Hello, thx for developing!
I have a problem, my phone does force close a lot, I don't know what's going on...
I've been coming from MIUI and I've wiped and formatted and then installed CM 9.1 FXP 140.
When on 140 it's been fc-ing on me, so I did an upgrade, after wiping and formatting again, to 141 but the problem is still there...
Can anyone help me please?
1. flash Advanced stock kernel
2. wipe everything(also the SDCARD)
3. wipe dalvik cache
4. install CM 9.1
5. RESTART
6. LEAVE IT TO BOOT like for 2-3 minutes .
Thanks for your answer!
Trying now...
Feedback in a while!
before you are trying a reflash and complete wipe you can try in CWM to fix permissions and wipe dalvik + cache.
If thats not helping i would also just reflash and do a full wipe.
Still the same problem...
Any other ideas for me to try?
Trying once more, now following this guide here
Hope this will work, I don't think it's different from the way I tried before, but who knows...
One more time...
I now decided to flash the latest stock (LT26i_6.1.A.2.50_1257-5499_WORLD) and then (cause stock isn't as nice as CM or MIUI) the same routine as yesterday, hoping this time it will work as hoped for.
Will let you know!
Not much progress, still having force closes...
I don't know what to do anymore.
Asked in the development thread... hoping someone overthere knows the answer...
THX for reading and thinking!

As you all know, before installing new rom we we have to wipe data and cache in recovery...
But do we have also to wipe dalvik's cache?
As you read on every ROM thread, it is advisable to do a CLEAN wipe meaning all of it before installing a different rom. I personally don't find any difference between wiping and not wiping.
When upgrading CyanogenMOD nightlies wiping is pointless, and a waste of time. When switching between Sense-based ROMs and CM etc. then a full wipe is recommended, but not always needed. Wiping dalvik cache will never hurt
Just a thought here, but isn't DC in /data ? So if you wipe data you wipe DC as well, no?
I've been flashing Mdj Droid L2.1.110210 rom but the only thing I am seeing is the HTC screen for over 10 minutes. Is there anybody helps me to solve this issue? I am newbie so I cannot post in Mdj Droid L2.1.110210 topic.
Thank
I always wipe because it cleans the dust. As GrammarFreak said, when switching between CM nightlies, it is pointless as of the minor changes that come with them. But switching to an entirely new ROM (like stock -> CM) I thin it is better to wipe everything. The cause: Android DO collect junk, and a clean system is always nice.
Regarding contact, sms and other app data: backup to phone and cloud, simple as hell.
thanks for the advice. so if you flash anew rom, do u lose all ur apps every time? i'm flashing ics on my g2 alpha 8 right now. so i will find out soon enough

In my experience (using a HTC Desire HD) you only lose your apps and settings when you perform a full-wipe before flashing a new rom. When you update your rom without wiping, your settings and apps are not removed. However, I personally like to do a full-wipe before flashing a rom, because it clears out al the dust and gives you a fresh new phone.
If you don't want to lose your apps and data, but you do want to wipe, you can offcourse always use Titanium Backup to make a backup of the apps and data.
Just do it! It's free (costs only a slightly longer startup the first time after you wipe dalvik)!

in my experience, this happens when you dont clear the cache prior to updating the rom. in my case, I had to re-apx mine, since I didnt figure this out until I had tried the factory rom. good thing I had the SBK and CPUid, or it would have been even a more painful experience!
Hello,
I was wondering if someone could help me out. I checked the forums although I cannot find an answer.
Been trying to switch roms and get this issue with every rom, that my phone won't find the baseband. So I crash the server and it works, but I get the error phone stopped working unexpectedly. So I found that this problem only occurs when my sd card is inserted. If I remove it the rom picks up signal.and no crashes.
So I tried a different card, same issue, I format the card, same issue, etc...
Is there any fix? any help would be much appreciated
Thank you.

Try a clean flash and install. Reflash the latest FW, root and install XRecovery. Then make sure you do a full wipe, wipe cache, dalvik and battery stats before installing the ROM. That usually gets rid of all those odd little bugs. You can also unmount your SD card without physically removing it but hopefully the clean install will clear up your troubles.

If I (or anyone for that matter!) help you, dont be afraid to press THANKS!
Ok, I got that before going straight to a Froyo custom rom, try a EWJET 2.1 custom ROM first and see if you still have that problem. I did that and didnt have problem moving up but I went back again to 2.1 for other reasons.

Thank you for responding. I gave that a shot, well i tried in two methods.. i downloaded for xrecovery a clean rooted, xrecovery installed of the stock rom.. then followed the steps and got the same issue.. so i thought to do a full factory wipe using sony's tool, went back to stock rom, rooted, xrecovery installed, etc.. flashed the rom, same issue.. i tried this with several roms and cannot seem to bypass this error.. it almost seems like its just me due to limited info in the forums...
i guess i'll keep trying, thank you for your help.

I gave this a try, downloaded the latest EWJET 2.1, everything worked fine on that rom, no crashes, etc.. so i tried flashing several roms thereafter, without success..
could it have anything to do with being on a locked bootloader?
So I have seen quite a few threads about installing ICS but I have yet to see anyone install it over MIUI. Is there a suggested method for this?
I couldnt get it to install over MIUI, it kept throwing me an error, I restored to cm7 and it flashed fine
Thanks for the reply, I don't have a backup of cm7 as the wifi never worked for me on it. Is there really any reason to goto cm7 first?
To answer my own question I guess I could run a Titanium Backup restore of MIUI on CM7 then upgrade... So that should be one benefit

I installed cm9 over miui. Did wipe dalvic, wipe cache, wipe data/factory reset, installed from sdcard. Worked fine.
Note - I hadn't done a lot in miui, so I didn't mind wiping and reinstalling apps.
Good luck and have fun.

Thanks for the reply not sure doing a wipe then fresh install really counts as installing over miui but good to know it worked out if it comes to that... I am still on the fence about installing alpha 0.5 as I am really happy with how I have miui setup at the moment...
I'm a huge MIUI fan and have been running it on my Mytouch 4G for a couple months now. I put it on my HP Touchpad and couldn't stand it after a couple days. It was just way too buggy. I installed ICS a few nights ago and it is running beyond what I expected! You could try both and back them up then switch back to the other if you don't like one.

What I meant was, I was running miui. It was my 1st android install.
When cm9 alpha0 came out, I installed it as I said by cwm wipe; then flashed cm9.
I like cm9 a lot better than miui. Feels more like a real tablet app. Please don't ask me to define that .
I am currently running the CM9 4/8/12 nightly. It was the first ROM that I have installed so far since getting my TP less than a week ago. I wanted to try the 4/12 nightly and just had a quick question before I do so.
I am using cell phone ROM flashing logic here, so please correct me if I'm wrong. Do I just need to download the latest CM9 nightly zip, put it on the root of my TP and just flash the zip through CWM? Of course I would clear cache and dalvik first. That's how I would do it with my phone but I just want to make sure that it's the same with the TP before I bork something.
Thanks!
I went from CM9 to AOKP. It was my first ROM switch. All I did was clear cache/dalvik and did a factory reset. I wanted to do a factory reset just to be safe. I dont know how it acts yet when you just clear cache. But the way I did it worked just fine.

You are right... just download the latest nightly zip to your internal sdcard and flash away... wiping Cache and Dalvik in the process... nothing really different here as compared to the methods you used on your phones.
Thanks fellas!
Today I flashed KA12 Rom, and GPS has stopped working correctly, it's imposible to get a lock, even after several minutes of waiting. I've searched the recent posts but nobody seems to have this problems. Any suggestions to fix this? Maybe wipe all/reflash? Any ideas are welcome .
Btw, previously I was on stock firmware 6.1.A.0.452, and I used ICSv14 kernel to flash the rom. I had to reflash the SSpeed Kernel after flashing the rom because wifi didn't work.
Well I ended up flashing the rom (KA12) again and no luck. Using gpsstatus, I restored a-gps data but no luck either. The app shows that it detects a lot of satelites, but it just can't get a lock, sometime it does for some seconds but then nothing. I suppose I'll just try to flash another rom to see what happens. Still, any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks.
Ok, I fixed the problem. Just in case anybody wants to know, here's what i did. Had to wipe everything using DoomKernel, then flash ICS Kernel, and finally, flash stock firmware again. Only that did the trick. I'll give KA12 a second try, hopefully I don't get the problem again .
Did you wipe dalvik Cache and cache after installng the Rom. And after the rom flash Again the kernel. That normaly fixes all probs
Yes, I tried everything. As I said, only wiping everything and flashing stock rom again fixed it. Anyway, GPS is working ok now, thanks anyway.
