Hi!
I have a huge problem. Sometimes the touchscreen is dont work, but its doesnt matter now. So i want to bring back i heard they fix it in warrantly.
But I rooted, run gingerbread rom, with changed kernel, and radio... so i dont want to break the warrantly (but i heard sometimes they dont care with this but its risky)
Today i started to reset the phone, i want to downgrade it but when i started to install the RUU it says: customer id error...
Whats the problem? please help i want to over the way as soon as possible
thanks.
Extract ROM.zip and try manual flashing using hboot.

Hi
Had the same problem when I installed cronos gingerbread with jumping screens and keyboard buttons not working , same thing happened when flashed other roms
It just unrooted by unstall the new official rom from the htc website.. updated it with the 2.1 ota and was good to go no more screen problems.
also try pressing down the screen a bit on the edges that helped as well
I have ADB installed so unrooting was a breeze
Have install Elelinux's gingerbread and is super smooth now

"also try pressing down the screen a bit on the edges that helped as well" if it works, that means its a hardwer fault. i downloaded an untouched rom, with radio, flashed it, and i play with radiant, and another games, ,and facebook for two hour and no problem...
otherwise... Super one click works with hero? i have offical rom, and offical radio. i only have to unroot the device, and they dont realise it at the service.
edit: another interesting thing: after the touchscreen problem the touchscreen is stoped working, i restart the phone, and after when it starts the phone was felt my fingers from 3-4 centimeters! iam stunned! now the touchscreen is working correct with the original rom/radio
Solved

Hi All, This is actually a hypothetical question at this point, bit of brief history..
Am basically a noob with my X10 mini Pro have been flashing some custom roms this year and just this morning made the leap to unlocked boot loader/zombiepanic kernel v1.63/GinTonic.SE 2.1 its all working perfectly and am very happy.
My question then is do I have to do a full factory reset slash wipe every time I do a ROM install? I have been doing this lately more because changed around from other ROMs, slade87 has been doing an excellent job of updating his ROM and kernel with functions and fixes. But I cannot see myself having the energy to reinstall all my apps and redo settings every time a new build is released.
So after long question will I be able to flash new build over current without loosing my apps and data? Know xrecovery always seemed to wipe my phone but when I changed to clockworkmod my first install was a direct upgrade and it worked fine without loosing anything!
If I cannot install without loosing my data is there an easier way to backup my apps and reload them, titanium backup just sat and prompted me to reinstall them all which is what I am already doing.
I apologize for the long nature of question but wanted to explain to avoid confusion.

Restore the titanium backup.. The option apk+data.. Ul get to ur normal application settings..but its better to restore only the apk's and not its data.. N about makin a factory reset after flashing.. Yes u need to do when u switch from one ROM to another.. Otherwise if u are just upgradin to higher version of the same, just make a cache wipe and dalvik wipe with CWM.. N u can backup ur (SMS)messages with my baackup pro in the market..
Gintonic.SE + zombie-pack kernel by slade ..
Awesome thanks for the response faiyyaz, understand the process now
So I finally updated to ics over the software update function. I noticed right away that phone isnt as smooth as it was. Some apps lags including browser and only youtube videos runs good others like nba.com/videos started to lag. So the update is a fail. I have all the updates even tryed force gpu rendering but it didnt do a thing. Battery life probably also bad(still early to say). So are they gonna fix it or i should go back to stock 2.3.4 ? Factory reset is not an option.

1. Flash a "good" ICS ROM:
If you want to stay stock, flash a new version from Intratech's Official Firmware thread => http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
On my phone, XWLPD performs very well.
2. If you have issues after flashing, shut down the phone, press Volume UP + Home + Power buttons till recovery menu appears.
Then wipe cache partition and reboot.
That will solve most issues.
Good luck !
if you dont want to enter in the Rooted world, do these,
Download the "File expert" from market, backup all the application,
Move your stuff on the SD card to the PC, (for a safety)
do the factory reset from phone menu,
download the File expert again, resotre your apps,
since you are not rooted, you cant save your data of the apps and settings...but downloaded data should be safe on the SDcard( 'android/data' forlder)
I advice you 2 things:
1) be patient and wait. When I moved from GB to ICS I wanted to go back to GB because ICS seemed to be a real failure in every aspect. After a while I eventually made up my mind and finally entered the root world and now I am the happiest person in the world
2) root your phone
3) try VK rom
wiping out cache didnt do much. I mean everything is ok but videos on browser that requires flash lags a little bit. So I guess its a clash between ics and flash? Since a lot of people are suffering from that
Hi all, I have a Z5C E8305, it just updated to 7.1.1 latest release xx.160.
Since then my battery lasts much less, everything is leggy, even whatsapp or camera, and for instance, switching out from chrome and going back again, lost the current page and caused a reload (before it didn't, for example for form completing).
I tried Sony companion for a repair, and it is actually much less leggy, but still slow, higher ram usage, battery drains and chrome cache resets and is slow on window switching (actually any window reloads when switching now) and slow icon loading when hiding all windows.
I read a lot through rooting but it is way too painful (unlocking bootloader, rooting, wrtp or clocked flash boot plus flash new room, too much for me and it didn't really work smoothly when I tried)
What is the next thing I can do? I wouldn't mind using either LineageOS if it is easy to install otherwise I'll be gold with 7.0 again
Thanks,
Jv

LineageOS is definitely better right now for most things than the official 7.1.1. I actually just switched from LineageOS 7.1.1 to stock 7.1.1, hated it, and actually downgraded to stock 6.0.1 with Xposed. I feel like that gives me the most control, but I might switch back to LineageOS depending on if they start doing nightlies or anything interesting like that.

I'd love to try it, but unlocking bootloader plus installing a new one (clockwork or the other one), plus the mix up between my non-standard edition E8305 and most current release not being any guides up-to date. Its daunting for a newcomer like me.
I saw on Sony's website forums that a factory reset helped with battery and memory usage. I am going to try that when I have a few days off as the lag is annoying me. But I also have audio stutters when listening to music and audio books now.

Clean install is your best bet in fixing most issues
Factory reset helped at first but after a week of using it it became slow again
No matter what I did, full wipe in FlashTool included, 7.1.1 never had any free ram and I could only background one, maybe two apps. Everything was slower than I've ever seen in a stock rom in any device I've owned!
Currently I've reverted to 6.0.1 and it provides a pleasing combination of speed, battery life, and tweakability with xposed.
Yesterday I took a gander at patching the one xposed feature I actually need into 7.0, but I gave up after a few hours. Maybe I'll try another weekend sometime, but writing/debugging smali is painful! I think I'll just stay on 6 for now and hope xposed makes it to 7 someday!

1. Just backup everything you need (backing up whole apps isnt recommended though when you switch android versions).
2. Download and install Flashtool.
3. Open XperiFirm from inside Flashtool, select and download the firmware you need. It will bundle it automatically in a flashable ftf file.
4. Once you are sure you backed up everything, flash away.
Wipe everything. If you have TWRP and dont want to lose it, dont wipe FOTAKernel.
Good luck :fingers-crossed:

I did this; copied from the sony forums:
"Android 7.1.1 is not the culprit, but the recently updated Movie Creator app!
1: Disable MOVIE CREATOR
2: Reboot in SAFE MODE
(while phone is on, press Power button, hold Reboot option for 1 second)
3: Reboot again to normal mode
4: Enjoy 2 days of standby time"
My phone seems much better now.
I also disabled the Sony music app as I was having audio troubles, but not sure if it was necessary.

You guys think the guilty was the movie creator? My phone was barely usable. Full ram usage, battery drain and everything was laggy and hanging
what was firmware just prior to 32.4.A.0.160 (7.1.1) ???
Hello could you kind folks please guide me what was official (not rooted) Sony Z5C firmware prior to the above monster? I want to go back but don't know which one it was? Please link me to official version just before this latest ( 32.4.A.0.160 (7.1.1)) NASTY update! Many Thanks.

Yes, surprisingly.
I went from ~15MB of free memory (and the associated problems complained about: laggy transitions, program openings, home page icons, etc). back to ~250-300MB free and typical performance.
Actually usable performance is a little better given they have one of the cortex A57's more aggressively clocked.
I'd try. You can always restore if you desperately want Movie Creator and see no benefit.

What about the issue with browser page reloading every time you switch to a different app and then back again to the browser? OP reported this issue, and I've been having it, too. Did that get resolved for you with the disabled Movie Creator crap?

Google "Flashtool" - it's literally the first result there. Also, Flashtool has XperiFirm, which can download almost all firmwares for Xperias and pack them into ftf format automatically.

Yes, just flash an older version with Flashtool, it's how we got TA backup to be possible
I'm so lost and confused over this since yesterday...
so 2 days ago my phone started lagging and hanging and freezing until i realized i have got this issue with data encryption
i have a rooted sony z2 with TWRP Custom recovery
first i didn't know it was with data encryption failure so i literally factory reset and installed all my apps and data again and again!!!
On both rooted and non rooted rom ....
after every time my phone started to lag !!
after one whole day of trying everything i finally realized its actually with the data encryption and i should change my ex4 to something else... so here again i wiped the phone and changed to ex3 and installed and all my data and apps all over again
but after a couple hours...same problem again.....
im literally so tired of not knowing what to do ! my head hurts so much due this ugh....
Please help me get rid of this issue thanks ...!
Hey, i would flash the full stock rom without root and twrp and look. I think it is a problem with the twrp recovery.
On my V30 with Oreo we should flash a zip that disable data encryption after some modification in Recovery.
Just try for a week the full stock rom.

Well i have already tried using the stock ROM without any root or recovery !!
and its still the same
however im not sure whats the zip file u r talking about and where i can get it for my Sony z2 D6502...
By the way i just thought it might be another reason that my device is lagging so much after installing like 30/40 apps.
i have overclocked my CPU with root and even after flashing the stock rom i feel like CPU settings hasn't been reset? is it possible?
its always on end MAX and less Min value on both stock/pre root rom my CPU gets very hot on TWRP specially, its more than 70Celcious so i thought maybe its a hardware issue and my CPU is overheating bcuz its old or something... and i should prolly change my CPU ?
i really don't understand whats wrong with my phone and im so confused about what to do
I had here a Z1 and Z2 both was my previous phones.
I didnt experienced such problems except i backup or restore anything in TWRP.
My questions for you are:
On which Version are you now?
What do you done exactly before the problem starts?
Get a Monitor App from Playstore and look what cause this high load. Or you take a look in the Developers Option for this.
We got here a not tasty problem, maybe you backup your whole data and reset all to stock and don't install any apps, after a while installing step by step your apps.

I dont think if its even about TWRP because i even installed the stock rom with Flashtool and started installing my apps one by one and after a couple hrs device started lagging and freezing and odd how Wifi gets soooo slow ! (like everything gets slow in it) and also when i reboot the phone it oddly takes long time on boot menu to load .
im not sure if i did anything to cause it tbh...
it just happened on a normal day...
it gets soooo slow and leaves no other way for me but factory reset option...
i have the latest rom 23.5.A.1.291
the only time i can get it temporary fixed is when i backup the rom on TWRP and factory reset the Rom and Restore it back!
and everything is working fast and fine again only for like 6 or less hours...
and while data is restoring TWRP shows the CPU Temp on +80C !! Is this normal?
Btw i have a unlocked bootloader.
do u have any idea what i should do?
Yes i do! You need a structure by fixing a problem, my plan is:
You must explorer the problem why your phone get so laggy.
Perform a factory reset and use your phone for 1 Day with this stock setup. (Dont restore your old apps or data)
Look often into the Task Manager to show what cause the cpu load.
