Hello,
I've got a problem with an htc evo 3d gsm with this features:
***Relocked***
Shooter_U PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-1.53.0007
RADIO-11.25.3504.06_M
OpenDSP-v02.6.0.2226.00.0202
eMMC-boot
May 22 2012
and i've tryed to root this device by this guide.
but it entered on bootloop, so on point 7) -3 there is a note by tell if you get on bootloop you have to do the procedure again but i do it and nothing changes...Also, before flashing a new rom, everything was ok...
so i decided to restore a previously backup but the bootloop continue .
My next step was to restore the Original state of the phone with RUU.exe by this guide but it doesn't work ....now i havn't got any idea how to restore phone....
so please help me , and sorry sorry for my BAD english.
You have to flash the boot.img using fastboot commands. In that guide he doesnt tell you that. It is required for s-on devices.
first of all extract the boot.img file located in the rom zip file (usually in the kernelshooteru folder) and transfer it to the folder on your pc where you have adb/fastboot. then on your phone:
1) wipe data/factory reset
2) wipe cache
3) wipe delvik
4) flash rom from sdcard
5) connect your usb then reboot to bootloader and choose fastboot. It should say "fastboot usb"
6) go to cmd(navigate to your fastboot/adb directory) and type "fastboot flash boot boot.img"
7) reboot
---------- Post added at 09:35 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:29 PM ----------
As for the RUU are you sure you didnt download a cdma ruu? cause that guide is certainly for a cdma device, the link to the RUUs is for cdma
get gsm RUU from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1208485
Nothing but now it show for a few second the label "HTC" and after he reboot I'm trying to redownload a different RUU version
I have the same issue...
Bootlooping after I did a ROM update.
I only have access to the SD card and there is nothing on it such as a rom.zip file or any system files like that. I need to get a new bootloader I think. Where do I find one for the 3D?
I have tried to use a couple I found but they did not work.
Thanks.
First of all relock your bootloader. Then download your RUU from the apppropriate place. If you are a gsm user get it from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1208485
Which evo 3d do you have? brand country of purchase etc. If its unbranded you should run the European ICS RUU
connect your phone in bootloader mode and run the RUU exe file from pc

Thank you for the reply,

Where does one find RUU.exe? I have unzipped a stock rom file and I don't see an executable anywhere.
This is a good guide to flashing RUUs for your CDMA sprint

You should have tried searching before you posted. There are at least 5 threads with people asking how to do this. Also, when you unlocked via htcdev, they told you how to relock your device. So, for the sixth time:
Fastboot oem lock
run the RUU
reboot.
Device will say ***RELOCKED*** at the top of the bootloader
Thank you so much for your help!! I have been searching and trying to do this for so long now. The mistake I was making was that I was trying to run the RUU before doing fastboot oem lock.
So, for others like me who end up on this thread to relock their Evo 3D and bring it back to stock (if you've unlocked using HTCdev method and have S-ON):
*) make sure that you have the adb and fastboot files in the folder you are in.
1) from your command line, run "adb reboot bootloader"
2) On your phone you'll see "Fastboot USB"
2) run "fastboot oem lock"
3) You should now see "RELOCKED" on top.
4) Execute the RUU from your computer (I did - RUU_Shooter_S_Sprint_WWE_2.08.651.3_Radio_0.97.10.0808_NV_SPCS_1.31_003_release_219445_signed.exe)
5) Reboot your phone.
Thank you so much Twolazyg!!
What about the rom?
Does this restore the rom to stock if you loaded a custom rom?
Yes.
Locked & Loaded
""shooter on Deck""
The HTC Unlock method didn't do anything for me and I am preparing to flash the 651.3 RUU so that I can try again.
Does the RUU need to be renamed exactly " PG86IMG.zip " inorder to work (like the radio zips)?

The bootloader will only scan/load files from the /sdcard if they are placed in the root and labeled PG86IMG.zip.
The RUU .exe can't be placed in the sdcard, the rom.zip file from inside of the RUU has to be extracted, renamed to PG86IMG.zip and placed in the root of the /sdcard.
Good luck!
Thanks for the info JoeyKrim, beginning to wonder if there are too many posts on here for people to notice and respond to. Created another post at Sdx to keep track of what I find out:
Stock Hboot1.50 RUU 651.3 flash question: http://forum.sdx-developers.com/?topic=18852.0
Here's some of the details from there:

(XDA) jdeoxys's [How to] Restore evo 3d to latest stock RUU on hboot 1.5
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1337379
Update: The long filename did nothing. Changed it to PG86IMG.zip, put it on a blank sdcard and booted to Hboot 1.50. It read the file, checked the file, did some stuff, and then I selected "Reboot" and my phone was still the same as I had set it up.
Q: Do I need to format / factory reset first?
I didn't "Relock" since I never got it "unlocked" and I didn't use adb since it read the zip as soon as Hboot started.
Also: Can't figure out how to load/use adb correctly (win7). Did the HTCdev unlock downloads (see below), located and manually copied the 3 files (adb.exe, AdbWinApi.dll, fastboot.exe) over to c:/android folder. No problems with fastboot stuff. Thought I installed android sdk, java, etc correctly, maybe not.

Still not getting anywhere yet with HTC Unlock. Found alternate DL for RUU's and zips (scottsroms) and a how to :
(AndroidCentral) Scrosler's [HOW TO] Return to 100% Stock - All versions!:
http://forums.androidcentral.com/ht...107641-how-return-100-stock-all-versions.html
(ScottsRoms) HTC Evo 3D Stock Roms (RUU's & zips): http://www.scottsroms.com/downloads.php?do=cat&id=4
Apparently the .exe version works from within MsWindows (saw screenshot somewhere) as long as you can boot phone to the android OS with "Debugging" enabled. Otherwise you have to extract the the zip and rename it like JoeyKrim posted above.
Update: Pulled the HTC RUU.exe How to Instructions from the exe file:
HTC Evo3D RUU 651.3 exe Directions.doc : http://www.mediafire.com/?lkryvm4k29hm7g3
The Stock RUU.zip from (ScottsRoms.com) worked once renamed (PG86IMG.zip). It's 400mb vs 399mb for the one from Mr.Esp's post at xda. I put onto sdcard and rebooted to hboot as indicated in Scrosler's post at AndroidCentral from above (see pictures below). May try the exe file another time. Now to try the unlock again. Here's the filenames and MD5's:
RUU_Shooter_S_Sprint_WWE_2.08.651.3_Radio_0.97.10.0808_NV_SPCS_1.31_003_release_219445_signed.zip
MD5: 2E55650E9E3ADF81BCA541F66192E0B0

MD5: 15D8ED1BB45F85FFA687B86966AC0F01
Update2: That worked! Just needed a good Ruu.zip file it seems.

hello everyone
I recently installed KingCobra3D ICS 1.2 ROM on my EVO 3D, and it was running well until all of a sudden it started having many issues of turning off while the screen is sleeping (it wont turn back on until I do a battery pull), rebooting, and wont turn on until I do multiple battery pulls. First I thought it was the kernel, so I reflashed the kernel along with the ROM many times, and it still does those issues. My question is, how dp I go back to the original stock Gingerbread firmware without relocking the bootloader? I flashed the ICS ROM, not firmware.
EDIT: I tried restoring my backup from the recovery, but the phone didn't boot after that
any help is greatly appreciated. thanks

Hello madmajd,
S-ON as your phone is you can not flash boot.img(kernel) from the recovery.
Extract boot.img from your gingerbread rom.zip and flash-it from fastboot
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
reboot in recovery, do a full wipe
and flash your rom
sincerely,

While its true YOU CAN flash the kernel that way its not needed with HTC Unlock...
If u enter your recovery via fastboot command prompt ( fastboot boot your recoveryfilename.img), roms And KERNELS WILL flash like normal from the recovery. Here's some extra info I pm'd to another gsm user...
mpgrimm2 said:
Some key points:
- The ICS /ICS Leaked roms (3.6/4.0) typically have trouble booting the stock kernel on several HTC Unlocked phones. This doesn't seem to occur on S-off phones. (Boot loops are usually a sign of a kernel issue).
- I am on a Sprint CDMA EVO3D & have no idea how to s-off your gsm version/downgrade the bootloader.
- I do have an HTC Unlocked guide in my signature that covers many of the basics for the CDMA version. It's the same process/steps for gsm, but the files used need to be gsm specific from the gsm threads (recovery, kernel, roms, etc).
- If u decide to run an Ruu (exe or zip), you must be locked/relocked & run the same or higher firmware version as currently installed. The exe will work with the phone booted to android or with the bootloader in "fastboot usb". The zip must be renamed exactly PG86IMG.zip and put directly on the root of the sdcard & boot into the bootloader.
- If the phone boots to the bootloader, you can use fastboot command prompt to " unlock" the phone again with your unlock code. Then fastboot flash the recovery again (4ext or Cwm 4.0.1.4 gsm versions recommended), then fastboot boot the recovery, run a superwipe (or format system, data & cache), & flash a gingerbread Rom or one of your nand backups.
- The correct HTC unlocked flashing process (ICS or GB) is to enter recovery via fastboot command prompt, format/superwipe, & flash the Rom (and/or kernel) as you normally would. (4ext Recovery is a solid workaround to using fastboot commands)

Too late!
Ok so I followed someone's note to me that said I needed to relock the phone first. So following the instructions for relocking I did the "fastboot oem lock" and now I am "Relocked" but the phone only boots now to Bootloader/Fastboot.
What do I do now?
All I really want to do at this point is get the phone back working. I don't care about root as this phone is going to someone else.
Thanks

Hi
I think you need to downgrade to HBOOT 1.49.007 Because versions 1.50.00 and above have a restart issue with custom ROMS
The bad new is that you must spend your HTC EVO 3D S-OFF
I followed this thread to downgrade
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=17434661
Follow this thread to return to 1.49.007 version of hboot

If you really want to s-on your phone after this downgrade, you can enter
fastboot oem writesecureflag 3
in fastboot mode, but i don't recommend it
Pay attention to these manipulations and does not hesitate to completely read all the tutorials and all comments.

You could flash an ruu from bootloader since your s-off. Here's a link for a list of ruu pick the one that says ics shooter 35 s 2.89 1.09.00.0706 spcs wwe to that nature http://www.filefactory.com/f/4ef0ef536face67a/. Just remember to rename the file PG86IMG in all caps and place on the root of your sdcard. Power down your phone, and boot up into bootloader and let your phone detect the file and confirm to update. Next you might want to get a drink or something to eat. It'll take like 10 minutes. Hope that helps

You need to issue the "fastboot oem writescureflag 3" command with the phone in fastboot USB mode after flashing the RUU to reset the S-OFF status to S-ON. Make sure you have the stock bootloader installed before you do that.

The .exe version of the RUU needs to be run from Windows. Make sure your phone is in the "fastboot usb" mode in the bootloader and the "fastboot devices" command returns your serial number before you run the RUU.
There's also a .zip version of the RUU around somewhere on these forums that can be run from the bootloader, but I don't have a link to that. It would be safer to extract it yourself from the RUU.exe using this procedure.

That's the stock bootloader, which was installed by the RUU. Most of the custom bootloaders (Revolutionary, Juopunutbear) have their name where the "*** LOCKED ***" status shows on your phone.

You need to downgrade your hboot but since you're s-off, it's easy. Download one from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=30014044
Rename to PG86IMG.zip and place on root of SD card. Boot into bootloader and flash it. Delete the file from the card (I use my computer) then boot into recovery and flash cm10.

I have been through and still in this mess since last afternoon, totally noob at the beginning, so forgive my stupid mistakes please.
1. I tried to use cwm v4.0.1.4 to flash the cm9-20130310-nightly-shooteru.zip (with gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip)into the phone, and wiped cache and data before install zip. But after the installation, the phone just stuck at the HTC logo screen, fastboot mode and cwm are still available.
2. Flash in the boot.img but no luck.
3. Tried the official RUU_SHOOTER_U_ICS_35_S_htc_Asia_HK... but error 155 was reported.
4. Then I do some google and drag the rom.zip file from the RUU, renamed it to PG86IMG.zip and copied it to my SD card. FASTBOOT loaded the file, but the situation doesn't change a bit.
5. Google again, change my CID according to the android-info.txt extract from the ruu rom, relock the phone, and the RUU installed successfully, at least it looks like that at the moment, but it comes out that it just stay in boot loop.
6. Now I dont even have the official recovey(also boot loop), unlocked it again thru htcdev, tried to flash in the cwm touch v5.8.0.2 for shooteru, did not work. So status right now is unlocked, s-on, hboot 1.53.0007, no recovery, keep rebooting.
7. Exhausted and frustrated, I come here for any help. It's driving me crazy now, 'cause this is a friend(a girl indeed)'s phone.
