OK, apparently I can't post in the development forums cuz I usually find my info via searches and don't need to post. I can't find an answer to my question or a solution, so I am posting here.
I have AOKP installed and then did Lazypanda. Well, now that Lazypanda ran it prompts Hands-free activation. The problem is I get the com.android.phone FC and that kills the activation, and I can't get it to run. *#*#4636#*#* works but I don't know if that will help me. I need a way to get Hands-Free Activation to run AFTER boot process is complete.
Mahalo in advance!
Flash a sense based rom for it to connect to the network. The force close at start up is normal for the cm based stuff.

I was hoping to avoid reflashing.
U know that to avoid issues like this u were supposed to use lazypanda s-off w/ a stock sense rom?
Just flash a sense rom and activate your phone man, c'mon.
Is there a choice to do activation from the settings menu? That would be the easiest choice
Or nandroid, and flash a sense rom. It will only take 10 minutes.
Edit: actually you probably need to end up on the phone with sprint after lazy panda so you need to be on a sense rom for the dialer codes to work properly. Even if your phone does hands free on aokp you probably still won't be able to make a call without their help.
Edit 2 : ninja ^^^

It says right on the first page that you need to be on the stock rom. End of story. Just follow the instructions that way you don't mess up your phone.
I know, I am being lazy.
You could have been done by now and back up and running
Bandwidth is on premium, until LTE is up, here at my place. Between all the games and video streams to the tv, < 3Mbps gets taken up fast. I have to wait until everyone is asleep before I can do any real downloads.
Mahalo for the help people! (Thanked all the critics!) :silly:
Just FYI, the ROM dl is going to take 2 Hours!!:crying:
That's lame, I always keep a stock rom on hand, ya never know when you will need it.

Unfortunately the search function on XDA isn't the easiest to use nor very helpful. I think it's cool though thejondude is offering his help.
At least through the app, the search is way too general and overall pretty crappy. Its frustrating to use for a new user like myself.

Thank you for this thread! I am rooted and have tried several roms and radios. My question is this: Is the check for updates function in phone settings a reliable way to determine if your phone is capable of receiving OTA updates? I noticed when I was on a leaked radio it would tell me that the update service was unavailable and to check back. When I returned to the stock radio it said there were no updates available. Tia!
P.S. I am currently on the stock rom and radio. I am aware that any official OTA updates may wipe my root and my ability to reroot.

In the past, if you did not have all of the bloatware, etc. that came on the phone (i.e. if you were not completely stock) you would have issues getting the OTA. Since you are back to stock, you should not have any issues, but I wouldn't necessarily say that "check for updates" is the best way to determine that. If you are completely stock, you will get the OTA, but I wouldn't say that check for updates is all that reliable if you have changed something.

I am completely stock with the exception of root at the moment. Just curious if I will be able to deny OTA updates or they will automatically update my phone. With the OG Droid I was asked if I wanted to update or not. I don't want to lose root with no going back. Thanks.
I would assume so (that you can deny). I jumped on the Droid train a bit later but have always been asked (when I was all stock) to update.

Got everything done in under 10 minutes. Process ran smooth and nothing really unexpected. The only snag I had was installing the superuser apk from the market, but I just used the fixed version I got on here and everything runs good now.
BTW...just restored my angry birds data using Titanium Backup. All those hours playing weren't wasted afterall!
I didn't have any issues but I do have a question, when I run ADB Shell from the command line I get $ instead of #, is there something I forgot to do or is this the normal state of this root method at this point? Root apps work, CWM recovery is installed, Superuser app is installed, can't seem to access anything or do much from the command line.

So I rooted my EVO 3D with unrEVOked, and I noticed some problems, so I went back to 100% complete stock. So after a couple of days, I started getting SMS errors and radio interfearances. Well I got it fixed a while ago, but it also lagged once in a while when I'm typing a message, sometimes scrolling through screens, when I make my phone go to sleep, it like sleeps then wakes up right away, but now it's been like around two weeks, and I've been having a little more lag when I'm typing a message, or making the phone go to sleep, so I have to keep restarting the phone to make it run smooth and fast. I updated the phone already, and idk if its the update or the root that messed up the phone, but if anyone knows HOW this happened, and how I can get rid of this lag, then PLEASE help me out, cause this lag is pissing me off. Thanks.

After you flash a recovery like twrp make sure you wipe everything including cache and the complete wipe of the phone before flashing any ROM, I think that's why your experiencing lag because you flashed over the stock ROM when you should of wiped everything before flashing.

Well, most people that first come here don't know what they are doing. I think what you meant to say is, if you don't even know where or how to find a guide on rooting and flashing then before attempting anything, there is one thing you should do first. READ!!!! Read the stickies in the dev forum. Read the links in the stickies in the dev forum. Use Google to find as much info on the internet as you can before attempting anything!!! Please, for your own good read as much as you can. We cannot hold your hand through it. You need to be able to do this on your own. Read until you become familiar with the terminology. Then if you still don't understand come back here and ask. If you do that we will understand your questions better and you will understand the answers better. We all started out knowing nothing about this. I read on these forums for 2 years before posting anything. I am by no means a professional, but I do understand how to search for and find the answers to my questions.
Hey all,
Just got a Rezound as a replacement for my Droid Charge. This is my first HTC phone since the Touch Pro 2. I was a regular visitor to the DC forums and tried every custom rom and hack you could find there. Coming to the Rezound and reading about the root methods and custom roms seems a bit daunting compared to the method for Samsung phones. I would really like to just start with Stock Rooted and was hoping that this all in one tool will help me achieve that: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1504824 Can someone confirm this for me. Also, do I need to have the supersu apk on my sdcard or will that tool provide it as well?
Also, will using CWM be okay (purely out of familiarity) once I start tinkering with custom roms and the such? Seems like there is another recovery more popular here.
Any video on someone flashing a custom rom on this phone from start to finish? That would help a lot.
So far I am loving this phone. HD screen is awesome, camera quality took a shot compared to my DC but I don't really care. Much needed boost in processor power finally allows me to play games I previously purchased but didn't have a strong enough phone to play.
I am looking forward to getting to learn more about this phone and participate in future discussions. Soon as I get a custom rom (maybe this weekend) up I will be in full force! Thanks for all of your help in advance.
When it comes to recoveries just use amon ra. Seems like to me there is a lot less problems with it. The all in one toolkit is awesome. It is were I started. Just read the tutorial that is with the all in one. That's all I did. I came from a droid.charge so I know the.difference between the two. I would recommend s off though. Not as scary as it sounds. And it frees your device. So much more u can do such as putting global capabilities to use.
Also a link for all in one soff tool kit. Makes flashing so much easier.

I may request your help as you will understand my point of reference. Yeah I am working up the nerve to S-Off soon. When I saw that wire I got a bit worried. I exclaimed "REALLY?!" when I saw the procedure. My wife thought something wrong happened. Cool, well I will read up on that and figure out which Kernel Rom combo I want. Is it similar to the DC where a rom will come with the kernel in a recovery flash package? I should figure it all soon enough. Just need to get the elections out of my hair.

Yes, if you are S-off, the kernel will usually flash along with the Rom. Just read the Dev's OP before flashing any Rom as they will indicate if you need to fastboot flash the boot.img or if they have a PH98IMG.zip to flash separately. Honestly though, I am considering resetting my security flag back to S-On and manually flashing kernels any way to prevent the risk of bricking the phone. Haven't decided yet.
As for the s-off method, don't even sweat it. just make sure you watch the video and do exactly what it does by touching the correct points with the wire and you'll get it. Not really that hard, might just have to try a few times.
So, welcome!! :highfive:

Good to see you here Shrike, I recognize your avatar and know that you have provided me with many helpful comments. Seeing you hear makes me feel better.
Had some more time with the camera and I formally retract my previous statement(s) about the camera. It handles indoor lighting and low lighting wayyyyy better than my charge. The charge gave nice pictures only in a well lit (sunlight) scene. What I like best is that it compensates pretty well for the flash. Things would look flushed out on shutter and appear clear in the image, vs the charge where the flash on close subjects just made white blobs.
Thanks for the warm reception everyone.

Don't use it. If you use CWM use the version found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1914215
Hi guys, I am very new to the Note 2. I just unlocked and rooted the latest ota using Casual. Thanks to Adam Outler and everyone else involved. So my question is which ROMs are compatible with this ota? Basic question I'm sure. I came from the Razr and the kernel had to match so I assume its the same here? Anyone willing to shed some light on this for me would be greatly appreciated.

Any rom you want as long as it is in the VZW Note 2 threads can be flashed ours arent locked down by what update we are on because our bootloader is unlocked where it isnt on Moto phones. AOSP roms require AOSP kernels as TW roms require TW kernels. The roms come with kernels though so that isnt something tk worry about unless you I want to.
The only thing to remember is if you go to a 4.2 rom and want t I go back to 4.1 you have to flash a downgrade zip so your SD card doesnt become corrupted. You can find the downgrade zip in the Official CM 10.1 thread in the OP.
Check out Droidstyles guide in Android Development, its a sticky, it explains quite a bit and would ne helpful to you I think.

Thanks for the info. Exactly the answers and info I was looking for. I just flashed CleanROM and went through the flashing process. When it got to the end and said finish to reboot it just turned off and wouldnt turn back on. Couldn't get to recovery or download mode. I had to pull the battery and then turn it on. It went straight to the new ROM though without a hitch. Is that a normal part of the flashing procedure on the N2? The battery pull I mean, or did I miss something?

Thats not a normal thing to happen, but it does happen occasionally. As long as it boots up after the battery pull I wouldnt be too worried by it. I have had it happen to me before and after the battery pull I experienced no issues whatsoever.

CleanROM's good. It was the first ROM I flashed when I got my Note II too.
Eventually though, you may want to switch to something more feature-rich like Jelly Beans, which is what I'm rocking now. The features it adds are pretty awesome and you get full touchwiz functionality (S-Pen and the like) with the look of AOSP.
DL'ing Jelly Beans now. Gotta make a new TiBu before flashing though. Will give it a go shortly. My wife fusses at me sometimes cause on my old phone (Razr) and on this one I am always flashing different ROMs. She especially hates it when she calls and my phone goes directly to voicemail cause I am in recovery flashing a ROM or kernel.

Hi all, I'm feeling like a n00b on the Note too, and really appreciate the help all of you seem to be willing to share with each other. I'm not new to modding phones, recently I've been through an S3, DNA, RAZR HD and M, and even another Note 2. I made the mistake of swapping the Note 2 for an iPhone 5, and regretted it about thirty seconds later. Now that's my wife's phone, and due to the grace of another (local) xda member, I'm back rockin' the Note 2. This time around in looking forward to getting into some serious flashing and tweaking to get the most from the hardware. I've decided this is Verizon's best phone at the moment, with everything I need.
Don't worry, you're not alone in having a wife who gets annoyed at flashing and tweaking. Happens to me all the time, but I use the excuse it's one of the few hobbies that I have which doesn't involve the rest of the family and I need a bit of alone time. It kind of works as an excuse until the point where I need to use it again.
I'm looking forward to being part of this community and wanted to say hello.
