Hi all, I've been running DZK's CM10 ROM for a few days now, and I've been very happy with it so far, apart from a lot of force closes on JB optimized apps and issues making calls. I don't know why, but my phone will only make calls when connected to my car's Bluetooth system. When I try to use just the handset, I get force closes, reboots, and garbled or poor connections. Is there any way I can fix this, or any information I can give to DZK so he can?

one word, logcat. for me to explain it would take too long just search for it and it should come up
I appreciate you sending me in the right direction, but I'm sure it'd be a lot faster for you to point me in the right direction then send me off searching. I just tried a program off this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1747544 thread, and it contained a trojan. I don't really know what I'm doing here.

You learn by doing. He said logcat, he didn't link you to an alleged Trojan. You should poke around, I'm more than positive you can find one that is supported on our device and is safe.

I'd be more than happy to learn by doing, but I don't even know what I'm looking for. I'm not looking for someone to walk me through it, just to point me in the right direction.
I've spent two hours on this already, and frankly, I don't care that much about this to spend much more time on it. I came here trying to help out because DZK wanted people to give him bug reports. But this isn't worth spending half a day on.
Oh, and if anyone is interested: I don't have the calling issues when I'm plugged into a power source.
Did you flash the bluesleep fix? People have reported that might be the cause of phone call crashing.
And in the future, if you ever need to do a logcat for the devs, follow this:

I didn't flash bluesleep, thanks for your help though. Unfortunately my CM10 build crapped out on me during the day before I got a chance to run the logcat, hopefully alpha 2 will fix the problem anyway.

Seasoned Samsung Vibrant users,
I just got today Sept 30th my Samsung Vibrant, I hope that this GPS problem that I have it's just SOFTWARE and not HARDWARE problem and you may tell me with your experience / suggestions what this is about.
Before the Samsung Vibrant, I was using a HTC Mytouch 3g slide, the GPS on my slide has been very accurate, what I can tell you is that from my bedroom My slide detects properly my home address using Google maps, with Samsung Vibrant usually gives me an innacurate location using Google Maps as well.
I have turned ON the wireless and the GPS on Samsung Vibrant as I did the same with my htc slide and on Samsung Vibrant gives me around 40 to 50 meters difference with a wrong location,
I don't want to use WIFI because it’s not the case, why on my HTC Mytouch 3g slide I don't need WIFI also I won’t have WIFI everywhere where I go, so I want that the Samsung vibrant works at least the same or better than a HTC phone GPS hardware.
so my question Is that a hardware problem or software issue?
My HTC Mytouch 3g slide never fails where I'm in my bedroom or other place where I go and test it and this Samsung is getting me out of my nerves that isn't accurate at all.
HARDWARE or SOFTWARE problem?
If it is software I will wait, but if it is hardware, I’ll be very disappointed.
Thanks I really appreciate your answer about this issue,
I have 14 days to test it and if I'm not happy with it I can return it depending what this problem is.
OMG please use the search function.
It IS a software issue... vibrant is well knows for its gps to be messed up.. the new 2.2 is coming out in approx a month and it will have a gps fix and also make ur phone faster plus alot of other things

I have been trying to refrain from jumping on people for stupid posts, BUT ...
The gps issue has been an issue with the Vibrant since day one, and there are most likely hundreds of threads on it already ....
I know it is a little scary but that search box does not bite ...
Hell a google search of "Samsung Vibrant GPS" should tell you all you need to know ..
Come on people use some common sense and search first, at least pretend to search for the sanity of the rest of us ...

ROTFLMAO! Too True!
Oh no, my Vibrant might be messed up????
Really??
Welcome to the real world!
Been bad since day one.
Wow, everyone is being kinda douchy here. All you have to do is root your phone with one of the many methods, install clockwork recovery and flash either the JI2 GPS fix or this one which is the same thing but uses the JI5 files instead http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=796654 Good luck.

Douchy? Douchy , not sure what that means but I am sure it applies to ones who do not search or, fail to see that this question/answer is in about 100 other threads.
NO problem helping people, but you can really only help those who help themselves ...

No i agree with you. I dont think I ever post questions here. I usually use my friend google and figure it out myself HOWEVER I also remember when i first got my very first android phone "G1" and was soooo lost at where to even begin. To the OP... they are right, you can find most anything by searching. I guess I only said that because some people just get plain rude. Not necessarily talking about you watcher64. Your post wasnt bad, just didn't really give any answer.

No offense taken , I just remember the old days of the forum, where this was a place to come learn, not to have the answers handed to you.
Seems everyone is looking for the quick fix these days, and really do not want to learn what they are doing or HOW it is actually done, then yell and scream at the people who help them that they broke their phone ...
EDIT:
Just to clarify I was on here almost 2 years before I asked more than a handful of questions, because 99% of the answers could be found by reading and searching, so it does get annoying that so many people want spoon fed these days.
It took you longer to write about your problems than it takes to search .

If none work, then may be time to exchange the phone for a new one ...

There is a big difference between not knowing, and "NOT EVEN TRYING", that is the biggest complaint ...
How do you think most of us here got the knowledge we do have, we looked it up, if you work a little for something, you will tend to remember it in the future...
This is a place for Development, and Education , not hand outs, never has been, and should never be taken as so ....
But I digress, you are right why should anybody here give a damn ....
OH because if nobody gave a damn, the people that get ask the questions would not know the answer either ....
No you speak the truth ppl should research, I had an off day when I posted sry if I sounded like a jerk. I do plenty of research on my own b4 doing anything to my phone, and if I brick it I have no one else to blame but myself. For example I have been researching the whole flashing with odin on my spare time, which isn't much still haven't got comfortable enough to try though. I just felt like the guy was getting slapped around a bit too much that's all.

On my original Droid...when on a call using bluetooth, I could still play games on my phone (wifi or normal) and do text messages. On this phone, it will turn the screen off after a few seconds. Adryn has said it's the proximity sensor...yet I'm no where near it. The screen is set to timeout at 2 minutes, yet it barely makes it 20 seconds before shutting off, even if I'm actively using the screen. Has anyone else come across this? Anyone know of a fix?
Ouch. 98 views...and no one has the same issue? You can work on your phone while being on a call?
Is my phone the speshul one that just won't keep the screen on when I'm actually doing something on the screen?
Are you running stock or what? I've no issues
I've also got my screen timeout set for 2 minutes, yet intermittently, it will shut down the screen in the middle of texting, browsing, etc. I have to wake it and unlock it to continue with what I'm doing. Seems to happen more frequently since the Froyo OTA.
Again, posting you have an issue without giving specs on what you're running is pointless and a waste of forum space.
ugh...I had edited the message with my specs, but somehow forgot to save, I guess.
I'm running stock VZW Fascinate. OTA Froyo.

I'm running ComRom1.3, with Nitro's Honeycomb theme. Haven't made any changes to the kernel speeds or anything.
And was it really necessary to be rude? A simple question is quite polite, but your response was just...dickish. Criticizing someone for wasting forum space is also a waste of forum space. Wouldn't you agree?

No I don't agree, because next time you will be much more clear. I don't know any psychics that frequent the forum. So if you want information on a situation that isn't already a thread...be clear. Why do you think none of the other senior members posted? They don't want to have to keep coming back to a thread for an issue that isn't really specified.
In any case, since you've not tampered with the kernel I would suggest you wipe and reflash. I was running the same setup but with 1.2
Because they had more class than you. You should seek help for your LDS...seriously.
The forums are here to help. Since not all of us are "experts" as you would probably claim...a simple courteous question would be great. You don't have to remove all doubt that you're an ass by criticizing others. It's easier to keep your mouth shut instead of proving you're a ****.

GOOD DAY!
Hey guys, I'm new here, but I've been leeching off the wealth and amalgam of smartphone "hacking" information here since I first got my HTC Incredible.
I've moved on to a Samsung Fascinate, and I've regretted it since. But because I cannot go back, I'm stuck with this heaping pile of techo-anxiety.
Anyway, my point is, the 2.3.5 Android update murdered my GPS.
Since no one actually calls me, my phone is my computer-away-from-my-computer. 80% of my phone's worth to me is google maps. Now, after the update, the google maps doesn't work!
I've scoured the internet for help, but all I can find is very outdated information on how to fix the GPS when on 2.1 or 2.2. I can't even get to the LBS testing mode because the dialer codes don't work.
GPS Aids doesn't work, either.
CAN ANYONE HELP ME, PLEASE?! D=
I WILL LOVE YOU FOREVER! (Or, at least until I forget about you in about a day--hey, at least I'm honest, but I will be truly thankful--and so will everyone else who's been shafted up the butt by Verizon or Samsung.)
Tell you what, though, I will never buy another Samsung product again. EVERY Samsung product I've ever owned has failed on me--some even multiple times. Why can't my people make anything right? (yeah, I'm Korean)
Edit: Furthermore, I can't seem to root it since 2.3.5. Superoneclick just freezes.
Go to the general section find my guide that says how to flash a rom/cwm recovery/root/ or go back to stock and follow section 4. Basically you will be reflashing 2.3.5. The ota update has been causing folks alot of issues. My guide will get u back in business!
Then follow section 5 to root!
Thank you, sir... I love you...
Section 4 did the trick, and my GPS works beautifully well.
I will also give Section 5 a try soon to root my device!
Once more, thanks!

My guide in the general section has everything you need as already posted lol...If the guide is not noob friendly enough for you then, A) you need to do alot of research, or B) you shouldnt even consider flashing a rom as a brick may be around the corner.
I must STRONGLY disagree with your assumption concerning the Fascinate. Now that you are on the well guided path to flashing roms and such, you will discover this device is an EXCELLENT one

Gps died
A few weeks ago my gps stopped getting a lock. I am stock 2.3.5 on a fascinate. I only understand some of the very basic lingo around here, like i get what OTA is, but have no idea what Odin is. I really need my gps to work. I didnt do anything new that could be linked to its recent failure. While I was driving over the weekend, a few times the navigation got a lock for a while after up to twenty minutes of searching, but mostly it gets no lock anymore. I have used gps status and the first time it worked after I downloaded assistance data and reset cached data, but since that first success it has stopped working and I have not been able to repeat any success with the gps status.
So, I am willing to try flashing various roms and such, but maybe I need even more basic info before I try to follow the aforementioned guides, since I don't know what any of that stuff is that is referred to in the guides. Where do I start, can it be fixed?
I have wanted to visit these forums forever, but with kids and life and such, have not had the opportunity to educate myself on these types of things. I think you guys are awesome.

Dude, hang in there. I don't know hardly anything at all. I've found by using the search that it almost always has been asked. I will say that the X2 forum rules! Ok i rooted my phone and unlocked it as well. I rooted only for the purpose of only getting a .08 to .3 KBps data speed in an area the is supposed to have been overhauled. I have had the damn phone replaced three times with no results. I have replaced the modem to the best one which still only gives me at best 1.66MBps. Well now when I use the hotspot.......only computer can connect!!!!! NONE OF MY OTHER 12 COMPUTERS CAN CONNECT AT ALL.....AND WHEN IT DOES IT DOES NOT GET AN IP ADDRESS AND WHEN I TRY TO TURN OFF THE HOTSPOT AND BACK ON I GET AN ERROR!!!!! I go into airplane mode and and then turn it off and I am able to connect but only this one damn computer!!!!! how in the hell can I fix this!!!!! PS. PLEASE DO NOT TELL ME TO SEARCH FOR THIS PROBLEM....BECAUSE I HAVE ALREADY DONE THIS AND I HAVE COME UP WITH NOTHING BUT BULL****!!!! I WANT HONEST ANSWERS TO THIS PROBLEM!!!!!!! THANKS SO MUCH!!

I'd hardly call what you posted detailed.
If you have CWM then you were already rooted. What method did you use to install CWM? What "best" modem did you install? What ROM are you using? What method did you use to unlock? Where did you look? What searches have you done? I can go on an on with the questions......
I think it best to speak in a softer/nicer tone especially when asking for help. There are a lot of people here that are more than willing to help those that have a genuine interest in learning.

8. When you turn off the Hotspot it give you a message "ERROR"
9. In order to get reconnected I have to turn on airplane modes and then off and then the first computer can connect again.
I am just sooooo upset with this ****!!!!! Been fighting AT&T for 5 months with no results. And even with all the modems I have tried I get no more speed then at most times of .3 to .7kbps!!! I can't even download all the original files to restore completely to stock because I am getting about an 80% packet loss!!!!! And the download always fails anywhere from 50 to 70% I am so frustrated with this I am about to take a sledge hammer to this phone and tell AT&T to stick their network where the sun don't shine!!!

I DID THAT!!!!! I do not know what more you want me to explain!!!!
1. Rooted my phone using ODIN with the ClockworkMod-Recovery_5.0.2.3
2. Installed Superuser-3.0.7
3. Unlocked my phone with Galaxy S Unlock", the author is "Helroz"
4. After this I get the triangle and Samsung Galaxy S II I9100 on the splash screen.

K, i'm going to bite my tongue for a bit and try to help you. But you really are sounding like a demanding vulgar little child. So please tone it down and sound grateful so some smarter people might be tempted to help you solve your issue.
What ROM are you using? What security protocol are you using? I'm going to assume you're using Windows 7 on all your machines.... What are you setting as your network location? Home? Work? Public?
Have you already tried the basics.... wiping cache, wiping davlik, fix permission? Have you done a factory reset?

Just to start out.......I am not a demanding vulgar little child..........STOP WITH THE BS........I Happen to be a CCDE (Cisco Certified Design Expert) I know what I am doing and have the basic knowledge of phones!!!! I did all the basic stuff. I am very tired I have been dealing AT&T for months, I have been on this forum for days!!!! And I work 16 to 18 hours a day!!!!! And all I want is to be able to connect more then one computer on my hotspot....THAT IS ALL!!!! I AM COMPLETELY EXHAUSTED DEALING WITH THIS PROBLEM!!!!! And I may have sounded vulgar starting this post.....but I want to lay the thread out properly by saying........I am not a noobie, I don't want post saying did you search......did you do the basics.....I already did that!!!!!
Now for the questions to your answer.....I have not changed the rom....it is the stock rom.
2. I turned off all security at this point to make sure that was not the problem.
3. All my computers are running xp as I would never put windows 7 on my machine.
And as for network location I have know idea what you mean by that.......as I have changed NOTHING except installed CWM and the unlock program. I also flashed the phone with all the modems to see what gave me the best speed which was the UCLC2.
4. I restored the efs folder and relocked the phone. Still have the same problem.
5. I just flashed the kernel back to stock and it is still doing the same problem!!
*poppin some extra buttery Orville Redenbacher*
In all seriousness, you gave more detail in the second post than the first. Even though you said you had already started "everything necessary"...
Clay
PS - you managed to anger one of the most helpful people on this forum: creepy. You are soon to anger brokkanik and he's in that same category. Im pretty sure you need to reevaluate your approach or you will receive no help whatsoever. I hope you get this problem resolved soon.

**looks up at the site name**
nope, not the AT&T HELP DESK, nor is it the XDA-HELPDESK....
where are you paying for OUR services that gives you the right to yell at everyone?
you are doing absolutely no good for your case here.

And? So you're good at taking tests. Does that garner you a certain level of respect? My 9yr old can set up a network. I could care less if you're exhausted in dealing with this issue. You're demanding answers. You're not asking for help. If you already claim to know the tone of this forum why all the high and mighty "oh look at me! I'm a CCDE. I know how to configure IP's better than anyone that didn't take the test to become a CCDE. Bow down, answer my questions or GTFO!"?

THANKS ALL YOU FOR YOUR HELP!!!!!! JUST WHAT I THOUGHT A BUNCH OF PEOPLE OF HAVE NOTHING BETTER TO DO BUT....BE THE PROBLEM!!!! I TOLD YOU ALL I AM NOT A NOOBIE.....AND NOT ONE OF YOU SAID, "HEY I HAD THAT PROBLEM AND THIS IS WHAT I DID TO FIX IT" THAT IS EXCEPT THE ONE PERSON WHO UNDERSTOOD WHAT A WAS ASKING!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!! AND IT FIXED THE PROBLEM. AS FOR ALL YOU OTHER PEOPLE WHO DID EXACTLY WHAT I ASKED YOU TO NOT DO......... *&^$% OFF!!! OH AND A CCDE DOES NOT CONFIGURE JUST IP ADDRESSES.....I DESIGN WHOLE COMPLETE VoIP NETWORKS!!! oh and close this thread moderator!!
Again thank for the person who pm'd me and was a part of the solution instead of the other ones who had nothing to say but flame!!
dude. get the fkn chip off your shoulder.
you came in here yelling at people, nay, DEMANDING people help you, screaming at everyone even in your first post...
christ, man, what did you expect to get met with? champagne and crumpets?
grow up and learn how to be RESPECTFUL when asking VOLUNTEERS for help....just stop yelling at everyone and you will go a hell of a lot further and people wont troll your posts....
I'm logging in to the site via chrome just so I can report this thread.
Dude, do you have PE problems? Is that the reason for your need to type in caps? To tell people you are a "hot shot"¿ I don't care that you set up voip networks. I care that you are an asshole who types in caps, demands things like a 5yr old and throws around certificate like it's something we should all bow down to. Get over yourself. You may know a ton about networks,I may know a ton about micro architecture (I don't), but that means NOTHING here. Ask and you shall receive. Demand and you shall be flamed.
Anyway, awaiting penalties for this post and grabbing another beer.
Clay

get it right.....i came in here asking for help.........and not hearing people say......like i see on hundreds of threads on here to do a search.......and people should not do this or that.........i explicitly said NOT TO DO THIS!!!!!! I ONLY WANTED SOLUTIONS. AND NOT ONE OF YOU DID THAT!!!! YOU IMMEDIATELY WENT ON YOUR **** ABOUT WHAT PEOPLE SHOULD NOT DO....THIS IS NOT A HELP DESK.........THAT IS WHY PROBABLY NONE OF YOU WORK FOR A COMPANY LIKE CISCO!!! IF I WAS ON A CISCO FORUM AND SOMEBODY DID WHAT I DID......I OBVIOUSLY WOULD HAVE RECOGNIZED THAT THIS PERSON IS FRUSTRATED EXHAUSTED ALL OTHER AVENUES AND NEED HELP.
I SURE AS HELL WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ON MY HIGH SENIOR MEMBERS HORSE AND YOU ARE RUDE, YOU ARE VULGAR!!! iI WOULD HAVE SAID, "HOW CAN I HELP YOU AND SINCE YOU SAID, "DON'T ASK ME IF A SEARCHED THE FORUMS.....OR DID THE BASIC STUFF." I WOULD HAVE IMMEDIATELY SAID TO THE TECHNICAL STUFF NOT WHAT ANY OF YOU PEOPLE DID YOU JUST WENT STR8 TO COMPLAINING, WHINING, *****ING AND NOT ONE SINGLE ONE OF YOU DOVE IN AND WENT STR8 TO THE PROBLEM. SO YOU TELL ME WHO IS ON THEIR HIGH EFING HORSES??????
THIS IS WHY THERE ARE THREADS WITH 20, 30, 500 PAGES OF REPLIES!!!!! BECAUSE YOU ARE WORRIED TO THINK YOU ARE MOSTLY ALL KINGS AND RULERS OF THE THRONE!!!! GET OF YOUR PEDESTAL!!!!
NONE OF THIS CRAP HAPPENS ON CISCO'S FORUMS BECAUSE WE ARE ABOUT THE SOLUTION AND NOT ABOUT GIVING A RESPONSE THAT HAS NOTHING TO DO ABOUT THE SOLUTION!!!
SO SAY WHAT YOU WANT.........BUT THIS THREAD PROVES THAT!!!!!! MOST OF YOU THINK YOU ARE BETTER THEN ANYONE ELSE.....YOU ARE NOT!!!
AGAIN THANKS FOR THE PERSON THAT HELPED ME AND EVERYBODY ELSE I WILL NOT DIGNIFY YOUR BS REPLIES WITH ANYMORE REPLIES.
AND AGAIN THANKS..........YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE......IF I NEED ANY OTHER HELP I WILL PM YOU BACK.
