[Q] How to customize a stock ROM? - Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, Pro

Hi friends. I would like to know how could I customize the Sony's stock ROM. I found a post where is explained how to make a kitchen one, but I see it very difficult. I just want to remove bloatware, put the AOSP UI (status bar and icons if possible) and put widgets in the expanded statusbar. And also make it prerooted (not needed if custom kernel is used right?).
I want everything else stock from Sony. I don't like ROMs like AOKP, Paranoid, MIUI... they are very "heavy" and have many features that I don't need, don't work or drain the battery. Just a Sony's ROM with AOSP essence and fast and smooth.
Thank you.

Aokp is heavy lol
Stock around 150/200 meg
Aokp under 100 meg
So if u say so !
All info is hear do some search try themes and apps
Many people will ask !
Serious people search !
kitchen will not work on ICS only gingerbread

Well, English is not my native language and is hard to me explain some things. I meant that those roms don't seem polished works, and sometimes they are kind of difficult to use day by day because of their faults or bugs.

[Q] Should I stay or should I go?

Hey guys!
I'm using CM7 for a quite long time (2 months lol) and I noticed that the battery drains quite fast (doesn't last a day).
The ROM I'm using I've made, for myself, but it is pretty much the same of all barebones CM7 ROM, based on vo-1's. Deodexed and stuff.
I was thinking: would I get better battery life by using a stock ROM or not? The only thing that I really use in CM is Theme Chooser, (pretty much) all other things don't matter to me.
Also, there is some way to theme a stock ROM using as basis an CM7 theme?
Another thing that matters to me: CM7 is faster than stock, isn't it?
So, what should I do?
For me, battery life and performance is better on stock.

From what I've tried cm roms are faster than stock (try playing games on both, cm plays them smoother).
Stock roms can be themed, just not as complete as cm roms, if you extract the png files in the cm apps (/res/drawable-mdpi) and replace them in stock apps you have themed your stock rom.
This takes a while, and if you change the png names or size of your stock png files you will get Fc and errors (like missing graphics on menus).
Just remember to backup original apps before modding.
There are no stock rom theme choosers.

Well, no matter what I decide, I need a quick option: what's the best Stock ROM? It needs to have Brazilian portuguese, I can't live only with Portugal portuguese. I guess that there isn't any European ROM that has this, right? I was thinking on that Indian firmware, S5830DDKQ8... Nice choice or not?

by normal portuguese you mean pt-br and pt-pt? or only pt-pt? about the ram, delete some apps via Root Explorer or something.
Nothing else, people?

Max 614mhz

[Q] Can't find the rom for me.. help needed.

Okay.. i know u ppl don't like the "what rom is best" and "what rom should i choose" topic.. but i can't seem to find a rom that im satisfied with. Ive tried these: MIUI V4 and GB, CM9 RC1, SlimICS, Paranoidandroid and Stock XWLPD... I allways end up using the Stock one.. but i think its boring.. what i use now u can see in my sig.
What i want is suggestions to what Rom u think would be great for me if these topics are the things i like!
1. I like the stock battery icons, i hate the circle mod ppl are using
2. I love to listen to music
3. I like to customize my stuff alot..
4. I want the battery to last good (like 1 day atleast)
5. I Love the SG3 look, i want a 100% rom but.. u know its not that easy, but something that has SGS 3 lockscreen would be nice..
6. I love taking pictures, so something that the camera works perfect
7. I like having choices, and the posibility to do stuff like: center clock, change the battery icon etc.
8. My quadrant score on stock is 4,192(without tweaking anything)... so anything that is fast/smooth and stable would be nice
Do your best i will try every rom u suggest
Try a bunch of roms out until you find one that has the things you want. No excuse for you not to given how easy it is to flash roms/kernels, backup & restore in CWM. Mods will be closing this soon.
Regardless, this still boils down to you asking for people to tell you what to like. That never works out well since that is such a subjective question. It is up to you to decide what you like.
If no ROMs you've tried out there are to your liking, then stay stock, rooted, use JKay Mods so you can tweak to your own liking.

Touchwiz Vs AOKP based roms?

Ive been messing around with root privileges for a while now, an think its nearly time to flash a new rom to get rid of all the crappy bloatware that comes preinstalled, and just generally get a few more features
What features will i lose if i chose to flash an AOKP rom rather than a modified touchwiz rom? i dont want to be losing NFC, Wifi Direct, Quick toggles or anything like that really if i can help it
Is there any benefit to an AOKP rom other than its an unaltered android experience?
Thanks

From my experience AOKP roms are usually noticeably faster to switch between apps, to launch apps, multitask, and the home button lag is almost inexistent so they are really quick doing most of the stuff, there is a NFC fix somewhere around here in XDA I think most of the fixes you can find them on the Paranoid Android rom or the Super Nexus rom. On the other side... With the sammy roms you get all the cool extra features AND the camera! That they really come in handy most of the time!
Touchwiz is a ... Samsung ROM (sammy) launcher , AOKP is a ROM series based on CM anyway we've got and above description is more then enough . You better visit those threads to complete your doubts instead opening a new thread . AOKP = android open kang project

[Q] Why should I move to CyanogenMod?

It seems like most of the users don't like touchwiz roms, everybody has an opinion about it and I am curious. Why should I and why shouldn't I move to the stock Android? Can anybody tell me the pluses and minuses of stock android?
Pluses:
CM, vanilla android, fast and beautiful
Minuses:
Unfixable bugs. Occasional glitchyness.

Also, people say it's more customizable, do they mean themes or mods? I couldn't find much customization for stock, where should I look?

even touchwiz roms are customizable with jkay settings. but aosp or aokp roms do not have all the samsung stock features like s-voice and like so that they are very lite and are very fast. camera has some issues on aosp and aokp roms unlike stock sammy. you can find customizations in thems section. http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1567 :good:

[XPU] Stock Or Rom?

I've Been Flashing Roms For A While, From ICS To JB 4.3.
I Like the Broad Amount Of Features And Customization Of Roms, Yet I Really Need Something That Will Work.
The 1st Rom That Did Work In The JB Side Of Things Was @bibhu059 's Complete JB Experience, Fast, No Annoying Blur At The Bottom Of The Screen In SD Video Watching For Youtube (I'm A Big Watcher Of Youtube Videos By The Way) And Sonys Stock Being Something I Like..
Then I Went Back To CyanogenMod With 10.2 By @DroidModderXtreme. Its A Good Experience And If I Decide To Go To Stock, Id Wait For A Stable Version Or Another Flavour Of 4.3 With His ParanoidAndroid Coming Soon.
So Basically I Need A Good User Interface Experience (I Hated Sonys JB), Fast And Smooth, And Fully Working Functions, Yet I'd Like To Be Able To Use A Custom Launcher (Being Action Launcher Pro As It Lets You Use Icon Packs And Has A Good Interface). Also, If I Were To Go Back To Stock, Id Still Be Rooting And Maybe Getting CWM..
What Do You Guys Think, Stock W/Root Or A Custom Rom. If You Think Custom Roms Are Better, Any Recommendations? Thanks.
(Also, Sorry For Weird Layout Its How I Like To Type, Also Use Shift For Every Word So I Have An Uppercase In Every Word)
