Hi there, evening.
My Dell Streak, originally from O2 UK, it's now unlocked and running Dell latest retail Froyo rom, but the camera flash doesn't work at all.
I've tried with all O2 roms available, flashed each one of them in order, and finally the Dell retail one, but the flash won't come up with none of them, even if I turn it on in the camera options or clear the Camera EM cache in applications, recording video doesn't bring the flash either, and I've downloaded 4 different apps from the market to use the flash as a torch and none of them could bring the flash up.
So, I'm now assuming this is a hardware problem and the led needs to be replaced, but I can only find 1 website where I can buy a spare replacement, and although the actual led is cheap the delivery costs are immense, so I was wondering if anyone knew of any place I could get this part, I've looked online and cannot find any other, not even on eBay...
Thanks for the info/help
You can try here, look under spares.

Hi there,
Thanks for the link, but that's the site I was talking about, and the only one I could find...
Price for the spare is £5, but the delivery is £10 the part itself is tiny, it should be around £1 to send it, not £10.
I'll keep looking, and see if I can find anywhere else, but thanks anyway

Hey,
Done some searching and cant find anything - also posted in the Energy ROM thread... Anyway:
Before I upgraded my ROM to the Cookie Energy one, I had bought (yes, legal etc) CoPilot Live 8 for my HD2. Now, I never thought about it when I upgraded, but CoPilot came pre-installed on the phone when I first got it, but now it isn't there.
Just wondering is there anyway I can get it on this ROM so I dont waste my £30 I paid for it.
Cant seem to find a download anywhere ='(
Thanks!
Here you go mate...

Aha! Thank you very much
I have read so many threads on here that my head is spinning.
I seem to remember reading about a cable that can be purchased from Ebay for about £3 which zero`d the flash counter as well as fixing the phone if it seemed bricked. or am I dreaming and in fact I have just taken random words from various posts to make up a thread?
I received my SGS2 about a week ago from o2 but the screen keeps freezing during some games.
I also hotspot tether the phone to my laptop using the Three "All you can eat" One Plan. The tethering seems to drop/disengage randomly a couple of times an hour even though the tethering is still showing on the phone. I have to switch off the tethering and then back on again and it will be fine for a while but then drops out again. I have tried the sim in my Nexus One and the tethering works fine.
I phoned o2 who offered to refund me as the did not have a replacement SGS2 and could not say when they will have any more. After my insistance that I would like a replacement, a very helpful customer service rep spoke to his manager and offered me a doorstop swap replacement but said it might be 4 to 6 weeks before they have any stock!!!!
I have agreed to this as long as my 14 day exchange/refund is honoured from the date of the swap. O2 have sent me an email to confirm that they are happy with that.
Yeah, it's called a USB jig and can be purchased for 4 pounds off eBay, there's a thread on the development section called reset binary counter the link to the eBay page is in that thread (1st post I think). I hope that helps you
Thanks for that Matt, I have just ordered one.
PS great vids on youtube. I have been wanting to root my SGS2 but couldn't quite summon up the bottle, but your vids gave me the confidence.
Thanks again.

I'll make a video on how to use the USB jig when mine arrives as the one on the thread is awful. I'll try to get it done the day it comes but I have A Level exams for the next month(ish) so things are pretty hectic at the moment haha. Cheers for watching my videos BTW nice to know they're appreciated

Yeah, sounds good to have these videos, as I know the reset video is hard to watch unless you know what's going on, as the camera wasn't in macro.
You dont need jig unless you cannot access 3 button download mode or have flashed custom firmware and need to reset the counter.

If you are on O2 firmware do nothing though a factory reset will not invalidate warranty .
If you are on non O2 firmware i would find the O2 firmware on here and flash it back .

Okay, so, I just noticed today that my camera no longer works. It was working a few days ago, but, no... death. Did some skulking around XDA and other forums. I thought it MIGHT be caused by something going wrong when I flashed Passion v6.5... so, I reflashed Passion v4 (it used to work fine), nothing. ODIN back to stock... nothing. Are there any other tips out there besides the obvious, and fatal, hardware issue? It would be a ton of help. Thanks.
Try using a differnt camera. There is one in the market today for .10cents
Camera ZOOM FX
For a dime it might provide a solution to your needs or an enlightenment that it may in fact be a hardware issue.
Exactly how is the camera not working? F/c? Doesn't open..etc.? When you flashed did you factory reset, clear cache and data? Have you tried using a camera app?
Same thing happened to me a while back, tried replacing the camera, still didn't work. I:
/notaproblemwithicspassion.
Stuff I've tried;
- I had two Vibrants, tried replacing it. (Worked for a little, then same error.)
- Mounting and unmounting it.
- Flash back to stock, update camera.
- Different camera apps.
- CM7/MIUI/ICS/FROYO
Unfortunately there is not a lot of options. If you can find someonw with a bricked vibrant you could offer to buy the camera. If you get o replacement camera off ebay then more then likely your going to have some banding issues( lines thru your pictures). There is a website (mobiletechvideos.com) that sells replacement cameras that arent supposed to have banding issues. Ive never dealt with them, so I cant say for sure. Mine stopped workin a while back, kept saying "camera fail". I replaced it with one off ebay. It works but i have terrible banding in anything but bright light. There are some videos on you tube on how to replace the camera. Good luck!

So you bought one off ebay and it's working. (Sort of?)
Mind linking me to where you bought it?
I'll link later when I get to my pc. I just typed samsung vibrant replacement camera into ebay. After I replaced it it worked for a day then it's got the camera fail message. Then about 2weeks went by and it started working again. I have no idea why.

This purchased item information is no longer available.
There are a number of reasons why this information isn't available. The most common reason is that item details for purchases are not kept for more than 90 days.
Hm.. heh.
For those asking, when the camera is opened, all it says is 'Warning: Camera Failed'. I've come to the conclusion that it's a software issue somewhere. After starting this thread, the camera came back to life a few hours later. After flashing a new ROM, same thing. I'm going to see if I can isolate a fix.
I have to bang my camera on a hard surface like furniture or a rock and it works. Could be both.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Lolz, please stopping abusing your servant.
Maybe you guys should try to use titanium backup to clear the data and uninstall the camera apk. Then, odin back to stock. Be sure to wipe both caches and factory reset before flashing another rom.
Good luck

All I can say is unlucky. You have got a clone. The phone you have got is the firefly V5. Search for it on Antelife
I wouldn't blame fastcardtech too much just yet though as its possible (although unlikely) that because the look SO similar, they didn't realise the difference between them themselves and so accidentally sent you the wrong one.
I suggest you contact fastcardtech complaining about them sending you the wrong phone (it is false marketing after all which is illegal). If they don't offer you a refund or resend the right phone, I think you could possible file a paypal complaint or something to get you money back (im not too sure about that though, ive never had to do one, i just know its possible)
By the way you wont be able to flash vowney roms as it is a completely different phone.

Be careful with the PayPal time limits for raising a dispute, you have 45 calendar days from payment date to raise a dispute , check it on their web site
Scammers
Hi there (i'm new here).
I am pretty sure they scam. I asked them they can confirm that they sent me the Vowney V5 and NOT the FireFly V5.
Answer:Thanks for your inquiry, we may confirm it, thanks
They don't know the difference between send and sent, but ok.
So normally the question and answer appears at the bottom of the product page, HOWEVER, they answered and removed my question.
My question now, what to do when i receive the Firefly V5? I really want the Vowney V5...
Im pretty sure i receive the phone within 45 days after my payment, but probably if i claim my money back, paypal wants me to sent back the item.
I have heard bad things about Fastcardtech and returned items....

Well they say that they pay the fees and the extra costs etc, but they don't do it.
I have also heard that they don't even send items back (=scam).
Anyway, the phone arrived in my country today, so probably i will get it today.
Let's see.

Hi, no i guess i get my package tomorrow, i expect the fake vowney "FireFly V5"....
Anyway i will post what i got tomorrow.
But has anyone a tip what to do if they sent me the fake vowney?
Since you haven't received your package yet, there's still a chance that you receive the real V5.
But if not, I am almost sure that FastCardTech will assume the error and accept the refund of your money (after you send back the cloned V5 and paying the shipment costs of your pocket of course!) or the sending you the REAL Vowney V5.
But you will have to be very pacience because it's gonna take some time of course!

I have spoken with 5 people now, they all got the FireFly.. Lets hope i will get the real one, but i have no confidence.
Also why should i pay the shipment costs if it is their mistake (i guess scam since they removed my question).

5 people allready? They all bought from FastCardTech?
I was thinking on buying one but from Merimobiles, now I'm a little bit scared.
Ialso think that you didn't have to pay for anything else, once it wasn't your fault but is most likely they will tell you to send the Firefly back to receive the refund!
Happy so far
I got mine two days ago from merimobiles.com. Everything's ok only minor issues that I haven't resolved yet. Flashing cwm was a bit tricky but worked in the end. Only thing not working yet is google calendar sync...

The camera works well? The screen has good quality? Video quality?
You haven bought the V5 with the root firmware installed? Or did you rooted it yourself and installed the room you want?

Are you going to keep that Firefly? You're not going to ask for your refund or the real Vowney?
Hve you made a full reset of your phone?
Because that problem of Google Play is a system error...
Otherwise, you will need to root your phone, install a recovery with flash tool and then enter recovery mode and reset phone.
Then you need to install a new ROM via Recovery Mode (voltar a fazer volume up + power - extract zip from sd - install - boot).
Solved some problems!
Hi guys! I took courage and flashed one of the vowney v5 Roms from needrom.com (without flashing the preloader, because i was scared to hard brick it) and it worked! when I boot it up it says Vowney and everything is good, except for the compass, but it's a problem that's not solved even for "real" vowney v5s. So I guess the factory is the same, vowney just puts a brand on it! anyway, you can go to v5zn.com and check latest updates with the help of google translator, or download roms on needrom... for me it's working!:good:
Never buy from FCT
I made a paypal dispute.
The case doesn't fit, the plastic which is attached before the camera (idk how to explain) is loose... and so on..

Just updated my dispute to a claim.
As i said the back shell is damaged and doesn't fit, the camera is loosen and so on.
They declined my dispute so...
I have no problem if i have to sent it back, but i want to be sure that i get my money back + no extra shipment costs...
Anyway, nice to hear you haven't problems with it
So just bought a new (or what's supposed to be new) E5823 Z5C from eBay.
Opened it last night to find that everything was in Chinese. (It didn't do the usual Google setup prompt)
Should I be worried? lol
It also came with an app called AAStocks.
(Of which had Chinese characters in the logo when launching)
Do Z5 Compacts usually come with this app?
I've since factory reset, and changed to English, and it seems to be an authentic phone (Do they even make knockoffs?) , but that AAStocks app is still there. (It seems to be deletable though.)
Probably going to flash with another ROM anyways if I keep it, but kind of curious what everyone's thoughts are or recommendations on what to do. It's on 5.1.1 at the moment.
Thanks!
Edit: Also, has anyone ever had little cosmetic defects when buying these phones? Also found a tiny little imperfection in the bezel. Makes me wonder if this thing wasn't briefly used and resealed or something...
I ordered mine from Amazon and it came from Taiwan. They get resold from all over, but the HW is all the same so you should be fine as long as it's in good condition.
Sounds like it was used however. It definitely should have gone through the setup prompt. You can "reset to factory" to be sure.
Thanks for the response.
By the way, does anyone know how I can find which region firmware it's running or where it came from originally?
I went and found my Customization Version, but I couldn't find any information on what particular region it was when I searched both on this forum and Google.
1298-7299_R9B is the number. (Couldn't find any info anywhere)
Currently on version (Build Number) 32.0.A.4.11
Edit: Crud. Can I delete a post here? Double posted instead of editing. plz don't hurt me. lol
1298-7299 is Hong Kong
You can check it on XperiFirm (program) or XperiCheck (website)
You could just flash the firmware from where you live. Then you'll get the Google/phone setup dialog for sure.
