Clear cache and data from apps in settings.
Wait....maybe since the prepaid card is discontinued? Try adding a debit card or prepaid MasterCard? Idk, have it linked to my bank card and it works great.

Thanks Anthonicia, unfortunately that way didn't work too. I'm trying to add my bank credits and all of them are visa. I never had any problem with Google wallet until the last update. It used to work like a charm before that stupid update.

Did u make a backup of the old gwallet in Titanium Backup? Uninstall new version and install previous version that worked.
Also, try over WiFi or network, whichever u aren't using. Remember my visa card not wanting to be added over 3g, had to use WiFi. Good luck

Unfortunately, i don't have titanium backup installed because it needs root privilege and i'm not rooted. I tried all methods over wifi and over 3g still don't wanna work. i was planing to do a factory rest but i will wait a little bit until i root and get s-off on my phone. Hopefully that error get fixed after that.

Have u tried uninstalling updates in apps for gwallet? Then just download the old version off google somewhere. Maybe try the modaco version. It does away with certain checks that make it more friendly.

The app dev has been working on fixing all the FC issues as their related to the sqlite database access whenever apps were requesting root access it was having issues with accessing its own database where it stored saved permissions. Not being able to access its own database was causing the FC issue.
He explains a lot of the bug trouble shooting on his web site: http://androidsu.com/
latest version on the market should have the majority of fixes. i would give that one a shot. go to market, install latest version and make sure to do the update su binary inside the latest version of the app.
personally, i just got rid of it and put the dev su binary from AOSP on until he has for sure fixed everything. not a very secure solution so i wouldn't recommend it for all, but for developing purposes, it saves me from having to deal with erroneous FC issues for now.
Sup pm man?? Hope all is good. A you could extract a su from a stable rom or a nand you made by using 7zip and install it. Or you could just try one of the super wipe zips around here and see if that works. Its weied though I've heard alot about su fc on a few members but I'm running steeleH rom and I've had not one fc.

Looks like he got it, updating SU through the app will give you 3.0.3 and it's working great again.
If anyone has trouble getting to where you can update it try wiping the data for Superuser first and then go to Superuser -> Menu -> Preferences -> Su binary... (tap to check for updates)

Hi everyone! I'm a n00b here and I installed recently the [ROM][RC4b][10.09.2011] Gingerbread 2.3.3 with HTC Sense 2.1+. It was working OK but now it's making me some kind of troubles with the bluetooth that I cannot fix and I was hoping if somebody could help me.
When I connect the HTC Legend to the bluetooth of my car (it's not a separated bluetooth, it's part of the car) the phone crashes with a com.android.phone error and asks me to put the PIN of the SIM card. It's not a complete reboot.
I've tried to whipe it but it doesn't works. At first this happened when I my HTC Sense account, but now it seems to happen when Market updates to Google Play (always), and I cannot stop this process. I've tried, whit the Root Explorer, to erase the Market Updater o change permissions, but it stills updates.
I've searched this error on the web and I only found threads about Samsung, so I don't know if the fixes for Samsung will work.
So, my questions are
Is there any way to stop the updating of the Market?
Has somebody fixed this issue?
Exists any other ROM with Gingerbread for Legend? I've tried other ROMs but 2.2 is so boring and Cyanogen... It's excessive for me.
Thanks for the answers!!
I've used ogos gingerbread for a long time, I've never had bt issues like your describing, the only thing I can suggest is you are flashing a bad zip file.
Try doing a zip check with a zip manager like 7zip or similar.
I'm order to stop market, u need to either freeze marketupdater.apk or rename the file, its located in /system/app you need s-off or unlocked boot loader (hboot 1.02).
I think ogos is the only gingerbread with sense available (please correct me if I'm wrong) , everything else Is a variation of cyanogen.

I have renamed MarketUpdater.apk and it still updates, I tried to erase it (before, not now, I've made a new flash) and Market updates to Google Play. Is there another way? I have the unlocked HBOOT 1.02 but I'm not S-OFF, I don´t know if this last thing affects...
EDIT: The 7zip tests says that the ROM is OK

Did you reboot your phone after renaming?
P..s. what did you rename it too? I always rename by changing .apk to .bak
I think you might have to clear dalvik cache too.
As you may have heard, unlocked hboot 1.02 is pretty much s-off radio and sim lock and some other little bits is only still locked

On my S-On the only way to stop market updater is to prevent it from going online by means of Avast's firewall option.

I renamed it to MARKETUPDATE22.BAK, but it stills update. That's confusing, at least for me, I thought that it won't update again to Google Play. Of course I made a reset.
I didn't tried to wipe the Dalvik. I'll try and tonight I'll proof it with my car.
:what: hum mm I'm at a loss too.
Can I assume that you still have old market as in not yet updated to play store? Before disable updater?
Before this unlocked bootloader thing I know that old market that came with rom was protected and didn't get replaced not sure now, haven't tried that but You might be able to still uninstall new market from settings manage apps.

Try this, it seems to work for me.

I found this posted over at the HTC Aria forum by user mtnlion and thought somebody might be interested. You can turn off the market updater (which is responsible for bringing the new market back over and over) by going to terminal emulator and typing:
Code:
$ su
# pm disable com.android.vending.updater
This can be re-enabled by doing the same as above but typing enable instead of disable. I've tested it and it appears to persist after reboot. If you already have the new market you can go to Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > All > Market > Uninstall Updates. This will revert you to the old market. Do it after disabling updater.
This doesn't stop automatic updates of apps according to the other thread. I'm sure some of you already know about this but hopefully it'll help somebody

Hi to everyone! Unfortunately, the pm disable com.android.vending.updater doesn't work and still updates. I hadn't tried to connect again because my car was in the mechanic, tomorrow I'll try again to see if Dalvik's has worked.
Thanks to everyone!
I don't know if this was suggested, but how about backing up the updater app, and from there remove it?
If you ever need it again, resort to the backup.
Not sure if it'll work, but logic states that there isn't a reason it shouldn't.
Hi! After cleaning Dalvik's caché looks to be working fine, after 2 days it doesn't crash. I don't know if this is really solved but hey, let's try it.

Its safe to root using Zeomax's method ONLY:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1671577
I did this, plus the needed build.prop edits & my Google Wallet is back in action, funds & secure thing-ama-jig intact.
So go ahead. Even though you can't do any clearing operation now, the root method will not kill the secure element.
I rooted using the RegawMOD method without clearing Wallet and once I changed build.props Wallet is working fine.
So, deleting google wallet using titanium before clearing settings will even screw up your NFC?

Yes, it has nothing to do with the app data, it has to clear a value on the NFC chip itself and only Wallet can access the chip.

Editing the build.prop gets Google Wallet working again. You need to ROOT 1st in order to do anything to the build.prop file.

It seems to be that you have to root before you edit the build.prob file. I guess its a risk since you cant clear Wallet while not rooted, you can maybe mess up the Element chip thingy.

Yes, use the exploit to root instead of the unlock method.
Exploits are crummy, so I would only use it to root, edit your build.prop, access wallet, clear it, and then do HTC unlock (which will wipe your phone) and then flash custom recovery and then flash su.

Sorry if this has been posted, I read through a few threads but none of them had what I was looking for. I had been using google wallet quite regularly before they deactivated it, and would like to root now. Is there a way to root without messing up my secure element because I can not get into the app to clear my settings
I personally think you can just go into the app management settings clear the app and uninstall updates and you'll be fine. But if you want to make sure, you could try to temporary root (http://www.pocketables.com/2012/06/how-to-unlockroot-and-keep-your-stuff-on-the-htc-evo-4g-lte.html), clear the app manually (http://www.pocketables.com/2012/06/...google-wallet-settings-on-the-evo-4g-lte.html), and then you should be fine.
The instructions for clearing the app manually require root, but I think temporary root should give you the access you need.

It should answer your question.
That link doesn't actually answer the question. At the moment I can't even get INTO google wallet to clear the settings.
If all your doing is rooting then you will be fine without clearing wallet settings. If you start flashing roms then you have to get into wallet to clear settings. Clearing app data from outside google wallet will NOT prevent a bricked element. Only wallet has access to to the secure element. If you need to get into wallet you will have to do a build prop edit. No a build prop edit will not brick your element. Hope this helps.

One question: If you root and unlock your bootloader, don't you hard reset your phone in the process?
I'm wondering this too and had the same thought about the hard reset after rooting being a necessary step.... I may be wrong since my previous attempts resulted in root followed by an immediate rom flash.
I want to root too but also want to maintain the secure element for future use.
Disregard

I was in same boat as you all but gave in.
I had already been in wallet before they broke it so no way to clear it.
I gave in and rooted my phone, than I s-off it and than installed custom recovery and now have installed the patched APK for wallet.
Guess what? Not once during any of this did I have to hard reset or brick my NFC.
My wallet now works. I did this because I do want to flash a rom but of course need to clear wallet first and couldn't do that until I rooted etc.
So you are fine to do everything so long as you don't mess up or hard reset.

"Get titanium backup from market and remove SetUp Wizard. You'll see it in the list of installed programs. There's a 1.0 and 1.3 I believe it is. You can remove both, then should be good to go"
I downloaded Titanium as he said, you need to be rooted.
Open titanium and work your way through all the promptings.
go to (backup / restore)
scroll all the way down to setup wizard. Mine had 1.0 and 1.3 like he said.
uninstall them by touching each one and choosing the red "uninstall" tab.
reboot to verify.
Worked perfectly for me, no more blockout and no more activation prompts! Thanks!
