So I've came across the official HTC flashlight app and figured others would want it also.
Just click on the link below and download. MAKE SURE TO HAVE UNKNOWN SOURCES CHECKED TO BE ABLE TO DOWNLOAD!
Once downloaded just download a file manager from the playstore go to downloads and find it and install.
Works perfectly and has all three brightness settings. Just tap the button on the flashlight and bam your good to go and don't have to be afraid of the dark anymore!
This app is not guaranteed to keep boogie men, monsters, stalkers, serial killers, and other things that go bump in the night away, its simply a flashlight and most it can do is blind those and enable a chance to run away and piss your pants.
Enjoy!!!

I'm pretty sure this is already available in the HTC Hub. Or did they take it out again?

For what it's worth, TeslaLED is a free Market alternative that has a Sense-widget, much like the HTC Flashlight of yesteryear. I've found it to be the closest copy (in a good way) to the HTC Flashlight widget I used to love.
Bonus: No intrustive permissions like some flashlight apps;

So when I first turned on the phone a few nights ago there was a flashlight app on there out of the box. I've since done all of the updates and installed a bunch of stuff, but not removed anything. Now I can't find the flashlight app at all.
Anyone else notice this?
Mine didn't have one before I did the updates. Huh.

For what its worth, the flashlight IS supposed to be there...there are instructions for accessing it in the HTC mobile guide included on the phone...I went looking for the app also after reading that.

Ha, I wish
Anyways, it was there and now it's not - I'm 100% sure on that. I used it when I first turned on the phone and was checking out the stock apps. Also it's on page 102 of the user guide as a feature.
Maybe someone who is just getting the phone can check it out when they first turn on the device.
I took the OTA updates, so I wonder if they deleted the app somehow, or maybe it's hidden in the app drawer. Either way it's very strange.
So the flashlight app is back. It appeared in the HTC hub this morning and I was able to reinstall it. It's the same app that was preinstalled on the phone when I first got it.
Weird...I never had it either. I downloaded Tiny Flashlight +LED and it works great. It's the same one I used on my Epic as well. Lots of options (for a flashlight).
Flashlight is now in HTC hub

So I have noticed this on a few apps now. Sprint family locator & SwiFTP. When you open them it doesn't fill the entire screen. It's smaller, also my LiveBlackjack 21 game by dragon the menu fills up the entire screen but the deal button no longer shows at the bottom. Any settings that can be changed or will this have to be fixed from the dev side?

It didn't help. I noticed this with Photobucket and an NES emulator.
I'm getting the same thing with the Droid auctions app.
Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
My best guess is the "qHD" display is not support it by android natively that's why I'm kind of afraid getting the phone so , spare parts is a fix but it should have been fix from the beginning
Were gonna have to email the app devs and let them know what's up.
I had a few apps that did this...TD Bank, Spare parts, and 1 or 2 others. The spare parts option fixed all of them. Some apps are probably not programmed to take advantage of qHD, and thus its the devs fault, not HTC/Android. Maybe im wrong on that count, but thats my guess.
Spare parts kinda works for some aps, it didn't fix blackjack and kinda fixed family locator. The map came up full screen and then after you try and do a locate it gets all jacked. Hopefully these aps will get fixed soon.
Same with datpiff music app.

No, it means the app creator did not set it up to work with all resolutions...nothing to do with android

^^What this guy says...
FWIW, I've been setting up custom icons on most of my apps and I noticed the ones that don't support the new res have a generic "drawable" folder vs the others having "drawable hdpi," "drawable mdpi," and "drawable ldpi." The 3D uses the HDPI setup...
notice that on radar now app, I think apps will soon have updates on this issue.
This is the second day in a row google maps is the top app user of battery (behind screen of course).... the kicker is I have never even opened the app! Overall the battery life is still very good, but I don't get why maps is using my battery if I never use the app... I did open it up to see if I could force it to close, but I didn't see anything. Anyone else have this issue? I have the phone on wifi most of the day if that matters.
I noticed that too. Be sure you're signed out of the latitude layer. Also consider disabling geo tagging in the camera app settings...
Holy cow, there are a bunch of settings to turn off in maps. Who knew? Been noticing maps using battery also, but it didn't occur to me to go into its menu and look around.
i was curious about that.. the only thing i could think of was its the gps from the weather widget and it was labeled as maps instead of gps

that might be it, I signed out of lattitude and fixed the setting so it so it didn't update my location. Thanks for the tip, hope that fixes it
You should be able to report the app from the battery usage screen. Tap Google maps and report should be on the top right.
I do that whenever one of my app is misbehaving. It will help the devs fix the bug.

Mine was super dead and wouldn't even turn on when Received mine, I let it charge all night and unplugged it this morning and am down to 64% after 3 hours and 30 minutes of heavy use. I notice that it also was at 92% when I unplugged it so far better than the 3d but we shall see after a weeks worth of use or so.

I just did this, for a while I had location detection off.... but I like to be able to google search a business or place and have it show me the nearest locations of that business.... and that doesn't work if you turn off location detection... not to mention the weather lock screen doesn't work.... so right now my only solution is to leave the location detection on and live with maps eating my batter in the background.... I'm waiting a few more months to let the various dev created roms mature a bit before I try something other than stock sense

If you use ROM toolbox, you can go to auto-starts and disable all the receivers for Google maps (or most of them, you choose which specific receivers). I think there are like 16 different receivers.

+1...I have every start up event disabled for Maps in autostarts (available in play store) and it doesn't start unless I launch it myself. You could freeze it with titanium backup also, but then you'll need to defrost whenever you wanna use it which can be annoying.

Make sure both phones have the NFC turned on then pull up the contact or the web page(looks like ICS internet and chrome only work - dolphin wouldnt) then touch the backs of the phones together. It will push the item to the back of the screen and then touch the screen and it will beam it to the other phone. You can do the same with some apps as well and it will push app to the playstore. Cant wait till you can beam photos and files.

There is an app on the market called 'File Expert" that allows you to do it but I think when doing larger files bluetooth is faster. but hey if you wanna play. here is a toy.
I really can't wait to beam photos
Like the NFC aspect (outside of G-Wallet use), I wanted to bring another feature that is likely to be glossed over.
Some of you coming from an Epic Touch, might be familiar with this or people who've used Ad-Hoc.
Edit: (An app to take advantage of this ability (in beta) but it works well.

The same, it's just re-labled. They may have some pre-programmed tasks for it's use. It's present in the Samsung GS2.
Edit:
S-Beam is limited in function as it will only use it's main functions with other SGS3 handsets.

Seems like we need an app to make this work. Ive connected to other devices but I cant send anything due to no app to control the function

This Sucks
This really Sucks to have such a great feature bit no way to use it.... ive spent alot of time trying to figure it out but i couldnt..... i really hope someone figures this out....
My friend and I were messing with this over the weekend, he has an SIII I have the EVO. Turning it on and pairing the devices up works great, but when he would try to send a picture (WiFi Direct gets added to the standard Share menu on the SIII) it would just hang on his end until it timed out. I tried sending a file, but get no WiFi Direct option in the share menu of the EVO.
He also had a place to control some settings, one of them was "File Sharing" and he had to turn that on before we were able to attempt to send files.
Sucks that this doesn't work - it could be really cool especially if my wife and I want to pass photos around to each other that we have taken of the kids.
Makes no sense to add this ability with no way to use it..
I agree. I can pair with my brothers 4G LTE but cant transfer anything between the phones...
