I've noticed that ever since the jb update when my Prime goes to sleep the tablet will only wake up after the second or third press of the power button. Normally I'd think that this might be a hardware issue but it doesn't seem like it judging from the responsiveness of when I press it at any point other than when it goes to deep sleep
Yes! And one more thing to get out of the way is whenever I charge my tablet. For after 15-20 minutes of usage the tablet displays the charging logo followed by a ding sound like I've just plugged in the cable, I would've usually thought that this might be yet again an issue with the usb cable or my port but I've Did a search and found that some of the users are having these issues after the update as well.
So I'm quite curious about your experience with the update? Did any abnormalities suffice? If so did you manage to solve it?
I have same bugs and many other bugs with JB

Got the same problems, and even have occasions where I can't switch the tablet "off". The button just doesn't respond, however when using a software reboot app, the button works perfectly again.

I wouldn't say it's much of a surprise for the amount if effort put in considering that this is already a discontinued device
I have this problem while running Craig's custom JB builds of CM10 using the 3.1 kernel as well. This is definitely a bug in the source somewhere.

Both the charging and power button problems?
Hmmm.. It gets me wondering that since there are considerably minute amount of Prime users out there and that this is a defective product, on a consumer perspective, users won't bother complaining about bugs like the power button and the charging issue or sd card dock causing reboot issues as long as Asus doesn't destroy their tablet with another update its good enough, expectations of how the Prime should be working as a premium product has decreased dramatically
While on an Asus perspective, they wouldn't very much be bothered to test and seek for any bugs for the Prime given that it is a discontinued device, so I'm guessing that issues like these will never be solved if a Prime owner remains stock
Just the power button issue.

i experienced both of the issues too.
thanks for this thread. i thought i was too stupid to push the button but it seems like many people got the same problem. it's not that big a deal but a little annoying in my opinion.
Yes. If needed, I'm on HB 1.3

I have also had both problems.
In addition, the update to JB removed the "News and Weather" app and also disabled the syncing of bookmarks in the stock browser with my Google account.
All very annoying issues.
I am on HairyBean 1.3 and have several issues.
-The "charging" popup will happen every 30 minutes or so when the cable is plugged in.
-I cannot use the keyboard dock's Lock button to wake up the Prime from sleep.
-any tabs I have open in the stock browser will disappear when the Prime goes to sleep.

I hate to get this thread off topic but to try and resolve these issues either pm me or post in the thread. I am not an official Androwook developer but I did install HB 1.3 on my prime and have not had any issues.
Also I can confirm this issue before flashing Androwook's Hairbean 1.3 with the custom Cleankernal. Stock Jelly Bean seems to just have an adjustment that puts it into a deeper sleep that's excessive in an attempt to improve battery life.

My prime works well on everything but this dead spot on the screen o.o its new and I just found it via a drawing app its the spot where nothing would draw
I attached the pic (screen shot)
Sent from my Transformer Prime TF201 using Tapatalk
download multitouch app from the market, see where the dead zone is....I suspect that it was exactly the same place as my old one..which was right where the WiFi radio/antenna was (based on Anatech's teardown)
I searched and searched for an answer to my issue...some said to run a re calibration..but that didn't work for me.
ICS updated didn't help either. Ultimately i returned mine for another..and this one has no deadzones...no skips..nothing. BUT i traded for a white dead pixel and a bit more light bleed then my first one. I can live with that.
If you want to see an example of my deadzone...go to youtube and search for monkeyboywa. I posted several.
My summary? Return it for another one.
Thank you. I may just return to amazon and wait for the 700 or padphone if it works with att without having to lose my unlimited data. This device has problems even though the deadzone and GPS are my only ones I paid close $ 700 for this and the dock ( which I'm prob going to cancel the order for)
Sent from my Transformer Prime TF201 using Tapatalk
Update : I put it on its back and tapped a bit hard with my finger and it worked.......... even after when I soft touched it worked.
Sent from my Transformer Prime TF201 using Tapatalk
I should mention that the screen dead zoned again. It seems to be an on off occurance. In different spots
Sent from my MB860 using Tapatalk
Considering Asus's defect rate with the TF201, I find my self not surprised by your post.
You have a very good point. I am getting my money back and really researching. I'm thinking padfone if ATT doesn't botch it
Sent from my MB860 using Tapatalk
Mine did this at least twice. Seemed to be related to screen autorotate. Haven't pinpointed it exactly yet but it always happened after the screen rotated (maybe I had my thumb on it while it was rotating?).
Anyway turning the tab upside down, causing another rotate, fixed it for me.
Freaked me out for a second. Loaded the same notes app and found that I don't have any dead zones... Sorry to hear about your problem.
That could be it. I have my rma just sitting in my email I have until march to send it back. So im looking at the padfone also as a next device or ill get the new one that comes out. Asus rushed to much on this tablet.
Sent from my MB860 using Tapatalk
i've had this happen as well. I didn't think it could be software related, but a reboot fixed it.
Its the strangest thing. But depending on what my options are by march 1 St ill make my choice

I got the same thing 3 times now...it was gone after i did cold boot and reconnecting the charger, but now it's acting up again...my dead area is the line straight down below the letter U on ASUS logo...help!

I got a dock about 3 days ago (Awesome, by the way. Recommend it!). I'm unlocked and rooted. I've been on two Roms the last couple of days. Virtuous Prime v.21 and the latest AOKP iteration. On both Roms, I've experienced my tablet NOT sleeping when I've folded (closed) the tablet onto my dock and charged it overnight. Here's what I think happens: I believe it sleeps as it should when i initially plug it in and close it, but when i unplug the charger in the morning, the screen comes on and stays on. It never shuts off and sleeps.
Today I went to play on my tablet. The unit was hot and my dock battery was completely drained and tablet battery at 40%.
I'm wondering if any of you are also experiencing this? Also, curious if this is happening on stock? Very weird. Is it a .21 thing or Rom thing or kernel thing? Don't know yet.

read the dev forum posts and comment directly to the one to see if you can get help. i read just the other day that dock/sleep mode has not been configured yet, but it may have changed. i would suggest:
downloading the latest rom (make sure it actually says dock/sleep support)
backup current setup
wipe system/cache/data
install new rom

Thanks. Yes, both Roms I tried purportedly support dock/sleep. Yes, I always perform complete system/cache/dalvik/data wipes. And, yes, I've posted this problem in each Dev thread (no feedback yet).
Dock/sleep does indeed work (both Roms). The problem seems to occur after unplugging my Prime from charging while it's in dock/sleep. It 'wakes' up, turning the screen on, and leaves it on until I open it back up and close it.

I have went to open my prime several times only to have to press the power button over 15 seconds to start. Is asus gonna fix this? is something draining my battery cuz it is very low when it does this, however i see my prime lasting days if i do not use it for long periods

I also have this problem. Its only started doing it since the recent asus firmware update.

I haven't noticed this problem with my own Prime.
Have either of you tried doing factory resets? Generally speaking a factory reset solves all kinds of annoying software glitches like this one, especially ones that occur right after an update.
I have not been able to use my Transformer Prime for a few months now (I'm in the military) and obviously the battery died. The problem is, I cant get it to turn on at all now. The power cable connectors look fine, and it always worked before this. Does anyone have any advice? My Prime is rooted and running Virtuous Rom.
I would assume something wrong with the power supply or port inside the device. I have a prime that I am parting out if you need any parts. The only thing that is unusable is the system board on mine (due to a bad flash).
Best of luck figuring it out!
Well neither the tablet nor the dock are charging. Would that indicate a bad power cord more than anything else?

Normally I think it has to get up to I think a 5% charge before it will turn on but not sure if this is what you are describing or if you have let it stay plugged in for some time and it is not charging. That would seem like a hardware issue then.

Yes, I would think so! It's a known issue. If the dock charged and not the tablet that would be anothet thing. Do you get a light in either when plugged?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
Yes, I was going to ask if you saw the little red/green glow coming from teh tablet On button (VERY small hole, easier to see in dark) or the mor obvious LED next to the charging port on the dock.
I checked and nope there's no light on the tablet or keyboard. Ill swing by best buy tonight and get a new cord. Thanks for the help!

So my "not even two day old" device experienced a sudden death.
I was reading a manga on it and it suddenly turned off... It turned on when i connected the power cable and pressed vol up plus power key.
But this is a horrific thing to happen to a guy.. I mean I paid too much and not for this...
Any fixes? Anyone?
I'm really afraid people!!!
It sounds more like "sudden faint" more than sudden death. It happened to my XTZ once as well but just once so I'm not worried as much as you. I guess like any computer thingy with a lot of fancy electronic stuff it can act wierd from time to time. As far as I can see - if it's not happening often, than don't worry too much and just enjoy your cool tablet

Maybe the battery just died? If not, you may have just used a slightly unstable root. Are you running a custom rom?

I totally agree with you there... but it would be nice if sony rolled out an update fixing this issue... like they did with xperia z....
the phone had the same issue and they resolved it... maybe someone can isolate the fix and modify it for the tablet.

Problem with Xperia Z was different. "Sudden death" was permament and not fixible by power and volume button. It had something to do with stamina and battery voltage control and I'm 99,99% sure this is not the case here.
But I agree with you that Sony should(and probably will) fix it in the next update.

This is not the issue I had. I wanted to clarify here that yours is fixable, my tablet was a complete brick, and doesn't even respond to button presses nor being plugged in, and no LED's turn on when plugged in. Mine is pooched, yours still turns on.
