[Q] Newbie qeustions - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ive been wondering about a few things...
Can i install the 4.1 jellybean OTA update from poland over my stock rom?.. PHN csc?...
i understand after i did this, my csc will be XEO.. i'll use csc changer to change it back to PHN however...
when i did this.. will i recieve updates from phn?.. and will i be able to install these...
ive searched the forums about it, and ive read that you will recieve updates.. but will you be able to install them, if you use the latest update of another country?..
What when the update for 4.1 my region (phn) comes out and im alread yrunning the one from poland?.. will things **** up or?

CWM cancels firmware update

I startet the update one min ago, rebooted and cwm then canceld it saying that the signature was incorrect so it abortet the update..
what to do now ?
What update by what method what file .
Strange to update via CWM .
jje
Did u flash the cwm and what file are u trying to flash(zip, tar, rom or kernel)
I did not do anything via cwm...
I went down to my phone and checked if theres and update avaliable,
it found one and downloaded it and rebooted in order to install it and after the phone was off it opened the packet and startet installing and all of a sudden i landed in cwm saying the packets signature was invalid...
thats what happened
OTA does not work with CWM. There are work-arounds but it's recommended to stay with Kies or Odin to flash new versions.

lol thats a minus for cwm imo... meh... does anybody have a link to a thread providing the latest release ?
whisch one is it btw ? 4.1 jelly bean ?
Here are most of the available firmwares:
http://www.samfirmware.com/
Jellybean isn't out for a couple of months, so it's a bugfix/enhancement release of ICS.

CWM is not designed for Samsung but for Android phones in general. So it cannot support all of the quirks and specialitys of all devices.
Latest CWM and root from dev section is supposed to allow updates OTA.but of course you need to reroot .
Simpler to join XDA and flash stock roms rather than try to mix and match .

I don't know what you mean by 'patch'. If you mean ROM version, then yes... flash the one you like. OTA partial updates are not available.

Samfirmware is Odin-only since they are full-Stock firmwares.

Two choices one wait for your official update time frame unknown ask your phone vendor when .
Or join XDA and flash stock roms on release day but no KIES or OTA updates .

flashing stock ics firmware ( branded or unbranded) does not require root ma8
root is required only when u want to run some Root access apps or if u want to install a Custom Rom or kernel to ur phone

[Q] 4.1.2 OTA

Hi guys, I'm a new Galaxy S3 owner that is french no brand i9300XXDLJ2 with 4.1.1 stock, now I want to update to 4.1.2 but i dont want to lose all my things, I'm wainting for OTA message that I haven't get yet.. I though to flash through clockwork the OTA but I don't know where to download it..
Is it possible to update flashing the OTA of another country? If yes, could someone post it with a link to download? I need the no brand or Vodafone version, thanks to those who'll reply
sammobile.com has I9300 firmwares. And yes, you can flash firmware from other countries. Flash them using Odin. XDA does have CWM versions on General section. Search. All files will stay as long as you don't wipe anything.

OTA update usually fails to install .
Kies may update if it sees correct codes but as you are modify phone it may not .
You would be beter reading the faqs and guides first .

no, you'll have to decrease the binary counter with Triangle Away (requires root), then you can flash a stock ROM with Odin.
please, before you do anything stupid, read a TUTORIAL, because everything i'm saing is extremely superficial!
Why would you root then throw away all the benefits of being rooted by installing official updates?

You don't have to use big letters on us! We can read! Now, since you shouted at us, I'll be shouting back. No, you can't! You should stop using Kies anyway! It's cr*p!
