Hi All,
I have recently got a new Galaxy S2 on VF UK and when I try and connect it to the Kies application, I keep getting the error message;
Reconnect the devise in Samsung Kies (PC Studio) Mode.
Current connection mode is not supported by Kies.
I have tried using the debug mode and does not resolve the issue.
Anyone else having the issue?
Cheers,
Dave.
I butted heads with Kies over time too
Did you perhaps turn on the USB mode so that the phone acts like its some USB drive? As for Kies you just plug it in without setting any mode.
If not...
I would suggest, to uninstall, and then reinstall Kies. Best download the latest version if you are not sure you have that one.
After the install don't start Kies.
First connect the phone to the computer, you don't have to put it into any mode, just plug it in. Down in the bottom right corner there should pop up some message about drivers being installed/configured.
When you get the message that it was all okay you unplug the phone.
Then start up Kies.
Then again plug in the phone.
If all goes well it should then it should recognize the phone.
I usually ran into trouble when the usb driver for the phone was not installed correctly, and having Kies on and having having the driver being configured would often result for me in drivers that had errors.

Hi Mario387,
Thank you for your advise but I have tried what you have suggested and still having the same issue.
I don't think that I have set my devise to be a USB devise - how do I tell if I have it in the right mode?
Under the phoneutil the usb mode is PDA (*#7284#)
Any advise would be deeply appreciated
Cheers,
Dave.
try to turn off phone
take the battery off then put it back
reinstall kies
after installing kies connect usb wire at the main usb hub
then connect it to your phone
then turn it on.. hope it helps

hello people.
i was trying to flash the kernel from ics 4.0.4 . first i connected it to the computer to flash it from odin. the green thing that was supposed to show up in odin didnt show up. me being dumb, i clicked start on odin for the heck of it. on odin it said fail. on my player there was this weird symbol.
i tried taking out the bettery and then i waited a few seconds. then i turned it on and the same symbol was there. i also tried going into download mode but when i tried it just showed the weird symbol and then turned black and again and again. i also tried going in to recovery which also did the same kind of thing. (bootlooping) . so has anyone experienced this before.
device info:
samsung galaxy player 4.0 (usa version)
terrasilent kernel
rooted
running icyfusion.
any help would be apperciated!
Its basically the same thing as the Download Mode sign. Don't worry about the awkward symbol, just means you are in download mode

He said that it's the same as download mode. For your information this mode is a forced download mode which means that you need to flash something to get over it. In this case a new kernel.

Try these:
1. Be sure to have anything Kies related not running [as a process] in the background (Task Manager alt+ctrl+delete on your computer)
2. Restart your computer and try the same usb port again (Kies process closed again).
3. Try a different USB port.
4. Try a different usb cord (I have over 4 in my home due to phones).
5. Try a different computer (I have two in my home).
Flash your kernal again as this is usually the case the phone dash exclamation sign icon comes up, odin of course.

the "forced download mode" sign comes even when the player is not connected to the computer, but I will look at this.

Have you tried flashing back to stock? There is a guide in how to do it, don't do it the odin way - it's too unstable and unpredictable. Flash back to stock with heimdell. Click on my name and you should find my recent past posts (6 to 10 most recent) explaining how to flash back to stock with heimdell.

Thanks guys,
its been a while but my laptop DOEST NOT recognize my player when I plug it in my laptop. I uninstalled the drivers and when I try to install the drivers, I get error 10. KIES does not resolve the issue either. Any ideas how to make the laptop recognize the player?
By the way, I tried every USB port.

Hello, i have a problem connecting my Samsung Galaxy 5.0 Player to my computer and lap-top.
I tried everything that is possible..
Debugigng is turned off.
When i put usb cable into computer error shows.
I tried with Voluem down and Power buton, and it's shows "Downloading.." and "Do not turn off Targer!!!" and nothing happens..
I also tried evey usb port on my computer and lap-top, and always same error..
Is there any to fix this?
Are you sure you have the drivers working on the computer? The best check is to put the player in Kies mode and see in Kies can connect. Not sure what to try after that
i had this happen to me and all i did was turn ON usb debugging and it magically recognizes the device.
i ran into this problem after i updated kies.
also try removing kies and just keeping the usb drivers
Hi im trying to go back to stock firmware but my computer dont recognize my phone when it is in download mode i have the drivers installed and Samsung Kies and i have tried different cables and ports but it's not being recognized for some reason i need help
Try different USB port. And try to pull the battery out and drain all power by holding power key for a minute. Sometimes it helps expecially if u running 5.0 or higher

Did to check in device manager to see if it is not recognized?
It may be, but the driver isn't applied to the device
