Remember when the Evo 4G came out and how all of the screen separation, light leakage and other defects came with many of them? You guys think it's worth it to wait a while after the release date to get it? (to have a "perfect" phone)

I still have a first batch evo, got it release day. In fact My first batch EVO is the first Sprint phone besides my Sanyo M1 that I didn't need to have replaced in 10 years.
i would think that they had a checklist of mistakes not to make again. hope fully they did that.
No, there is a warranty. But if you'd rather wait...have fun!
The biggest issue had to do with how the screen was glued down and how the glue they originally either wasn't enough or eventually wore out.
Unfortunately, this is one of the problems with being an early adopter. But since it'll be covered by warranty, you'll be fine.
If you don't want to bother with the hassle, it's better to wait a month or two and then get it. More prudent that way.
I have 3 first batch 4g and none of them have had any build issues.
I think by now they have this form factor down..I'm not worried and like they said warranty
I had my first Evo since a week after the release date. If I wouldn't have dropped it 2-3 months ago and cracked the screen, it would still be running today with no issues.
I also had a release day evo...and the phone worked great, the only reason I swapped mine was due to a few dead pixels...it wasn't a huge deal but they kinda bugged me when I was browsing which I do alot of...nothing my warranty didn't fix quickly.

Exactly.
Tapa tapa tapa
Can't count the times I've dropped my day 1 Evo 4g... Never a problem and never a bit of protection for it aside from an invisishield.
If that's the quality of the 3D then I will be extremely happy.

my guess is they learned from the manufacturing issues they had with the EVO 4G. if not, then some people need to be fired and they need to revisit their procedures. but as with all manufactured items, there is always a chance of a defect.
my launch day (0002) EVO has treated me well, up until last month when i had to get the screen replaced due to unresponive area. new screen = no light leakage/seperation or that splotchy area that looks horrible (those who had it, know what i mean)
I had an original 002 from launch day, and the only issue I had with it was it developing white spots over time. Just two weeks ago, I had it swapped (only because they didn't have that screen type in stock), but like others have said, don't be afraid because you do have warranty, and also I would suggest getting insurance for most smart phones these days since they're so valuable.
Just pre-ordered mine from WireFly ($179.99). I'm upgrading from the Hero, so I can't really speak for any of those problems, but the people I know who got the Evo 4G when it was released didn't have any problems at all.
I've had mine since launch day and she is going strong I'm glad for that because the sprint store will trade this bad boy in which make the E3d $50 life is good
HTC Evo running CM7
I just now found something that looks like an little hair under mine screen off mine HTC Evo 3D. Its first time I spotted it.
I almost don't see it and I also don't think this falls under warranty and maybe it will just go away after awhile. But I got no idea how it got there. Anyway I wouldn't want to send it away under warranty if it even falls under warranty.
Anyone else saw something like this with there Evo 3D? I just found out this doesn't seem to be to strange. I got it almost in the left corner. If the dust get under the screen then it should somehow also go down in some time.
Take it to sprint because I'd be annoyed as hell looking at it. I love my EVO but the one thing I hate is when I see a ****ing hair stuck between. The bezel, sometimes its hard to pull out. Maybe that's how it got inside your phone

Well mine was bought in Germany in MediaMarkt. Its been 13 days ago that I bought it and just now when I was sitting outside and it was clear I could spot it and now I will be able find it to. I could go back, but I really don't want to have it go for warranty, I doubt if they give me another one. Btw I'm running an custom rom with sense 3.5, if I go back should I not flash an stock rom?
But when screen is on then I can not see it.
Didn't you know...? Debris under the screen is an HTC exclusive design trademark.
Well I knew that between the chinks there will become dirt between, that I just now als got.
But there is nothing I can do against it. But the dirt between the chink above the HTC logo I just removed very careful by using and double edge blade as those blades are very tiny, so it fits between the chink and I was able to remove it without damage the phone. But that dirt was obvious from some food, but in future it will happen again anyway and now it was just an small part, if it was more then I wouldnt take the risk to remove it.
Mine HTC Desire HD had also had dirt in the chicks, but it didn't disturb me.
I read online many HTC's have this dust problem. I guess no phone brand is perfect, even Apple not. Anyway it will not really disturb me if its just an small one which I can't see. I can only see it if I focus on it.

That's a bummer
Yes I think i'm going go back to the mediamarkt in germany today.
So they can switch it for me. But I don't know if they will do that.
I think its unacceptable that there is an dust part under mine screen and its just two weeks old so I don't wanna wait on warranty and they should just give me a new one.
Its clearly visibible this dust part and is about 1mm long. I'm also going ask € 20 back, they lowered the price with € 20, so going get that back to. I will flash an stock rom on it. If I keep 3.5 on it they can see I'm using custom firmware. Anyway I'm going try to switch it for a new one and get that € 20 back.
If they don't wanna switch it then I got to live with it as turning it in for warranty is to much.

I went back to MediaMark germany and after a long talk they keep saying no we don't give you an new one and only thing they could do is send it to HTC.
And that I didnt want. So now either sell it or live with it. I can almost not see the dust.

Says the con artist who doesnt want to keep the phone due to dust and hair under the screen, but is selling it on as new.
Sent from my HTC EVO 3D X515m
Dude i'm not selling it as new but as new state and that is an big difference. And no one off you knows if I tell the buyer or not. I already answered a question off someone on XDA who asked if this was the one with the little hair in it. Also I'm still awaiting answer from HTC I mailed them about this problem.
And I said yes and showed him a picture.
Btw is this an common issue with the Evo 3D about dust getting under the screen? I found about 4 to 6 threads about it on internet. I think I would like to keep the Evo 3D btw as I like the device and an HTC One X would cost € 270 more.
Not trolling, but that other thread was genuinely funny.
my wife dropped her HTC Evo 3D and cracked the screen, she has Insurance so i jumped onto Asurion.com and was going through the Process, i know at times they offer the EpicTouch4G as a replacement, but they were offering her a HTCEVO-Standard, is this the Older HTC Evo 4G? the one she upgraded from a year ago to the Evo 3D, and now they are trying to give it to her as a replacement for the 3D, i understand you get something of equal , but i really consider that a DOWNGRADE, i know it couldnt be the HTC Evo LTE, seems like it would of said something like HTCEVO-LTE or something along that, i could be wrong, anyone know for sure what the HTCEVO-standard is? am i correct at thinking its the HTC EVO 4G?
I'm pretty sure it's the Evo 4G. Call and get something better. Ask for a SG2

I called them and it was the old HTC EVO 4g and not the EVO 4g LTE , I told them I was not going to give them $100 to go back to a 4G, I explained that only a year ago I had the HTC EVO 4g and paid $200 to upgrade to the EVO 3d, now I have to pay $100 to get a 4g back again, so $300 and 2 years later I have the phone I started out on, the EVO 4g, I told her I was not happy and wasn't doing it, she insisted they were comparable and that's all she could offer, or I could wait 5 days for their stock of EVO 3d's to come in and they would ship me one and I would get it within 2 days of when they come in, again I wasn't happy, having to wait 7+ days for my wife to have a working phone, so I asked to speak to her manager, she put me on hold and I guess switched me over to a manager which then I explained to her my situation, she put me on hold so she could check their inventory of phones, she then came back and said she could offer me the Samsung galaxy s2 which I gladly accepted, I also got this as a replacement for my 3d, I just wonder how many people actually accept the EVO 4g as a replacement for their broken 3d?

Sorry, bad explanation, I hit the power button to turn the screen on and off until I get it to respond. It usually makes it through the ring lock, but then its either unresponsive or acts like there's pressure. Sometimes the capacitive buttons may not work either (actually more like a majority of the time). It happens a lot, like maybe 10-20% of the time I want to use the phone, seems to be getting worse. Maybe I better deal with it before I get locked out...
I'm a little leery of Samsung after my Moment debacle, but I can't deny that the Transform was alright and my wife's Intercept did do the job well. It seems they've made strides for sure.

the extend batteries and accessory options are better and cheaper as well.
and if it wasnt bad enough the Epic 4g Touch has the better and faster chipset than the TMO S2.

Yes, you should get a Galaxy S2 replacement!
Asurion replaced my Evo3D with a GS2 on June 5. It wasn't a refurb, it was brand new. The GS2 was the only choice I had, and I was really upset until I received it. I loved my Evo3D! I miss the 3d and the Sense UI. :crying:
I'm really happy with the Galaxy S2 now tho, especially the USB storage.
I wouldn't have taken the Evo4G, either -- that's b.s! Good luck to the people with future 3d accidents! Insist on the GS2 and don't accept less!
(I had dropped the Evo3D on the street getting out of my car, in Texas, in 105°! I didn't notice for 30 minutes, and it cooked the bottom buttons, (home-menu etc.)

Samsung/Sprint borked the shat out of the ICS update for this phone, ppl are saying they think it's deliberate so we'll just go out & buy the S3 lol, but since kernel source was released too, we now have a source built kernel for CM9 & we're about to be official, this is definitely the best time to own a E4GT!

But I'll still be around, and if anybody needs help with their 3D, I'll help all I can.

It's unfortunate that your phone is dead, and imho even worse that they gave you a Crapsung product. Why the change? Are they completely done with the 3d? I thought they would have at least given you the EVO LTE.

Hi. I have a RELOCKED HTC EVO 3D with ghost touching, so warranty is voided. I want to repair it myself (repair at the service costs almost as a new phone). Now the question is: do I have to change the LCD, too? I found touchscreen and I think that's OK to replace and repair the ghosting effect, but I need some opinions. Thank you!
Your warranty is not gone! Unlock again and s-off with juopnutbear (wire trick),it is fairly easy, then after getting s-off, run the ruu, and run the flag to turn s-on. It will say locked, and there will be no traces of rooting.

That is what I also want to know. It started registering ghost touches about 8 months ago until today when they become so frequent to the faze that i cant use it anymore. Replacement of the digitizer is imminent. I saw this on ebay http://item.mobileweb.ebay.co.uk/viewitem?itemId=271089461688. What did the trick for you?
I'm sorry to hear that. I sold that phone a while ago, after sending it in service and got my warranty voided (was RELOCKED).
I had two phones, the one I sold and another one I still have. This second one manifested ghost touch recently, but now I knew how to make it LOCKED, so was no problem for the service to repair it. In one month I sent the phone to warrany twice. My screen was replaced first time, then the screen again + battery. Waiting for the 3rd time.
It's my first HTC phone and I'm so dissapointed...
Anyway, that digitizer won't work for you. Digitizer and display are glued together, so you'll need to find digitizer+display, which cost a lot more.

You find what you need here http://www.shopmania.ro/accesorii-pentru-telefoane-mobile/p-touchscreen-htc-evo-3d-38505032, here http://www.okazii.ro/cautare/htc+evo+3d/display-lcd-telefoane.html.
You don't need to change display, only touchscreen. Touchscreen is your problem. I changed one, my self.
I have not found any GSM service that want to change only digitizer. Even HTC authorized service told me that I have to buy digitizer + display + speaker (for the 1st phone with the voided warranty), saying that they are in one piece.
Anyway, thanks for the info

Change it at your home, not in Service, only touchscreen. It's working.
I don't need to change it now because the phone with the voided warranty is sold and the one I have now it's OK for service in terms of warranty They already changed the touchscreen+display twice and battery once. I think they lose money with this phone
SOLVED
I think I've got a solution for ghost touches...I'm going to post it tonight if everything runs smooth just to be sure it does indeed fix my ghost touches...stay tuned

Ok so after 24 hours of testing I got ghost touches only 2 times.anyway my phone used to have ghost touches every like 2 min...
Solution: search for "pimp my rom" in the market.(it requires root access btw)
After you install it go to tweaks->touch screen and display and set min. Velocity to 2500 and max velocity to 4500. For your phone the values may differ.so feel free to test other values till you get the best results. Also max events per sec should be at 60. After ur done just apply your settings.top left check Mark.
If this didn't work it could be a hardware issue.but for me it did the trick.I still get some ghost touches so they are not gone forever but its way better now.
Hope this helps peeps.

Ghost touching is caused by a defective digitizer... They are not hard to replace... You just need a heatgun/blowdrier and mini screwdriver (comes with digitizer) and patience... I've replaced the digitizer on my girlfriend's Rezound and ghost touching went away 100%... Took about 30 minutes. Plenty of videos on YouTube showing how the process works. This isn't something to pay someone else to do, you can easily figure it out yourself. Just be careful with the digitizer. They're super thing and will break if you put too much pressure on them.
