About ICS Update - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a P7500 with Overcome v2.3.1 installed, and I want to install the Stock ICS rom from this topic.
What is the better way to install it? Can I just flash it over my current rom with recovery? Or do I have to flash it with Odin? If possible, post a link with the better procedure.
Thanks!

Just flash it in recovery.
Make sure to wipe completely. Such as cache, dalvick, factory reset.
The typical procedures when installing a new ROM.
Installation Instructions
Download ROM and put on SD Card (Obvious but it must be said)
Boot into CWM Recovery and perform a FULL WIPE!!! (Wipe data factory reset, wipe cache, and then wipe dalvik cache!!!)
IMPORTANT!!! YOU MUST PERFORM THE WIPE PROCESS BEFORE FLASHING THIS ROM!!!
Flash ROM
Reboot!!! Done!!!

[Q] fullwipe need of tutorial

i'm looking for well explained tutorial on doing a fullwipe before flashing new rom.
thanks...
What phone and firmware do you have and what rom do you want to flash to it ?
before you flash it, make sure you do a backup of course in case anything goes wrong.
i believe you just need to wipe data, cache, and dalvik cache
Depending on your phone, there are many ways to do a full wipe. You can do it manually in recovery, you could flash Calkulin's format all, or you could flash Virus Rom's superwipe (which is basically calkulin's format all flashed 3 times)
Thanks, I'm using 1.3 leedroid
Flashed withuot a fullwipe

Goin goin from 2.3.3 to 2.3.4 rom

I have a quick question. I'm in Joelz 2.3.3 at the moment but I've been wanting to try a 2.3.4 rom. So i've been wondering, when flashing to one. What all do I have to update and how? I believe change the name to PGsomethin and let it update through hboot? Then do I delete it or keep it on the card? And when flashing back to an 2.3.3 Rom will everything be okay?

Rom's come in a zip format. Boot into recovery (use the 4 in 1 or an app such as quick boot) once in recovery wipe cache and davlik cache at a minimum. You may need to do a full wipe of data, cache and davlik. Or you can use a tool like superwipe which reformats boot, system, cache, and data partitions. Usually a wipe of cache and davlik works as long as the ROMS have a similar base. Once that is done select flash zip from sd card, then select the zip of the rom you want. Then flash that sucker. when it is done it will tell you, then go back a couple menus and reboot. Presto you're done. The first boot after a davlik and cache wipe may take a while so be patient.
Once you are done you can delete the zip from the sd card.
If you are going from 2.3.3 to 2.3.4 you may want to flash the radios from 2.3.4. the ROM thread should have this info if required or recommended.
Going back to 2.3.3 is just as easy just put the 2.3.3 ROM on the card and flash that in the same manner.
Word of advice is to always make a nandroid backup, its under backup then usually choosing the boot, data, and system partitions will suffice. This way if you do something that totally borks the phone you can volume down and power to get to recovery then restore the nandroid and you are right back where you started no harm no foul.
Good luck. Also if you check the wiki's most of this info is in there if you need more detailed instructions.
Thanks

[Q] CM7 first install

I wan't to install CM7 and I read this instructions:
_________________________________
Instructions:
First time flashing CyanogenMod 7 to the Samsung Galaxy S II, or coming from another ROM?
Root the device and install ClockworkMod Recovery. Instructions are available here.
Perform a NANDroid backup of your current ROM.
Format the system, data & cache partitions of your device.
Perform a factory reset.
Flash CyanogenMod.
Optional: Install the Google Apps addon package.
______________________________
I don't get the "Format the system"... and "Perform a factory reset" part
this means to do a cache, data and dalvik? and THEN perform the flash?
thx
If only there was a thread for this kind of thing already. Why did you feel the need to create a new thread, when you're quoting the one you should be posting in anyway?
It also says flash this build only if you know what you are doing. You might want to heed the warning.
Anyway, it means do a full wipe of your system, i.e. factory reset from within ClockworkMod Recovery.

Yiiikes

Omg omg omg.. pleeeease someone help me.. I tired flashing a rom (phone already rooted and using cwm 5) for the fifth time and it's now stuck in startup on android (in white letters). I wiped system cache dalvik but nothing... what else could I try?
Which ROM are you using?
Try flashing again, and remember to read the instructions very carefully.
Wipe data/factory reset, wipe the cache (although that should be done when you factory reset) and the dalvik cache.
If it still fails, restore your previous backup (you did make one right? It's, like, almost necessary to backup your current ROM with CWM before doing anything, even if it's just wiping the dalvik cache. It's ESPECIALLY necessary to do one before flashing a ROM).
If all else fails, flash a new firmware using ODIN.
Thanks for the quick reply but I managed to fix it already.. I am awesome *big smiles*
You are awesome. Great job.

General steps before flashing a new ROM.
1. Backup your present ROM just incase
1. Wipe data/ factory reset
2. Wipe cache partition
3. Wipe dalvik cache (under advanced)
4. Format /system (under mount)
5. Flash your desired Rom/zips
6. Fix permissions (under advanced)
Notes:
- If you are moving from from an AOSP ROM to Samsung (vice versa), perform all the steps above.
- If you are upgrading / downgrading from one android version to another e.g ICS to jellybean or 4.0.3 to 4.0.4, also perform all the steps above.
- If you are upgrading from a Samsung ROM to another wipe the same android version, you may skip step 1.
- if you are upgrading your Aosp/aokp Rom with another with the same android version e.g 4.0.4 Aosp to 4.0.4 aokp, you may also skip step 1.
*******Important******
If you are presently running a Samsung based 4.0.4 Rom that is using Samsung based kernel e.g CF-ROOT or stock kernel, please flash Siyah kernel before performing any of the above steps. You will end up with an unusable device if you don't adhere to this important information.

Based on the bold, you're in a bootloop. Try to wipe data/ factory reset, clear cache and dalvic in cwm recovery and it should work
Edit: and are you following the steps on the first post of the thread? The creator of the rom usually has step by step instructions on how to install the rom
