[Q] S2 Odin Problem - HAVE SEARCHED - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Before anyone blasts me... I have tried searching I spent 45mins going through pages and pages of S2 questions and I cannot find anything that directly links me to my problem. I don't mind being called a noob if there is anyone out there that can help. I will send love!
S2 turned on this morning and wouldn't boot. Just hung at Samsung screen. Put into dowload mode, started flashing and during factory's.img I went to the toilet tripping over and pulling cord from phone and computer whilst flashing.... Heaps smart..
Now phone will not boot in any mode, not recognised any computer, have tried several batteries... Am I screwed???
Thanks for time in advance!

Do you remember you kernel and Rom ? If yes post it.

Sorry yeh forgot to mention that. Is a white Hong Kong phone. I was flashing the stock 4.0.4 rom for Hong Kong which I got from Sammobile.com. I beleive the phone only ever had stock firmware used as the binary count was still none when I first put into download mode.
Thanks

If you do wipe data/ factory and cache so you brick your phone with official recovery...
I think if that was really 4.0.4...

may be an 'USB Jig' will aid u in putting ur phone back into Dwnld Mode ma8
check the link below for a list of members who own an 'USB Jig', may be u find one nearest to ur place, if not then u can buy one on e-bay for a very cheap price though
Find an USB Jig Near ur place.
if the same doesnt help then u can try visiting the nearest Samsung Service Center

Thanks mate, I have just purchased one off eBay for the hell of it, hopefully it will get in going again but not hopeful.. SUrely it would still power on and the jig isn't going to make any difference. We'll see I suppose.
Thanks for the replies so far!

[Q] new, just bought samsung Galaxy S2 need help

Hi everyone.
I had just bought the new Samsung galaxy s2,
the attachment got the screenshot of version of my phone.
now I was doing lot of reading on this forum before I do anything.
then I decided to install this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1320328 rom to my phone.
now as far as I know that 1st step is to take backup of my contacts and phone data.
then copy the zip file to sd card and try to install this rom as per instruction but then I got confused about " Find the best modem for your network"
can somebody help me with this.
right now I don't know anything about android but I am quick Lerner.
can you explain me what this modem does. If I messed with it, will I be not able to connect wifi.
I had seen http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1277593 thread. but I dont know what is all about. If I get some idea them might I will understand more quickly..
thanks hoping somebody will help me.
You have an I9100T model phone.
What they are saying is that each user of their clean and simple Rom may have different results with different modems.
The linked modem thread has good info on users experience around the world and what works best in their region for their carrier, mainly for the I9100 model.
Many users in Australia are saying that the I9100T model works best with the modem that comes on the 'T' device.
Read that modem thread for more info and I think there is a link in there for the 'T' model modem thread. Also might help to check out the Australian thread. Heaps of I9100T users comments in there.
Good luck.
Edit: I believe WiFi is handled by the kernel not the modem. The modem is more for connection to your carrier.

Hi, welcome to the wonderful world of the SGS2!
Nice choice on first ROM to try out ;-)
first thing you need to do is root your phone and install clockworkmod and superuser. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278 is a really great guide and source of the knowledge. That thread is where I started from to learn the ways of android.
regarding the modem: this relates to mobile cell reception rather than wifi. Some different modems work better than others, latest is not always best. The modem can also be network carrier dependant.. Network 3 optimised have always been the best for me. Modems can be flashed and tested fairly easily once your accustomed to your rooted phone and using cwm(clockworkmod).
Hope this helps!
thanks for the reply guys.
now I am going to play with my phone 1st time.
now I want to know if I messed up something. if there are option to restore the phone to its default level or not.
thanks waiting for answer.

1. The yellow triangle is present because you flashed a unofficial kernel. There is a way to remove it in the thread OR you can buy a jig off eBay and just plug it in.
2. Did you set the connection settingin the notification bar/ settings? You can also try to reinstall the drivers for your phone.
Thanks for reply guys. I fixes the usb prob and order the jig form ebay. Thx

but I dont know how to use it,
I try to search some tutorials from net but didnt get any. can anybody help me. please...
This is what intratech said about halfway down the 3rd post in his official firmware thread.

If you've already flashed a full package from elsewhere and cannot reset your binary counter using the Jig just flash this package in the PDA or Bootloader (Yes both will work) section of Odin to replace the bootloaders and then you can reset the counter:http://www.multiupload.com/LQQBRQVJUD

USB jig issue with 2.3.5

Hi guys i was gonna root my phone and was told it would be a good idea to buy a usb jig first incase something goes wrong but when i went to buy one it said it did not support 2.3.5 then i read that i can flash the the phone with a modified firmware which lets me use the usb jig, now excuse my ignorance because i am a noob and i'm trying to do all the research i can before i root my phone but am i wrong in saying that if something goes wrong while flashing this modified firmware and i brick my phone i cant use the usb jig to revive it?

No my friend, you wont brick your phone if you follows the instructions correctly mentioned on the thread. Regarding your query about USB jig, Its a nice tool, everyone should have one before proceeding with flashing ROM/Kernals
USB jig will help to :
1. To reset custom binary counter.
2. Removing the yellow triangle after flashing custom software
3. Getting to Download mode in case of soft brick
Version 2.3.5 onwards are packaged with New bootloader which doesnt allow you to use the bootloader. If you follow the Intratech thread on flashing ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278) and Chainfire thread for rooting (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278), you will not go wrong.
P.S Intratech packages all ROMS with old bootloaders, so you will be able to use USB jib.
All the best with Flashing and rooting . PM me if you have any concerns!
Hope this helps!
thanx for your help

If you are good at soldering, you can make one at home using a USB cable. Search the forum and you will find thread regarding making the USG Jib or purchase online or buy locally.
Amazon link : http://www.amazon.co.uk/SAMSUNG-GALAXY-9001I-DOWNLOAD-MODE/dp/B004YIUIKG
They are available on ebay for as little as £1 from trusted sellers.

The chances that you will brick your phone by flashing bootloader are the same as you flash firmware.

my point exactly but if i do my phone is then duffed for good.
p.s. are there any good custom roms that still have touchwiz as i really like it.
I'm using Hyperdroid Androimeda rom. It is deodexed stock slightly tuned. Works like a charm. has TW
Thanx for the quick reply are there any others?
SensatioN Rom - very good one
i agree that the USB jig works good, i get one month ago and i used it many times on a galaxy S2. i had the case when i get over the version 2.3.4 to go to 2.3.6 so i used ODIN to go back to the down version then i went to CM7. From there i became a flash junkie, tried at least 10 different roms and each time i needed to reset the custom binary counter i putted at least the 2.3.4 how much more fun i can get with this game"galaxy"boy. So I'm very grateful for the great job the XDA team are making here! Thank's to ALL!
is there a really good video tutorial to show me exactly how to do it including how to get stock firmware and how to get back so the usb jig works again and where did you get your usb jig was it ebay?

Guys just try searching in google.
There are many youtube vids for example...

just got a china mobile galaxy s2 (gt-i9108) how to root ?

hi
i got a gt-i9108
anyone know how i can root it ?
i can't go into download mode.
pull of battery and sim card, pull on baterry (dont pull on sim card) press V- power and home atthe sametime and u can enter into download mode
But apparently i9100 kernels and firmwares will NOT work on the i9108. Someone in another thread just tried an i9100 kernel in an i9108, and it did not end well for him.
Edit to add: according to this link that I found with my handy dandy googling skills, the i9108 uses the same SoC/chipset that the i9100G uses. So DEFINITELY don't use any i9100 kernels or firmwares.

Please re-read the posts above.
Chainfire doesn't have any I9108 kernels.
Supposedly, the I9108 and the I9100G use the same SoC/chipset, so a kernel for the I9100G MIGHT work, but I wouldn't want to actually recommend it to anyone to try.
DON'T DO IT LOL
Yes I was the one who bricked my friend's China Mobile SGS2
The USB jig I ordered ended up working...
but that arrived AFTER I took my phone to be fixed for 40$

Good luck getting any more help.
You can try to get into Download mode using USB Dongle Jig.
If not, JTAG is the only way to unbrick. Unbrivk with JTAG costs about 50$ in my country. It will totaly reflashe the rom (bootloader, kernel, etc.).

i brick my touch 2 times
first in triangleaway 2.36 then send it to warranty n they replaced the whole screen.
second flashing wrong recovery (SHV-E250K = korean note 2) with my SHV-E210K s3, im confused here so my mistake. and send again for screen replacement.
its an issue with triangleaway with version 2.36 and up resetting it will result in hardware brick( touchscreen)so even u use pit file its no use. the only solution is to send it for warranty. but before sending it be sure to reset your counter by using usb otg and mouse to be able to navigate the screen and use triangleaway 2.26 to reset the counter.
here is the guide to reset your counter, this surely help you to claim warranty

flashing it with triangle away 2.36 or flashing wrong kernel or recovery( note/note2 ) to your e210k s3 will definitely broke your touch hardware
others and i already tried that with no luck but you can try what he suggest to find out, unfortunately your hardware already died you dont have any option but to replace it by yourself or go to warranty.
Shall I take to to samsung??

No Samsung will only repair korean variants in korea.
Also, the touchscreen is pretty much done. The note2 kernel has a higher voltage for the touch controller and it's too high for the S3. iirc anyways.
The same thing happaned to Erica one of the XDA tv guys :3

yes i think you are right cos the size of the screen of note/2 is bigger compare to s3 thats why it needs higher voltage and this causes the failing of touch hardwares.
I got a good news! I take it to the seller they said they have two method to solve this problem. First is change the monitor but it expense ($1800HKD), another is change the bus of the LCD it cost 800HKD (100USD). Obviously, i choose second method!
