So I know that to avoid the "secure element" issue with Google Wallet, it's best to reset it before flashing a new ROM. What about using a program such as Boot Manager to boot between different ROMs? I usually keep a stock rooted ROM on the phone, and use Boot Manager to store multiple ROMs on the SD card and boot into them for various purposes, like an AOSP to use Wii/PS3 controller for emulators.
Would booting between the two ROMs be ok as long as I don't install Wallet on the other ROMs, or would it still break it even if I didn't install Wallet on the other ROMs? Has anyone tried this, or have any insight? I'd like to be able to use Boot Manager to experiment with some of the other ROMs out there, but I don't want to break Wallet.
Secure element from wallet is no longer an iishe. Google fixed where the data goes
from my flying AOKP'd Evo LTE and xda premium
Can OP please confirm that theres no issues?
Secure element was used to store cc credentials and was verified with some sort of certificate. All sensitive information is now stored in wallet cloud servers, now it uses a virtual masterdcard and a unique key generated at the time of purchase. The key is used on a purchase and a new passkey is generated
Does Boot Manager work with the evo lye. I thought I read somewhere that it does not.

Me too! Looks like we will never get it as development has been abandoned.
Tried contacting them but never get a response. It's a shame too. Great app. Paid for it back in the day and can't use it anymore.

So I updated Maps yesterday and out of boredom clicked on the more apps by Google Inc link. Noticed that Google Wallet showed up, clicked on it and it says it's compatible with my phone. Downloaded and installed fine. Haven't tried opening and running it yet cause a) I'm rooted (know it won't run with root since update and b) even if I unrooted I read on xda somewhere that if Wallet doesn't find the secure element that it will show an error and will never work on the phone again.
I'm running stock rooted with cwm. The only things I've done to my Note are installed the nfc.zip, swapped the mms.apk to the international version and installed vvm.apk.

Same here, I noticed it in the market and installed as well. Running completely stock phone, just rooted.
im completly stock and it doesnt show up
Well when you run it it says hardware incompatible... You raised my hopes up for no reason...
It's the same with any other non nexus nfc capable phone. We do not have the secure element so it will not run. It's almost comical how many times this has to be said

The existing phones with secure elements are software. There has been talk about implemementing a software "patch" to enable it. We won't see that until att launches it's mobile payment system, Isis

From what i've read, Isis is going to be SIM based, so it won't be dependent on the NFC capability of phones. My assumption is that most NFC capable phones have the secure element, it's just not activated or accessible. The problem is, that the carriers are trying to monopolize the NFC system for payments, and any other 'hacked' way seems too risky in my mind.
Hopefully regulators will force carriers/manufacturers to allow other systems/apps to use the hardware, and we will end up with a somewhat 'open' environment for NFC. It all reminds me of the 'bluetooth' lockdown that Verizon implemented when it first came out on phones.
Sorry my intentions were not to get anyone else's hopes up but rather to see if anyone else had the same results. With both my Nexus and Skyrocket Wallet would show as not compatible on the store.
And I also knew about the secure element hence why I said I didn't try running it yet.

I don't think NFC will ever be implemented. People will develop malicious software that allows one to stand ass-to-ass in a bus or subway car and steal ppl's credit card chips lol
I really want to try Google wallet. In the ics leak the nfc option is in settings. So att has to be implementing it soon.

It will be enabled when apple puts it in the iphone. For now, an ics rom will enable it, but wallet still will not work.
Sent from a Seraphim ICS enhanced Galaxy Note.
I installed it. When I open google wallet, it says the following...
"Unfortunately, Google wallet has not yet ben certified in your country or on your device / carrier."
I really want to flash a few roms. I didn't get to try out but one Rom before the unsupported message became active. I feel kinda stuck until google changes something.
I'm sure others have refrained from flashing too to keep their secure element working, yea?
Wish I had cleared out my google information from wallet before this happened back around the 15th of the month wasn't it?
Sent from my EVO using xda app-developers app
Are you rooted? Because if you are, just do the google wallet fix to reset wallet, and you should be okay with flashing other ROMs.
Doesn't work. They blocked the fix.

Hi Community,
I was wondering if anyone has got Good Mobile enterprise email app to work successfully on a rooted device? I tried renaming Superuser but no go, when it tried configuring the device it says it will not run on a rooted phone... If someone has got it working please share.

Huh??
Are you asking if there is a good alternative email that works with Exchange?
If so, try Enhanced Email, works perfectly for the year + I have had it, also allows bypass of the PIN code.
Sent from my GT-P7510 using xda app-developers app
No not exchange, there is an app in the market called "Good" for connecting to an enterprise exchange server. Larger companies have started using this to replace Blackberry devices. They make an app for aOS & iOS.

You can hide the fact that your rooted threw different apps available on the play store. Try a few to see if they will help.
#Root-Hack_Mod*Always\=LTE
I never had an issue with Good and my rooted OG Evo but I don't use it on my LTE Evo.
I am currently running Good for Enterprise on my rooted LTE with no problems. Ran it on stock rooted, Meanrom, and now Tranquility without any problems. Never gave me an error or message about being rooted. I also ran it on my Evo 3d and Evo 0G.
I think it may only check for a rooted device if your company enables the check...The company I work for says on the policy doc that you are not allowed to access the company email with Good if you are rooted and it checks during authentication. I will try those apps on the play store that hide the root status and report back if they work. Thanks for the tips.

Thanks Laie! I found "Hide my root" and it hides the root binaries and temp removes superuser so I think that will work, the app has over 10k DLs and many 5 star ratings...I'm too excited been wanting to root this bad boy since I got it but couldn't because of this issue. I appreciate the idea don't know why I didn't think about that...there is an app for almost every thing these days!

Hi, so did Hide my root work? Don't want to root my Galaxy Nexus (Verizon) and start fresh then realize I can't access Good. I had it rooted a while back and my company definitely has that check enabled
I'd also like to know if OTA Rootkeeper or Hide My Root work for this. I have MobileIron coming down the pipe and would like a way to keep my custom ROM and remove root.

Why do u need to clear Google wallet when flashing roms and restoring back ups? And how do u clear it?
Sent from my Rooted, LazyPanda S-Off, White "Destroy Mode" Evo
Go into wallet setting to clear the app. It will reset the secure element chip. If u don't the secure element could think a flash is someone trying to hack it and it will destroy itself. NFC will work for tags and between phone but not for payments. To fix this you need to get a new phone or send it in for warranty repair.
Again clear data through the settings menu in the app before any data wipes!

Yes I too am also receiving the "unsupported device" message. It has to do with root access and super user. There is another thread where some users are saying that g wallet still functions properly. But I don't know if that has been proven or not.

I just installed the update. Although I am rooted, Wallet would run and show my $10. After the update, it tells me both my device and carrier are not yet supported!
Going to try clearing data and rebooting.

Rebooting didn't work.
Also, I updated the app on my Nexus 7 and I get the same message on that! Its not yet supported on my device. And yet wasn't the update partially for the Nexus 7?

There's an app in the app store to called "hide my root" that allows us to hide the binary so u can still use Google wallet. But it potentially removes your root somehow. Sometimes

I just tried to set mine up for the first time and I'm getting the same message. I'm not rooted but I do have mine on Verizon Prepaid...I thought maybe that had something to do with it but apparently not.
Resetting Google wallet doesn't guarantee you won't brick your NFC chip. Plenty of ppl have gotten the secure element warning after resetting/clearing. Also a good amount including myself have never reset or cleared wallet before flashing. Mine works fine so I'm never gonna touch wallet before flashing

It states it has NFC, but will it be able to use Google wallet. I know Verizon doesn't want users to have or use Google wallet, however haven't seen anything addressing this. It it will be able to do Google wallet, this WILL be my next phone.

it been asked in a couple of threads, and currently you can download the google wallet app, but when you try to use it it pops up with an error about it not being supported your device or mobile network

hopefully the wonderful devs can get it to work, since currently that pops up right after you try to launch the app. it doesnt even go into the app
No verizon does not support google wallet. Currently sprint is only one with google voice and wallet. I have the evo lte and yeah i do have wallet but the damn thing is a pain in the azz to deal with if you flash alot. You have to flash it seperately and wipe it clean after every flash and reset it up everytime. Everytime you flash a rom you will have to reset up card info name addy etc. I quit using it isnt worth the time or hassle.

I dunno though i get the same unsupported message with my evo on sprint being rooted. Not many places take it anyhow and it really doesnt save much time. Ive found that many places there end is messed up. This is definately something that is something that makes no difference to me if it has it or not. I have it and dont think ive used it in over a month.

But that alone means nothing. Wallet is still is not supported on Verizon and it is sounding like we'll need a modified version to side-load for Wallet to work.
Yeah, I tried to install it from the play store. It opens then tells me the device/network is not supported and quits. Such a shame. F'in Verizon...
