updated to Jellybean. *I use the built-in calendar app from Android. *I have my Exchange account added, and email comes through fine. *In the calendar, only SOME of my appointments show up. *I figured out that it is certain categories that don't make it through... Personal, Networking, etc don't work but Business, Vacation, Firm Event, etc do. *It's quite strange.
Any fix here? *I have tried deleting the account and re-adding. No problem when I was on ICS.*
Thanks everyone!

Is there any way to install google calendar on the galaxy note? i'm sorry but S planner sucks very bad, it does not sync my time properly (weird it shows time data but is not actaully in the correct time slot), and i cannot set default reminder time. what are you thinking samsung?
it is unrooted running gingerbread.
Just sync your Google account to the Note and the calendar should be there.

The stock calendar is a pretty good implementation. I like the way it has the different tabs on the side for day, week and month views.
As stated, sync you google account in Settings->Accounts and make sure the Calendar option is checked.
Interesting. I find the stock calendar to be much better than the GMAIL one. If you really dont like it; try Jorte. Whatever calander app you use, you still sync the google content the same way.
Has anyone found away to sync the notes tasks with a Google account?

i've just tried JORTE, MUCH better. at least it sync properly.
HOWEVER, whenever i have 5 appointments int he same timeslot, JORTE only shows the last one. in google calendar, it would would shorten them to show all of them.. anyway i can do this in JORTE?
I think the calendar that comes on the note is FANTASTIC a lot better than any stock or gmail calendar I have seen on Android phones these days.
Hello,
I have an unbranded German S II. Since updating to Android 4.0.3 (through Samsung Kies), the standard calendar widget doesn't work like it used to anymore.
I synchronize with my Google account where I have multiple different calendars for different purposes (work, freetime, projects, etc.). On my phone I can go into the calendar app's configuration and tick the boxes of those calendars I want to have synchronized and shown. It used to work like that and I could make it so that only my work appointments would be shown on the calendar widget on my homescreen.
Now, after updating to ICS, the calendar widget will show all calendars at all times, rendering it less useful. No amount of fiddling with the properties has corrected this. After asking in two other forums, this is my last hope.
I really hope somebody here knows the problem and might be able to help. Or is this really just me? Thanks in advance!
I don't have a direct answer to your question, but if the stock calendar widget isn't behaving how you'd like it to, there's a Play Store brimming with alternatives. I'm sure at least one will function in the way you're hoping.
Yeah, I know. I don't need any fancy, skinnable, customizable calendar apps that fill the android market. I'd rather have the stock widget that just does what I want it to. Seeing as this worked fine before the update, I hoped there was something I could do. Alas, seems as if that is not the case. Thanks though
Hello, i have exactly the same problem. Did you find any solution ?

It's good to hear someone finally acknowledging the problem. I was starting to question my sanity as it seems that out of millions of owners of the SII only I have the problem. Finally someone else speaks up, thank you for that
Sadly, I have not found a solution since. I completely changed the way I organize my events in google calendar. It's not as well organized as it was before but it gets the job done. Still, I would prefer if the calendar worked like it did before...
If you don't want to redo your whole google calendar organization, I guess you could indeed try a third party calendar. The play store is full of calendar apps; I was overwhelmed, because I just want a simple and clean calendar, like the stock one.

When you select the widget, you should be prompted to select which calaendar to display. If it doesn't, check out this alternative widget. You can still use your default calendar, but use this widget instead of the stock:

Hello guys
I'm using Galaxy S2, running ICS 4.0.3
I have lots of funny contact names because of the SKYPE nicknames. Also, some contacts are made from email handlers.
So to organize them nicely, I spent last few hours on my Gmail / Contact account, renaming, adding photos, merging etc...
Except, that when I want to SYNC it. Not all of the contacts update, and some remain as they were.
I would trash them all and import new set from Gmail, but I'm worry that when I do that, it might trash my gmail contact as well
Any idea what's the best way to deal with that ?
Also, is there any way to change the contact font size? I have many long names, and lots of contacts. The screen cuts most of the names
off and many of the contacts share same name. I have to open the contact, to find out details in order to know who I'm looking for.
Any suggestions, much appreciated.
Did u try manually syncing gmail contacts under settings? Some times you have to manually push it. Also, what android version/ROM are you running?

Hi there
Yes, right after I made changes in my gmail contacts, I went to settings and did the Sync Now.
Let me explain what doesn't update exactly.
I have many phone numbers to HP staff. They used to be sorted like: James - HP, Azman - HP, Raymond - HP etc.... Because they were all over my address book, I rename it in gmail contacts to HP - James, HP - Azman, HP - Raymond. Having them all grouped together in my list, given the first letters are identical. It works great in gmail contacts, but out of these 3, only HP - Azman get updated after SYNC. The rest remain the same.
This is something I don't understand.
Thanks for taking the time and looking into my post
Cheers
Seba
I have a Verizon Galaxy S3 running Cyanogenmod 10, and I am connected to an Exchange 2010 Server. (Although this problem existed with the stock ROM as well.) When I create a new appointment on my calendar from the phone, it shows as a meeting request instead of a "normal" calendar item. It wouldn't be too much of a problem, except for when I try to edit an entry in Outlook it will say "You are changing details for a meeting on your calendar and you are not the meeting organizer."
Has anyone else experienced this? This problem did not exist on my Samsung Captivate running CM9.
Thanks!
Yes, same problem for me.
When you use the S-planner (Samsung's calender) it's all good.
But with CM10 or even with Google's own calender app on a Sammy ROM one is not able to edit all the calender items except the ones which are meeting requests.
This also means that when you delete a calender item which was created by the Google calendar you get a e-mail saying the organizer deleted the calendar item.
Very annoying!
Update on this: it seems that the problem is the Exchange server together with Android. No problem on a iPhone or Nokia.
Already found out that there is one update which is responsible for this. Just have to figure out which.

I've noticed something recently, same on my and my wife's S4s.
In the S4 stock calendar, you can't remove reminders for meetings that others have set. I've always done this in the stock Google calendar, when I had a meeting that I wanted to keep on my calendar but didn't want a reminder for.
I'm assuming this is just a missing feature or defect, but just in case, does anyone have a work-around?
I'm going to download and install the Google calendar and use that to remove reminders, but I'd prefer to do everything in the stock S4 calendar.
Thanks!
Try going into settings- accounts - tap ur gmail acct then uncheck sync calender.... Hope that solves ur problem.

Thanks, but that will just remove the calendar from my phone...not what I want, just want to remove notifications on meetings once in a while.
