooted when full battery for a fresh graph. I'm running "stock" 2.3.4 KG1. Data is always on, two push mail accounts, display on Auto, no gaming, no photos for today.
So, if the graph are accurate (I really doubt that):
1. 17 hrs 38 mins total time on for 50%
from this:
-1 hr 48 mins phone calls
- 45 mins Android OS
-1hr 2 mins display on
-Android system (the thing responsible for widgets, push mail and so on, basically for apps) 7 mins 50 secs!
-Phone idle 16 hrs 35 mins. TIME WHEN NOTHING IS SUPPOSED TO BE RUNNING IN CPU FOREGROUND
- Navigon comes up with 11% BUT I NEVER USED IT- and there are no details on CPU usage either.
- I used 20 mins of sync Wifi for the later part of today, wifi doesn't show on the graph- no clue why.
Here I stand pretty puzzled:
1hr 48 mins of calling + 16 hrs 35 mins of idle is 18 hrs 23 mins! assuming that idle does not include when calls connected and screen off .
Here are the figures for the AOS and how life would be without it.
Android OS chewed 14 % of the 50 % battery. Calling ate 43% for 1 hr 48 mins. If it wasn't for AOS bug, I would have had power to call for some 36 more mins to get to the 50% battery. That's like 30% more talk time without the bug.
Display, set on auto, drained 10% of power for 1hr 2 mins. Android OS bug stole almost 30 mins of display time for every hour . This is 50% wasted power.
Phone Idle is 4% for 16 hrs and 35 mins. So, basically, every minute under raging AOS eats 0.31% of battery. for every 1% the phone idles for 4 hours and 9 mins (and ideal stand-by time of four and an half days ). EVERY MINUTE OF ANDROID OS EATS AWAY 1 HOUR AND 22 MINUTES.
Also, the Widgets and all other stuff are actually consuming half the power eaten away by AOS.
So, if by miracle, the faulty driver is resolved by Samsung, we should get :
30% more talk time
50% more display time
350% more idle time.
Or, for the connoisseurs:
Android OS comes in, battery goes flat. No miscommunication. You can't explain that.
Good post, my own experiences (i only have my GS2 a few days coming from a HD2)
I deleted my battery stats last night and left my phone on,data was enabled nothing like bluetooth/GPS,etc,brightness is set to automatic brightness the phone was at 99% and from 12.29am to 09.59am this morning when i checked it was 83%,not too bad i suppose but could be better, i have fast dormancy disabled and i froze the Samsung apps with Titanium Backup, however the Android OS was at 41% and Maps and Cell Standby both 15%, since then ive been using the phone for some Internet, 1 call and sent a few text messages and it's now currently 12.41pm and it's at 47% and the display now shows at 35% and the Android OS is 23%, im running Lite'ning ROM 1.5, does this seem normal or quite excessive im in 2 minds myself, does the Android OS usually be as high as that when in standby, when im using the phone for a period of time it appears to go down as low as 8%.
All I can say is, use ATK. Its just working great for me.
Regards.

Thank you for this. It makes the problem clear to see. There are a lot of people saying things like "it all adds up to 100%" or "hey Android OS is high, but my battery life is very good".
As you say, we'd get much much better battery life if it weren't for this damn bug. Battery life can be good now. However with a 1650 mah battery, without Android OS wasting precious energy, it would be great...
Great summary!
More info
I have depleted the other 50% of battery so I'll post the values. The phone charged when connected to transfer the files. Well, at the end of the day, it looks like the that:
1. Voice calls drained 39% of battery for 3 hrs and 19 minutes.
2. Display is 2nd with 14% and 2hrs and 20 mins.
3. Android OS gets 3rd place with 12% and 1hr 20-this is the kernel running.
4. Android System- the one you bought the phone for- is pretty shy, only 9% . I repeat, here are all the widgets, Sammy updater, mail and so on.
...
Dialer is 6%, Navigon gets 8%, Cell standby - that's the radio FW- 5%
Phone Idle is the champ with 3% @ 31 hrs and 17 mins. That's the spirit.
Also, GPS status is eating 2,2% for every minute.
Bottom line: if it wasn't for the AOS, I would have had -see below( let's be real and give each process it's share so I'll split the AOS drain to get everybody happy)- before running for the charger .
1. Phone calls. 5.6% more battery- and 23 minutes more of talk time.
2. Display. 1.7% 22 minutes more.
3. Phone idle 0.9 % almost 10 hrs.
The rest of ~4% is shared for Wifi, Cell Standby and android system.
These numbers are valid for my usage pattern, phone calls all day long/ that's why i bought a phone for/.
I might draw some lines here and reveal some facts ( the values might be different according to usage pattern):
ONE MINUTE OF:
AOS bug drains 0.15%
Voice calling (I live on a good network signal area) depletes 0.13%
Display on is lower than calling @ 0.10%.
GPS could be chewing 2% when polled thoroughly.
Widgets and other Sammy crap are not scary at all. In fact, I find them pretty decent under this SW revision.
Maybe some will find these values useful.
Maybe we don't realize the impact of implementing a bad driver. For me, it all makes a lot of sense and annoys me more. Too bad we not on Icrap's ship, the news would have been all over the web.
One last thing though.
There are 2 main issues withSGS2: AOS and wake up lag. Never listen to any wise guy that says the lag comes from deep sleep and you should be lucky if you have it because it means the phone is SLEEPING and not eating away battery. I've noticed lately a trend in trolling this issue. I am confident that the guys behind this reasoning are on the same level with the guys that came up with Killing task managers and empty ram crap in Linux. And they even wonder why the alarm is not working after RAM flush.....
Wake up lag is a side effect of some nasty crap hogging the CPU's front bandwith. I bet any trolls here that when the lag is gone so will the AOS bug be ( at least AOS will be under Idle in %).
My wild guess is a radio issue somewhere.
same problem omg :S i hate this !! but phone is great !!
KG3 Report
Hi,
I have a new report to post, this time under KG3 stock rom. This time WI-Fi off whole time. I used the car dock for 10 mins.
1 day 7 hrs and 57mins from full charge to 15%:
Voice calls 2 hrs and 35 mins -37 %
Display on auto 2 hrs and 27 mins 20%
Android system 13 % Cpu total 10m 16 s
Android OS 9% 53 min 45 s
Dialer 6% C
Cell standby 6%
navigon 4% pops up,never used it
Phone idle 4%
Although it seems the AOS got less cpu with this, the improvement is not so clear. I almost talked 1 hr less with this one.
My android is 49% of 15 hour up time from last charge but the CPU time is only 2 hours 15 minutes for it. Hardly 49% of up time. Do you think maybe firstly there is no bug, its a bug with reporting not AOS usage time and that the phone hardware just eats a lot of juice even in standby. Just a thought. The battery lasts pretty good for the fact that its so small, there's an amoled screen and a dual core processor. Perhaps even in idle the hardware just draws a lot of power to allow a quick jump from standby to fully activated without any waiting around.

Could you post some screens?
Android system is 49%? the percents relate to the battery usage, not the time.
ALSO VERY IMPORTANT:
Dual core CPU should draw less power in standby/idle/sync. this is the idea behind dual/quad cores. If you have the time, read on how do they stack processes.
Deep sleep is not working properly. How come my WIN7 x64 wakes up in less than 1 sec from standby> win kernel is around 300 megs vs 17megs Android? It is a driver issue.

So instead of writing here, we should write to Samsung, correct? I hope this will be resolved soon, OTA update should do nicely!

Believe me, I've tried the highest official way there is. They keep blaming android/google. I even pointed them some apps that were using obsolete scripts and 4-5 ro.* that were hogging the cpu. All they answered is that is under revision. then somebody from the work asked me what the f*** is this communication about and told me to use the nexus S instead.
Here the results of a simple test I did:
KG3, CF-Root, 8 widgets, skype and viber, 2 e-mail accounts. The usage was roughly the same (mostly internet browsing, e-mail cheking and only a few voice calls 20min approx.) The difference is that in the first day I left the sync and WiFi on all the time. On the second day, I left both sync (including background sync) and WiFi off most of the day, except during the time which I was using it (browsing internet, updating market apps, checking e-mail, etc.) The result, as you can see in the screenshots below, is that with sync and WiFi off, I've got almost 26h extra of battery life (18h18min v 1d19h52min). So, for me at least, the battery drain is WiFi+sync.
Looking at the pictures, compare phone awake v screen on. With sync+WiFi, you'll see that the phone was awake many times with the screen off, whereas it didn't happen when the sync+WiFi was off.
Therefore, I think it is better to turn sync+WiFi on only when you really need it, and not all the time. That's what I'm going to do from now on.
Ah, no powersaving settings enabled in any case!
Android OS @2%
Still under KG3, nothing installed lately, nothing at all:
Full battery in the morning almost flat in the evening with very light usage- I on a sort of holiday ....
1. 16h and 2 mins it lasted
2. 57 mins of calling
3. 51 mins of display time
4. Android OS WAS 2 % running for a total of 3 mins
REALLY SAMSUNG?
I want my AoS back.....
i rooted the phone yesterday, screen on time was around 4 hours or so..10% drain per hour average with screen on-off.
freeze all bloatwares and aos went down to less than 10% (was in 40s).
will see battery improvement today.
after root, i still got the yellow rectangle at boot (havent remove it yet)..will it affect battery life? any input?
I froze the WIFI Sharing service and my phone went from dying 25% over 4 hours at work with almost no use (and WIFI off) to lasting all day, or not charging at night and lasting all night and through the next day.
Just saying.

If you don't understand that the yellow triangle ONLY means that the kernel you have flashed does not have the correct signature (i.e. it is a custom kernel) then you shouldn't really be messing with root at all. How would this be relevant to the AOS bug or to battery life?
What is your view on juicedefender?
Battery savers are pieces of **** that turn help battery life by constantly changing the device on something more like Nokia soap.
My Personal view on software that claim to help save on battery was/is as it is about task managers on Android... somehow useless mainly for a few reasons:
1. They interfere with running processes and I haven't seen one really optimized for the system. Some are behaving limiting the performance. Which isn't a good thing.
2. I found that even Watchdog is a drain culprit when it's running after a limbo limbo process.
I have seen this issues before, in PC world. 8-5 years ago, Sony was loading their Vaio series with so much crap that the laptops were slow as a turtle right from a start up. They failed to listed then and lost almost 60% of their market. Others reacted faster and gave the option of removing crapware ( mainly proprietary sofware and trial) when ordering [ btw,of course, anybody could do it by msconfig but few were willing to mess it...].
I can't get it why Sammy, HTC, LG won't offer a barebone/unified Android. We could all get what we need from Market and this is why we have the markets war.
I don't want my update service running in background, nor do I need email app from Samsung...in order to get them off my back I need to root, Edit a file and make sure I mount the right permissions( or BUY something to do it for me) and so on, most people don't want/can't root , not mentioning the longer the chain the more links likely to break, including the warranty is voided ...WHY all the fuss to stop something I don't want?
Microsoft hit the nail in the head with their approach to WP7 (except closing it like Apple). That's because they had to deal with screamers for 20 years and they have a clue about crap ruining an OS.
And yes, I am still waiting to see a dev coming out with a pure Android Rom on whole XDA.... for any device. They all add something to it....a tiny tweak or a tiny thing.
Update and FIX!
My phone is no longer draining massive amount of batt life when idle (3-5% after 7 hours of idle), android system usage is now down to 5-15% instead of 78-97% from before.
My fixes.
1. Turn off data syncing
2. Turn off wifi while on the road (so wifi doesn't constantly look for signals).
3. Clear memory
Yes, att installs a lot of bloatware that constantly update for changes.
If killing those services AND disabling data syncing doesn't help your problem, then you have a kernel problem (like myself).
If this is the case, do the following:
1. Take phone back to att and get a replacement
OR
2. Re-flash your android with the STOCK kernel found here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1286432
OR
3. Reflash with cognition x2 (reported to solve a member's problem, I didn't try this myself).
NOTE** This will root your phone, you will NOT get the exclamation mark during boot up, but kernel counter may be at "1" after this process.
Re-flashing my phone AND applying the three tricks I mentioned above worked for me..finally my phone is no longer crippled with crappy battery life and recharging is A LOT faster now.
I must be going crazy but this sg2 is killing me. I got it from Att yesterday and the battery life has been pretty HORRIBLE. (First time android user btw).
The phone will eat up 10% of my batter life after only 90 mins of idle. I checked the battery usage and Android OS is at around 78%!!! How do I fix this problem? I downloaded OS monitor and didn't really see anything that uses a lot of CPU, except for certain files syncing from time to time (but 2-3% usage usually).
Checked with battery spy and apparently the majority of the time, the phone was hovering around 200mhz 70% of the time and not deep sleep.
It's sad to have only 1.5 hours of display time with a battery of 45% left (7 hours total time)...coming from an Iphone 3gs, this is just unacceptable. I almost flashed to the 2.3.5 firmware but noticed it's NOT compatible with ATT's version of SG2.
I see people who have a total time of 2 days AND a screen time with 3 hours with 30% battery left. I wish I can get half that!
Running on 2.3.4, can't be the infamous drainage bug right? Thought that only happens with the 2.3.3s
Wifi on, application sync on, GPS off, brightness at 25%, using live wallpaper (the windmill). No active apps on. Downloaded aim, epocrates, battery monitor, cpu spy, and os monitor..rest of the apps are stock.
Update
According to my CPU spy
For the past hour that the phone was in idle
2:20mins at 1200mhz
4:52mins at 1000mhz
8:33 at 800mhz
1:28 at 500mhz
10:11 at 200mhz
33:36 in deep sleep
Currently Android CPU usage is @ 97%, display time of 7mins(2%)
2h 30mins since last charge (97% charge)..current power is 79%. Did nothing but idling and checking battery life.
So...that's 30 mins out of the hour in which my idling cellphone was hacking the pentagon....
Also the cellphone is a tiny bit warm to the touch (not cold)
I have 35% battery life remaining and have been unplugged for nearly 11 hours. This is significantly better than what I was getting with a Thunderbolt on Verizon, where I was needing to charge after about six hours of use. 11 hours and 35% remaining isn't the best in the world, but it's only been two days. The phone needs a few days to charge and discharge to determine true battery stats and will probably get better.
Being that this is your first Android battery life will not seem great but let it settle in for a few days it should get better.

If you only got the phone yesterday, its way to early to make any judgments on battery life. Battery needs at least 3-5 days to settle in and build consistent battery stats.
Also, what are you settings? Auto Brightness, Bluetooth, GPS, auto syn(exchange emal, gmail, facebook, etc). If your not using these, they should be OFF. It's easy to manually refresh email, etc.
I've seen some people reporting very high Android OS(over 50%) but still getting solid battery life.
I'm at 1hr display time, heavy texting. 72% left, been unplugged for 12hrs
no people what this guy is talking about is the android os bug. i have it too. hopefully an upgrade or different rom will fix it. my phone has been unplugged 11 hours with only 1 1/2 hour display but android os has ran for 52 minutes and now im at 32% battery life. once this bug gets worked out the battery life will be amazing.
I don't think that there is an android OS bug. My android OS shows as being 42% with 13hrs of moderate use and I am still at 67% battery remaining. This is by far the best battery use I have ever experienced on an android device! My cappy would not even come close to this performance and this is on stock ROM and kernel.

I'm very happy with mine, this was the first total drain on a new battery so I know it will only get better.
Total time: 18hr 25min
Display time: 4hr 48min
I think it's the system os, not the hardware. There were a few times when the battery didn't discharge itself at 7%/hour (had it idle for 3 hours and it went down like 2%).
And yes, everything is turned off except the sync app data and wifi. There's no option to turn off 4g btw. It's just weird how sometimes it's in this mode of power drainage, and then sometimes it doesn't drain much..but most of the time, it's draining.
I seriously doubt the phone can only run 2.5 hours worth of heavy usage or 12 hours of standby (it should last days!). If this is "normal" for android, then maybe I should have a visit back to att and exchange for an iphone (and I really don't to!)

I agree - as I said in the Android OS drain thread, even in "good" situations, Android OS displays way high on our systems. I think it's a reporting bug.
I dropped 2% in 5.5 hours completely idle (sitting on my shelf) last night - Android OS was at over 60%. It seems that so far for me, the higher it is, the better my battery life is.
I drop around 15-20% in 9 hours of being mostly idle at my desk at work - it's a weak-signal location so the radio eats much more battery.
One thing is that unlike first-generation GalaxyS devices and interim ones like the Infuse, the GS2 has a coulomb-counter type of battery gauge. This type of gauge sometimes needs to be calibrated with multiple charge/discharge cycles or it will misreport battery state of charge. (However, when calibrated, it's much more accurate.)
Edit: I do have some power management tweaks in the kernel I'm running, but they don't make that much off a difference except in some high-drain corner cases in my experience. I'll be releasing it sometime later this week depending on how well these antibiotics do their job.
Do i need to install a battery app to see the percentage? or we have a way?
Install this app:

If you see "DataTracker-FD" or "Fast Dormancy" as the top wake lock, go into dialer
dial *#*#9900#*#*
disable Fast Dormancy (FD).
By default, the Samsung Galaxy S II has Fast Dormancy support enabled. One of the goals of Fast Dormancy is to increase the battery life of a device, by limiting the amount of signaling between the phone and the cell network. But, when Fast Dormancy it is not enabled in the network and is enabled on the phone it ironically works the other way around, and actually drains more battery than before.

That applies to the I9100.
As far as I can tell, the I777 has FD disabled by default. (This may change once I9100 ROM ports start showing up)
Okay, charged my battery to 97%(I got a beep saying it's fully charged). Idled for the past 2 hours and 22 mins. Battery is at 86%.
According to the battery, my screen account for 2%, and the android system accounts for 97%.
This is a stock phone guys, I have no apps installed!

I'm talking about live battery display. I installed no lock and have no lock screen to see how many % left.

Just search up "battery indicator" in the Market and you'll get a few to choose from.
I too got mine yesterday and started tinkering around with installing apps and such to test out all functions before I rooted it and move onto cm7 most likely. The 1 things I noticed was that the battery was NOT completely full when it was first turned on at the store so once it got a little lower after playing with it I charged it up overnight. Today the battery was WAY BETTER and was not dead yet. I have been using it NON STOP today, rebooting it, testing it, trying to root it, rebooting some more, some time using tango to test it out, watched a Netflix movie, pretty much taking full advantage of it all day. I finally decided to charge it up and use my Captivate a bit. I didn't keep track of usage and times today but I KNOW it lasted a WAY LONGER time with all I was doing with it than my Cappy. Tomorrow I will check more out possibly before putting on a rom.
So LOOOONNNNGGGG STORY short make sure you charge it up once you get it before messing with it too much and then it will LAST LONGER.

After two nights of completely draining then recharging the battery to full, the battery has gotten significantly better. I'm trying to drain it again before I go to bed tonight but I don't think I'll make it.
I played the entirety of Toy Story 3 on max brightness, and only burned 20% of the battery!
I have a stock SGS2 with a lot of widgets running. I use BetterBatteryStats and have removed the high power usage apps.
Past few days, the phone uses a lot of battery at night. Yesterday it had 32% battery and when i woke up it was dead.
Are the rest of you also seeing this much battery consumption every night ?
Funnily enough I've had exactly the same issue since about a week ago. Even when I take it off charge it's almost immediately down to around 80%. It's lasting around 4-5 hours, even when I'm not using the phone much, plus it gets really hot.
A couple of times Social Hub has appeared high up on the list of battery draining apps, although I don't use it. It doesn't always show up though. I switched to the CF-Root kernel and started using GO Launcher EX recently and wondered if that (or one of it's addon widgets) could be the cause.
It's really bugging me now!
I gave up with the stock S2. Rooted it and flashed MIUI to it along with the Siyah Kernel. Now it uses only 6% for the whole night. Battery usage is so much better now.
People having issues with battery should try the siyah kernel and change governors (unless some app was draining your battery)
yeah, actually some new users will experience battery problem. however, some says that when time goes by, the problem eventually sorted out itself.
i am guessing the phone need "warm up time"
I had the same problem with stock rom. you have to remove the preinstalled useless samsung apps. then battery consumption is better.
i am now on cm7. everything is working and around 8% per night with a lot of background processes (tasker, lbe, scheduled titanium backup).
Don't always turn on wifi or data unless necessary.Turn off background sync. This should help a lot even u r using stock rom.Kill tasks with built-in task manager.Make sure useless apps are not running in background.
With these tips,my s2 with rooted stock rom and stock kernel only consumed 3% of battery all night .
i keep wifi or gprs on for instant messaging needs. The Siyah kernel and the lulz governor give amazing battery life because process runs at lower clocks instead of jumping to 1200 unnecessarily.
The stock kernels aren't too bad in my experience.
I think you will find your battery drain will be caused by rogue apps before the kernel.
Edit: why have this phone if your going to turn off gsm and data etc. May aswel turn the phone right off and have zero drain overnight.
A drain of 1-3% per hour with everything turned on is normal for me.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
I've read at the development section that almost everyone else has better battery efficiency than I've got.
I'm using the stock rom atm which came when I installed .62 firmware with flashtool. [ROM]Generic MT15i (Neo) 4.0.2.A.0.62 (1246-9107) (Android 2.3.4)
I have also rooted it with rootxperia.zip via recovery. And I have installed inteks v15 kernel with fastboot. Just did a overnight test and lost ~50% battery in 10 hours.
I turned wifi off for the nigth, also chose gsm preferred and disabled data. Should i run test in airplane mode also?
Battery usage shows me that Cell standby and Phone idle takes each like 45% out of the battery and display and fancy widgets takes the rest 10%. I have also noticed that in day-use when I actually use my phone, even if my brightness is set to min and I have turned off the Bravia engine, Display takes very big percent out of the battery, is this normal?
Any tips are really appreciated, I have bought a couple of spare batterys (from dealextreme like 6$ each) so I can almost live normal life with them.. Thanks!
You could try removing the calibration data for your battery, if it seems to get empty too quickly.
Having Cell Standby and Phone Idle roughly equal seems correct. Screen taking up a huge portion is mainly thanks to a rather large screen, which needs to be lit.
Actually just before my overnight test I removed batterystats.bin file with BatteryCalibration app I found from market.
Then let it go for a few cycles.
